I'm trying to install the f-droid privileged extension OTA zip, but after flashing it in TWRP, when I open F-Droid, the 'Expert mode' in the settings doesn't show it.
Steps I took....
1. Installed the FDroid.apk downloaded from https://f-droid.org/en/
2. Booted into TWRP and flashed the org.fdroid.fdroid.privileged.ota_2070 downloaded from here;
https://f-droid.org/packages/org.fdroid.fdroid.privileged.ota/
Here's the actual path to the OTA zip;
https://f-droid.org/repo/org.fdroid.fdroid.privileged.ota_2070.zip
Rebooted back into ROM, which by the way is AOSiP 5.6, started F-Droid for the first time, went to settings, Expert Mode, and nothing...
So here the developer puts out the OTA zip to flash in TWRP, it's mentioned here;
https://gitlab.com/fdroid/privileged-extension/
Then it's not working, or I'm missing something? Does anyone know how to do this manually? When I look at the site for the OTA it says this, Fixed OTA ZIP for Android 8.0 Oreo, and the custom roms is Oreo 8.1.0, so maybe this isn't supported?
I know there is Magisk Module and NanoDroid for F-Droid, but for now, I'd like to figure out why this OTA zip is not working?
Also can anyone explain, what the Pros & Cons are of installing manually VS using NanoDroid-Fdroid or Magisk?

I already know about using NanoDroid-Fdroid or Magisk, I'm just trying to figure out why this won't work manually.
It seems now after looking at this, the DEV hasn't updated this for Oreo 8.1.0 that the custom roms are using, so I'm working on it...

Well, it's the App to use, there's also YalpStore.
This is about MicroG/FakeGapps, using a rom with No Gapps, no Google Play Store, etc...
It's taken me a little time, but I've figured out how to do a nice clean Custom Rom install with NoGapps, and use MicroG.

OK I'm new to the flashing game. So I been hearing that viperfx is better then audiofx that comes with cm13. But I keep reading you to remove audiofx and have some unofficial version of CM13. I would like to know if there's a way to put viper4android on the official nightly build with the root access that comes with it. Also would it survive the nightly updates.
Update 1: I also have the Xposed Framework on here as well if that affects anything.

It's just another app you can use.. Google for it, install, selinux needs to be permissive aka moderate, download the drivers, and done..
If it survives depends on the way you flash, if dirty properly yes if clean no - just like any other app..

Alright. Thank you for the information. I kept seeing things saying you had to flash it in twrp and remove audiofx yourself. One more thing, I also keep seeing that after a reboot it will go back to enforced. After V4A is installed would I need to keep changing back to permissive or just for the install? Also will it survive the nightly updates CM does?

You can also flash it as a zip file but to my experience not necessary.. If you have to remove any other audio programs I don't know I used it on aosp..

Today has been Magisk Frenzy!!
Uploading another module that I keep using,
3 way Reboot MOD from Mi-Global site.
This will make it systemless.
But modify this zip for your ROM version would be pretty simple.
I'll try to keep this updated as long as I can.
Cheers!!
Changelog
v1. Initial release for 7.5.11
v2. skipped
v3. Updated for Global Beta 7.9.7
updated for Magisk 14

Very nice, since latest update of MIUI is fix my GPS problem, right now I'm back to MIUI using MIUI EU.
And try to tweak some setup to meet great user experience like using LOS.
Hi, it could be a really nice tweak, but using it I am not able to reboot my phone...I am able to soft reboot my phome only :silly:
Hi, I tried installing this on xiaomi.eu MIUI9 weekly ROM (7.10.12) but it bootloops my device appreciate the effort though, this is what I've been missing from using Lineage (and CM before that).

Not sure how I match up the builds. I have somewhat experience with Magisk modules, I wrote one myself, but it wasn't very complex. I tried extracting the file and opening each file I could find, but I didn't see no build string, so I guess that wasn't the way to go. Then I tried to extract "services.jar" from my ROM and replace it with the one inside your module, and after that it finally didn't bootloop, but then pressing the Recovery and Bootloader options from Reboot menu didn't do anything.
Do you know what exactly needs to be changed? Maybe I missed it because I used Notepad++ for everything, and maybe should've used some Java IDE like Eclipse or similar.
For those who want to do it yourself, just download the latest 3 way reboot mod for your build from miui global site and just replace those files on the module.
I am creating this guide for Magisk v13 and working modules. Please let me know if there are additional ROMs that this guide works with, but I am trying to keep the steps as simple as possible.
Magisk Installation Instructions:
Download Latest PureNexus / PA ROM and follow those instructions
Boot into the ROM and go through the initial set up, at this point verify that SafetyNet is passing. If it is not you may need to factory reset and re-install your ROM.
Reboot into TWRP
Flash the attached modified Magisk-v13-Pixel (from Goodwin_c)
Flash the attached verified boot signer (from Chainfire)
Reboot the System
Uninstall the version of Magisk Manager that shows up in the drawer
Install the attached version of MagiskManager_v13_new5.apk (from Goodwin_c)
Open Magisk Manager (you may need to wait a bit, I had to clear it from my recents a few times before it launched and asked for file system permissions)
Go to the app settings and tick on Magisk Hide
Re-run SafetyNet and verify it's passing
Working Modules
I will create a video guide on how to modify modules to work with the Pixel phones until Magisk is fully updated to support Pixel.
Modules I have modified to work with Pixel:
Emoji One - systemlessly replaces emojie font with Emoji One.
Tethering Enabler - enables tethering on phones where it is disabled by the manufacturer/provider.

