I've been playing with my phone before I finally move everything over, and so far I love it. My main complaint is the lock screen - I want to be able to do more.
Whenever I try to pull open a notification on the lock screen, such as the weather, it asks me to sign in - my Note 5 didn't do this. I also want to be able to use Open Camera from the lock screen, however whenever I click the shortcut it asks me to unlock it first. Is there a way to change this?

Hello all,
I need some advice on a locking program. Here is my problem.... I generally use the power button to "lock" my phone before I put it in my pocket. Usually that works fine until I get a reminder alert or something else that causes the phone to wake up in my pocket. At that point the touch screen becomes active and all sorts of odd things start to happen as the phone bounces around in my pocket.
I really only want to lock the touch screen, not the handware buttons so I can respond to whatever caused the phone to lock up in the first place, i.e. reminder, incoming call, etc.
I also need it to be easy to unlock the touch screen using one hand and without entering a security code.
Thanks,
Jay
I use Lockdown: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1795969
it's small and simple.
Lockdown
Looks almost like what I need except it also locks the hardware buttons. I only want to lock the touch screen.

the closest thing I can think of for you is....
step 1.
menu » settings » personal » buttons » lock » do not lock buttons.
this will only lock the screen and not the hardware buttons (with the exception of the d-pad.)
step 2 is to set up the enable the device lock which is different than the security lock due to the fact it DOES NOT require a password to unlock the phone.
menu » settings » today » items » and check the box for "device lock".
--------------------
I tested it and it only takes 1 screen tap to lock the phone and two to unlock it.
any email or text will not unlock the phone.
if you receive a call the screen will remain locked however, you can answer the call without unlocking the screen by pressing hardware button with the green phone icon on it.
-----------
that's the best I can come up with. I hope this helps.
I bid you peace....

I've been using DeviceLock forever and it has always worked for me.
This has happened twice today. I am using the phone and the voice typing display will not go away. I can use the phone.. .i can go to the homescreen, open apps, look at settings, etc, but i cannot close the voice prompt, and i can't use it.
It essesentially makes the phone useless until i reboot.
I am not sure why it is doing this. Not rooted nor unlocked or anything.. just stock.
The other thing it is doing is that sometimes when i wave my hand over the screen i will see the unlock screen. it will have the time and a lock icon below it ... if i touch the lock icon, it moves to a lower (on the screen) position and when i re adjust to hit the lock again it moves back up. Not sure how to screen shot this... maybe a video from a different phone.
when this happens, it will unlock by pressing the power button. I think this has something to do with the smart lock. DAMN google for forcing you to have a lock when you use Android Pay. Never had this problem on my Note 4 with Wallet.
Anyway, any help on either of these bugs would be appreciated
ok, i can reproduce the bug.
can someone else try this to confirm?
- with the phone screen off have someone send you a text message.
- swipe up directly to messages. ( use the google one, but i am not sure if it matters.)
- reply to the message with a google voice typing
- hit the power button to turn off the screen.
- Have the person text you again.
- open message by swiping up to it.
At this point the tap to speak screen will be there and not go away until you reboot.
no one else?
here is a video showing the problem I can't believe I am the only one experiencing this

I can try it when I get my phone, but that's a few weeks away...
Wife has the Turbo 2 and when its unlocked from being idle, it goes to the phone call screen. She's wondering if you can set this to be the "home" screen, as per the calling screen.
I've looked to see if there's something that is in the settings, but not been able to locate anything that will show how to change or set this.
Any assistance would be appreciated!
Thanks -
If unlocking from the lock screen it will go to the last screen before the phone was locked. If she was on her home screen before it was locked and it is going to her call screen, it is because she is unlocking it to that screen. Drag the unlock icon up. If you swipe to the left or right it will go to the phone or camera, as you see their icons. If you unlock by the moto display icon, you drag it down to go to the home screen, or up to the notification icon (if there is one) to go to that app.
Oh cool, I will let her know. Thanks!
Hi everyone,
A bit more unusual question: I have a KW88, but am eager to remove the watch face alltogether.
What I want is that, as soon as button is pressed to show the screen, it will automatically unlock the phone and open an app which I preprogrammed to automatically open on android. It will directly show a big dial button on the screen. Funnily enough, sometimes my autoload app overrides the watch face, and sometimes it doesnt. I haven't been able yet to pinpoint why.
To avoid buggyness, I wish to remove the watch face alltogether and have it directly open to the normal app menu (then the app always opens).
Anyone have a good idea to do this?
Thanks!

Hi all of you
I got rooted exynos note4... i need fingerprint app for my lock screen. Which one do you prefer? And why.. it can be not only for lockscreen
I am running a Note 7 port on my Note 4 and I use AppLock.
I do not use it's lockscreen feature (it does have it included) because I think the Note 4's fingerprint reader is not well suited for unlocking the phone (IMO, because it can be tricky to unlock when handling the phone with one hand)
Instead, I have my lockscreen set to "swipe" so I can do basic stuff like switch the volume or turn toggles on and off at will, as well as double tapping the home button to open the camera from screen off phone.
I have most apps locked behind my fingerprint reader, that way nobody can open any app and a fingerprint lockscreen doesn't get in the way when I just want to mess with the volume or some basic stuff.
Applock also has a feature that it will only ask for your fingerprint once per unlock (until you turn your screen off), so that way you don't have to swipe your finger every single time you open an app (PRO version, not expensive at all)
Another reason that 3rd party lockscreens aren't that great are because:
1. Not all of them will allow you to use the screen off memo, I think Hi Unlocker doesn't let you use the screen off memo unless you unlock it with fingerprint, which can get annoying
2. There is no 3rd party lockscreen (to my knowledge) that will allow you to double tap home to open the camera app. All of them WILL require you to unlock it with the finger-print or turn the screen on and then swipe the camera shortcut. To me, this is a deal breaker since I take a lot of photos, most of the time to things that happen pretty fast and losing a couple of seconds to unlock the phone and/or swipe the camera option builds up and gets annoying.
But overall, the most used (that I've seen) is AppLock and Hi Unlocker.
Good luck, both are free to try anyway so I'd test them both to see which is to your liking
