When I pair my Mi A1 with my car via Bluetooth and play music, my car won't display status information of the music (title, artist, album ...). This is definitely Mi A1's problem because my Nexus 5X has no issues at all with the same music APP. And I've tried different music APPs on Mi A1 and they behaved all the same.
After some google and I found that it requires the Bluetooth to support AVRCP profile (version 1.3 and above) in order to show the music information. And some old Bluetooth chips do not support it, like Qualcomm CSR8610 for example.
And I was wondering if this is a common problem? If so, is this a software bug that we can hope Xiaomi could fix it in the future patches, or that the hardware simply doesn't support it and I should give up the hope.
------------Update---------------
Just upgraded to Android 8 and the problem is solved!!
It works perfectly with my pioneer head unit. Shows all the artist, song, etc info.

Hello,
I have exactly the same issue with my VW Scirocco from 2011.
It was working perfectly with with MI5.
Is there any official way to submit those kind of issues to XIAOMI ?

XIAOMI does have an official forum, but I don't how responsive it is. I have used the phone's built-in feedback app to submit the issue.

Hi,
has anyone got issues with Bluetooth audio? When I connect my note 4 to my car (vw golf mk7) it just say bluetooth audio on screen while playing the track without any track info or the ability change track from the cars controls which all worked fine on my note 3.
is it missing features? I have checked all the bluetooth settings but still the same issue.
I have used samsung music player as well as my default poweramp one.
I have the X note rom on mine.
Any feed back appreciated
Thanks

I'm having similar problems where the display doesn't show any information, but my controls on the steering wheel are working. The display issues are only in my Honda Pilot though, they show perfectly in my wife's Honda Fit. Fortunately I only have about 6 months left on the lease so I'm hoping a newer vehicle with newer firmware will solve the issue if no one on here knows what's happening...
I might try look at updating the vw mk7 software and see if that helps.
Has the same problem too mk7 golf pair up note 4 will not change songs at all stock rom here i have... the note 4 has alot of problems even youtube cant play anything higher then 720p
so. It's known issue must be bluetooth version 4.1

I have a mk7 golf, latest firmware updated 2 days ago, with a note 4 running 4.4.4 and I have exactly the same problem.
So frustrating, as my note 2 still works fine.
I have 63 plate Renault Captur, and iphone 5s, HTC One M7 and M8 all show correct info. Note show's nowt.
after a bit of digging around i discovered the issue is related to the note using newer version of the avrcp within bluetooth which does all the multimedia bit.
In the note its version 1.5 while all other manufacturer still use v1.3
I have read that samsung said they would revert back to avrcp version 1.3 in the next update but don't hold me to that.
Thanks
Next update, then Android Lollipop?
Also, I found this on wikipedia, it says that the 1.5 is backwards compatible. Why Note 4 not?
1.0 — Basic remote control commands (play/pause/stop, etc.)
1.3 — all of 1.0 plus metadata and media-player state support
The status of the music source (playing, stopped, etc.)
Metadata information on the track itself (artist, track name, etc.).
1.4 — all of 1.0 and 1.3 plus media browsing capabilities for multiple media players
Browsing and manipulation of multiple players
Browsing of media metadata per media player, including a "Now Playing" list
Basic search capabilities
Support for Absolute volume
1.5 — all of 1.0, 1.3 and 1.4 plus specification corrections and clarifications to absolute volume control, browsing and other features

