Hi All,
I just updated to OOS 4.5.14 - running stock everything, except TWRP and rooted. Didn't make a backup since generally updating stock has been painless and shouldn't cause major problems.
Initially noticed when I was receiving texts, they were coming up in the wrong threads. It would be from that person, but in someone else's message thread. Thought Android messenger might be derping, so I uninstalled and reinstalled, and then the only messages that existed on the phone were things I'd gotten in the half hour since the update. Everything else has magically disappeared - looked in other SMS programs and no luck, those are all gone too.
Is there any way to fix this or am I just screwed?
I think your messages are gone. I agree there usually aren't major bugs but the chance is still there. But atleast you got a good lesson about importance of making backups.

What a pain in the ass. So far I haven't seen anyone else encounter this. I'm going to downgrade and see if that helps at all but I'm not holding my breath...
That's true. I didn't have any problems while updatin 4.5.13 -> .14 but as you see now, everything is possible. They didn't write backup note as a joke to instructions

I have installed several of the 2.1 roms out there. Each one that i install causes my phone to randomly restart. Is this a common issue with anyone else? As soon as I go back to 1.5, the restarting stops.
I am having the same issue on the stock 2.1. The only answer I have gotten from HTC is hard reset. But I have already done this twice. So I am going to root my phone and hopefully get rid of this problem. It only started after I updated to 2.1.

Silly question perhaps, but are you completely wiping data and dalvik cache before flashing any of these 2.1 ROMs? Sometimes this happens if you don't do a full wipe before installing new ROMs.
I'm having the same issue, and I did a full wipe, installed several different roms and finally settled on aloysius
i've had the same problems with every 2.1 rom with the exception of darchdroid.
for me it usually happened after i placed a phone call and tried to hang up
and yes everything was wiped before flashing....
im having the same issue i knew i wasnt the only one, has anyone figured out why this is???
I am getting that error trying to install ZenEXP.
Same issue here, only mine's been doing it out of the box, as I got mine the day the EVO was released. I've rooted it and attempted to install several ROMs hoping to get rid of the issue, but had no luck so far. Never had the luxury of having 1.5, as mine came with 2.1, so I just thought it was the phone, honestly. Interesting to know the issue doesn't occur with 1.5...
Anybody got a copy of the stock 1.5 from original release? I'd like to give it a shot.
I do not have any issues that have been listed here. I am running fresh rom and everything is working great.Just wanted to make sure all views arebeing represented in this thread
hmmm....had a thought, did the phone get really hot when it happened....cause that is what happened when i was on fresh....

You won't be able to go back to the stock 1.5 original. That has been tried already by a bunch of developers here and it didn't work. You would probably be able to flash a 1.5 ROM (browse way back into the Development pages forum here), but since you had stock 2.1, there's no way for you to go back to stock 1.5.
For all the rest of you, not sure why you are getting random reboots, but as mentioned in the previous post, sometimes the Heros do that when they get overheated or overworked. It would be best to root and start with a very stable, non-overclocked ROM. A couple of the most stable and reliable stock-based ROMs here in this section are DamageControl 2.09.1 and nfinitefx45's Stock 2.27.651.6. I recommend you try either of those out if you haven't already -- hopefully that will fix/solve some of your troubles.
Please report back if any if you have success or more problems with these...we want to make sure you get the help you need
overheating is defiantly not whats causing my restarting. im not trying to thread hijack so ill provide a link to the thread i started about this same issue. in my thread i have attached bug reports (i think thats what they are) and now i have stopped receiving help just when i provided the info needed to see whats casuing this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684727
Im not any good at code so i cant read the big reports well. but i believe its a hardware issue because there is a small presentage of people having these errors and i cant seam to get anyone to be able to reproduce this if it doesnt happen to them.

Sorry, I don't understand much of the code myself. And I think a handful of our devs here who understand all that coding have already moved on to the EVO. I read your other thread too but don't know what else to suggest. Wish I could help more. You could just be one of the unlucky few who got a bad, buggy phone right out of the box.
Have you thought about just calling Sprint customer service and asking for a replacement phone? Certainly with all the trouble you're having it may be worth it. I think even if you don't have the insurance plan, a replacement phone is only around $35.
@chromiumleaf, yeah sadly i think its time for a different phone.
My phone has started to reboot during calls since I updated. It is usually calls over 10 minutes. Anyone else got this problem? What do I do about it?

