Voice over LTE?

I was just reading an article that AT&T is planning to launch their first phone with Voice over LTE (VoLTE) but I was looking through the" hidden" menu on my AT&T G2...and I had the option to turn it on. Is it true that we have VoLTE?

Yes the phone is volte ready (or so the LG site says so) but it wont work till the carrier probably pushes a ota enabling it. Also it wont work till the carriers throw the switch on the towers enabling it too.

Yep what this guy said. The Snapdragon 800 chipset has VoLTE support so any phone running this chipset could theoretically be enabled to use voice over LTE.

I have set everything up and can not make a video call. Has anyone made a call successfully? I have VoLTE checked and video calls shows (but is grayed out). I see not option in dialer to make video call???

VoLTE stands for VOICE over LTE, not video calls over LTE.

lg g2 international version also VOLTE capable and in our country volte network also present still I am enable to use VOLTE in my lg g2

Curious.... What are people going to do if they get the phone on TMobile and it has no volte? Essential won't tell us so who knows

I’m pretty sure it was asked directly if the phone would work with those features and they said if the service supports it then it will work as intended. The only questionable thing was some sprint uses which I forget what it was.

well, my Mi Note 2 supports VoLTE so I have no reason to think that this device will not work accordingly.

Essential has to certify the device with Tmobile.

Yes on TMobile USA. Also, if I'm not mistaken, it's already certified on T-Mobile, just not Verizon.

Only Verizon certification is not complete. At least from the information I have.

I have the phone on T-Mobile and it supports Wi-fi calling, HD Voice, and VoLTE out of the box.

For wi-fi calling I just went to an area with wi-fi but no cell signal and confirmed I was able to make a call with it turned on. For VoLTE I just checked that the data didn't drop to 3G or EDGE when I made a call. And for HD Voice I just called another T-Mobile phone and it'll say "HD" next to the call timer if it's an HD Voice call.

Wifi calling turned on today on my phone after not working the past 3 days.

I'm in Houston Texas, and depending the area where I am sometimes I'm in band 12, but the majority of the time I'm in band 4.

Might have been that your APN updated. I had to manually edit the APN to reflect the proper settings and all features have worked since.

They both work for me. In Dallas.

Pixel 2 XL and AT&T VoLTR

Anyone else enjoying using VoLTE on their Pixel with AT&T? Conversations are so much clearer now. Could never go back to not using it.

I didn't have hd calling enabled until I installed the 8.1 beta but it's so much better now

Didn't realize it was because of the beta but yes, didn't realize what a difference it makes.

If HD voice is working on the beta is WiFi calling working as well?

Once you install the beta, you just go under mobile, advanced, and you should see a lte setting

I have that but when I make a call it switches to H+

I installed the beta, and that option was automatically selected.

Yep. Just tried turning on LTE only and I cannot make a phone call. So option is there, but not working at present.

Anybody know how to enable WiFi calling on this phone, or does ATT block any phone not approved and sold through them?

I just chatted with At&t. They told me that both my pixel 2xl and my wife's pixel are compatible for HD Voice and Enhanced Messaging. They told me to wait 2 hours and reboot. I'll update this post with the results

How did you get VoLTE turned on?
Edit: Realized there must not be a switch. Also decided to not be a dummy and actually read the first page of posts. LTE stays on for me when calling now.
Now if we could get enhanced messaging (10 mb limit) and wifi calling/texting, we'd be onto something

So after 11 hours still no features. I contacted At&t and am now being told that the original Pixel XL is not compatible. The new Pixel 2XL may be but I will have to be approved. I provided my IMEI to the rep and they are supposed to email me back within 72 hours. I also provided her an ad I found from At&t encouraging people to bring their new Pixels to At&t. I provided some screen shots below for you guys

Yup. I highly doubt this will go anywhere. Even if the pixel 2 has the capabilities, AT&T wants people to lease phones from them with their branding, period. I got an S8 through the Next program at launch (April) and VoLTE worked no problem. Before that I brought my own unlocked devices, Nexus 5, 6, and 6p. None of them ever were able to use advanced features.