I have this issue with my Note 4 and Alpine CDE-133BT, GS2, GS3 and GS4 works fine.
But also iPhone 6 commands don't work.
Opel Astra Sport Tourer 2014 same problem
I can confirm this problem with my Audi A3 (8V, built in 2013). My previous Note2 worked like a charm, now I can use the phone functionality, but I can't select any songs from the phone memory or use functions like Play, Pause, Skip etc.
Has anyone checked whether with Lollipop has anything changed?
Any news on this topic? Would love to listen to music from my phone in my car again
I tried a while ago with the latest 5.0.1 (ITV BOC5) and the problem persists.
Hey everyone!
I'm having an issue that I can't seem to resolve. I have a Galaxy S5 that recently received the lollipop update. Prior to this update when playing music from Google Play Music the track/artist metadata would pass and show up on my car's stereo display. Post update I can still connect, play music over bluetooth, and control the music with steering wheel/dash controls, but the metadata no longer displays (using Google Play Music).
I did some different tests and if I play a mp3 file from the stock music app the metadata is passed. I also connected my wife's phone ( Moto X still on KitKat) and tried streaming music though GP Music and the metadata shows up as expected. I've tried deleting/pairing my phone again and even did a factory reset on my S5 last night, but nothing seems to resolve this.
I know there seems to be hit or miss with AVRCP. I haven't been able to find much in terms of actual information and thought I'd check in to see if anyone has had a similar experience or would possibly have a solution.
Thanks!
I am also having the same issue. Sprint basically told me that it isn't their problem and to wait it out. I've downloaded suggested apps and everything else except doing a hard reset.
MP3 metadata not showing over Bluetooth in car - T-Mobile
I just updated to the latest release for my Galaxy S5, Lollipop, and everything seems to work like a champ, except the streaming of music from my phone to my car's in-dash receiver. Prior to the upgrade, everything worked great. All metadata was passed along, as well as the track progress, and skip forward and backward. After the update, the music will play just fine, but I cannot skip tracks from my car stereo or steering wheel controls any more, I have to do it from my phone. Also, none of the metadata is passed along to my stereo.
I use the stock music app on my phone, but I also tried the Google Play Music app, and it does the same thing. The MP3 files are all stored locally on my SD card.
I'm hoping someone else out there has had this problem, and has solved it. Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem. After the lolipop upgrade of S5 I was not able to see the track/artist name on the display of my car anymore. However the there is no problem with streaming of music to car speakers. I'm using spotify but I tried playing mp3 files and different applications. None of them worked. Car display only shows the device name of the S5. I contacted Samsung support with the hope to get an answer and the first thing they asked was whether I tried the device with another bluetooth capable device. No way! I have another car but no bluetooth capability. Recently Samsung deployed another update after lolipop upgrade but the same again.
Having the artis/track name; does it contribute too much? won't make you fly but it was there when we had the kit kat on S5 and missing at the moment. Yes I have the same problem but don't have a resolution... Would be great to hear different ideas or a workaround from Samsung!
Thanks.
Same problem here on my Galaxy S5 with TW Lollipop. I'm so disappointed about all the stuff that changed (e.g notifications) or does not work like Bluetooth avrcp. I start to regret the update to LP. And I wated over a year...
A temporary fix could be to download Music mate from the app store, (it can pull songs from play music onto your device). Not sure if this would help you guys as it seems some of you have already got local access to the mp3s etc.
Just thought I'd say anyway just incase.
Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion. Music Mate needs a Google Play account which I don't have. I tried another suggested app which should fix this temporary (Bluetooth something) but it did not work. Which I had suspected because the root cause seams to be AVRCP 1.5 inside Android Lollipop instead of older backward compatible versions 1.3 or 1.4. The suspicion is that Google's engeenier didn't have older / legacy / enough different Bluetooth car cits to test. Compiling the source code with a compiler switch, which disables AVRCP 1.5 leads to working meta information. Because Bluedroid is a new proprietary stack newly build by Google it doesn't help to have its source open. There is no APK which we can exchange with a working older version. Instead it seams to be compiled into core components of Android. So the only two chances seams to be:
1. Samsung / Your Handset provider pushes an update which fixes this
2. somebody finds a way through XPOSED to patch the relevant stuff into a life Lollipop.
Hello everyone, I am borrowing a oneplus 2 from a friend while my phone is in for repair, I have had it for about 12 hours now and have found an issue with the Bluetooth, when connected to my car (its a JVC aftermarket stereo) it loses connection every 30 seconds. I have tested the JVC with my girlfriends Sony xperia m2 aqua and it works flawlessly, has anyone else had this issue?? And if so, how did you fix this?
Thanks
Yeah I dont have connectivity issues but I don't get any audio controls through my car or song info. I think it is all software related issues.
Sent from my ONE A2005 using Tapatalk
I can report that the oneplus 2 have problems connecting to MB car audio system. Phonecalls work but music from the phone to the car don't work. It is a new MB c-class 250.
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
I also have BT problems with my car. My car has BT for phone calls only, so I also use a BT to 3.5mm adapter to my aux input. When I connect to both, it keeps pausing my music every 5 seconds. Once I disconnect from the car BT, then the music plays fine. Very annoying. No problems with any of my other phones.

@Mackis Haven't tested music on mine, but I have a 3 month old MB A180 special edition. Voice working 100% I use the usb port in the car and play music from the usb drive. Much better than bluetooth, you can change folders etc, were you cant on bluetooth!
I'm experiencing the same issues. I'm an authorized dealer for Volkswagen and Škoda and cross-tested several radios this morning. Very annoying.
I have a Clarion fz709 and the OPT works great with it on BT. The radio is old as dirt too. Works for calls and music.

