Oreo advanced reboot options missing? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Within the power menu there used to be an option to reboot to recovery. Have these been removed in the Oreo beta? I don't see them anymore

You need to enable the power menu in developer settings.

The option is called Advanced Reboot and has to be enabled in Developer Options first.

Solved thank you for the help!

Hi, I'm on nougat (xperia Z5) and i don't have the power menu in developer menu.
I'm on a custom Rom but based on stock firmware. I use the recovery very often and it's quite bothering to reboot manually in recovery.
Do you have any idea ??
Thanks

If the rom your using does not include it ... There are 3rd party apps that can do the job. I have used "simple reboot for rooted users" (available in the playstore) before and found it works very well.

Thanks,
I had seen that kind of app on the play store but it didn't suit me a lot.
However, I found this app "nougat/oreo quick setting" which able to add a lot of toggles in the quick setting panel.
The reboot one as every reboot possible and it's perfectly integrated in the system since it's a quick setting.

Please make sure to look at the post date, it was last year... And last year there was this option, it's only gone since ob13 which is released since 2 days, 2018...
You can do it like I described here https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...nos-beta-1-android-oreo-t3710003/post76985727 or with any other 3rd party app if you don't want to hold both buttons for some seconds.

It puts a custom recovery on your SD card which you can use to backup restore and flash roms, the app can be found on the market and does this all for you
The app also allows you to download roms, backup and flash right from the app so you don't have to even touch the recovery yourself
Root access is required
Would definitely recommend it works very well for me
it is a paid app...
its a free app, but theres also a premium license so you can download roms from within rom manager

Why does no one research before posting
Firstly it is a free app, you can choose to get premium
And no you can download roms within the free app, you don't need to pay for that, you only need to pay for ota custom roms and scheduled back UPS
Once rooted do you still need to have your GoldCard in the phone to use this?

No you do not, possibly if you choose to unroot your phone it may be required again
Also you can use it to install rom, theme, zip that is stored on your sd card!
Not sure if this is correct, I was reading a few posts about Rom manager, apparently if you were to save your apps/settings using the free version of rom manager the apps would not be updateable in the market. You would have to have the paid version of rom manager if you want to be able to update your apps. Is this correct

No. It's a bug that happens sometimes (same goes for Titanium). Usually, downloading any app from the Market solves it.

Thanks for your prompt replies here and in the general section too. I will give it a go sometime. Just looking for a decent boot animation first.

I think this is just about the most exhaustive list of boot animations as you'll find.
Which one do you guys prefer? Flashing with Rom manager or flash manually through recovery?
So if I'm right, with the app, I can just do everything from the app which I normally have to do manually by going to fastboot and recovery? It just automates the whole process of:
turning device off
hold vol down and power up
go into recovery
do whatever you would do in recovery

When you tap to flash a rom it asks if you want to wipe. You can also manually reboot into recovery and there is a wipe option in there.

Sorry for bumping this old thread.
But, I have a question.
Can Rom Manager do a FULL wipe of the system? Thus also the boot en system?

Power button options

Has anyone seen a power button mod for our tablets? I know the transformer has one. Just so that when I long press power button I can reboot or get into recovery instead of only being able to shut off the device.

Yea, check out THOR's ROM. With his ROM, you press and hold the power button and are given the options to shut down, reboot, reboot into recovery, or open his special status bar mod.
Yeah but auto brightness and rotation lock don't work on Thor ROM correct?

There's an app called RomToolbox. It's designed for phones, but, it has the boot options in the app. So far, I've ran several of the options on my 501 and haven't had but 1 fc on the animation viewer.
But the boot menu seems to work.
So it seems to function, HOWEVER, some of the options I wouldn't advise using on your tab, because it's a phone app.

Quick Boot is another app specifically for reboot options. Thor's ROM is the only one I've tried that has reboot options when long pressing the power button.

Correct, but there is a rotation lock soft key when you click on the notification tab in the bottom right. You can also manually adjust the screen brightness here too, which is what I always did even with stock ROM.
In terms of changing the model name from EPAD, I'm not sure........ I never saw a need to change that.

Widgetsoid seems to have a hot reboot option in which it skips the Acer boot screen and starts immediately with the bootanimation. SAVES A FEW SECONDS. HAVENT NOTICED ANY ILL EFFECTS WHEN IVE TRIED IT.

Recovery
Bootloader

yeah, I believe what it does is some sort of cache dump and restarts the android system only. as far as I understand. but yeah, it should save a touch of time off a full boot. I think the most used option, or at least that,s important to me, is the boot to recovery option. a real lifesaver!!!!

