The navbar dims in 8.1, it's basically just the color options.

Yup forgot dim navs in 8.0 now. The new DP2 should be dropping soon
In addition you will gain a white navigation bar at the bottom of the display, as opposed to the black one that exists now.
Also while on DPR1, the navigation buttons themselves dimmed on the home screen IIRC, whereas they don't on the November Security Patch Update.
Regardless, as far as I'm aware you can't role back to earlier versions as a security feature now (even flashing the factory image). If you opted in to the beta programme now I think you'd have to wait until dp2 was released, which should be just around the corner.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I actually just did this exact thing tonight. I was enrolled in beta on 8.1 using the OTA, then had to unenroll, which then provided an OTA to roll back to 8.0. I was trying to troubleshoot a fingerprint issue, about to RMA so I thought it worth a try going back. Now you can't flash 8.0 back if you're on 8.1 without unenrolling first. I tried that and got hella errors at first. Just because I wanted to, I then flashed 8.0 manually and it worked okay after going through that sort of roundabout process.
i cant even get on the beta. wondering if its because my device flashed the nov patch before i enrolled. probably have to wait for DP2

Hey guys. My dad upgraded his 6p to 7.0 via the beta program. He still has not gotten the September security update. I keep thinking he should've gotten it by now. Anyone else have this issue?

This is purposeful. Google does slow rollouts for OTAs, presumably to monitor potential OTA issues on release. Every device receives OTAs at a different time spanning weeks.

I re-enrolled in the Beta program yesterday and it sent me the September update a minute later. Try un-enrolling and re-enroll and see what happens. My concern is the camera's new on screen zoom +and - buttons and burst mode button. I find them very annoying and unnecessary. Can't seem to turn em off though.

Ya that's what I had him do. It sent him the NRD90T update. Hopefully from here on out hell just be able to get the update OTA without a problem
Haven't seen it mentioned yet but the new OTA is available. It comes with new color options for the screen (boosted, natural and saturated) and has the 'auto-dim' nav bar. Haven't noticed anything else new so far.
Tried to update nothing yet.
As of right now, no updates are available online for the Pixel 2 XL (all other google devices seem to have gotten an update)

Err, 8.0 or 8.1? Just checked for 8.1 and no go.
Can someone then post a screenshot of the "About Phone" screen then?

Someone posted one in the comments of the Android Police article (I'd link to it or the image, but I'm too new here).
I'm always last in line for updates. Google doesn't like me.
Can someone capture the ota when they receive it?

Update is out there. They did a ton of improvements to BT, screen and did add Natural, Boosted or Saturation mode for colors. Will post the pics firs then tell you which is which as I don't know which order they will upload. Not that it really matters as it will all likely look the same on your PC and your phone if you haven't gotten the update LMAO. Sorry!
EDIT: Uploaded natural >> boosted >> saturated. Will be impossible to tell on a PC monitor or phone that has yet to be updated, again apologies., thought I was being helpful! Haha
I received the update still 8.0 but security patch level is nov 5

I will also point out that this is correct, it's a security patch update for November, not the 8.1 update. We may not see that before the end of 2017.
Why can't someone make themselves useful and share the ota zip? Lol

I suspect that rmewpm may have been referring to the 11-06 patch level, which the main security bulletin says it what fixes the KRACK Wi-Fi vulnerability. The bulletin isn't exactly clear on whether this is fixed on the Pixel 2/2XL or not. The opening paragraph of the Nexus/Pixel bulletin says:
For Google devices, security patch levels of 2017-11-05 or later address all issues in this bulletin and all issues in the November 2017 Android Security Bulletin.

Later, in the questions and answers section, it says:
1. How do I determine if my device is updated to address these issues?
Security patch levels of 2017-11-05 or later address all issues associated with the 2017-11-05 security patch level and all previous patch levels.

Why Google had to have 3 patch levels instead of the already-strange 2 patch levels this month is anyone's guess. I'm not too impressed that they shipped the Pixel 2's with only the September patch. If they manage to ship the November update with some missing fixes for KRACK, I won't be surprised.

It's only for the Pixel 2 today.
Nothing for the P 2 XL yet on the Google factory images site.
I got my OTA, i can confirm the dimming navbar and color profiles.
Eagerly awaiting the ota. Spamming the update button
Any issues with Substratum?
I have the OTA, but holding off on updating until I know for sure if it is ok.