Several issues on BT here, too. The connection to an Audi MMI and phoning working properly, but no audio controls or Phonebook synchronization. In a german board the app Bluetooth Phonebook is reported to solve the problem with the synchronization. Will check that later on today.
hi, i've bluetooth problems too. audio and calls are perfect, but my contacts are not transferred in the radio... this is so uncomfortable! anyone have same problem?

These are two different issues with BT and car radio:
case 1: can not or not correctly sync contacts (in my case all numbers where labled 'mobile' and some where missing).
case 2: no support for audio control while playing or no playing at all
possible solution for case 1:
( all credits for discovering this app goes to psychonaut at Android-Hilfe.de Forum )
First check out the trial version to test if it fixes your problem!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android_rsap.irmctest
If yes then go buy the full version:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android_rsap.irmc
There may be a solution for case 2 but I do not know of any nor can I test it because the Parrot Asteroid (Android Car Radio) works without a problem for case 2.

Hi,
with my Renault Megane 2010, the RadioSat, now, Works fine, after the update to 2.1 OxygenOs.
My Bluetooth problems gone away.
Now I have full functional hands free system. Tanks Oneplus.

Yes! I also can confirm my posting from Sunday, that the App Bluetooth Phonebook solves the issue of not transferring the phonebook (at least for my Audi MMI).
Problems with Volkswagen Discover Media Pro too:
- address book not syncing
- cannot play audio
- not able to make calls
however:
- i can see text messages (SMS)
- i can see the call list/history (obviously i only see telephone numbers, not the contact names, since the address book is not syncing)

My new Skoda Octavia isn't working with Oxygen OS 2.1.0. Connection works for 5 seconds and then the whole thing hangs. Good-news is that this is indeed software related as CM12.1 CustomRom from Garak works with Contacts/Spotify/Telephony

Indeed: different rom (SlimLP for me) works flawless. Calling, text messages, play music, everything.
Now let's see how stable it is and how the battery lasts.
I wonder if the build.prop fix mentioned above works. Hope we can get some confirmation about that. That would be a good alternative.
Phonebook sync doesnt work for me either, but music and controls do - no song infos, but my car never showed those. Kia ceed 2015.
Hi Guys, could not find a thread, So thought I'd create a new one.
I am currently using a TWN H815 and using stock Android 6.0 from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/stock-h815-20a-stock-rom-t3233049
Current Bugs I have found. (will update if people comment more)
-AD2P on Car stereos does not work. Can not show artist or album/track etc. - Confirmed with Spotify + Google Music, So I do not think it is an app issue but more a bug with Android 6 Lg G4.
-When Bluetooth disconects, music continues to play and takes a while stop, Bad, because you jump out of car and you are a walking stereo for 10 seconds and everyone stares at you!
Anyy others?
I do not confirm those two bugs. I have Panasonic MVH-X370BT installed in one of my cars (second one does not have AD2P capability) and MVH-X370BT shows artist/track/album info using Google Music on every track change. Also, music is stopped on BT disconnect and source change in car radio.

KDZ is not flashable via LG Flash Tool, only via TWRP or FlashFire!!!
Don't have those issues either I'm afraid. You just have some issues with your phone by the sounds of it. Music stops on disconnect and displays all ID3 tag info over bluetooth. Running Genisys ROM 2.6 Marshmallow.

It's 100% LG fault. It must be a problem with metadata coding. My car used Android code and most cars uses Android music service to show metadata. Music service doesn't work on my watch. Only android code. So I think this is an issue. Not working music service. Check in your car Bluetooth settings if it has something like song data or something similar

Hi,
I've purchased the Joying New Developed Zlink Box about 6 months ago.
I'm trying to use it with iPhone X - carplay with wired cable connection.
I'm having several major problems:
1. Huge delay during phone conversations. When I am speaking the other party hears me with delay of 3-4 seconds, which make that unusable.
2. When I'm trying to use Waze (or any navigation software) and listen to any audio source on the iPhone (Spotify, internal music, podcasts etc.) and I'm on the navigation screen, the audio is very fragmented. I have to switch to the audio app screen, otherwise I can't listen to the audio source.
I've Contacted Joying support. They wrote me that the problem is software issue, and not a hardware issue. They sent me 2 updated, but the situation remains the same.
They wrote that they are working on a solution.. for 3 months already.
Do you think that is a hardware or software issue?
Can I use any of the updates currently available on other threads on XDA forums?
Does the other adapters works better, or have their own problems?
I'm attaching screenshots of the current version of both the zlink box and the zbox app.
Thanks!
Anyone?
How are you contacting them?
Hi,
I have experienced audio conversion issue, sound quality is very poor, after a full reset, everything seem better for me. Hope it can help. Sorry for my bad English.
By full reset do you mean you in install the app and re install it ?
