if you are talking about Android Webview package... you can simply update it via Google play store or if it fails try downloading it via Apkmirror and manually updating it if not work. Remove it and install it as normal app.

Uninstall the Xposed module you've enabled.
Then remove WebView folder from /system/app or /system/priv-app and then reboot.
Then search for WebView in play store or get it from apkmirror. I haven't tested this on CM, but there shouldn't be any problem. And always take a backup before.

You can simply open a browser as the browsers use WebView. However, some browsers use their own WebView and I think might work even without the one from system.
So, search for Naked Browser in Play Store or Google and install it. This browser use the WebView installed in phone and if the WebView doesn't work, then the browser will force close.

How to install Xposed on your Snapdragon S8+
I want to thank the man @elliwigy for making root happen!
I also want to thank @ErnyTech for making Xposed happen also!
Now it's time to share how to install this bad boy on Snapdragon S8+
First, you will need is flash fire and root to make this work!
Make sure you download these files to get Xposed to work people it's an easy way to work
1.https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=25965
2.https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0B8N7MRg8VIZRMVN5eFVEdGdoaFU
Make sure you get the updated version for link number 1
Installed apk first then in flash fire make you put Android Nougat SDK24 7.0 into the flash zip or ota section
MAKE SURE! you dont check auto-mount and mount/system read/then just hit the check on the top right corner
After let it do its magic and hit flash and ones it boots back up Xposed should be working

Well, I'm officially getting old I guess...
Was hoping to see if root cloak works and I see that hasn't been supported for a while. So, I went ahead and uninstalled using the uninstaller.zip arm64 for sdk 24, most recent version.
Anyone wondering;
Uninstalling, for me, went just as easy as installing.
Sounds like everything, for 7.0+ is still in beta/testing by rovo so do all this at your own risk.

I don't see the point in uninstalling because root clock doesn't work though, eitherway you can't use Knox or SafetyNet so might as well have Xposed.
Also there is another module called No Device Check which lets you use simpler apps like Snapchat, Mario Run, Pokemon GO etc... no Android Pay though.

Will try that. I think what happened is that too many entries is on the hosts file. I am trying to use the masterlist from a thread here. I want to restore hosts file but ES file and root explorer can't delete or rename it
non-rooted using blockada with energized and steve black host scripts and adguard dns selected works just fine for me,However this non root thing is a bit new to me,I usually have always unlocked and rooted all previous devices prior to the 6T,but I don't see a reason to do so on the 6t so far.it is quick and great battery life etc..well with exception of missing TB and I more used to adaway.

I use AdGuard. Works great, full blocking with or without Root.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
Non-rooted, using Torguard paid VPN with their ad blocking DNS set within the settings. Works very well. I was a compulsive rooter and was using AdAway butt this works fine and no root needed.
Firefox with uBlock origin, simple and effective, no root necessary
Energized basic list, no issue so far
Adguard. Just got a lifetime license for eight bucks for their holiday sale. Once you've got it set up, forget it. Works better than any other method I've used, because unlike adaway and others, adguard actually blocks elements in pages so you can't even tell there's an ad that's supposed to be there. You can export/import your settings if you reset or change phones. It has per-app settings, too. There's a reason it isn't free but it's worth every penny imo.
Is that holiday sale still going on? I need to find that link and get that

Hi there
Past week I had to replace my defunct HTC, my first choice was a OnePlus, but due to budget reasons, I bought a Xiaomi Mi 9T instead. MIUI annoyances aside, I noticed that now youtube is riddled with ads, it is almost unusable. I am watching the same channels I used to before, but now it has like 4 or 5 times more ads.... did you noticed this same behaviour? is it normal?
Thanks.

Yeah, I went that route and so far is being a pain in the arse. In order to install the split apks with SAI, I had to disable MIUI optimizations in developer options, and after re-enabling them, now my apps permissions are all messed, I found out whatsapp would't show my contacts name anymore, to discover that every permission had been revoked. That happened to lots of other apps, some of them will ask for them the next time I launch them, but others will just not work properly, and now I have to figure out everything. And on top of that, with Vanced I have to give up my Google credentials If I want to have access to my histoy, subscriptions and so on.
I wish I spent couple hundreds more in a OnePlus or a Pixel, I would save it in pain...
Thanks.
installed vanced this week and none of ypur problems was present.
youtube is private company, so they do what they want basing on your internet profile. some videos have 20 ads and some have jist one

Actually there is YT Vanced apk (root not required) abd YT Vanced module for Magisk.
Both block ads in YT, apk does not fully work with YT accounts, module does work with YT accounts
As answered earlier yes: AdAway (needs root but) modifies hosts file and hence it DOES NOT block ads in YT - it has been discussed and confirmed/explained many times in XDA AdAway thread (also in DND66 thread that also modifies DNS but through VPN and does not require root)

Hi,
I have tried installing Youtube Vanced but it always say App not installed. Vanced manager and Vanced micro og install just fine. Why is YT Vanced not installing?
Thanks
MIUI doesn't support installation of split apks.
The newer versions of YouTube (or Vanced) uses split apks.
You can try to turn off MIUI optimization (might cause issues).
Or just install the old version 14.21.54 of YouTube Vanced, I am using this old version, and it still works well.

YouTube Vanced 14.21.54 uses a single apk for installation, so it can be installed without disabling MIUI optimization.
I had the same problem, just turn off MIUI optimization while you are installing the app, and then turn it on. No problems, and the app works flawlessly
Youtube Vanced itself works but no problem with continuous notification "Keep microG in background"?
I can't get over this, even if battery optimization for microG is disabled, and of course MIUI optimization too. After reboot it returns again and again optimization is enabled.
It doesn't matter if I lock MIUI optimization or leave it unlocked.
Edit: FYI - MIUI Global 12.0.8.0 QJFEUXM
