If you're gonna step on native android, why not get it right. WTF is oneplus laboratory anyway?
1) with a case on the phone, the little switch is useless. I had to build a sysui with the dnd tile, although much of the intended functionality is gone- i.e. dnd until next alarm.
2) the native android on screen navbar works great. Why did you fvck it up?
Other than that- great hardware!

Im just saying the homeback and recent app buttons only take up half of the nav bar . They could of spread them out bit more so my thumb doesn't hit 2 buttons. If you look at the code inside the sysui it looks cobbled up i think thats what chas is getting at. I been looking into adjusting the padding some to get a little more space between the buttons. I do like the fingerprint scanner on the rear, The axon 7 had it and i really liked it

I love you <3 exactly my thoughts. How could someone love these white/grey buttons
I got hooked on the Navbar Apps mod a while back and use it to have a dark navbar again -- not a fan of the white nav bar.
The navbar stays dark with Nova Launcher and the "Show image under nav bar" option selected in the Look & Feel section of Nova Settings.
Haven't found a fix (yes it seems broken) for the tiny hands buttons. They're just way too small for the bigger screen. Maybe another rom will do the trick?

On custom roms like resurrection remix or aicp we get the stock Google navbar. That would be even better than this thing we got now
Navbar is fine for me except the color that sucks in dark apps.
I wish they would leave the DND settings there, I was a heavy auto DND user at nights
I don't understand why everyone and their mother is complaining about the white navbar. That is there for a reason, and not to deviate from what was set forth by stock Android and what is seen on the current Google Pixels. That white navbar is there due to burn-in. When one portion of an OLED display constantly stays black (pixels deactivated in that area), the pixels of the display in said area degenerate at a much slower rate than the rest of the display, which causes the dreaded burn-in issue. Then, after around 4-6 months of using your device with a black navbar, you'll end up with a display that has an inconsistent rendering of color. OnePlus implemented a white navbar in order to mitigate that issue and to allow the pixels of the display in that area to degenerate at the same rate as the rest of the screen, and to slow the burn-in of the individual on-screen buttons themselves, as the grey buttons prevent the pixels from being deactivated in those areas. The buttons we're moved closer together to make them easier to reach, but I would prefer them farther apart, like normal.
This is what I'm talking about. Gets hard to see at night like this. Really, I could care less what color the navbar is. The buttons should be consistently inverse so as to be easily seen.

notification slider always useful.... However navbar ugly, i never liked navbar and mss the capacitive ooneplus buttons. So i removed navbar and used gestures (swipe up in place of home/back/recents to do respective actions)

This. DND until next alarm was one of my favorite features.
I liked the auto DND on my Samsung Note 3 from which I upgraded to OP5T, but it's not a big deal, and it works with the case on (if it doesn't work with your case then complain to case manufacturer).
No complains about buttons spacing, but it's my 1st phone without hardware buttons in that place. I also added a "hide the navbar" button so that pretty much occupies the whole navbar, again, no complains from me.
Mountains out of molehills.

Hi
Which one is better in CM9 in your opinion?
With SoftKeys?
Without SoftKeys?
I don't get why youd even want softkeys, why would you want to waste a portion of your screen with keys that you have already have anyway
i didn't buy a device with a 5.3" screen because i like wasting screen real estate...
i did buy a device with a 5.3" screen because i like wasting screen real estate!
Tablet mode with touch keys is how i use it now.
I even disabled the original menu/back button, cause i touch them while typing.
Soft keys for the multitasking button. With such a large screen we can easily afford to waste screen real estate.
Also softkeys are not good for our SUPER AMOLED screens, they will be permanently burned to your screen after a few months!
No kidding!

So will your status bar.
I personally love the onscreen buttons. I disable the other ones and disable the backlight as well. I do this for the fact that my kids and I would constantly back out of things when grabbing the phone landscape. I like the fact that with the onscreen you have somewhere to grab the phone without backing out. And although not a big deal, its less stress not having to press the big button, and this I would think would help the longevity of the hardware button itself . But in the end, it's purely preference, oh and I don't worry about the burn in as I have mine set very low so its just noticeable and It moves when I open apps and when I go landscape.

That is the main reason why I enable software keys on every ICS ROM I try! When you try on-screen keys you will feel how LONG it takes to launch the recent apps panel using the long-pres on Home button! Add to that I got very used to multitask using the recent apps softkey then physical button will only hinder my speed and will wear out in a matter of couple months
I've flashed the soft keys and disabled the back lights of the hardware keys, but how do I completely disable the hardware keys so I won't press them by accident?

Have to quote this again so people are aware. Amoleds are notorious for ghosting due to pixel wear out burnout whatever you want to call it. Using the ICS on screen virtual buttons will surely destroy your screen.
That's why I also autohide my notification bar on the home screens.

Burn out is avoidable provided you don't leave static images on the screen for long periods of time. With the notification bar it is always there unless you use a launcher that hides it on the home screens and apps that have the option to hide the notification bar as well.
I use opera mobile so I can browse in full screen and not worry about static notification bars. Also use launcher pro so I can hide the notification bar.

