I've had problems with my phone for a while now, no stable roms or mods, phone doesn't wake up from deep sleep, lagg....
So I got in to recovery mode (latest TWRP) a few hours ago and I got asked for a password? :S didn't know that TWRP had a protection function.. I pressed BACK and that was that, I got in to the menu and pressed INSTALL but the SDCARD was empty?
Using the filemanager in TWRP the internal SDCARD was still empty, but the microsd worked fine.
After rebooting the phone I got stuck on the sgs4 screen, so the rom didn't boot.
I went back to recovery and wiped everything possible and formatted the sdcard, afterward I installed a rom and rebooted.
Still the same problem, got stuck on the sgs4 screen.
In TWRP the sdcard was still empty. So I downloaded a odin flashable rom and flashed the phone through odin but got stuck at the same place.
I now have the stock recovery and when selecting "apply update from external storage", I get the error message:
"E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)"
Is there any function in a TWRP/CWM or modded recovery that can fix the internal sdcard?
Or perhaps repartition everything?
Just to let everyone know, the flashing in odin and TWRP worked as usual, so the system/data etc partition as fine.
Guess it's the sdcard partition that's corrupted OR if TWRP somehow locked the sdcard because I didn't enter a password?
I could be wrong but then I'm completely clueless.
Appreciate some help, thanks!
EDIT: [SOLUTION]
Since there is no way to use adb in recoverymode or downloadmode (I wasn't able to), you need to use odin.
1. Enter download mode and flash a clean rom through odin.
2. Enter download mode again and flash TWRP through odin.
3. Wipe DATA through TWRP and reboot.
4. Factory Reset through TWRP and reboot.
5. Done.
Seems like this is the wrong place to ask, but I think I found the problem.
It was TWRP with their "password protection" that cause the problem.
Downgrading to other versions wont help as it did for others with the transformer pad.
I did a search for "TWRP PASSWORD" and it looks like TWRP has a bug.
This is what I get in TWRP:
E:Mount: Unable to find partition for path '/sdcard'
EUnMount: Unable to find partition for path '/sdcard'
This is definitely the last time I'll use TWRP.
When flashing CWM, I'm unable to boot into recovery, only works with TWRP..
I'll keep posting here until I solve this if anyone get the same problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44007919&postcount=1
In the link above, someone manage to fix their phone with the same problem I have, even though it's the nexus7.
So what I've learned is that I shouldn't let TWRP root my phone.
I need a system.img file, could it be just the system parititon? Don't know how to get that file, so could use some help.
EDIT:
I'm going to unpack a odin package, found a system.img.ext4 in there, guess that wont help so have to find one with stock filesystem.
my device is samsung s3 neo i9300i.recently i install twrp 2.7.1.0 and accidently delete all partitions and system and data.so now there are no os system.and i cant boot my phone.phone stucks on samsung logo.but i can boot into twrp recovery mod.then i decide to flash stock rom throgh twrp recovery but it fails and also try cm 12.1 official and unofficial it also fails.its showing no md5 file found.patching system image unconditionlly and updating partitions.so what can i do.i dont have pc.so give me solution which can i solve with twrp 2.7.1.0 .and one que. can i install noble rom 2.1 on this mobile in this situation?please help me......
I think you still need to find any PC with samsung drivers installed and Odin. Boot into download mode (vol down + power) and flash service firmware to recover partitions. Maybe exist any other solutions, but this, IMHO, is what you need to do.
After installing cm12.1, doesn't it boot?
Don't worry about the md5 file warning or patching system unconditionally. If you got no errors (other than what i mentioned here), it should boot fine.
in twrp there is an option of terminal command.but i dont know how to use it.when i click to open this terminal conmand then open systems folders and files and bottom line there is a option of select current folder.so how can i use it to flash rom with this.anyone have idea then please help me
I several times wiped everything at once through TWRP, then just restarted into recovery, copied .zip files for the ROM and gapps from a computer and flashed them, so can't really see where is the problem in your case. Doesn't the PC find your phone as a storage drive after wipe and restart?
yesterday i successfully install nobel rom 2.1 in my device.but now problem is i cant boot my phone.its showing samsung logo and then automatically going in download mod.before this installation i several time wipe every partitition and succedsfully install noble rom 2.1 but cant boot my phone.problem always there.please please help me
Maybe the problem is with the ROM and it's incompability with your phone. What if through Odin you flash a stock ROM from a computer in download mode and then try another custom ROM?
But of course first try to enter recovery and directly flash (another) working ROM, because going through stock with Odin takes much more time and nerves. Also, with Odin you have to be extremely careful to use the exact stock ROM for your device, so this is kind of a last-case scenario.
Plz check the rom u r downloaded is not corrupted
Or download again by any other phone and save it to external sd card then plug it on ur s3 and flash it
plz can any provide me twrp nandroid backup of system and boot partition of s3 neo i9300i plz plz plz

If you deleted ALL partitions, you have to flash Stock. If not, then just install something.

