[B399][Stock ROM]Flash via dload mode[TESTED] - Honor 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi everybody!
I'm posting this guide for flashing the B399 update for Honor 8 (FRD-L09C432)
BEFORE ALL: Your device will be not certified (apps like android pay won't work). I think that's problem is born because that's build is internal and not for international release so don't install unless you don't need these apps (netflix works normally). After that short excursus we can start!
I DON'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGED PHONES! I'VE TESTED THIS GUIDE BEFORE POSTING!
WHAT YOU NEED:
1) Your device
2) The 2 zips attached in 2nd post
3) ca. 30/40 minutes (for download and update your device)
4) Patience
FOLLOW THESE STEPS!
1) After you have downloaded these 2 zips you have to unzip them and You will found 2 UPDATE.APP.
3) Create a folder in your MicroSD called dload and put first the UPDATE.APP from the upload.zip
4) Turn off the device and then press (and maintain pressed) VOL+/VOL-/PWR, it will start the installer.
5) Device reboot automatically: it will take about 10/15 mins to boot up
6) Make the same thing with the UPDATE.APP from the 2nd... That's will take much less time to flash and boot up
7) Make a total wipe (if you're facing issue).
8) You are in!
WHAT'S NEW
1) 3D Panorama.
2) 1st december patch.
3) CRACK and BlueBorne fixed.
4) Better connection (WiFi, Data, GPS and Bluetooth).
5) Every 3 days you have to put your pin instead of your fingerprint for better security.
6) Better performance and less RAM usage.

I think everything is working! 3D Panoramic photo is cool feature, but if you want to share it, it's uploading to Fyuse servers..

Don't joke: you (like everybody here) share evaryday and every seconds of our life with servers so what's the problem if Fyuse take a small piece of your privacy?

It's publicly visible, that's the issue. I just inform, since not everyone is reading privacy policy or terms, a lot of people just press "I've read and I agree" without even opening the file.
You don't have any control to make it visible only for you (if you don't do it through Fyuse app).
btw. You are telling me that I share my private data with Google, Facebook etc. so I shouldn't be worried about sharing my privacy with other companies? That's a bull****.
If you trust some of your friends, tell a private story, that doesn't mean you can trust everyone else.
Wanna share your "every seconds of your life" with my servers? Seems you don't have na issue with that.

Any guess about OTA availability? Thanks for this anyway !

Keep track of data transfer (GPRS)

Is there any way to keep track of the amount of data transferred through GPRS.
I currently subscripe to 200mb transfer per month, so I would like to keep track of this or it could become pretty expensive for me
If you google, you'll find a couple of commercial ones, but I found this for free a while ago. To be honest, I haven't a clue where I got it from, but it was definitely free.
Ave it!
Thats exactly what I had in mind!

It's a good app - very basic, but does exactly what you need. If I remember correctly, it also ensures that it's always running, until you manually stop it, so if you reboot your phone when it's running, it starts when the phone boots up again.
This looks pretty cool.
Shame it's not got a nicer looking icon
Scary how much data browsing full web pages uses but this device is just sooooo good at it

Yeah it sure works perfectly.
Nice to be able to set the date when it's supposed to restore as well.
Actually I don't find it in the task manager, at least not as a program, so it's no risk that one closes it unintentionally, which is great. It's really super
+1
Thanks
it'S a trial version ... go to "about" and it ask you for a serial number.
It most certainly is.
Well, as long as it's not a trial that will expire it works just fine for me, I don't need any other functions.
I seem to be getting red crosses in the connections is that normal?
That happens when your connection isn't active. If you start surfin the cross will probably disappear
Seems to work so far. 25kb just for email (imap4 headers) and weather update But again the problem that the connection doesn't disconnect by itself after 60sec (seems to happen when I update the weather, otherwise it seems to disconnect fine)
Did you do the tweak so it disconnects?
Remember to disable all auto-update, including weather and TIME!
Then it works with the autodisconnect.

Yes, I installed the cab and every auto-update is off. when browsing with opera or watching youtube it disconnects, but when I update weather manually it doesn't disconnect. wired.

Why is Twitter slow on update?

Hi!
Is it just me or why is my Twitter not upated as soon as a new twitt is written.
I have made a small test and when i write something on my PC's twitter it takes a while before i can see it on my HD2. How come?
Get the TouchTwit app. It's like $2, and I've found it to be way more useful and prompt than the included Peep program. Not perfect, but better.

I've the same problem, in the settings I've set the update to every 15 minutes, but I have always update it manually. When I wake up in the morning I always see that the last update was around midnight and that update was done by myself.

