Hello,
I have disabled a bunch of packages using BK Disabler and now my gallery isn't working. If someone could look through my packages and possibly know what's stopping it I would be grateful.
Thanks.
Looks like you disabled the factory camera app (<string>com.sec.factory.camera</string>)
The camera app and gallery app seem to be intrinsically linked. I also played around with removing a load of Samsung apps (via root), and managed to break gallery.
I'm just having a 'stab' here, but that was the only thing that jumped out at me.
Out of interest, how is your phone performing? - Looks to me like you have removed quite a few critical system apps.

I found the problem. It wasn't 'com.sec.factory.camera' as that is a camera test thing, the camera is 'com.sec.android.app.camera'. It was CMHProvider.
The phone is performing great, my battery life has jumped to around 6 hours SOT.
It was CMHProvider indeed, who knew!
Thx Buddy!

Need some help. I've installed a speedometer app (switch that lights up the console in my truck went bad) and am having trouble getting rid of the icons in the app drawer. So far I've tried to reinstall the app and uninstall it with no luck. It doesn't show up in titanium after uninstalling the app. I can't find an apk after uninstalling the app. Any help?
What app? Can you back into the play store and install it that way?

Sorry. Forgot details. Locked bootloader, rooted running gpe ROM thru safestrap. Digihud speedometer is the app spedo app
I could upgrade nova launcher or use another launcher to hide the problem. And I would go insane knowing I didn't fix it.

Interesting app, it looks cool but it really f'd up my device. I could uninstall it with tibu but it left something behind. Do you have a nandroid you can restore? Do a wipe before restoring the nandroid. That was the only way I got my device back to normal

Well ****.
Hi, developer here
Hi guys, ok this is something I've not seen whilst testing it on the few physical devices I have and in the emulator. I'm not sure what's happening here but obviously I'm keen to help if I can.
The app has two main parts, the full screen display and a windowed view that is shown in front of other apps, the latter runs as a service. Both parts have settings in the manifest to enable them to be launched from icons and two icons are created when the app is installed. Whenever I've uninstalled the app both icons have been removed from the app drawer. My devices are mostly but not all rooted.
Feedback has been mixed about whether two icons are needed; some people don't want the window icon and ask how it can be removed, others like it so they can call it with other apps like AutomateIt. Because the majority of feedback was against it I've removed it from the paid version of the app...but now there are requests to have it again. Hopefully my solution will be to be able to install a shortcut if required.
Sorry, back to your problem! I'm surprised TIBU doesn't remove it if I'm honest, although the Android uninstall should remove it all. There's nothing unusual or malicious in the code (i'm really not that clever!) to prevent it uninstalling.
If a link to a particular version of the .apk helps let me know and I'll post it if I can.
I'll do some more testing and see what I can find and post anything useful here.
Sorry for the hassle.
James
Would a catlog help in troubleshooting the issue. As JD said it is an interesting app. The HUD display works great (very clever idea there), but I want to be able to remove that icon. I like to keep my app drawer paired down to as few apps as possible and that one icon sticks out to me.

I totally understand. The logcat may well help me see what's up.
Thanks.

After rooting my H810, I was unable to Greenify Facebook, as it was recognized as a system app (preinstalled bloat), and seemed to be a major battery hog. I was also limited on how I could limit its permissions.
I used Titanium Backup to delete that FB app, then reinstalled it from the market. That version was able to be Greenified, and there is more control over permissions. Since then, I have seen a considerable improvement in battery life. I've been unplugged since 6:20 this morning and I'm still at 76% right now at 2:26! I don't know if there was something rogue going on with the FB app behind the scenes, but I see a huge improvement. Far too significant to be a placebo.
What permissions did you limit?

Every single one except location. I usually have that turned off on my phone anyway.

How do you update permissions?

Then if so get the premium version of greenify which lets you hibernate system apps
Apps like facebook and clean master eats up the major system resources and put a heavy load on the ram and processor..this is a proven thing..and not a personal opinion..

