Hello,
Once I got this phone a year or two ago, I've found that I will need to reboot it to start receiving texts and phone calls at times.
This was on the stock ROM, I've used CM 13 and now Lineage 15 since and the behavior is always the same.
There is no indicator I've lost cell service and my data connection will work fine regardless.
Because this is my first ASUS phone and also my only phone I've ever had on T-Mobile, I don't know which of the two (possibly both?) to blame.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, was it with another carrier? Is it worth going back to stock and getting the latest updates? If I knew it would resolve the issue, I would definitely do it.
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
I'm on a Z00T (ZE551KL) if that makes a difference.
Sent from my ASUS_Z00TD using Tapatalk
Update:
Reverted back to stock and got on the latest OTA from the ASUS website, the issue still remains.
Anyone out there using this phone on T-Mobile? Its really starting to become a problem, I'm completely missing important phone calls and texts with no way of knowing until I force my bank app to send me a text, and I don't get it.
A reboot resolves the issue, I have no idea what triggers it.

I have SM-N900V (Note 3 on Verizon). Running LineageOS. If I'm home or at work no problem. An hour or two away I don't receive texts. I can send them, but until I reboot I receive no texts. After rebooting I usually get them twice. Calls seem unaffected. Did you figure out anything with your phone?

Hello,
I have a problem with my Atrix that's been bugging me ever since i bought it.
Carrier: VIVO
Country: Brazil
Current Version: CM9 jokersax build, android ICS 4.04
Symptom:
- Whenever i receive an SMS, there is a high chance (>80%) that this message will be received again. There are some messages that are received over 20 times.
- Some SMS never arrive (roughly 20% of them)
Early solution:
Back in Froyo (2.2), you could disable cell broadcast in the network configuration, and that, somehow, fixed the problem. But that is not the case now.
In later versions, specially modded versions, there is no such option to enable/disable cell broadcast. I even installed CM9 ICS with high hopes that this would fix the problem. It in fact did work, for a couple of days, then today, it began to receive repeatedly the same SMS over and over again, and some SMS were lost to the void.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Wrong, it also does this on my phone and I have AT&T

When you receive the same text message over and over it can be either your phone or a carrier (sender or receivers carrier).
If your phone is not sending a "message received" signal, the message will be repeated, sometimes for up to 72 hours before it times out with the senders carrier. In this scenario a simple reboot can sometimes fix it. In other cases you may have to pop your SIM into another phone, receive the message (at which point the phone will send the received signal), then put your SIM back in your original phone.
Messages can also get "stuck" and the senders carrier thinks the message has been received when it hasn't, and so stops repeating the message.
There's a bunch of reasons you can have SMS problems. At the end of the day it can be your phone, the senders phone, your carrier, or the senders carrier, and the fault can be hard to trace with the tools the carrier customer service reps have at their disposal.

Happened to me on AT&T once. Got the same message 25 times. Was on joxersax 4.4 if I remember correctly. Has not happened on 4.5.1
Had same problem... with ics jokersax, I started updating regularly and haven't had a problem yet

I'm currently using jokersax 4.5.1 and it is still happening.
I can only think its a problem related to the "cell broadcast" channels.
Had this happen to me when once I first flasshed Codename Android. Hasnt happened since though.
I get this from time to time when someone texts me and for whatever reason my phone doesn't have signal. Typically its because I am rebooting it or its off for some reason.
Any new messages sent from the person (almost always the wife) come across as the stuck text.
I typically pull the battery and reboot once or twice to clear it.
It seems like you have a more persistent issue though.

I had that problem too on one of jokersax builds. I tried the reboot which didn't work which could of helped the next step work when I dialed a number then ended it, that seemed to fix my problem.

Had this same thing happen to me. Rebooting would fix it sometimes

I am on Bell and I have had this problem on a few different ROMs now such as CM7 and Joker's CM9, but it does not happen very often and I have not seen this issue in some weeks now.
Hey guys,
Just want to see if anyone else has noticed an issue that has happened to me a couple times. My n4 "loses" its network connection for both received calls and sms.
Status bars indicate a good signal (no hollow triangle) and data works fine during these events. I first noticed when my neighbor came by telling me he sent me a couple messages which I never received although I had been playing with the phone all day.
After rebooting I received many sms and voicemail message indications.
The scary part is there is no way to know when it's happening. There is no indication of lost signal and data service continues to works fine - all calls just go straight to VM and no SMS or VM notifications are delivered.
Any ideas? should I return/exchange it? Thanks for any help.
here's me:
network is Tmo (happened in 2 different cities)
network status bars indicate good signal
data service continues to work ok (3g/4g)
stock, not rooted, phone is only 3 weeks old
still on 4.2.1
I've had this happen to me once don't know why though.