This is actually a known bug that existed pre-2.3.2 update for many of us.
It's only happened to me twice since I got the phone on 12/16, after the 2.3.1 update, and it hasn't happened since the 2.3.2 update, but others (like you) who never experienced it, have reported experiencing it now since the update.
I've seen a couple say they were going to go back to their 2.3.1 nandroid backups to see if it fixes it for them, but I haven't noticed reports one way or the other.
Google is aware of the issue, they have twice said they have a fix they're testing for it (last time was last Friday), so all we can really do is hope they figure it out and push the fix ASAP.
Check the search button if you want more on this...there's already a major thread about it in either this or the Q&A forum. It shouldn't be too hard to find, but I've pretty much summed up the whole thread...

I've searched and all I can find is the backlight not working. That's not my issue. The buttons don't light and nothing happens when I press them. I flashed CM to see if it was just a software issue. They still don't work at all. Any idea how I might possibly be able to address this? Don't think variant matters but it's the G900R4 if anyone's interested.
Solved. I bit the bullet and did a full restore to stock w/ Odin. I haven't the slightest idea what got grumpy but it was something that lived through wiping the usual stuff. Glad I had enough sense to do a backup just before doing all this.
Lesson of the day: Always maintain a current backup. You never know when you might have to send it to hell and start fresh.
Verizon pushed out the lollipop update recently and I updated mine Feb 4.
Immediately afterwards I started having problems. The phone is overheating, closing/freezing apps randomly and showing a com.sec.imsservice has stopped error so frequently my phone is frequently not even able to be used. I am also having some mobile data connectivity issues. I don't know how many of these things are related to just one issue. The combination of them are giving me such hardcore battery drain that my phone is dead in about 2-3 hours from 100%.
Things I have already done so far...
Uninstalled facebook messenger
cleared cache for aVVRU1BOA8ll apps
uninstalled apps I am not using
I have searched several forum sites about this matter. Some people have said a factory reset has helped them, while others are saying it didn't make any difference at all.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated. I have attached about phone screenshots.
After a major system update I ALWAYS perform a reset just to make sure all the old OS data is gone. It helped my phone tremendously this go round.
I am calling this resolved!

Well, I am happy to say that the reset helped me a lot actually. =) Thank you! =) I have no idea why it has helped some and not others but oh well. It did help me so I am happy!
Hi, After Each call i make, my oneplus 2 device sends a strange SMS to an unknown number. i only get network notification about how much my sms cost. and it's damn expensive. please is there any inbuilt software i need to disable? this is eating all my call credits with time and i can't figure out what exactly is sending this sms and where exactly it is going.
Immediately After making calls, i see 'Sending' on my screen, then after i get a network confirmation about how much charge on the just sent SMS.
I am on stock firmware, no root and only WhatsApp installed apart from stock google apps. I did several factory resets but problem is still there.
Please Help.

Are you rooted? This is likely caused because you have installed an malicious app....
I make a factory reset and reinsall a new firmware.
Sounds like you rooted your phone with some shady Chinese rooting software. Better download OxygenOS 2.2.1 zip and install TWRP and then format system and data partition and then reflash the OxygenOS zip to get a clean system. If whatever is sending these SMS messages is installed on the system partition, factory restore using settings menu will probably not remove it.
This seems to be some user installed malware

True that is, never heard of such a thing as an SMS trojan. Factory restore and check if it still persist. You could try installing free Eset antivirus and do a scan for viruses and trojans to see if it finds it.
OR.. your a cheating and about to get busted!
Hope your not married!
Did you buy your phone from store or second hand?

Problem Solved Some-how
well after sleepless nights of researching and trying to investigate what exactly the issue is, i never got the solution directly, but rather noticed the problem is with oxygen os, i even downgraded to oxygen os 2.0, 2.1xxx till the latest version and the sms problem still existed even without root and any app installed except stock.
Here is what happened : i noticed the problem is within oxygen os itself, as i strongly believed an in-built app is collecting data analysis and sending them to a remote contact, i have no idea what kinda app it is exactly but i solved this problem after rooting my device, installing custom recovery and installing Android Iced Cold Project custom firmware. wowowow!! it was fast, smoother, sweet and a lot of customization. and hell yeah!! no strange sms after each call i make. i tested it over a week and i never experienced what i was experiencing on the stock oxygen os.
Last year, i bought the Gionee Elife E7 and i experienced same issue, it was sending sms to a strange number and it was really consuming my call credits, luckily, on the developers forum, the issue was addressed and an app was pointed to be disabled or removed after rooting and that solved the problem back then. On My Oneplus 2, i was hoping it should be the same case but unfortunately it appears i am the only one experiencing this issue. and well i strongly believe others might be out there experiencing this. i bought my device from indian market, (amazon.in) and i on a holiday in Ghana, and using it on Vodafone Gh mobile network.
as it stands now, i am happy on the AICP custom rom but this is a serious issue on oxygen os and i think it needs to be checked.
Hope this informs...
