Phone start showing No service after 6 months, detail in thread - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hi,
I am using LG G6 LG-H870DS and it was working A ok till yesterday.
Last thing i remember was installing and using "GPS JoyStick", i was able to mimic US location while sitting in Asia. Later part of the day when i checked my phone, it was showing no service (although it was still showing my mobile operator but no service).
Went through internet and did all possible tricks
1- Checked IMEI (inside the phone->about) and it match to box IMEI (so i presume no problem there).
2- Did hard reset (did a backup before doing hard reset), no avail (did reset 5-6 times, thought to try a few times in case i was not doing right).
3- Saw some threads with similar problem and steps to change Mobile Network->Network Mode->GSM only. But my phone didn't respond while clicking on any other option, it just got stuck on GSM/HSPA/LTE.. auto. I even Used *#546368#*870# method and under RAT setting tried changing to GSM only but it popped the message failed.
4- Used another SIM card, didn't worked. Used my own SIM card on other phone, worked just fine. So i presume it was not my SIM card issue.
Fought with my phone till 2am end up gave up and decided to visit LG service center in morning.
This morning went down to service center and service staff used some LG dongle to reset the firmware to no avail, same issue he was not able to check/uncheck any option under Mobile networks.
Once clicked Operator it showed error. He tried his best for 40 + minutes but endup he decided to take the phone in to send for repair (which he said will take 2+ weeks, as they don't have any replacement phone available there).
After all this exercise i would like to know (if any one can answer) , if "GPS JoyStick" is culprit in screwing the phone. Is it even possible for an app to screw the phone to the extent that it can't be used even after doing hard reset? Or was it just hardware which broke down and have no direct relation to the app i installed?
Would appreciate if anyone can shed some light.
Thank you,
LEE.

no network after reboot - cannot see SIM

Most of the time when I reboot my Vibrant, it is unable to find the network. Going into the settings and selecting Mobile networks results in an error message telling me to insert a SIM card.
Fixing the problem involves one of two methods, which I fear one day will fail indefinitely.
1) Rebooting multiple times until the phone sees the SIM card and registers on the network. This method failed more than ten times today until I gave up and tried method 2.
2) Turning on airplane mode. Then in an attempt to turn off airplane mode and get the phone to register on the network, it cannot be done. Airplane mode is greyed out in the popup menu that comes with a LP of the power button. Additionally, airplane mode is not indicated in the status area at the top of the screen. Next, reboot the phone. Upon reboot, airplane mode is indicated in the status area at the top of the screen with a small airplane. Switching off airplane mode is now possible from the popup menu that comes with a LP of the power button. The phone now immediately registers on the network. This method does not always work.
I've tried more than one SIM card to ensure that the problem isn't SIM specific. I have yet to try a SIM card from a different carrier to troubleshoot a carrier specific SIM problem.
Any knowledge on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
In an attempt to see if I could find a reliable way to get my phone back on network after a reboot, I made the dumb move of turning off my phone. I've now been rebooting my phone repeatedly for about 20 minutes trying to get it back to network.
In messing around with flight mode, I've now got the stupid airplane in the status area, and yet the damned phone says in the popup menu that flight mode is off.
I might be looking at a factory reset next.
Even a factory reset fails to get the phone to see a SIM.
Any ideas?
Unfortunately, it may be a hardware issue...You tried another tmo sim card?
Seems like a hardware issue to me too. No, I have only tried two different True Mobile SIMs here in Phuket.
The phone is pretty much cooked at this point unless somebody has some ideas. It won't register on network even after a factory reset. I've stuck it in a soft pouch and resumed the use of my 3yr old Nokia dumb-phone.
The next thing I face is trying to get a phone that isn't even sold in Thailand serviced at a local shop. Not fun.
Second alternative is to mail it back home for about $50, have it repaired, and then pay about $50 to have it shipped back. Then, when it arrives at the Thai post office, they will hold it for ransom until I pay taxes, duties, and tarriffs totaling another $50.
I'll probably end up just having a nice paper weight until I go back home in about a year.
Any other ideas would be great. Thanks a lot.
Unlock it and try a different carrier, the problem sounds like a hardware problem but it seems like you are out of luck and if you go back home in a year then the warranty probably won't be valid since warranty only lasts one year.
So yeah you can unlock and see if that works, if not at least you have a nice MP3 player
Thanks for your reply. It's already unlocked. That's the way I bought it on eBay in the US and brought it over here to Phuket and have been using it on the local True Mobile network.
Not getting the phone serviced in warranty is unfortunate, but it isn't really a problem. If I have to pay a couple hundred bucks to get the phone fixed by either sending it home now or getting it fixed when I'm back in town in a year, so be it. I'm used to these kinds of predicaments with the kind of traveling I do.
Any other ideas guys?
Flash an update file via Odin, a factory reset won't fix everything.
I think I've got it figured out. And it sucks.
The solution I have found that will consistently get the phone back on network is to power it off and let it completely cool down by either letting it sit for a long time, or by putting it in the fridge for about ten minutes.
So yes, it appears to be a hardware problem. And I'll likely end up having to spend a few hundred dollars out of warranty to get the mobo replaced. Because as I'm sure many of you have experienced with electronics, the way that manufacturers design these things, anytime something goes wrong that's as minor as a worn out headphone jack or some other prong on some component of the guts, the whole mobo has to be replaced, which in the case of a phone, is basically the whole phone.
Please excuse my irritation. This just sucks.
I'll be carrying a spare dumb-phone in my car for trips around Thailand that could end up getting me into some minor trouble if my car breaks down and I have no way to call for help. Yeesh...
When it happened to me I powered down , pulled the battery , removed and reinserted the sim .
Maybe run an under-voltage ROM, that could help but again that is just another random idea, I mean you don't lose anything.
Thanks for all the replies.
After upgrading to JI6 this evening, I have rebooted the phone at least 6 times without waiting for it to cool down. The phone has registered on network without failure every time.
I'll report back if it fails to register on network ever again.
My problem happened when I got a new sim . It's been working fine for a month now .

