It hadn't occurred to me that the headphone adapter would be incompatible with card readers (Square, PayPal here) and other devices that use a headphone jack such as the ELF emmit.
I like the phone a lot, but this is very annoying. Does anyone have a fix for it?

I was proposing a solution that has swipe, tap and chip.
Even if a specific adapter is released, it will still cost.
So $20 for an adapter or $25 for a new reader seems like a moot point. No?

Do you know if the Square Contactless Reader works with the PH-1? I'm having the same problem with my swipe reader and would upgrade to the contactless if it worked. It didn't work with my last phone (Moto X Pure Edition) and Square's site has no info on the PH-1. Past experience tells me that calling customer service will be a HUGE waste of time

It should because it is Bluetooth. The old swipe readers don't because the apps don't recognize the USB-C DAC as an audio-out. Most people don't know this, but the PH-1 doesn't have DAC (digital audio converter) built-in, it's actually located in the dongle.

I don't know if it works.
I haven't needed it. I don't do mobile payments.
Both swipe and conctactless work with PH-1

When attempting to connect to the contactless reader to my PH-1, the Square app said it could not connect because I had developer options turned on. Once I turned that off and tried again I was told it could not connect because the device was rooted (it isn't). After pairing it with a Pixel 2 and trying again with my PH-1, it worked successfully for both contactless and chip&pin entry.
Note: the swipe reader also works using the USB-c to 3.5mm jack that came with the PH-1.
All this was running build number PQ1A.190105.045. In other words, the May 2019 security patch release of Android 9 Pie.

Hi Guys,
Please I need help in acquiring a 3.5mm miniusb adaptor for my Kaiser. My supplied HTC ear buds have gone bad and presently can only use one earbud. I have plenty of earphones and Headphones to choose from but they are mostly 3.5mm jacks. I found some on the web but they require paying with paypal which I don't have. I dont know any store in my country where I can get one. Am in Nigeria and cannot open a paypal account unless I go about dubiously. So Please can anyopne help me with any suggestions or ideas. I would prefer an adaptor with mic.
Thanks
I nabbed one of these.

Confirmed on that - the adapter has it's own mic and works fantastically with every HTC I've used it on (G1, Kaiser, Touch Pro, & Excalibur).
You can check out this thread. The supplier does take money transfer if that's fine with you .. you can contact them out. I haven't bought any but only checking their website / payment method.

The n2a SD card is based on cm7 so it does support Bluetooth, although limited range. The BN firmware does not support Bluetooth. Have you tried pairing the speaker in cm7? The pairing code is either 0000 or 1234.

You stated you have a n2a SD card. Insert it into the SD card slot. It should boot up with the operating system. Then go to settings-bluetooth-connect. You may need to set nook color discoverable to devices. Once Nook color see the device, pair and enter the code.
Did That!

If you have an Android phone see if you can pair the speaker and play music through it. You can also try to pair it with a BT capable laptop to see if speaker works.

We know the speaker works. The Braven 570 supports two BT profiles-HFP (hands free profile) and A2DP. I don't know if the OS on N2A SD card supports these profiles. Call the N2A folks and ask them.
I'm running Cm7 and have a similar bluetooth speaker. It works fine, but it has to be less than 3 feet away. I usually keep it next to the Nook, or on top of the screen if I'm taking a shower (works nice and loud!)
Most bluetooth devices pair and connect beautifully, but make sure you keep it within range or the music gets choppy/cuts out.

You can download all this stuff for free. Just read the forums.
Also b&n says there is no Bluetooth because they never enabled it and there is no internal antenna for it. Nevertheless, it is enabled in all released versions of CyanogenMod for nook color from version 7 onward. The latest is 10.1. You'll find BT has a limited range due to the lack of antenna...
And again, the full software is completely free of charge and available online. Some companies have simply taken the free software, slapped their name on it, and are reselling it. Some of these companies do so with an offer of support. You can generally find great support online for free as well.

Hi Guys,
I bought a Noosy U-disk (4 gb of space + acts as a microSD card reader) for my N10 and I'm disappointed that nexus media importer doesn't do anything when I plug it in. It just says "connecting......waiting for media" and I can never access the files on it.
I bought this thing b/c of it's potential utility with it's microUSB on one side + USB/Card reader on the other. I am desperate to get this working since I am constantly on the run in the hospital and need fast access to my notes & guidelines without eating up all my storage. I'm not interested in rooting b/c I have it set up perfectly and don't want to redo all that redownloading of apps etc...and I don't know what I'm doing lol.
It works PERFECTLY with my Galaxy S3, however.
Thanks and I really appreciate it.
(Note: I also bought a couple of OTG cables but they are taking FOREVER to arrive since they are coming from China)
attached is a pic of my U-disk
Hi there sa278. First of all, if it's working with the samsung galaxy S3, we can all guess where is the problem. However, if you want to root your device, there's a method that won't erase your data, and it is automatically, fast and accurate. Look in the forum for superboot, you just need to install the drivers, and double click a .bat file, the rest is up to the program.
I have to say that nexus media importer will let you use the permission of "write" (plus the ones that you have on non-rooted) by rooting your device, but that's not necessary in your case (non-rooted device can only read and execute).
You can give it a try, but it's pretty weird. Have you tried with any other usb? Goodluck!
Sorry for my english
The developer for NMI is very responsive if you email him. I bought the same U-disk device and could only get the built in drive to work, not the card reader. The developer and I emailed for several days and tried to get it to work. Rooting won't help you get the u-disk to work. We tried that as well. I ended up buying a micro-usb microsd card reader instead from aliexpress that works perfectly with NMI.