That's one of those old wives tales.
The burn-in isn't so much related to the technology as it is related to build quality.
Most of those issues are stemming from Gnex owners, and the ones with problems usually have other build quality problems too... they just were unlucky to have a bad batch that skipped QC.
I've got a friend who had the Gnex from day one, and to this day... no burn-ins!
I would normally prefer physical buttons (ftw) but I'm going to have to agree that the Note needs "soft buttons" aka on-screen Navigations.
Why?
Because it gets annoying shifting finger to stylus and back again during the daily use.
Bonus reasons:
- without it, the device looks much better (like the Gnex or N9)
- these can be customized for colour, glow, function and gestures
Anyone else notice the slanted lines going across the notification pull down?
This is the part that you hold your finger on as you pull it down. Go in to a dark room and you'll notice it.

I would describe them more as stripes rather than jagged lines, It's software, or even more exactly the image. If you change the png, guaranteed you'll lose the stripes.

Ive learned that its a futile effort to get everyone to assert that they see what you see ( and I'm very much guilty of it), be it lag, heat, creaking sounds, squeeshy keys, screen issues, scratches...etc etc
Everyone has differently tuned senses, different standards, and surrounded by different ambient conditions (light, heat...).
Reminder to self: dont ask, just know you have OCD

I downloaded the screencap (TapaTalk downsampled it a lot) zoomed in and I can see something behind AT&T on my laptop screen. If you hadn't mentioned it I would have thought that it was part of the image compression. I went back to the original screencap on the phone, viewed it in QuickPic (32-bit I'm told) and it just isn't visible. I think your phone's screen is calibrated differently than mine or it's from a different batch because on mine that background is absolutely black at all levels of zoom and brightness. I would also describe color behind the status bar as a pretty neutral grey.
That may mean I'm missing something that you can see on your display, but I don't mind. I'm getting absolutely flawless blacks in the background at low light for the first time in a year so I'm happy. :good:
FYI, I'm running in the "Standard" screen mode and turned off Auto Adjust Screen Tone. I adjust brightness by hand.

Ok guys, I think I have found a way to fix the burn in on the moto x for the navigation bar and status bar. There is this app called screen diagnostic where it will have a fullscreen image to make the status bar white and reverse the colors of the navigation bar. But there may still be burn in on the status bar because the icons are white and the status bar is white with the app. That's where you guys will come in handy. We need people of every carrier who are rooted with gravity box installed to take a screen shot of there phone on nova launcher with no dock and no icons with a black wallpaper with the status bar and navigation bar on the negative colors. Then we need those people to share it here and we can use the screenshot with the app! Boom! burn-in fixed for people who don't want to root!
Good find. I haven't personally had a problem with burn in but it's nice to have this option

Only phone I ever had with AMOLED was the GNex. I never really had my screen on for too long either but over a year the status bar and nav bar had burn in issues. It wasn't really noticeable unless you were made aware of it. I would imagine they have gotten better at it but it is simply good to be proactive about it, especially when you are considering keeping the phone upwards of 2 years as a daily driver.

Yeah the app is called galaxy button lights in the play store, it doesn't require root and allows you to turn them off/on and change the duration they stay on for. Unfortunately it doesn't completely disable them, they just don't light up if you turn them off. So the baby could still push them accidentally. I just use chrome cast for my kids when they want to watch a video, seems to help most of the time.

I'm considering a V20. One question I have: does it have an LED, and support multiple colors?
I use Lightflow for my notifications. Different color and/or flash rate for notifications.
I'm aware of but not familiar with the second screen. I've read something about the notifications having a lifetime, ie will go away possibly before read. AS well, I think it would be easier to see notification lights and not have to even be necessarily close to the screen to read anything.
At any rate...does the V20 have the LED? Anyone using Lightflow?

It's a bit of a change going from a device with LED's to one without, but I ended up installing LED Blinker Pro and am using the on-screen notifications option (for devices lacking the LED light) and it works pretty good. Definitely worth the couple of bucks for the pro version.

I used to have an app like that. Forgot about it. This might be a good solution. I guess the V20 is back on my evaluation list.
Thanks

No problem. It's definitely a great device, even though it has a few shortcomings. Overall though, I'm very happy with it!

You can see his lot of notifications and an LED light just next to his front Camera?

Sure looks like it... But pausing the video at the right spot (2:06) with the flashing light on and then zooming in, it looks like it's just the glare from his lighting. You can also see a similar glare on the camera and on the screen. You can also draw a straight line thru all the...
Uh, that's not an LED
That's the proximity sensor
If you aim any camera at it you're bound to see it flashing
We just don't cause our eyes don't see that spectrum of light

HOWEVER
Since someone recently figured out the second screen widgets and can put anything they want up there (even on stock!) I'm sure we can expect some sort of led emulation thingy soon.
I kinda like how v20 handles notifications instead of led

Same, I just wished the notifications stayed on the screen for longer than 2 seconds. Its not enough time to read which defeats the purpose entirely.