Samsung Galaxy S II faults - any help appreciated

Hi all,
A few days ago I turned my Galaxy S II on to find the no signal line notification in the top right corner. Upon going to search for 'Mobile Networks' the phone is telling me to 'Insert SIM card to access network services' - I have tried my old and a new SIM card, both have given the same response.
I've tried factory and hard resets. Strangely, after the hard reset, my music (assumingly in USB stroage) is still there..?!
Even stranger is the phone's inability to show the IMEI - my provider has informed me that it hasn't been blocked, something I suppose.
The phone cannot connect to Kies however is recognised by my PC.
Any help/suggestions would be great, otherwise I may have to send it for repairs...
Thanks,
Guys I have a strange problem here...even though I am not charging my mobile it still shows charging symbol in the status bar. ...I restarted my mobile and I even flashed a different rom... nothing has worked...please guys help me out...

Restore your EFS backup. No backup ? A couple of options; search for threads on here about recovering IMEI and or/EFS. Lots of them with various things you can try in order to possibly fix the problem. If they don't work, you have two options.
One, service centre/authorised repairer. If you're lucky, they either won't notice or care you've been messing with the phone & they might fix it under warranty. Two, contact a member on here called Odia by PM and wait for him patiently to respond. If you hound him, he'll probably ignore you (quite reasonably too). He can sometimes recover IMEI/EFS for a small 'donation' which will probably be much cheaper than paying Samsung to fix it.
Edit - READ THIS FIRST: If you've never messed with the phone (rooted it or flashed non-stock firmware), then send it to Samsung in the first instance before you try and fix this yourself. If you haven't been mucking around with the phone, you shouldn't have any problem with warranty service. If you have, try the other suggestions.

GT-I9300 Not Registered on Network Problem Solved

Dear All,
I write to inform you that i finally solved my GT-I9300 'Not Registered on Network' problem. I decided to make this official announcement so as to assure others, most especially those who have tried almost all the tricks and steps found on this and other forum on the subject that all hope is not lost.
May be if i shed more lights on the problem which i encountered, and i suppose many other people, you will understand me very well. First, i did the upgrade through Samsung Kies and after the phone rebooted, it lost link to network. I called Samsung and chatted online with the Customer Service, i was asked to send the phone to South Africa where i bought it. I called South Africa and also chatted but they could not understand let alone solve the problem. I headed to XDA and other forum to find solution, I tried all versions of ARIZA Patch, none work. I tried all modified ROM, yet no solution. At one point, the problem became complex. The phone moved from not registering on network to 'Factory Mode'. I followed many other steps, but could not get past restoring it back to User mode. I gave up after a month and bought another phone.
My son shocked me last Friday when he said that it will be his first time of seeing me accepting that some problems cannot be solved. I mused over it and told myself that i will rather destroyed the phone totally than giving him the impression that i cannot solve the problem.
I got out my two computers - Mac and PC and reformatted them all. Installed ODIN and downloaded a 4.3 Stock ROM. I then began searching everywhere for any clue as to what went wrong with the phone. My research is simple; the PHONE could not register simply because the IMEI and Serial Number were wrong. My IMEI and S/N moved from 0000 to unknown. After reinstalling through KIES, it came back from unknown to another wrong numbers.
I finally decided to go inside the phone by activating everything on ODIN and see if i can get the wrong EFS on the phone wiped away and left empty. I repartitioned, wipe EFS, etc. and the only thing the phone did was to move from unknown to another incorrect IMEI and Serial.
Finally, i read on a post that the problem is simply software, so i began searching if it is possible to repartitioned the phone completely and turn it into a toy. I recalled that about ten years ago, i successfully installed Nokia OS on Blackberry through a poorly concerted code designed by a friend. In so far i still have the code, I thought that i could do same with my GT-I9300. It won't work, sadly. But in the process of doing so, i realized that using SRS, i can do so comfortably. With this 20 USD software, i gained control of the internal organs of my phone and started out by wiping out the EFS first and with my EFS Backup, i re-wrote it back on the phone. That done, i expected the phone to work, but sadly it refused to register on network.
Not ready to give up, i went further to see what other options are available to me. I realized that i can actually re-wrote my IMEI and Serial number back to the phone. I tried it and after about an hour and almost three attempt, T-MOBILE surfaced on my phone and the GT-I9300 came back to life.
Altogether, i spent two unbroken days reading and reading and applying one step after another, one procedure after another till i finally got the phone back.
SRS can not only do this, but can take back your contract and locked phone from those shylock and give you your phone. It go inside your phone and show you all the codes that locked you to a particular network, etc. It can remove those useless codes that make your phone patented to a particular country and give you an international version. It can also turn your international version to a local one, if you so desire.
I do not know who designed this software, i however testify to its immense ability to safe you from Samsung's irresponsibility.
I am open to helping others and answering questions on GT-I9300.
I have since been enjoying my phone.
what's the short version of the story?