Yes of course you can. Flash whichever version you want. Just make sure it is only for your device s3 neo not any other Samsung phone. If you have solved the problem, then reply here and all moderator to close this thread.
Hit thanks of it helped!

Hi, I have a problem with OP5, I decided to install OOS 8.0 (Beta), I had OOS on 7.1.1 (Root) (TWRP), I made full wipe in TWRP and installed OOS 4.5.14 (7.1.1), after that i get Stock Recovery and Iupgraded OOS to 8.0 (According to the OnePlus manual) -> Bootloop. I decided to go back to 7.1.1 -> Error, I uploaded TWRP and another attempt to download 7.1.1 -> The system got up but I can not do anything because I have an error "Udecrypting the device. (Write to do "Factory reset"), so again to TWRP -> Full Wipe and here is interesting, I get my error "Wrong argument", the phone does not see my built in memory (I write that I have 0mb), what can I do in this situation? Anyone know?
ERROR in TWRP: "Unable to mount storage"
Please help me.
Go to recovery -wipe-advanced wipe-data-repair or change file system- change file system. First select EXT2 and after that EXT4 and now you should be able to use your storage but you need to flash new TWRP (try this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=27442)

Thank you for that link. I was having another issue - the TWRP downloaded from the official site didn't work on the latest Oreo beta build and didn't overwrite the stock recovery and couldn't mount /data. This one did.
yeah im having major issues with mine, im now stuck in a download mode i cant get out of !
The first question is, you want to go Oreo or return nougat? In the first case, go to the dedicated thread, download the black TWRP and format data (if you can't read anything) reboot to TWRP again now copy the Oreo firmware and install it from the same recovery, reboot to recovery again if you don't have the stock one automatically installed, just flash it via TWRP. So once you're in stock recovery format EVERYTHING, reboot to system, and after you've configured the initial setup of your device if you want reboot to bootloader and reinstall the black TWRP and flash magisk 14.56 for root.. I've done this for getting this Oreo rom works
Exactly happened with me too. I even accidentally deleted all the contents of my storage. Tried to sideload via adb but got unknown device error. This thread worked for me
https://thedroidguru.com/how-to-unbrick-oneplus-5-phone-with-official-tool/
ive just restored the latest nougat firmware/radios and jumped back onto an aosp build until op5 gets official Oreo build
Hi everyone,
I posted this thread in general troubleshooting category and after some advice, I decided to post it in the S4 section.
I was since 3 years on custom ROM (CM and Lineage OS) and due to substratum, I had a bootloop.
My problem is quite particular, after a total clean (wipe and format cache, system, data, dalvik cache) of my device and flashing the stock ROM, custom recovery cause me some trouble.
Whatever I try (CWM touch 6 or TWPR 3.1.1), I can't flash custom ROM (Lineage OS 14.1), TWPR or CWM crash 1 second after the flash command and reboot, with disable touchscreen and even by using old navigation way and try again, same problem.
Tried also to disable file signature check but no effect.
Quick summary about what I did:
- Device: Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505)
- ROM stock used: I9505XXUHOJ2 ( the build on which is based the CF-Root file I used) and Bulgarian version due to mistake.
- I tried on these two ROM with in the two cases, no patch or Samsung ROM update made.
- Tried to install CWM by ROM Manager and ODIN (v3.09)
- TWPR installed by TWPR App using file in .img and not the second option (tar.img) for LTE Internationnal Qualcomm.
-Checked the root before last attempt with root checker and it was ok.
- Made 4 times already the clean and Stock ROM flash to clean recovery and try another way to install it (never had error after recovery install).
Actually I'm on the OJ2 Rom with update and patch delivered by Samsung with classic method.
In advance thanks for your help and I really hope it's not too serious.
By the way, sorry for my english, it's not my native language
Try flashing the stock ROM from sammobile.com or updato.com, don't root, use Odin 3.07 to flash the tar version of TWRP 2.8.7, try flashing a custom ROM.
Thx for the help/advice
Just to be sure, my stock ROM is actually from up updato.com but due to the patch and Samsung update I'm now on HPK2.
Here the detail of my stock ROM
https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2018/05/4/1517503670-screenshot-2018-02-01-17-43-00.png
(the integrated image link option made it as large as the moon so I prefer a simple link)
TWPR 2.8.7 is still efficient or another version would be better ?
If yes, I will try in the hour and I will give you news as soon as possible
EDIT: After some research, TWPR 2.8.7 jfltexx is not avaible in .tar , only .img and impossible to find it on net...
But 2.8.6 and 2.8.4 are avaible in .tar and 3.0.0 in .img.tar , which one is the best ?
I suggested 2.8.7 because Ihave used it in the past and it was very stable. Try a newer tar version. It's really just to see if the phone will take TWRP and boot it.
Whatever I try (TWRP 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 in .img.tar for jlftexx)
Odin (v3.07) do the job , my phone reboot as normal.
But when I shutdown it and lauch in recovery by manual way, got during a micro seconds the android logo of loading and intant "No commands " and I end on the stock recovery.
Edit: I will try the same method with Odin using CWM tar (never had problem with it before this day)
Same thing with CWM-v6.0.4.7-Touch-GT-I9505.tar
Android loading logo and "No command detected"
Problem solved
Well, I don't know how I made a sucess but it seems the "wild" method worked.
So here is the list of things I did in case somepne got the same trouble
Put your Zip file on SD AND Internal Memory (in case)
All the Zip files I used where on my internal storage during this procedure.
- Download mode:
uncheck Auto Reboot in Odin
flash TWRP3.0.1.0 jlftexx.img.tar with ODIN in admin mode
turn off device after flash ended
Obligation or the stock recovery will return automatically !
Lauch device in recovery mode:
If it's TWRP good news, slide to confirm modifications.
Recovery mode:
-Wipe --> Advanced Wipe--> Select Cache, Dalvik Cache, Sytem and Data (never check internal and SD storage)
I tried by mistake without wiping dalvik cache, and got no boot after 5 minutes so i made it again with all the wipe above
-Install --> Flash zip of the rom and Gapps (got an error at zip signature check on the ROM so I flashed after uncheck this option)
-Reboot --> System
Let your device launch on the new rom, set the basic parameters and after, if you want, return in recovery to flash the SU addon for root (got also zip sugnature fail so I ahd to uncheck it again)
Hoping no one will ever had the same problem but in case, I share my solution
Thanks again for help
Guys this is help less.
After rooting my device I followed some instructions to get the Lineage 14. I flashed a BootLoader and a Modem as instructed and went forth to mount USB in order to transfer the custom rom into the device. But this is where the problem is.
It says E: Cant find partition to mount storage. I've tried to reboot, wide, data, storage, system and cache and repair the partition I don't know what else to do.
Anyone else can help? Btw I am fairly new to this stuff so please dumb it down for me.
Another thing, when I go to reboot my recovery it says my device isn't rooted and asks to install superSu, however it was rooted before I entered download mode and started installing bootloader and modem.
Now I have no operating system in the device so i can literally only use Recovery or download mode.
Is my device bricked? I don't know. :crying: :crying:

