Hi everyone guys,
I can't seem to find another similar thread, so I opened this one.
I will explain what is going on.
One month ago I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S8, it was branded Vodafone, infact I had many apps from them.
Because I am with Three and I was tired of that annoying Vodafone apps, I decided to install a NO BRANDED stock ROM (OFFICIAL).
So I did, but today I compared some specifics with the ones of a friend of mine which has the same phone (NO BRAND - STOCK ROM).
As you can see from the pictures I left: Band Base, Kernel, Build Version and Android Security Patch Level are different.
I also checked the last updates for both of the phones, they are updated at the last versions, although they have different "values".
Those are my s8 infos:

Those are my friend's S8 infos:
Can someone help me with this giving me some detailed info? I'm going mad.
Thank you in advance!

It just takes time for the carriers to release the updates. And with unbranded it takes time for samsung to push the update to everyone. it goes by IMEI.
Nothing to worry about.

Engadget China is reporting that the Chinese version is receiving the 4.2.2 update and that it gets rid of the menu bar and add battery percentage as we already knew. Here's hoping the unlocked versions will be getting the update very soon now.
Apologies to the non-Chinese readers,

Hello everyone. I'd like to get a ROM and CSC that allows for updates and also allows Japanese Locale on a Galaxy S7 Edge G935F from Europe. Let me start about how this happened:
I have two devices, one in black and the other in white. First I had the black one, and I thought it was a little defective, so what I did was download any old ROM from the website that as compatible with my device. It turned out great. My friend who speaks Japanese wanted the same phone, since it's such a beaut!, and saw that my device (without me knowing, it didn't have a CSC, see below) and it had Japanese. Based on this, he got one and I have it now in my hand. As soon as I turned it on, there was no Japanese! So I looked at mine, and they're from the same operator / carrier / region. They're both European S7E from Italy TIM.

Image with my no CSC, but yes with Japanese.
So then I decided to try a ROM, and it kept a different CSC
So I restored my personal device with Samsung Kies, and it restored EVERYTHING ... Except for the CSC!
Now, I don't have a CSC or Japanese anymore.
How can I change my CSC?
And how can I find a CSC / ROM that has Japanese for my friend, and still allow him to get updates from Samsung?
Thank you very much!
Hello,
I need help with a Redmi Pro (not pro 3), which I bought in the Philippines (it was pretty legit and sealed, but the global rom was installed by default by God knows who...), and now I am starting to get random pop up ads like the one in the screencap bellow, giving me the disappointing feeling that my phone is a freebie...
Now I'm starting to even wonder if my personal information and privacy in the apps I use is compromised. Should I?
Please point me in the right direction to get rid of this, even if this means whipping the phone and re-installing a new clean rom. I am a total newbie with Android, I come from iPhone where this kind of practice is just inconceivable. But I use computers a lot and hopefully I can understand your explanations.
Thank you so much.

You havent official rom , its a distributor rom , I suggest you to install a new rom.
but You can try three ways
1-Delete the app that cause the ad popup (if it doesnt work try step 2)
2-Format the phone (if this dont work either try step 3)
3-Install official firmware or xiaomi.eu rom

Hi. I have an ATT Unlocked and using it here in the Philippines. Whenever I check software update, it always say that it is on the current version. After 24 hrs, I checked it again, it went to checking and then it'll say download has been interrupted. Checked again, and it said it is on the current version.
Can you advise if I should wait for the upgrade push or do something else?

Thanks that is what I did and works Great.
Would like to ask you another question dtomlin, if I buy used T-Mobile S10+ can I flash AT&T firmware and still have AT&T Wifi Calling and Enhanced Messaging??? Thanks
Really not sure on the s10, although I believe it is like the s8. Should be able to factory reset it with your at&t sim card and be fine. As long as its asn is clean
I recently obtained a "New-in-box" V20 and quickly got to work with unlocking the bootloader and loading Alpha Omega Rom. As I've been working with it, I noticed a couple of curiosities that make me question its newness, however, and I wanted to run this by the community to see if anybody had any insight. First and foremost, is this level of cutoff under the camera corner normal for LGs?

Secondly, the "hardware info" menu shows over 46 hours of "lifetime calls." Is that counter at all accurate, even after using LGUp to install an exploitable stock rom, Dirty Santa to set up TWRP, and then use TWRP to install the latest available Alpha Omega?
Another odd thing I spotted was that, despite the fact that it is the Verizon VS995 variant, the back cover has the B&O branding instead of the Verizon tramp stamp. Did some of the VS995s ship with this more stealthy design?
Basically, I'm trying to feel out if I have any leverage by which to request an exchange or partial refund for my "brand new" item. I'm still pretty happy with it despite the weird lineup issue, but it's one of those things that you can't exactly un-see .