At first I suspected the light flow app because this happened right after installing the app. I thought maybe the app was messing with the notifications so I uninstalled it - but then problem happened again. Also, many people are using the app with no issues so i suspect my phones radio is at fault.
I think I'll RMA it. Thanks!
Crap, i just left Sprint after 11 years of service with them for the exact same reason. Started mid December and by mid Jan and several Network Trouble tickets they had no clue how to fix it and blamed it on network congestion. End of Jan i officially ported to TMO.. Hope this doesnt happen to me again..
I started a thread with similar problems, but I also loose data connection. I get a message on the notification bar about it.
In my case it only happens if I turn wifi on and leave HSPA running, so I have to switch to 2g only for the problem to disappear.
Called Tmobile and they have no clue what is causing the problem.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've used tmo for years and never had this problem before - only with the nexus 4 the last couple weeks. If this type of issue was more wide spread I think there would be more people complaining about missed calls/txt.
It sure makes me paranoid though. I am now calling my phone a couple times per day (from my work phone) and sending myself SMS messages just to be sure my phone is working.
I just updated to 4.2.2 so maybe that will help. If it happens again I'll exchange it.

What type of notification do you get? In my case there is no notificaion, the only way to tell if its happening is to place a test call or sms from another phone.
I do notice it occurs after heavy HSPA use but I havent been able to duplicate the problem. It's almost as if after heavy use of an HSPA channel the MSC location update is purged - so all calls go straight to voice mail and sms messages are queded in the SMSC (just a guess). Then after flight mode toggle or reboot location update occurs and all is good.
It happened again yesterday so I've gone ahead an ordered a replacement.
I get a triangle notice in the notification bar. And I narrow my problem with my location.
Did you ordered a new phone?

Which baseband are you on?
I was on the latest 4.2.2 update with the old .33 baseband and I couldn't make or receive calls. To be more specific, my phone was mute as the call was going through. I could not hear the ringing tone. So I flashed the new .48 baseband and it worked.
Well, what I experience sometimes is:
When I leave a WiFi connection, the phone (sometimes) wouldn't reconnect to mobile data (I can only receive calls atm). In order to reconnect it, I have to toggle airplane mode.
Kinda the opposite, but maybe the same solution can be proposed?
My temp solution is to switch to 2g only and turn on wifi. That seems to do the trick
As for baseband I'm rooted with stock rom 4.2.2 and CMW recovery

This is really annoying cause you don't know when people sends you message
It first happened to me with 4.2.2 and. 48 radio

It happened to my while i was on Xylon and now on paranoidAndroid, i'll be texting back and forth with someone, then suddenly I won't receive texts from them, and none of their texts download until a reboot. They still receive all of my texts and I receive calls just fine, so it's strange.
Any ideas how I can even troubleshoot this? I wouldn't even know how to reproduce the issue. And I don't think it's a data issue because I always have full bars when I'm home.
I've been having this issue randomly. Are you on at&t? I'm wondering if it's a network issue.

Yes I am on AT&T, but I've been with AT&T for years and not had this issue so I'm inclined to believe that it's the phone. Also I don't think I've ever had this issue before I flashed custom ROMs, but again i'm not sure.
I've had MMS issues since stock though. Sometimes they wont send, sometimes they wont download.
Thanks in advance for your help

Android Version 10

Problem :crying:
I have a rooted Oneplus 6T on Cricket. The problem I am having is SMS and MMS messages are received maybe around 75% of the time.
I have no problem sending messages.
Sometimes it will work for days without having an issue, then I'll speak to someone and they let me know the 'texted' me and I didn't respond.
It seems if I text someone and they respond fairly quickly it works. But, if a text is sent to the phone randomly, it's hit or miss if I get it.
Attempts to resolve the issue
I have tried so many things trying to resolve the issue. I have worked with Cricket Customer Care. They had me update my APN settings, They have pushed things to the phone, I have even got them to replace the SIM
I have wiped the phone and restored my data. (I am wondering if something in my data is causing the issue)
I have done a lot of testing after trying to resolve the issue and I'll think it's resolved then a few days later it will reoccur.
When did problem Occur
I believe it began when I updated to Android 10
I have did several updates since the issue has occurred and the problem still exist.
I have so many things on the phone that I use daily that I don't won't to wipe without restoring. However maybe when I restore the data, maybe I am restoring the problem.
Thanks so much,
Jamie
I had my op6t on cricket when it launched. I had nothing but problems, with this phone and my previous one. SMS in my case refuses to send to certain people. Issues were never resolved. Fixed the problem by switching to a decent provider. Unfortunately you get what you pay for with cricket. And in my case I get a much better plan on Verizon for only $10 more. Try another phone with your sim see if problems persist if they do you know it's on them not on you.
Hi bladestonez,
Thanks for the response.
My OP6T worked great on Cricket for a year and a half until an update. ,
The annoying part is I can't tell if the issue is resolved for days and with all the apps and data I use on the phone it's a major incontinence to switch to another phone temporarily.
I'm debating on loading a stock ROM and then restoring data. But, I don't want to restore the problem, if it is somewhere in my data.
I'm looking for advice on what to do and what to restore to ensure the problem isn't restored.
Thanks

If your talking about restoring data via twrp from one rom to another you cannot do that. Back up individual apps and their data only using a backup and restore app. Data is not universal between ROMs and will cause major issues, all flashing procedures call for wiping data.
Thanks.
Do you think there best way to ensure nothing is corrupt on the phone is to install stock rom, then restore with titanium backup or something?
Is there a possibility it would restore the problem?
Thanks

Did you ever get them to fix it? Or did you switch carriers?

