Building AOSP ICS rom for Galaxy S2

I've been trying to compile roms for a week now and the last few days I had succes with building CM9 from source and AOKP from source. Those are not that hard to build and it didn't take that long. To build these roms from source was a very good practice and helps me to go into further rom building.
But from the beginning my goal was to build a rom using the Google AOSP source. As I know that's not as easy as building something like CM9 but it is possible right? But it is possible as far as I know.
What I tried to do was to sync with the stock Android repo and synced the CM9 device tree and kernel etc but it didn't worked as I don't know what to edit and what I exactly need to build a working rom.
So what I want to know is: How do I build a working ROM from the stock Android ICS source? And what do I need to edit and to download (what sources etc)?
I don't need every step full described, but can anyone explain me all the steps what (files/repo's) I need and what files I need to edit to compile a full working ROM. Or isn't it that simple?
Last month some guy (stormtroopercs or something like that) said he will post a tutorial but I didn't see anything from him and the topic from that guy is dead.
Thank you very much for your help!
(My working space is fully setup so I don't need to know how to setup a building enviroment!)

Gonna make a running attempt miui

Ok I have never compiled any android os, with that said ive compiled all kinds of linux stuff including installed Gentoo. Is there any decent guides on compiling miui, any advice on what build would likely be the best to compile? Im assuming miui would be basically the same as compiling cm10 right?

Ls980 AOSP needing LP bootstack

@Rashed97 I am a ls980 user currently on aosp blisspop, they are updating to a new caf kernel, unfortunately it is impossible to use the new version without the LP boot stack you created for the rest of the variants... I am willing to provide u with whatever files and info necessary to get this done...as with my brief time on the new kernel my signal and various other things were vastly improved...hope to here from you soon..

[Q] [HELP] Sprint LGLS980 how to unlock and install TWRP. Noob to the G2

Hey guys and gals. I ordered a new G2 Sprint LGLS980 for my dad replacing his Galaxy Nexus (yeah I know about time). I want to put an AOSP 5.1 rom on it but Im new to this device. I have unlocked and installed custom recovery on many devices so im not a total noob to this. I have searched for how to do this but I cant seem to find an up to date best way to do this. Can some one help me out or point me in the right direction on the steps to take to get this done?
Also he will be using it on Sprints network so I want to use a rom that has all the Sprint LTE bands enabled. Will any of the AOSP roms work and how stable are the CAF roms? I run a CAF rom on my Nexus 5 and love how smooth it is, but its buggy at times. I would like to use a rom thats pretty stable he really doesn't need a real heavily customizable ROM either. CM12.1 would be great but I see its not on the device yet.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I'm guessing you've been going to the G2 Sprint section. Not much there, you need to go to the generic LG G2 page and then to development from there. Here's the shortcut: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development
If you've got the recovery loaded, you should be ready to go. Just make sure to read the ROM requirements carefully, make sure you have the proper radio and bootstack. You'll find what you want in the link above, the most popular ROM's are mostly Cloudy for stock based, CM, BlissPop and Resurrection Remix for AOSP. I have the LS980 and the AOSP ROMs double tap to wake seems to take 5 taps, but other than that the features can't be beat. I run BlissPop now and have run 3 of Cloudy's ROMs, I like Bliss the best, just wish the DT2W could be fixed.

Are there any ROMs which do not get their source from OOS 3.0.1 beta2?

Seems all roms CM based or otherwise use alot of stuff from this build of oxygen. Manual network selection is broken in this build and they have since fixed it. Wondering does anyone use a newer build of Oxygen to build from??
What you really mean, is to ask if there's any CM13 build that is using blob package from anything else than what Grarak made compatible with CM13 using different hacks and workarounds? I think not, there's really just one really active hardware engineer/programmer on the development for this phone, and he is busy with education/schooling so it has therefore halted.
yep this is exactly what I was asking. Thanks
