Hi All
I have searched through the forums but have not come across what has caused or how to easily fix my Error 7 problem.
I have TWRP backups of B15 B19 B32 as well as ASOP_EX RR CrDroid that I can switch between without any problems.
The orig Roms are on the SdCard as well however every one give an Error 7 when I try installing.
Is there an answer to what caused the problem and what will cure the problem in case I encounter this prob in the future.
Thanks for all input in advance.
please give more details of error 7
Status-Error 7 signifies incompatible ROM however the Roms are the originals that the backups were made from. Using TWRP 3.1.1.0, perhaps I need a different version, also not sure if signature verification should be checked or not, currently unchecked.
Maybe because you have the Universal Bootloader installed? Try flashing a stock bootstack before (be sure it's the same bootstack than the ROMs, just to be sure)
Since I have Fastboot with B32 then it sounds like I must have the Universal Bootloader

The same ones as I have installed. CrDroid, AOSP Extended Resurrection Remix. If I Restore from TWRP they all run fine. I just wanted to start from scratch without GApps and try the signature spoofing with CrDroid (my current favorite)

At the moment the only custom ROM that I know of that flashes with B32 is latest/last build of Dark ROM (where B32 is a requirement).
I tried other existing ROMs and they would not flash on B32. Option was to downgrade or use Universal Bootloader, which I did.
Dark ROM is my favorite but I still like to jump around so I had no choice.
Same thing happened when B25 was new and was a requirement for a ROM or two. Then-existing ROMs wouldn't flash on that either.
All the bootstack stuff was odd for me coming from the LG G3. There I could flash anything from KitKat to Oreo. Bootstacks were/are not an issue there.

That ROM is the one I wish to try.
darkrom-14.1-20170811-NIGHTLY-axon7.zip
Even Drakens B32 Universal bootstack won't flash.
Does a TWRP boot backup contain the bootstack, if so I have stock B15 backed up?

Ah, I see. That version of Dark ROM is too old. You want the 1102 build. Head on over to the thread and pick it up from there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3654264
[ROM][LOS14.1][7.1.2_r29] DARK ROM [OMS][Pixel features][Delta updates][11/02]
Don't forget, it has no apps, keyboard, or launcher so you'll want to either pick up the Dark Gapps or the Extras package (includes all the LOS default apps and Trebuchet).
Signature spoofing is built in so the Extras package is the one to get if you're going the microG route. If you're looking to use NanoMod-Full or Shadow53's no-gapps.zip (both include a bunch of apps and launcher) you wouldn't necessarily need Extras, but...
You'll still need a contacts and dialer. Maybe keyboard. You can extract Extras, remove anything you don't want/need, and repack.
I've made several zips from that to account for different situations. One has just contacts, dialer, calculator, and keyboard. Anything else will be provided by the aforementioned microG packages or installed manually (via F-Droid, Yalp Store, Play Store).

Thanks a million. I use a Tablet sim so a dialer and sms is not required ( voip.ms and TextNow ). Too bad Extras was not based on Aroma. I use DW Contacts, not sure if I need contacts for the storage. I did want to try the microG route, may need some help there. In the extras package, just delete the directory I don't want or is there editing in the updater script to do?
@2CanSan, just deleting the directories seems to be enough.
Ooh, I like the idea of an Aroma-based Extras package. I need something to do so maybe I'll do some learning about Aroma.
I doubt the dev will mess with that as it probably low priority.

Thanks so much for that link. My first search came up with the more complicated tutorials. That tool seems like just the ticket.
I prefer SU. Because I'm old school and like things in /system (like BusyBox and whatnot) I'll usually flash it last. I guess I could do that with Magisk, too.