These still looks like the ones @goodwin_c created. If that's the case, then yes, it's very glitchy and you are better off sticking to v12. It is a good starting point though and hopefully he can get an updated v13 working soon!

What rom are you using? The issue I came across that Goodwin confirmed was that root seemed to work, but apps like Titanium Backup didnt work properly. Are you running any apps that require root? And do they seem to perform correctly?
It also looks like he released a v13_new5.apk on his AFH account. Are you still using new1? Just curious if the new5 version might fix any previous issues.

I'll update the post date in brackets when I make updates here. Goodwin_c does not have his own thread, so I've just been monitoring his android file host account. The original poster has not updated or maintained his guide from the RR thread, so I created a new one to be as up-to-date as possible and include modules as I modify them.

I've included both of those. I basically have been using beyond compare to compare the arise module that works with pixel to other modules and re-zipping them and testing with my device.
I see. Thanks.
Btw do you know the difference between v1 and v5 apk?
It seems MagiskHide is gone on v5?
I have tried Magisk-V13 on Pixel-XL with stock ROM.
I haven't tried it with stock kernel, since SafetyNet won't pass (as far as I understand).
Tested with Elemental-X + MagiskManager-v1, SafetyNet does not pass. App always says "cannot use Play service"
Tested with Kirisakura-Rebase-1.36 + MagiskManager-v1, SafetyNet passes.
MagiskManager-v5 does not come with MagiskHide, so I assume it cannot handle SafetyNet.
Both MagiskManager v1 and v5 loads very slowly.
Before the UI could be used normally (it means Magisk is loaded?), ROOT cannot be obtained.
So those boot-up root-required action would probably fail.
Xposed was released for Oreo! Been so long don't know where to start.
EDIT: (I was just being dumb)
Grab the systemless version. Easiest way is through Magisk. Just make sure your on 15.2 or grab it via the link below.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268
I think the best method is using the systemless version for magisk, I just tried it and it works.
Simpy go into modules and you will see the sdk27 version at the very bottom: tap on it, you see there is an updated xposed manager apk made for the new magisk version.
Download the apk, install the module, reboot, install apk, reboot.
Works with no problems
Enjoy

I feel dumb but I don't see xposed anywhere in the modules section of the Magisk Manager app.
Is there some other way I should be finding modules? I click on the hamburger menu and then downloads and there's about 30 or so listed.

Never mind. I figured out I had to be on Magisk 15.2. I was on 14.5.
So anyway I downloaded the Xposed Installer that is linked in Magisk Manager and installed it. Then I installed Xposed inside of Magisk. The only problem is the Xposed Installer crashes every time I click on a module to download. Does anyone else have this issue?

Yes, I confirm, I don't know if it's caused by Magisk or because it's just a beta...
Anyway there is a workaround, instead of downloading the module from xposed manager, download the apk of the module from internet (official repo website or from whatever you want), because when you are going to install and enable the modules there are no problems, and after a reboot they're working.
Updated op to reflect install options. Happy modding everyone!
Success! ?

Yeah I did everything the same as the way you installed nougat Xposed systemlessly. Also the framework module caused a lot of choppiness on my phone so I uninstalled it anyways
Just a head's up that MinMinGuard causes my Pixel to start crashing like crazy
I have been thinking of installing this since last night, but with it still in beta and modules still needing fixed for 8.1 I just can't see any reason (other than something new for me to play with) that will benefit me enough to deal with the SafetyNet failure.

I am happily enjoying the stock ROM on my XL and I keep the same installed on my wife's Pixel. I spent years swapping out custom ROMs on various devices and expected to do the same when I got the PIxels (very shortly after released almost 2 years ago). After the initial shortage of custom ROMs (due to the new OS engineering method) subsided and plenty came out, I realized there was nothing I was missing enough to deal with running custom and not being able to do a monthly update that takes me literally less than 10 minutes. Besides not missing anything, there is pretty much no bloat I need to get rid of, and the device still runs great even with a handful of "always on" apps. Probably best for you to look at the development sub-forum and do your research there and ask questions.
haven't used xposed in years. Is it still worth it with the recent android OS's?

That's like asking, "which tastes better, vanilla or chocolate?" Make a twrp backup, and give it a try, what you like, another may hate. For me, it's fun to add features when I'm using a rom that is lacking in that department.
Okay so I've been trying some treble gsi's and yesterday I installed the AICP image on my phone. I've had zero issues, magisk works, substratum works, the style option in settings works, magisk modules work, the rom is really smooth and has a lot of settings and the battery life is pretty good too :^]

You can make just about any ROM pass safteynet by grabbing Magisk Root, and install the module MagiskHide Props Config. Then using the terminal commands you can install the Huawei fingerprint thus passing safteynet correctly.

Bugs spotted
1. Lockscreen clock sometimes does not show, along with the date. I don't know the reason why, it just sometimes doesn't show it, like when your reboot your phone.
2. Can't set duration for long pressing the power button to enable the flashlight.
That's all the bugs I've noticed so far.

Did you do a clean flash, and did you do a factory reset after flashing this rom?
Got lots of apps crashing because I didn't do a factory reset after flashing treble ROMs.

No go. Still get crashing with play services. Just to be sure you are flashing Pico Gapps 8.1 ARM64 right?
I tried a factory reset with stock recovery as well.

Yes, that's right, I'm using Pico GApps 8.1 ARM64, try clearing cache of download manager, downloads, google play services, and google play store?
Hi !
Does it work on BND-L21C432 ? What are the steps to install the rom ? Does it have to be EMUI 8.0 ?
Thank you for your work on this rom!