Then we have a new problem/bug for them to fix....
My guess is that we're never going to see any fix for our problems now when there's new models out on the market that needs fixing as well But i read a thread about the U.S model have had a new ROM that fixed every problem the old one had... I'm glad for them and are hoping that the rest of the world can expect the same treatment.
Not any fix atm?
have no idea, think its something wrong with the program.... hope they update it someday

After your great write-up on rooting 2.2 I have no problems testing your programs however when I click on the sign here link it asks me to sign in with my gmail account and I am weary about using my credentials through a link thats asks for that first. Can I pm you my email for testing? Thanks.
I pmed you, love to help out
hmmm, everyone should be able to see and edit the list.... no matter if they are signed in or not...
I was able to edit spreadsheet without being logged in.
As for the program, it works good for me. I haven't accounted any bugs.
except suggestion: make it so it only has to check environment once, it takes a little bit to run the check everytime.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I also thought about, what if they copy it to another computer, or they uninstall something, the flag would still be there saying the environment is clear, even when it's not. I will definitely take this into consideration.

did have a question though, since it's creating a system/app folder, essentially this would override the one on your phone erasing pretty much everything, correct? I wanted to test the "push to phone"

Damn the time zones. I'm always asleep when you west coast fokers release new cool stuff
Just tested the program and everything looks good.
It's a good alternative to re-installing htc and sprint apps when the user has deleted them and didn't back them up.
Haven't tested the push to phone option yet and will have to make a most recent nand before I do.

What Do I Need Installed Before Rooting Xoom

Ok, so I've downloaded the from MediaFire, done a back up of everything I want saved and took an extra aspirin and Nitro pill just in case I go into cardiac arrest (well advised for me, since I just bricked my 2-month old DX a few days ago using a "one-touch" method for gingerbread).
Now, do I need any specific files or apps in my Xoom before I root it, like Titanium Back up?
Also, please bear with me with this because I am new, but I actually don't know what to do next. I mean, I know I should connect my Xoom (wifi/3g/4g model) using a usb cable. I also have the drivers installed on my computer, but I just don't know where to go to next.
ive always been an adb person so I rooted with that but for something fast and simple id recommend this seems to be workingbfor ablot of people

Thanks. I have read that one, but it doesn't tell me exactly what do I do once I download & extract the files (which I have). You'll have to excuse me, but I am just being cautious because of my DX.

It does tell you what to do:
Instructions:
1. Unzip the tool and all of the folders and files into a directory. Preferably a folder on a root drive. (i.e. c:\xoom )
2. Run the Xoom One Click EXE tool and follow the instructions. Read the prompts carefully.
Ok, but I do know exactly what a "root" file is. When I look at my system (Windows 7, 64 bit), I do not see a file/folder named "Xoom".
Also, is that saying that I do it on my computer, or to the Xoom (putting the rooting files) into it?
Again, please bear with me. Also, I do appreciate your help.

No problem and just to let you know, I have not rooted my Xoom but have rooted my phone.
You need to extract the ZIP file you downloaded somewhere on your hard drive on your computer. The instructions recommend a root drive like c: but I don't think that matters. Just extract it somewhere and know where it is. You run the RootMyXoom.03.exe file where you extracted the file and follow the prompts.
There is nothing needed on the Xoom other than placing it in Debug mode which the tool will tell you how to do that when launched.
You got nothing to worry about
I used the one click method yesterday to root my WiFi Xoom it was easy. even though its really not one click its more like 5 to 10 but if u just read what it tells you to do as its going threw i think my 5 year old niece could follow the directions
Ok, one last thing before I break out the defibrillator and do it.
I have the 3g/4g/wifi model. Should I be on wifi, or 3g mode when I do it?

I can't tell you because I have never used it but what is the reason you rooted in the first place? I know the DR Screenshot app only works if you are rooted. Can you install and take a screenshot without error?

Before my DX went south of the border, I had it rooted. Screenshots are not on my todo list, but overclocking is. I also want the ability to power on/off using an icon in the extended controls.
But basically, I want to get the most out of this $600 toy in speed.

Well the message sounds good so I would say you are ok. I only used the screenshot example as a test. Try something that requires root and see if it works.

Samsung Dive and SGS2

I never heard of "Samsung Dive" before but someone pointed out a link:
http://v2.samsungdive.com/help/guideRemoteControlsClear.do
Features for our beloved SGSII (all via internet/remote):
1. Track (helps you find your phone)
2. Lock (lock your phone and show a message on the screen)
3. Ring (helps you finding your phone by making it - who could have expected this - ring)
4. Call logs (check the call log)
5. Wipe out (completeley deletes all files on your phone, obviously remote control then won't work anymore.)
I like those features !
is it because of me or just that samsung dive is not interesting to anyone?
either way i get ignored lol.
Don't worry. I asked about this on a different forum, but no one was interested. I don't know why. I was happy when I found out that a service like this is existent on the Galaxy S II.

Big fan of the remote sound on feature..I always forget to take it off vibrate when I come out of class.
Sounds god to me. I like the htcsense.com for HTC devices, I can only imagine this is similar

Same feelings with me mate, eagerly waiting for it
And these features are very nice to see as we pay a premium price (for a premium phone of course )
wow - very impressed with this. I have my S2 - it's beautiful and will enable this when my sim unlock comes through tomorrow! thanks
seems quite useful, i pay £15 a year for that + sms, contacts and image backup with wavesecure!
I posted this in another thread already, but I'll ask again....
Everything works for me... except the ' ring my phone' feature. Anyone else got this problem?

Btw has anyone tried Kies air? Truly phenomenal. Allows you to download and upload files to/from your phone from your computer's browser. No need for USB cables. And since it's over the same LAN network it's around the same speed as USB.
The interface isn't rushed either...it's fantastic.
Yeah, I really like Kies Air. But... Samsung Dive simply does not work for me...
It now works for me, looks like the website was updated as well.
Yep. Wasn't working yesterday but it is now!