Xposed (FakeGapps module?) isn't needed since Dark ROM has signature spoofing built in.
There are three main installation providers out there.
NanoMod: Full, microG, and F-Droid zips. Full includes everything (apps, a launcher, Zelda ringtones, etc). There's also an Aroma setup wizard allowing you to choose what you want. After that you would flash a zip, like Full.
NanoMod can be in system or as a Magisk module.
If one has no intention of using paid/licensed apps or don't want to use Play Store (just say no to Google [grin]] one can opt to install Yalp Store instead.
ale5000's installer includes microG and F-Droid. Basic.
As of late I've been using Shadow53's zips. Separate zips. microG, microG w/Play Store, F-Droid, and his no-gapps zip, among others.
The no-gapps zip has a nice selection of apps including latest Firefox. And DAVdroid for syncing contacts and calendar.

Finally I believe I have the Error 7 sorted out. Correct me if I am wrong.
For DarkRom and the Project New World Oreo Rom you need to flash B32 Bootloader.
For all the other current ROMs flash the B15 Bootloader.
And curiously does Bootloader=Bootstack just different terms?

This will make it systemless.
But modify this zip for your ROM version would be pretty simple.
I'll try to keep this updated as long as I can.

Very nice, since latest update of MIUI is fix my GPS problem, right now I'm back to MIUI using MIUI EU.
And try to tweak some setup to meet great user experience like using LOS.
Hi, it could be a really nice tweak, but using it I am not able to reboot my phone...I am able to soft reboot my phome only :silly:
Hi, I tried installing this on xiaomi.eu MIUI9 weekly ROM (7.10.12) but it bootloops my device appreciate the effort though, this is what I've been missing from using Lineage (and CM before that).

Not sure how I match up the builds. I have somewhat experience with Magisk modules, I wrote one myself, but it wasn't very complex. I tried extracting the file and opening each file I could find, but I didn't see no build string, so I guess that wasn't the way to go. Then I tried to extract "services.jar" from my ROM and replace it with the one inside your module, and after that it finally didn't bootloop, but then pressing the Recovery and Bootloader options from Reboot menu didn't do anything.
Do you know what exactly needs to be changed? Maybe I missed it because I used Notepad++ for everything, and maybe should've used some Java IDE like Eclipse or similar.
For those who want to do it yourself, just download the latest 3 way reboot mod for your build from miui global site and just replace those files on the module.
I know that the OnePlus 1 (originally) came with Cyanogenmod but then Cyanogenmod shut down, branching into LineageOS and OnePlus made OxygenOS. However, I don't know which features LineageOS has that OxygenOS doesn't and what LineageOS doesn't have that OxygenOS has. I'm not sure if I should switch from OxygenOS to LineageOS. Could anyone tell me the pros and cons of each and their recommendation?

I prefer the customisation and feel of aosp, it's just my preference, there is no best rom or OS, the problem for me and many more with aosp and Los is the inability to use the camera as expected.
Fusion is probably the best rom as in non OOS but has the camera from it which works nearly perfect
Your best bet is to use stock OOS long enough to get a good feel for it then make a nandroid backup and flash Lineage. That way you can decide for yourself and it just takes a few minutes to go back to OOS if you decide you like it better than Lineage. I've tried a number of custom ROMs but haven't found one I liked better than OOS + Blu Spark yet. A lot of people like Pure Fusion but I couldn't get even a decent phone signal with that ROM. It seems to be incompatible with my phone carrier.
How is the OOS-camera-app with AOSP-roms?
I see there is magisk-modules for custom roms you can flash via TWRP.
Is the the same quality compere to OOS?

Imho, nothing compares to oos stock camera, not even the modified Google camera. It's coming along but I was using it on lineage for a few days and felt the picture quality was definitely lacking.
As for the OP, the best advice has been given, play with OOS, tweak it to your liking and then back it up and go try it with lineage. I went back to OOS From lineage because lineage is still very new for our device and it has flaws that I didn't want to deal with on my daily driver. In time, I'm 99% certain I will jump to lineage because I think it's great; but for now on my op5 it's oos plus blu-spark.
(Plus I'm hoping @eng.stk will make a LOS kernel (don't kill me man lol))