No problem. This solved my problem of storing movies on my Nexus 10. This is the link: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/USB-OTG-Connection-Kit-MicroB-MicroSD-Card-Reader-for-Cellphone-PC-Smartphone-free-shipping/701881177.html. It works perfectly and is small enough not to interfere with the headphone jack.
Not working anymore
I just recently got NMI for my Nexus 7 and using my OTG cable i was able to use my Seagate 1tB external to view movies and music but now when i connect it i keep getting a Connecting USB Device /dev/bus/usb/002/002 Waiting for Media that lasts forever...any ideas?
Not sure if this is the right topic, but there doesn't seem to be any other place I could put this.
So my brother lost his keyboard USB connector (it's wireless). If I were to go out and buy another one USB connector for the exact same keyboard, would it work? Sounds stupid, I know, but it's worth a try.
Thanks
-Kevin
Straight out of the box, no. In my experience wireless keyboards are paired with their transceivers and have no obvious sync button to pair them to another, there may be a way to do it in software or something which brings me onto:
But where are you going to get another tranceiver from? That would require buying another keyboard in which case just use the new one. Or don't lose USB plugs in the first place, mine stayed plugged into the PC at all times or when in transport was gaffa taped to the keyboard.
Bluetooth keyboards of course don't have this issue. Next keyboard I buy I am intending to be Bluetooth hopefully.

I have seen 3 of the same model USB wireless keyboard working in one room without interfering. They hadnt been played with either, they were straight out of the box so somehow a keyboard is paired with its included tranceiver.
Thats not to say it can't be paired to another but mine has no obvious way of doing so.

I suspect the BT dongles connect to a certain keyboard BT MAC address. The same thing is true of any BT device; they have to be paired.
No matter what you will always have the issue that you can't buy the adaptor on its own anyway.

That's why I like Bluetooth devices where I don't have to pay for a dongle, can't lose it (it's built into my laptops, tablet, phone, and for that matter car), and don't have to give up a USB port to use a wireless peripheral...
If it is a Logitech device you may be able to pair it to a unifying receiver.

hey there. i have lineage 15 (i think. july 29 2019 release), and ubuntu l4t running on my switch. i would love to be able to plug it into the dock and output to the monitor and use usb etc. neither one outputs, but should fine and i dont see many help topics about this via google or xda search. anybody know what may be the issue?
I am using an insignia brand dock(best buy brand, their quality is actually really good on every product ive tried, a broad range. anyway,), and i have tried both the insignia adapter, and the nintendo adapter for power,, no issues there. i dock it, light turns green, it charges, but display doesnt switch. id even be happy with the display cloning.
anyway, if anyone has any insights on how to resolve this (especially the latest l4t which is 18.something) please please even if you only have a lead to info reply here so i can develop in class instead of carting around a laptop bag full of hardware and cords etc.
You answered your own question. You're using a 3rd party dock. Developers aren't going to bother supporting something that hardly any Switch owner uses.

dude, its insignia. ive never known them to not use OEM specs down to the chip. anyway, it should just be a standard PnP usb bridge, and last i checked, usb and hdmi hasnt changed. still direct pin to pin like it always has been.
I didnt come here to get insulted. i came here for help. either input something useful or say nothing. some of us blew all our money on tuition and dont have the 60 bucks to drop on a dock. thats a week of eating
edit: also, i have tried several direct usbC to output adapters, a dvi and an hdmi. both work fine on my phone and pull up DeX, or connect to my tv etc. none of them work on the switch tho..
You didn't get insulted and you got your answer. You may not like that answer but it's the answer nonetheless. If you bothered to read you would know that 3rd party docks are iffy as far as working with Android/Linux. Also it's already been confirmed that the Insignia dock does not work. I think what you fail to realize is it's not "pnp". The developers have to support it. They have to include drivers for said hardware. You do not understand how the Switch dock works.
Well I finally found this thread again, after 4 months or so of searching and waiting I got another 3rd party dock and it works fine. Even better with the new android 10 and l4t. Now 3rd party works fine.
Issue was, noone sold the official dock separately you had to get a switch with it for the longest time
Now they are finally starting to sell docks. Ish. It wasn't for a lack of trying.
HI, I'M looking for a 3rd party that , small enough to carry with and supporting HDMI out for android and l4t. SO which dock exactly are u using right now?
I already tried two different docks and don't wanna a 3rd try
