Hey team!
So much like the title says, I bought a Samsung S8+ from t-mobile. I got the device unlocked to use on Rogers, and it is functioning great. save for one thing. Though I can use Bixby home, Rogers is unable to push the firmware for Bixby voice to my device.
-T-Mobile won't help, because I do not use their services anymore, and Rogers says that they can not push to a T-mobile phone.
-When I check for system updates, it tells me that my device cannot be authenticated.
+++++++++EDIT+++++++++
-I have tried manually installing the APK
I have recently called samsung, and they are saying there is no legitimate way to get bixby on international devices that has been unlocked. this seems like shady business. we dont have this kind of issue with siri.
+++++++++++++++++++++
my first question is, if I flash rogers software to a T-mobile phone with Odin, will that cause any unforeseen problems,
and my second question is, will flashing it, fix the issue I have?
thirdly, IF it does not, are there any other actions I can take?
Hmmmm im not sure if bixpy updates come as systems updates man. I think they just come from the galaxy store.

Hi All,
So about an hour ago I searched for an update knowing that Verizon was supposed to be pushing out a security update today. It found an update and installed it. After reboot, the phone will not start. The splash screen shows the unlocked lock and the word "custom." The next screen says "Start Up Failed - Your device didn't start up successfully. Use the Verizon Software Repair Assistant on a computer to repair your device. Connect your device to your computer to get the Verizon Software Repair Assistant." More specifically, in the corner it says "Custom binary blocked by SECURE BOOT (boot.img)."
The Verizon Software Repair Assistant doesn't pop up when I plug it into my computer, and I can't find it online.
Ironically this is the ONE phone I have not actually tinkered with so yeah... VZW said they will most likely have to ship my work a new phone for replacement. I can't expedite that since I'm not authorized on the work account. Is there an image for Odin floating around that I can use to flash this myself? Help me please!!!
You did tinker, you tried to install the wrong/a bad file.
Odin to stock, there's a thread in one of the S7/S7e forums with the Verizon stock files.

where did you "find" this update? unless you went to settings and hit software update, you probably downloaded an incorrect update for the wrong phone, which soft bricked it. needs a re-flash.

I did in fact hit software update and let the phone search for the update itself. I have no reason to lie about this. I'm the first to admit when I screw up. I see someone has the firmwares on his mediashare in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65764861&postcount=14. I just requested access to the file I need.

UPDATE: I was able to get the phone back to life by doing a recovery boot (power up + home button + power). Previously, I was doing it the LG G2 way not using the home button. The phone booted all the way but now it still says I'm "custom." I'm holding off on using Odin to flash the full stock firmware because I've read that it won't reset that custom thing. Thoughts on Odin?
If you flash a factory image you should be good. Just make sure it's for the variant you are using.
Another update: I spoke with a great VZW rep today and explained everything. She posted an androidcentral forum link in the ticket where a woman had the same exact thing happen to her on her GS6. She also put in there that my valid is still valid. So that's that and I'll just keep using the phone as is now.

Same here. Appears to be some sort of security updates but no details. It does not include the March patches from Google.
Maybe you are rooted while upgrading your device into a new firmware? Some of peoples have problems with this.

Definitely wasn't rooted. I still suspect some goofball engineer at VZW in my area posted the update before it was signed properly or something like that. The phone has been working great though. It was a worthy upgrade from my LG G2.

Here's how you do it: Follow the EXACT SAME GUIDE FROM THE SPRINT NOTE 7 SECTION!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-note-7/how-to/root-super-leaky-bros-sprint-galaxy-t3447202
To get LTE to work again just add the T-Mobile APN (not that hard).
Also, you might want to freeze all the "Sprint OMADM" packages with titanium backup once you're rooted (will cause less of a hassle everytime you boot. I understand the devs in the "all things root" thread are holding this from you because they want to fix wifi calling but I think giving you root at all will tie you over for now. Also, I'm having problems downloading the gear VR apps with this so it's related to following this tutorial.
Thank you so much to the developers who made this possible for the Sprint note 7 and for everyone who brought this to the other variants (the T-Mobile note 7 was the easiest imo). It's a little funny to think that this whole time it was this easy and we could've been rooted all along. *If you really need the T-Mobile firmware rooted so you can enjoy wifi calling I've been working on something for a few hours but it's not ready.*
T-Mobile APN: https://bestmvno.com/apn-settings/t-mobile-apn-settings/
Edit: YouTube video added.
Here's the APN information for T-Mobile if you need it.
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-17581
I thought it was going to be a quick video tutorial
If you're wondering why the model number ends with a "P" is because it's sprint firmware, silly. Your model number will appear as that. In the video you can see I am on T-Mobile. Yes, I do have a T-Mobile note 7. You can find some of my posts of me waiting for my note 7 in Charlie's waiting room thread.

It's literally the same thing as rooting the sprint note 7 except you need to add your APN and disable a few packages. Not that hard.