Feel free to use the search button on my thread.
I am a long time custom ROM flashoholic, and had custom ROMs on every phone I could.
OOS is the first stock OS that satisfies my needs for customization, features and the lack of bloat.
I recommend using stock with Magisk, as you pretty much have all the features from OOS and all the possibilities from a custom ROM.
The only thing lacking for me is the "long volume press skip track" feature, but I have that on my headphones (just not on the phone itself).
Benefit is that you still can receive updates (just reflash Magisk) and camera quality stays.
I cant really give any valid reason for switching to a custom OS besides dropped mainstream support, and I think that shouldnt happen for at least 2-3 more years. (In which time you will probably get a new phone )
In short: LOS is more up to date, and better battery life but slower app openings, and maybe more bugs (i didn't notice any yet)

Doesn't work quite like that, when you extract the camera and try to use it outside oos, it fails; unless someone has a find a way to do it.

No, you can make Apks that depend on device specific framework libraries. They'll only work if the libraries are there.
Now you can copy framework libraries, but in the OOS camera case, you also need modifications to the kernel and to Android to make it work.
In short, your ROM has to support it.
The only ROM I know that kinda support the OOS cam is PureFusion. And even, the smile capture and a few other minor things still do not work.

As mentioned, APKs may depend on specific libraries or frameworks. Some apps don't need specific libraries or frameworks. OOS Camera does. Try extracting the APK and install it on your Fire.

OK, I get out now.
I'm trying to install the f-droid privileged extension OTA zip, but after flashing it in TWRP, when I open F-Droid, the 'Expert mode' in the settings doesn't show it.
Steps I took....
1. Installed the FDroid.apk downloaded from https://f-droid.org/en/
2. Booted into TWRP and flashed the org.fdroid.fdroid.privileged.ota_2070 downloaded from here;
https://f-droid.org/packages/org.fdroid.fdroid.privileged.ota/
Here's the actual path to the OTA zip;
https://f-droid.org/repo/org.fdroid.fdroid.privileged.ota_2070.zip
Rebooted back into ROM, which by the way is AOSiP 5.6, started F-Droid for the first time, went to settings, Expert Mode, and nothing...
So here the developer puts out the OTA zip to flash in TWRP, it's mentioned here;
https://gitlab.com/fdroid/privileged-extension/
Then it's not working, or I'm missing something? Does anyone know how to do this manually? When I look at the site for the OTA it says this, Fixed OTA ZIP for Android 8.0 Oreo, and the custom roms is Oreo 8.1.0, so maybe this isn't supported?
I know there is Magisk Module and NanoDroid for F-Droid, but for now, I'd like to figure out why this OTA zip is not working?
Also can anyone explain, what the Pros & Cons are of installing manually VS using NanoDroid-Fdroid or Magisk?

Im sorry if this is off topic. I've had my opo since 2015, never rooted or installed custom roms.
I've lately been wanting some change, and lineage with microG seems like a great place to start my custom rom journey.
My only worry is that many tutorials for rooting/install roms seems slight dated or focused on windows environments, I am on linux.
Can i safely follow tutorials from 2014/15 or has there been many changes that i should be aware of when rooting and installing lineage with microG?

Hi
The way to do it is still the same.
Just be sure to use latest files (twrp 3.2.1.0 or newer and latest magisk for root).
Using linux seemed to me even easier.
The basic steps are: have adb installed on linux pc, then unlock bootloader, then install twrp.
In twrp make a backup and then flash roms and other stuff.
But as you said there are many guides how to do. Just search for how to unlock bootloader and install twrp using linux.

You can either use DavDroid (CardDAV) (search google on how to configure it to work with Google) or you can use Google's own proprietary sync mechanism which you can install through flashing Nanodroid (find it on XDA).
The old OnePlus One is quite a beast with this really effective ROM. It's faster and smother than my Nubia Z11 with Android 7.1 and even faster than the LG G6 on 7.1 . If It only could have LTE band 20 ....

I don't even remember when 60FPS high speed recording actually worked on Oneplus one (yes, its included in majority of ROMs out there, but doesn't actually record in 60FPS but rather 30FPS). But even that works!
In addition, there's no random reboots, SELINUX is enforcing, security patches are up to date and battery lasts for 48h with moderate use. And microg is just truly wonderful piece of software.
This ROM is a wonderful piece of genuine professionalism that is truly hard to find.