I have a Pixel 2 XL, I have the security patch update already installed on my phone. I am not referring to 8.1, if that is what you are referring to. See attached screenshot of my About Phone page confirming the security patch Nov 5.
I plan on buying the H8 now since it has a gotten a price cut recently. I noticed a few things browsing the forums here.
1. There is thread here in this forum about ways to save battery in the H8, how much is the actual SOT truthfully if someone would kindly tell, in a trickle usage, say 15 to 30 mins of gaming, an hour or 2 of watching YouTube, quite a few hours of music playback both stressing and local, and always on Wi-Fi, and also I'd want my notifications when they arrive but ALSO I DO NOT USE FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM OR SNAPCHAT. Just WhatsApp and Hangouts.
2. What is the screen getting dim issue ?
3. If I don't unlock the bootloader and root my device, I'll get all OTA's. Now, in a thread here only I was reading about updates being launched in a website about a week or two before OTA launch. The latest one being for the November patch with EMUI 5.0.1. How the hell did the updating system of the H8 work can anyone clarify.
4. And what is the requirement for rebranding the phone to 19 from 09 or 04.
I want to get this phone for its screen, and performance mainly. Can anyone also share if I should be aware of any other bugs or issues with this phone before making a final decision.
1) with what ur doing, probably around 5 hrs SOT, 5hrs 45 mins maybe if u tinker with the settings, I've gotten 6 hrs with 10 percent left before doing mostly YouTube and reddit.
2) no idea what that issue is, don't think I've ever had it
I don't really mess with my phone's so idk about 3 and 4.
So far i haven't ran into any big bugs. I've had this phone for a year and it's great, performance is really smooth. Maybe a hiccup here or there but they are few and it recovers pretty quick.

If you are on a budget and can't afford the Honor 9. Then why not.
Will probably not receive any further major updates. Security updates are currently available but I'm guessing not for much longer.
If you want a phone for the screen and performance (uncertain about which kind of) you can save some money and go for Moto G5s Plus. Faster graphics processing if you're gaming. Also potentially better software support and development (Oreo available).

Is that the Indian edition ??
If you pair your phones to a bluetooth enabled automobile, then I would not recommend the Honor 8. Nougat 7.0 has issues with several auto manufacturers, just google it. Google's 7.1.2 release was suppose to fix this issue, along with the Oreo update which adds in even more bluetooth codecs, thanks to Sony's help. Since we are stuck on 7.0 and no idea if the Honor 8 will ever see another update, I would avoid it unless you can find a friend with this phone and test pairing it to your auto before buying. It is not pairing to my 2013 Elantra.

Anyone have any idea when we may get a Leaked of Android 10 Beta, since T-Mobile is working on it I read???
It may not leak, who knows. The official betas only work with the Google pixel which is out already. To me, Android 10 sucks as it's all swipe gestures to do stuff, so I am not in a hurry to get it.

Sorry bro, but T-Mobile is no longer working on the Android 10. They had marked the Android 10 update under the 'testing' phase earlier, but it turns out it was a mistake as yesterday, they fixed by marking the update to be under 'Development' phase, meaning Samsung is still building the update and that they are yet to receive it. (Source)
Sad.
There's been a beta program with every other major release for Samsung, why not 10

You still have the option for buttons. If your upgrading from 9 with buttons enabled it will stay after update. Otherwise you have the option during setup and in settings.

So looking at the ota server log its looking like they are currently working on android 10 update.
The "o=10" part is usually what marks the android version the firmware is for. (i cant confirm that but based on previous updates listed that number has reflected the android version)

Howdy XDA Army,
A short while ago, I checked-out the google play system update under settings》biometrics》etc., and witnessed an update to this unsolved mystery of mine. My handset, even after the 11 stable build OTA, was still "stuck like chuck" on Sept '20. Maybe like you, I've never given this setting much thought nor shared any dialog (until today)! I was fine with and accepted the fact this setting will always run a good fiscal quarter behind the pack..well, that was then, and this is now! After the download & required restart, with the realization I'm still in a "shock & awe" state of mind, I'm eager to report this update I found to be somewhat anticlimatic.
(thnx 4 playing)

I googled it a while back, and sure there's a description of why it exists, what's it's proposed function is, etc.. Then, if any of it were true, why hasn't it "caught up" since it's birth sometime during Android 10? Finally, it makes you wonder why no push notification or play store pop-up..."a newer version of blah, blah, blah blah blah?" And this one's all google's, that's my understanding of it.
So today I tried again. This time it searched for an update but failed to install. Pretty weird.