Yea they fixed it I think for a while I had to put my phone in airplane mode for a few minutes to get all the missed messages. Anyway I think they fixed it I ended up breaking my phone a couple days later and getting a new one so...
I'm hoping somebody has experienced this before and found a fix and can help me out...
All day I've been struggling to send SMS messages... I'm on 11.0.1.1, magisk rooted, with RICE installed. Everything was working great but today when i woke up, i was unable to send SMS messages...
I'm receiving them, but sometimes they are delayed and i get a few at a time with nothing coming in again for a short time after that, but i've made no changes to my phone in the last 2 days. I've rebooted a few times between then and now (twice yesterday, just because), so i cant really understand why i would just randomly be unable to send text messages or why they are received in bursts like this?
I've gone in and reset my "Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth" settings from within the reset options, and this appears to fix the issue, but only for a minute or so and suddenly they stop sending again... I thought maybe its the tower, so i used my daughters phone to text my wife and that worked perfectly fine. Immediately before and after, mine wouldnt send.
Any ideas, links, or guidance that might help me figure this out?
Since there's been some updates and no responses to my thread, i wanted to revisit this and see if i'm still the only one on earth with this issue.
The issue seemed to have completely gone away on its own, no idea why or how... But a couple weeks ago i decided to install the update to 11.0.2.2 on my IN11AA. Ever since, my phone will randomly stop receiving SMS messages completely. I can still send, just cant receive. The only way to fix this is to reboot.
Anyone else with this issue? Anyone find a reason for this? A fix perhaps?

Seeming this issue doesn't seem to be widespread, could be a carrier side issue?
It's a shame we don't have dual boot capabilities because you could have switched to stock and checked.
Also try a secondary SIM from maybe someone in your household and send using that SIM and see what happens.
I know there are delays after rebooting, I do a lot of magisk module work and every reboot try sending notifications using SMS or some other methods and I get around 3 mins no send or receive but not at the length you do.

I just had the issue again yesterday. Wife and I started texting eachother at about 8am, except, i didnt receive any of her messages until 5:30pm when she got home and told me she had been texting me. I rebooted 3 times, which once usually resolves the issue but not this time. I had to go into the settings and reset my WiFi/Mobile/Bluetooth settings, then it worked immediately.
Because of the solutions, i wouldnt think its a sim issue, but im going to test it anyway. I've factory reset a few times in the past and i still get the issue. I've had the issue while rooted and not rooted. Four of us have phones, 3 are Samsung and then there's mine, and mine's the only one with the issue.

What SMS app are you using? I wonder if you have enabled RCS messaging the new Google style messaging? Because maybe it uses WiFi to download some of the SMS, and if your carrier doesn't support it maybe you only receive it when you are on WiFi.
Try on WiFi then try just on mobile data and see if you notice.
I attached a photo check the top setting. Google might be persisting your setting (if you are using Google messages)
Also why don't you and your wife try a simnswap next time you happen and you are both at home, if your wife doesn't receive it then it's sim/network related.

I'm using Google Messages, and yes i do have RCS enabled. I dont believe thats the case though because the messages that are blocked are sometimes just an "ok" message. I'm almost always on WiFi though too.
The primary issue with sim swapping with my wife is that we would need to swap sims for up to 2 weeks since sometimes I have no issues for 2 weeks, then i get the issue once or twice a day for three days. The worst part (for me anyway) is that her screen is SHATTERED on her phone (she's using a Note10+) and its hard to see anything, so i've been trying to get her to get a new phone. I think we might be FINALLY upgrading her (after 5 months) to an S21 Ultra, so maybe we'll give that a shot there.
I'm actually wondering if it has something to do with messages for web. I've noticed that the issue only really happens after using that, but.. It doesnt always happen after using messages for web, so it might just be a coincidence.
I'm pretty sure its not Google Messages, or RCS, and fairly certain its not messages for web, because i used to use Signal only, and i still had the issue a few times.

When you say "ok" are you just sending short messages or the suggested replies by Google?
I had problems with auto reply in notifications for a while.
Tbh I just use telegram or signal becuase they don't require being connected to the device directly when using the web/desktop versions.
Yeah swapping for 2 weeks isn't great!
Interesting you had this issue with signal too, sounds like Google cloud messaging (needed for any app push notifications and messaging) is in a standby mode.
You got naptime or servicely installed? Shame no one else is seeing this issue might be easier to diagnose