(Q) app to shutdown/restart phone

Hello all i know we have an app that does this for android, but I cannot find it to save my life. I've been trying to look on xda and app market and google, but no luck... I've gotten nothing but a bunch of irrelevant results, maybe my search keywords were just too common: "restart and shutdown for android" i also tried to switch around and used honeycomb, widget, power widget, and etc...
someone please help me, thank you in advance
@mythek88 - "Quick Boot" free on the market will do what you want.
quick boot works awesome, it is a widget that will power off or reboot or boot into recovery (requires root)
Also you can use TB to schedule a daily reboot (requires root)
thanks for the responses, I forgot to mention that my tablet isnt rooted yet, any app out there with reboot function that doesnt require root?

Nope, because you didn't say which options menu you were looking at or what you were trying to debug. Are you in the Settings menu? If so, have you enabled Developer options? Do you mean the Service mode debug option menu? Are you taking about a debug level somewhere or a logcat? Something else entirely?
As you didn't describe what you are looking at we can only guess. We'll assume the USB debug mode since that is the most common usage -
Settimgs > Gemeral > Developer options > Debugging: USB debugging
If you don't find the Developer options heading, then go to:
Settings > General > About device > Firmware build number
And tap on the build number until you see the message, “Congratulations you are now a developer”.
If you've already done that, I can only assume that you somehow missed that garish and prominent switch at the top of the Developer Options page.

Try disabling Developer Options with the slide switch at the top of the page.
Wait five seconds, then turn the switch back on. Then try clicking on the check box even if it still appears to be greyed out.
Before continuing, I need you to confirm that you are trying the suggested steps. Otherwise there is too much uncertainty around whether you missed a step or tried it and the result. It's not possible to see patterns developing when we have no idea if you tried the steps.
e.g.
You didn't comment or confirm that you had tried these steps

Presumably you have a stock recovery mode.
Remove the battery from your phone for a few seconds to assure that it is powered off.
Replace the battery.
Press and hold the volume up, then home, then power keys.
You can release the keys when you see the phone start to boot.
This should boot to recover mode.
Use the volume up and down keys to scroll through the on screen menu.
Use the power key to select wipe cache partition
If you still can't find this option, tell is what choices are in your recovery menu.
Let us know if you are able to wipe the cache partition or not. And if it affects the greyed out box.
.
Already wiped. Nothing changed
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The only other thing that I can suggest is a factory data reset. This can be done from the settings menu or in most variants, from recovery mode. It would default all of your user settings to remove any obscure settings or conflict that may be causing this.
You should do a backup before trying that because it would remove your settings and files. A backup would allow you to restore your information after the test.
Should the problem remain after wiping the data partition, then the prime suspect would become missing or corrupt system files. That would be fixed by reinstalling the firmware.
And by process of elimination, a problem still extant after that would inevitably be hardware based. Likely a damaged USB jack.
.
fffft, I will leave it as it is. Thanks for support

Had the same problem - resolved
I had the same problem on my Galaxy S5. What I found to be the problem was that I was using Samsung KNOX to segregate my personal information from my company email and calendar. When this was installed the company forced some security settings on my phone. When I removed Knox I was then able to access the option.
Even if you aren't using Knox, it could be security settings on your phone if you are using it for corporate emails.

FYI samsungknox.com/en/faq/can-i-use-usb-debugging-mode-device-running-knox
According to Samsung:
Having My KNOX, KNOX Express, or KNOX Premium installed disables USB debugging on the device.
KNOX Express and Premium have the ability in Admin Portal to enable USB debugging, but My KNOX does not.

[F320x]CM12] WiFi and NFC fix

I've found a workaround for the WiFi!!!
The workaround is:
1- Flash the Philz recovery ver 6.0.4.7 (thanks to @Cloudyfa and @parkjh0821) from here: http://mirror.nindi.kr.pe/rom/?loc=Recovery/LG_G2/
2- Flash CM12 ROM (build 24-12) by @parkjh0821 (http://mirror.nindi.kr.pe/rom/Android_L/LG_G2/cm-12-20141224-UNOFFICIAL-f320.zip) + Gapps
3- Clear Dalvik cache
4- Flash Supersu BETA v2.38 in recovery from here: http://www.tusfiles.net/vyrt44bcailf
5-Boot UP! Then WiFi will be working (if not try re-flashing SuperSu again)
6- Everytime the phone powers off you need to re-flash SuperSu BETA v2.38 in order for WiFi to work again
I Don't know why it works or how. It just gets the WiFi working on my device that's all I know
Press Thanks Button if this helped you