Yep. It would be a clear departure from their current position that only AT&T branded devices get these advanced features.
One can hope though.

Just had a chat with AT&T. You do need to contact them and give them your IMEI to get VoLTE working. Mine now works.

Wifi Calling on At&t Google Pixel 2 XL

Opened the Settings app earlier and there was a suggestion at the top to turn on Wifi calling. I'm on At&t and November update.

How did you get this to work? I've been trying to days to enable this option. I pushed "adb shell settings put global wfc_ims_enabled1" but to no avail has it worked.
I am on AT&T and have tried this with both a Google Pixel XL 2 from Google and Verizon. If you could give me any details of what your setup is like so I can try to enable this I'd dearly appreciate it!

a screenshot showing the actual call going over wifi is needed.
unless ATT changed their mind in the last week, WiFi calling isnt available for the Pixel 2/XL, even if the option is enabled, the account has to be provisioned, and the phone needs the proper IMS profile, ATT to this date has refused to allow it.

This is the first I've seen the option even appear. Will test some calls and report back.

Looks like it isn't up and rolling yet, but the fact that the option appears has me hopeful. At&t still doesn't say that it supports VoLTE on P2XL, but we have that working, so perhaps Wi-Fi calling is coming soon.

Here's hoping. My apartment is on the bottom floor so reception is very spotty. What has been weird though is that if I start a call when I have reception and move to a spot in my apartment where there is no cell service, the call persists. So part of me thinks me enabling Wifi Calling from ADB may have done something?

So you're saying that after the ADB command was set, and you're in an area that legitimately has 0 cell service (not just very low/nearly unusable)? Screenshot of this, please?

It's working on the developer previews. Just talk to an AT&T tech and have them provision your SIM for it.

Because idiots around the US have no idea what they're talking about then they say "VoLTE on AT&T only works with AT&T-branded Android phones or iPhones". As long as a manufacturer certifies their device with AT&T, and configure their devices with the proper IMS profile for AT&T's network, VoLTE will work. Google (HTC/LG) certified the Pixel 2 / 2 XL with AT&T for VoLTE and RCS, both of which work if all criteria are met (proper SIM card, IMEI updated in billing system, options turned on), and right now, 8.1 DP1/DP2 are needed to use VoLTE on AT&T's network, as the modem/IMS configuration was updated on the phone to support it.

VoLTE is enabled in Android 8.1 for AT&T. I just flashed the final factory image and it does indeed work. You do have to verify that your sim card is properly provisioned for VoLTE. As for the WiFi calling portion of this conversation, I still cannot access the "Wi-Fi calling" setting within "Mobile network settings."

I am on 8.1 on AT&T but the unlock version of the phone... I don't ave the VoLTE

Check to make sure your sim card supports it. If it does you'll wanna call att and have a technician make sure your account is provisioned properly. Also you'll need to make sure they have the IMEI of your phone.

I just bought a Verizon Pixel 2 XL and Volte doesn't work. I'm on 8.1.0 February security patch. I thought that the Verizon Pixel was exactly the same as the Google Store version, other than the locked bootloader. Does anyone know how to get this working? I've already called At&t twice, and they say it should be working.

Is advanced calling enabled in settings/Network &internet/Mobil network/advanced. ??
If yes, then look at the link 2 posts above yours.

oreo beta not lte+

Since I loaded Oreo beta, no longer get lte+ on Verizon. Anyone else out there seeing the same?
Yes verified activated in settings and hd voice is turned on for this line on my account.

I'm using the oreo beta and I have lte+ on Verizon. I also have the option for visual voicemail since the upgrade too, just never activated it.

Same here, I just thought it was the fact that it was a beta. Miss it though as I got much better speeds on nougat having it. Sprint user btw.

Is this VVM through the dialer like native Verizon phones like the Pixel? Also, has anyone checked to see if WiFi calling shows up now on Oreo as well?

I'm on T-Mobile and I noticed I was on LTE+ earlier today. I was connected on Band 12 when I noticed it.