Uh, this is from freeza? It's his thread that you are following but for the sprint note 7. It turns out it flashes perfectly on the T-Mobile note 7 with no problems and you can add the T-Mobile APN to fix LTE (that's what worked for me).
He leaked the firmware, we're toying with his work (well I barely did anything as you didn't need to do much different for the T-Mobile variant). But yes, I can see why you'd wait for the official ONLY if it is based off of T-Mobile firmware.

It's fine, it's root. Better than nothing. You can always use a Google voice number for the meantime if you really want to. We can always make a T-Mobile flashable ROM and flash it with FlashFire.

You need to make a folder called "sun7". Then extract all the contents of the zip you download into that folder. Wherever ADB is installed that folder needs to be in the same directory. Or if ADB is not in the same location provide the path.
Example: adb.exe push C:\pathtofilehere /directory/guide/tellsyouto/pushfoldercontentsto

and only a factory reset will recover it. Can anyone advise what I can do? I wanted to flash a different

Let me guess, when booting you get a short vibrate then two fast ones?

Yes when it boots and gets to the AT&T logo it vibrates and will not continue
Ive had the same problem...... was told have to watch what system apps you freeze with titanium backup, and if att sends new security patch and detects phone is "custom" knox will lock it up......... im not sure if those are the reasons but after alot of digging around thats what i found.

Thanks for your input. I wanted to replace the AT&T ROM with something better and was looking for suggestions. The
other problem is that AT&T has disabled the 5.8Ghz Wifi. What would be the best alternative to replace the AT&T
Bloatware ROM with? Is the T Mobile ROM a better alternative?
Flash the U Software. I have used the AT&T, TMobile and the U firmware. The U firmware is by far the smoothest. You loose VOLTE, but the rest of the phone runs so much better its worth it.

Thank you for your suggestion. What is the "U" software and where do I find it? Can I get updates with this software? Will this eliminate the crashes and is it faster since the AT&T firmware is very sluggish and slow?

Hello all,
Attached are modified factory roms that will flash an at&t or t-mobile phone to an unlocked phone. This means no more bloatware and in my case much better handoff between the lte bands.
These images reuse the carrier bootloader (I'm working on it) but everything else from the radio to the rom is from the unlocked priv.
Version: AAJ919
AT&T -> unlocked hybrid: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298947044
T-Mobile -> unlocked hybrid: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767153589
Directions: Unzip files. Hold power and volume down until phone reboots to fastboot. Launch flashall.bat. Follow instructions. This WILL delete your data so have a backup or don't I'm your boss. Wait. Done.
As usual I am not responsible for you bricking your phone. That being said even if the wrong file is flashed the phone gets stuck at the fastboot screen where you can flash the right file.

You must already have an unlocked phone. If your phone is paid off call your carrier and ask for the pin.

Totally possible. If we had root just modify the host file and set the verizon server update ip to localhost. You should be able to install DNS66 and do something similar. This will take digging on your end to figure out what the update IP is though.
I have an ATT Priv, so if I flash this I'll get next time OTA from BlackBerry instead of ATT? Saw the one above with the Verizon update and went back to bloated version.
Reporting back in to verify that it worked flawlessly on both at&t and t-mobile variants I have. Now if only we could get root lol
Thank you so much for your effort
I have an ATT branded Priv which got unlocked from ATT directly and has successfully installed this ROM. It works perfectly without any ATT bloatwares, but this built is old and when I check for system update it shows my system is up to date. However the most recent built for unlocked factory image is AAL202 according to the blackberry official reload software website.
So does this ROM OTA updates via ATT server or directly from Blackberry server?

I still have the original out of the box version file on my computer. I have updated my phone to the DE version. This is way different than the Note 5 firmware. I think I'm going to play with it this weekend to see if I can revert back to original stock though I'm not expecting a miracle. I'm hearing people can revert back but I'm not that interested in it until I need to be. I'm kind of disappointed that we don't have root and unlocked bootloader just yet but oh well. . it happens.
Bluetooth issues
I use my S8 with LG HBS1100 bluetooth headset and sometimes they disconnect... SOmetimes I can talk through whatsapp with the phone/speaker but not through bluetooth.
I also have the S8 connected to my Civic 2016 and it disconnect sometimes.
Tmobile signal/network is also very poor in some areas were I know are low but more noticeable.
I'm comparing these with my previous iphone 7+ S7 Edge and S8+.
I hope it improves with the update
I noticed my bluetooth acts wonky when I have any other wifi/bluetooth device active nearby. I did some testing with my work Iphone 7 and i get bad hickups in audio when its bluetooth or wifi is on in my car, when i turn it off, everything works fine.

Yeah i did. I tried it out with someone's cricket SIM card and it worked on cricket like a charm. So in my opinion, it's worth flashing to unlock firmware after network unlock through the app.
