Hi,
I have a Samsung Vibrant. As I'm in Australia, I was playing around trying to connect to another frequency via *#*#4636#*#* > Phone information. I set it to AUS and backed out (pretty sure that's all I did). Then I couldn't send any texts .... at all. Failed.
I switched back to Automatic frequency - no difference....
I have re-falshed the OS with Odin, both with the most recent 2.1 release and also with one that is supplied on the xda post "OFFICIAL T-Mo Vibrant JFD ODIN/Nandroid Backup Images" (I'm not allowed to post links) (I've still got this one installed right now). Both made absolutely no difference.
I deleted all user data... no difference.
Now I have a stock phone entirely, that will not send any text messages.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Andrew
I've noticed that SMSC is blank - I tried to set it to the right number: +61411990001, but it just returns 'update error'. So I tried 0411990001. It didn't 'do' anything, but didn't return an error. It disappeared when I backed out and came back in. it didn't fix the problem.
Is there a trick to updating the SMSC that I've missed? It seems likely to be the error??
there is also no information in 'Your Phone number', and I recall that the default way to access voicemail never worked because of 'no voicemail number on the sim card'...... does this all add up to my sim card not having the correct default information? Is there a way to fix this?
....help

Here are a few tips:
1 in mobile settings click apn and make sure there is a green circle on thee right of the name for your apn. If not just tap on the circle once and out should turn green.
2 in mobile settings, click automatic network discovery then try step 1 again
3 open mms app, press menu and go to settings. Make sure auto retrieve is checked.
Let me know if this works or not.

@crazy25000: Thanks heaps, that led me in the right direction to correct the texting issue. I had no apn at all - no options and had to add it manually. I'm not sure that it worked, but perhaps. I did get to the right settings menu to fix the smsc number though, which is great.
I still feel like my sim card is not quite right - there seems to be no default data for the carrier on the sim.
Immediate problem solved though. thanks again.
i have done the same thing while fiddling with my vibrant. sms wont send because the gateway # is blank . what i did was pop it in a friends iphone and type **5005*7672*61411990001#
(61411990001 is optus smsc # yours may be different)
then i put it back in my vibrant and viola!
altho i still cant send or recieve mms..

Glad to great it's slowly getting resolved. If you don't have an apn, click on automatic network discovery in mobile settings and it will automatically generate the correct apn for your carrier. Keep me posted because this it's relatively easy to resolve so don't stress

alright so im on the echo rom Via the verizon pf2 firmware. Selected sprint during the setup process. I have voice and messaging working. i edited the build props.... still no data. any advice anyone?
google your service providers apn settings and enter them in and if that didnt work after you did what was said i would go back and redo everything and slow down to make sure i did it all in order etc, sometimes a second run through will make it work
i hve them. the keybord im using now is messed up. some letters nd shift key re out.. i will type them up on something else nd post themwen i get min.
My experience is actually kind of strange. When I rooted my phone I actually lost the ability to edit APN. It does not show up anywhere in my phone. I had to edit the build.prop to get it working right. My messaging works but not picture messages which sucks. So I use a messaging app called 8sms and it fixes all my APN issues.
Here's my problem. I have installed the latest Nougat sm-935u on my 935v and love it's buttery smooth operation but I have a problem with my message apk. It doesn't matter which apk I install or use, they all act the same.
I am using a Straight Talk Sim running on the Verizon network. When I send a text or MMS message the message will actually send and the recipient will receive it, but on my end the message will time out and will say failed to send even though it went through. I never know if it really sent unless I call and ask if it came through and they always tell me yes.
When I go to Mobile Networks, Access Point Names, I have one listed as "Tracfone-Verizon". When I open it and choose edit access point, I can only change one line which is the APN name, "tracfone.vzwentp" all other choices are greyed out.
Is there a way to correct this?
I am having the same problem but I am on Total Wireless.
The problem fixed itself after I updated to the latest U firmware BHQ3 using Samsung Switch.
I recently lost all my APN settings after following the directions in the post linked below. I can't seem to figure out how to add APN settings back in, the little + icon that used to be there is gone, and there doesn't seem to be any kind of third party app that'll allow me to add an APN. I really don't want to completely reflash my phone for something that's typically a one minute fix. Does anyone know how to add apn settings back into this phone? Thanks.
*Edit: This is on the Verizon network.

Okay, I got it fixed. Now I'm just back to trying to figure out why I don't have VoLTE.
I rooted my oneplus 6t a couple weeks ago. My MMS messaging worked fine before I rooted. Right after rooting Oneplus updated Oxygen. I made it thru updating and keeping my root and Magisk. I have called AT&T and went over the APN settings and they are correct. I also did the *#*#4636#*#* and the tower is set up correct to LTE and also seeing the LTE on my signal strength. Anyone have any idea how to fix this. I did notice after rooting I had to reset a lot of app permissions as well as data access permissions. Maybe something I am overlooking there with a system app that doesn't have permissions. I granted Google Messages as well as my default Textra full app and data permissions. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm not very Droid savvy but I'll give as much info as I can.
Call att and make sure that your SMSC number is right when I got my 6t my texting didn't work until I called att and they told me that my phone on there sides showed as not having the ability to text so they needed to do something on there side and I need to change the SMSC number which is located in the default messaging apps settings at the bottom
I'll try that and let you know. Thank you for the reply.