Agreed. It works with official play store too, so I can use PRO features of Greenify. Also xposed is running well. Root cloak can hide addonsu.
Best ROM for bacon so far.
It's just I can't hide some apps notifications from lock screen. But maybe it's oreo problem..

You need to login to official play store with your own account, and you can download previously purchased paid apps, and you can purchase paid apps you want.
With yalp store, i can login with my own account and download previously purchased paid apps, but I can't use that apps because some apps want to check license, something that yalp store can't do.
Just reporting in case someone is interested:
I dirty flashed the latest microg lineage 16.0 (build 11.3.2019) over encrypted microg lineage 15.1. and to my suprise everything went smoothly. Zero issues! I even have separate long boot password, and short screen lock pin. Since google disabled raw encryption commands in Pie, you no longer cannot do it easily.
But this thing just works, amazing.

I don't have any complains regarding performance.
Has anyone been able to successfully upgrade to Magisk 17.1 on the latest stock nougat ROM?
Even after the 17.1 Hotfix I still bootloop back into recovery; I've attempted to use the uninstaller first and same result.
Any idea ?
Same here unfortunately
I have this issue too
Anyone aware on how to assist the developer in diagnosing the issue. Seems like no other manufacturers are having the issue with the update.
I have no problem with Magisk 17.1 - but then again I use AOKP - custom roms do not have the problem!
Geez - I dont know how you can use stock - it is useless in comparison to AOKP / Lineage
No custom ROMs have their own set of issues. The best compromise for my usecase was to remain on the latest stock and make all the modifications I required myself.
Are the custom ROMs still on nougat?
Issues ? I don't have any - none ! I use AOKP and it gets updated every week and also gets the monthly security updates - Stock does not.
I have dolby atmos, substratum, magisk and pure freedom.
Oreo is being developed by tdm at the moment - hopefully it will be released soon but I am not holding my breath and am more than happy with what I have right now.
Which version do you guys use prior to 17.1?
16.7

@k500zm could you possibly tell me how to get dolby atmos working with AOKP? Been a while since I tried, but I couldn't figure it out. Tried to use a Magisk extension but it didn't work. Atmos is the reason I've been staying with stock (that and so snapchat works.)

countercharge,
You need to perform a fresh install of AOKP. These are k500zm's suggested steps:
Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik
Install AOKP rom; get if from http://xfer.aokp.co/?developer=AOKP&folder=tulip
Install unsu to get rid of Supersu.
Install ViperAtmos 5.5 Sony Beats Edition
Install Magisk
Install gapps
Reboot
Delete "audiofx" and "cyanogen audio" services using sdmaidpro or titanium pro
If you want, install Sony Music player from Magisk app
I am attaching the unsu and ViperAtmos files.
Regards
can someone please try this on his tulip https://forum.xda-developers.com/trek-2/themes/sound-mod-dolby-audio-t3835114
just because tulip and jasmine are very similar
please let me know if it works
I have seen a solution for this problem in 4pda forum if someone got this problem maybe they can look at there.

So I finally got around to flashing everything tonight, and unfortunately it doesn't seem that dolby atmos or viper4android are working. They're both installed, but they have no effect on the audio and changing/enabling any of the settings doesn't seem to do anything whatsoever to the sound. I also can't seem to remove audiofx with titanium backup pro. Not sure what I did wrong or how to fix it. Any ideas?

I tried to flash Magisk 17.3 and 18.1 without success on the B15 stock firmware. Had to flash back to the noverity B15 kernel to boot up the stock firmware again.
Magisk 16.7 is working! :good: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/tag/v16.7

It was. Now although security net passes, Google pay stopped working for ever.....and unless there is a way to make magisk 18.1, working on stock, which to me in unheard of, we stock users have to unroot or flash akop and go through the hustle of making sound work with Dolby.
Cheers