Going by the last lines, it seems this is the tl;dr version

Same problem here. please anyone help to solve it
happens with me sometimes...for me i found it to be service providers fault..put the sim in another slot and see..dont use dual sim...the other slot hangs sometimes...
I bought my phone in februari, after one month this problem started. When i restart the phone i can work with it a few days after it start over. Within a week u can not work with the phone any more becose it allso blocks when i whant to do a call. I have to reset it then. After three weeks it al starts over. This problem is with connection for calls, for data and for gps.
I writed the problems to samsung, they send me to a offical samsung repairer for free repair with my garantee. They said that i had cut sims and the problems maight be this, so i bought 2 new mini sim cards. But no fix. Then i gave the phone for a week to the repairer, they gave it back to me, i saw they had reset my phone, after three weeks the problems restart. So i beleve they just reset my phone and that took a week. I went back to the repairer with the same problems. Then the phone staid two weeks there. They get an update cernell with kies they said. But after three weeks i had the problems again. I went back to the repairer and they said that the phone is an import and beause of that they could not do anything more, they send me back to the seller.
So i went back to the seller. They took the phone for five weeks and answerd me that there are problems with the motherbord, costs are 250 euro, this problem was made by manual shocks like a fall or something, they sey there ara some scarves on the phone. So it was my fault and the garantee is void. They just send me the phone back without repair and don't belave that the problem was there sinds i baught the phone.
I'm vary mad, i just want to hit the phone with a hammer, that woold be a real manual schock.
In the meen while, my friend gave me a reserve phone with broken glass buth very good working phone.
I think i'll buy a new phone, i chinees or something, no expensive samsung that doesnt work properly and a service blaming me with that. At the end i lose 400 euros.

Axon 7 A2017g b04 Cellular Radio off ???????

Hello,
I just got the Axon on amazon, a 2nd hand one.
I inserted my sim card and there is no way to have the cellular radio on. I did an full wipe twice, swapped sim, inserted a new one... nothing. Signal strength is zero. I tried also to do an emergency phone call (it should work even without the simcard) nothing. It says that I'm in aeroplane mode. But it's not. I did a manual search of the network, it says error while searching for networks... If I select choose automatically it says registered on the network (but it's not!).
I installed LTE discovery and it says that radio is off... I've tried to reset data connection... nothing...
any thoughts ?
I will send the phone back to the seller but if it's just a software glitch I would rather keep it ....

-Look on the back of the phone, below the Dolby Atmos and "do not dispose of" symbols, and tell me what is the model of the phone. It may be an A2017, and if that's the case maybe they installed the wrong modem and erased the IMEIs
-Try putting your SIM on the 2nd slot
-Try finding the phone's IMEI from the system, maybe it is under About phone - Signal status or sth like that.
-Try another SIM
Those are my ideas for the time being. I also remember there was a secret code that you can put on the phone app, it opens a settings app with a bunch of tweaks and you might be able to change something. Just google "axon 7 secret codes" or similar

Send it back... almost 100% not a software issue
Mine stopped working out of nowhere, the radio that is. I sent it back in and they send me a new one, no questions asked. Although the replacement they sent me may have been refurbished and I set the phone down and picked it back up and the screen was unresponsive after. It turned on but I think the digitizer got unplugged or something because I couldnt do anything on the screen. Yay for mid-range phones?

I've read that you can fix that by applying pressure on the screen, like in the center, then going to the sides or something like that...
The digitizer is the same plug as the screen though, so it didn't get disconnected