If you can boot recovery, all is not lost.
First, are you sure that you flashed the correct bootloader/modem for your s5 model (G900 T, P, V, F, etc? Odin should not let you flash the wrong one, but anything is possible.
If Bl/modem is correct, them the next thing is to get the custom rom onto the phone.
-make sure you have downloaded everything you need (rom, root method(pref Magisk), gapps if wanted)
- boot into recovery, I'm recommending and assuming that you are using the latest Twrp, if not, d/l official Twrp for your model, and flash that with Odin
-In twrp select wipe, format data, just in case.
-now you should be able to mount usb storage, using the option in twrp
- now you should be able to mount your phone to your PC and transfer the rom, put it somewhere easy to find on the phone. also copy gapps and Magisk zips
-now, still in twrp, select install, select rom zip, select add more, select Magisk zip, also flash gapps at this time if you want to use them.
-click the button to flash
-click wipe cache/dalvik
-click reboot
-pray ?

Hey man! Thank you so much for your reply. I installed CPE1 bootloader and modem driver, honestly I don't even know what they do. Was this a wrong thing to do?
I rooted my device using cf auto root, then flashed the bootloader and modem using Odin. After that I (stupidly) tried to boot my stock OS and it was stuck in a bootloop.
Unfortunately I won't be able to try your instructions this till tomorrow evening but I'll keep you posted!! do you mind if I pm?
Edit: I was using twrp 2.8.7 I believe, could this have been the problem? Also I updated twrp to latest and tried micro sd as storage and flashed a Rom but the phone is still bootlooping

Ok I see you have S5 plus. I'm not familiar with that device to know which baseband it should be.
One thing you might try is to boot recovery and clear cache/dalvik and then try booting the custom rom.
If all else fails, you might try Samfirm
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
That should give you a stock firmware file to flash with odin.
You can pm if you need to, I don't own an S5+, nor am I a veteran flasher but I will try to help if I can.

Ok sorry I couldn't be more help
Oh, you don't need to use of cfautoroot anymore, you can just flash Magisk after the rom, and then use Magisk manager to manage all your root permissions.
So if you are going back to stock, I would:
-Flash stock in Odin
-probably boot stock once to verify (first boot takes long)
-odin flash latest twrp(uncheck auto-reboot, just battery pull after it says pass)
-power on phone with key combo to boot recovery
- format data
-flash rom/gapps?/Magisk
-wipe cache/dalvik
-reboot system (first boot will take long)
Hope you get your phone working again

Good News! Phone is back in full working order after flashing stock firmware. It was kinda scary though, I had to fix an error in Odin and then the phone wouldn't even boot up! Left it over night, booted it again and it worked fine Thanks a lot for your help, I'll try not to soft brick my device again