There's Debloater, so you don't even need root to get rid of the bloat. I also noticed a huge improvement in battery life and responsiveness after clearing out a ton of crap!
I haven't tested this. But I thought I saw someone mention that even if you Debloat an included bloatware app, you can't simply install a replacement (updated version). The phone considers it already installed.
My apologies if a have this wrong. But it sounded like root would be required to replace apps that cannot normally be uninstalled, as was described above.
Did you freeze the Facebook system app or completely uninstall it?
I'm afraid of getting security errors on boot if a system app is missing

That may be true. I think Debloater does the same as going to the app in the Apps menu and disabling it. I disabled Facebook that way, and it showed up as blocked in Debloater before I'd ever actually blocked anything. (But Debloater lets you disable apps that the menu doesn't.) I don't use Facebook so I haven't tried to install another version.
I completely uninstalled it with TI, rebooted, then installed it fresh from the market. Then I locked down permissions and Greenified.

I use App Ops by Nowsky. It's available in the Play Store.
Don't know if anybody else is having this issue but ever since updating to 6.0.1, whenever I post something to Instagram or SnapChat the pic/video does not save to my 6P. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the apps. I have given the apps all the permissions. I have also disabled all apps from being able to perform a screen overlay over other apps which was a message I would get when trying to give the apps permissions to storage.
I still have the original Instagram and SnapChat folders on my 6P with photos in them before the 6.0.1 update but nothing is being saved to them ever since Don't know if there's anything else I can do or have to wait til Instagram or SnapChat release an update to fix the issue. Seems to be a few other people complaining about it from reading recent reviews of the apps.
Thought I'd check here if anyone had any solutions. Thanks

Yeah it's probably something Snapchat needs to fix. It's one of the drawbacks to being on the cutting edge. I don't know what you have tried already but you may try and booting to recovery and clearing cache. I would assume if your camera saves photos to the gallery then all is normal, besides your Snapchat.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll try that and see what happens. Yeah, no problems with pics/videos from the camera from being saved. And I actually am using an App called Instagram Photo Saver which allows me to save Instagram photos to my device which Google Photos is saving but the photos saved by the app are at a much lower resolution. But yes, SnapChat when I toogle enable storage access to SnapChat it does say "This app was designed for an older version of Android. Denying permission may cause it to no longer function as intended." Unfortunately, it's not working as intended either way.

Do you know if there is an issue using Snapchat filters on the 6P? I am getting a message that the device isn't supported.
So i've been reading for a bit and apparently there was an update that added an app drawer to Leeco phones (someone correct me if i'm wrong) but i can't find the system update option on my phone at all and i've looked everywhere.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
EDIT: Did some additional searching and it seems i have a shop rom (i have google apps and no system update option and zero chinese bloatware).
So for anyone that comes across this thread, you can't update unless you go through update.zip.
That's bad. I just got this phone and I was suprised that I don't have the bloatware launcher, but Google Now. Also I can't find any system updater in options. Seems like I have the same thing, which is both a plus and minus. And do you have a problem with custom launchers? Google Now is a poop and when I installed Lawnchair, I couldn't remove the last app I opened from the multitasking. Specifically it appeared in one "window" with the launcher so I couldn't "kick it out". I got back to Google Now, but I hate it. Do you have the same problem?
(Lol, such a long post)
Haven't actually tried a different launcher, i hear Nova is good though, it might be worth it to try.

Sorry for such a late reply. Finally moved to a custom launcher (Microsoft Launcher) and it has the same issue with the last app staying open. So i make sure to always keep the dialer/contacts app open as it seems like the least performance/battery heavy app to keep running. Annoying, but way way better than the launcher the phone came with that didn't even have an app drawer.
Hello all while I'm still waiting on my White NP1 device just wanted some recommendations for a Free/Paid gallery app.
I know this device uses Google Photos and I'm definitely not happy with them. (truth be known I only use Gmail, Google maps and Translate from the Google range of apps)
Normally I'm used to the gallery apps in Samsung, Honor or Huawei devices.
I don't what something the heavy on package size or system resources.
So any feedback is more than welcome thank you.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplemobiletools.gallery&hl=it&gl=US try this
I use Simple gallery pro, very happy with it. But you can't directly open your (other) gallery from the nothing camera app. That only seems to work with Google photo's. That's rely annoying (close the camera app, start the gallery app to share a picture...}
Currently there seems to be now ay the photos in the camera app get routed to whaterver gallery app exists.
So i had to re-enable gPhotos after disabling them. But there are many avilables ones, you can try SimpleGalleryPro, open fDroid, or just the internet to find one of your choice.
I use quickpic mod by WST
QuickPic
Thanks to all for you input I already use some of the Simple apps and their gallery app did not get much positive feedback from my findings.
That's a bummber about the Gphoto app as I was going to disable or uninstall it hate use Gphoto.
