[Guide] [ROOT] Disabling the navigation bar. - OnePlus 5T Guides, News, & Discussion

I simply downloaded jOnePlusTools from playstore and found "Navigation Buttons" quick setting toggle, and it works flawlessly. I am rooted but i denied root access to jOnePlusTools in Magisk. I haven't tried it, but it should work if it works with denied superuser rights for me.

Same here. Button does nothing.

I found a great way, using xposed gestures, swipe up from bottom, just like when you swipe to show the hided navbar. Works great and efficient.
There are some other apps also can do this if you don't have xposed, like gmd gestrues, but they all need stay in background and gestures will fail if the app is killed, so I prefer xposed gestures, because it does not need stay in background.

Sure, but fortunately, I am not using apps need pass safetynet. If you need, you can try gmd gestures.

System UI crashing

Hey guys, I tried to disable the on screen buttons by adding the qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 flag to build.prop but after restarting System UI just crashes constantly. Is there something I'm missing?
I downgraded from 4.4 to 4.2.2 if that makes any difference.
No one knows anything? Can someone at least help me to restore build.prop as adb isn't connecting to the device and the ridiculous error box opens every second and doesn't allow me to do anything. Absolutely asinine the way Google designed this crap.
/edit
Nevermind, usb debugging disabled itself for some reason. I then had to remount /system/ as rw. Still, no one has come across this before?

Gravity box can add expanded desktop to power menu, so you can toggle it on or off. (The nav bar)
I keep it off to use LMT ...but if I need the navigation bar back...its just a power button and click away.

The immersive mode works well but is there a way to only hide the navigation bar?
Some of the other apps that I tried disables other apps that help with navigation like All in one gesture, etc when the navigation bar is hidden.
Here is the link for those who need it
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.leedroid.shortcutter&hl=en
Edit: Spoke too early. Press and hold gives you the options.
This is a really good app.
Going to purchase it just to show the support.
This is one of the reasons I always rooted phones.. Next is to have GMD gestures but there are alternatives that work ok.
What's the immersive mode like? Can anyone post a screenshot please?

Immersive mode is the one that does not have task bar or navigation bar.
All apps work in total full screen.

If u swipe up from the lower edge of the screen it will re appear for a couple of seconds and then goes away.
I have not used the navigation bar for the last 3 to 4 years.. Felt like a wasted space... Always used Gmd gesture control app. But that app is only for rooted devices.
For now I am using all in one gestures. Works quite well.
The screen shot shows the gestures that I have configured
Why not turn on immersive mode using adb? No apps required.

it's @tytydraco, but he himself still can't make one for Oreo, i don't think it will ever be like 0pt.navbar, at least without root.

Download the app system UI tuner. That was what I meant, I see how that was probably unclear though.

Disable the Navigation bar?

Is there a command to disable the navigation bar?
I think in build.prop, if you set the 0 to a 1, it'll remove navbar.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
To
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Make sure you do a backup before attempting this!
There's a couple of threads in the, ESSENTIAL PHONE THEMES, APPS, AND MODS, section. If you search in there, you'll probably find them.
