So I've had the Incredible since launch day and must say that I'm very pleased with it. The first day I had a couple of random reboots and on day two my phone was awake 100% of the time. I did a battery pull and haven't had any issues since. The following is long so I've sectioned it off. Read what you want and leave the rest for others to read. I'm sure some of you have had different experiences, but this is mine and these are my opinions.
Battery Discussion
Others have complained that the battery is less than stellar (at least in the forums I've read). I always try to hold off judgment early on for two reasons: 1. It's a new toy and I'm prone to using the crap out of it & 2. I think battery calibration time is needed for the phone. This isn't for the battery but time for the phone to calibrate with how the battery discharges. I used the stock 1300mAh battery for the first week and started using a Seidio 1750 on Saturday.
I know this is a hot debate, and I even started to doubt my purchase after placing the order. I read reports and claims that Seidio battery's are only good for 84% of their claimed capacities and such. When the battery arrived on Friday (the 1750mAh btw), I waited till the end of the night before installing it. I powered down the phone, inserted the battery, and left it to charge while turned off. The following day I had extremely heavy use. GPS ran for 1 1/2 hours (display on), Slacker Radio for 45 minutes, lots of web browsing, and sitting in a theater with poor signal (it was hunting for 90 minutes). At the end of day one I had around 5 hours of awake time and 12 hours of uptime before it started running low. Sunday the phone saw moderate use through most of the day. I wanted to drain the battery before bed so I turned on all my radios, jacked up the brightness, and played videos for about 90-120 minutes before it shutdown for the evening. Monday I had similar results to Sunday, I was getting about 6 hours of awake time with 14+ hours of uptime. Actually on Monday I didn't even wear the phone down to the point of shutting down. I only got it to 10% or so, not sure on the awake (over 5 for sure) time but my uptime was 15 1/2 hours.
I did notice something funny this morning. I forgot to charge my phone while off last night and woke up to a fully charged unit (according to the green indicator). I unplugged the phone and checked the HTC battery widget, 93%!?!?! This was after 7 hours of charging. I turned the phone off and let it charge to green while powered off. This confirms what I've heard others say, that the phone is not fully charging the battery and falls short about the last 10% or so.
Screen Protector
I ordered Phantom Skinz matte protector Friday from Amazon for $18. This is my first dealing with Phantom Skinz and my order came in yesterday. I actually got 2 x matte finish and 2x regular protectors. I tried the matte out and hated it, so on came the normal and it's nice. I have used Zagg's Invisible Shield(on an iPhone) and I couldn't believe the difference. Application was the easiest I've ever experienced and I'm very happy with it. As time goes on I'll get a better feel for it, but the initial impression is good.
Case
I've been using the Silicone Gel Verizon case and like it for a temporary cover until something better comes out. As others have reported Otter Box just put in a product suggestion for me and I don't see anything on Case-Mate's webiste I'm sure the demand will bring about a product soon, just email and let them know there's a demand.
Compared to other Android devices I've used...
It's awesome and feels like the Android phone I've been waiting for. I've tried the Sprint Hero, Motorola Droid, and Verizon Eris. While they were all good they just fell short in areas that seem to bother me. The Incredible has a fitting name in my book and the camera is leaps and bounds better than what I expected.
Compared to my iPhone/iPad experience
I'll say this, Android is a better fit for me on the phone platform. I left the iPhone for my Eris which has recently been sold to fund my Incredible. I got an iPad shortly after launch, but after getting the Incredible I find that it only serves as an e-reader for me.
That's quite the remarkable story you've got there. Not enough to be incredible P), but remarkable nonetheless.
Also, why did you hate the matte finish so much? Does it interfere with the performance of the touch screen?

LOL, thanks for the comments. I didn't like the matte screen because it really blurred the screen a ton. Touchscreen responsiveness was still great, but it killed the clarity of the screen.
Tilt2 to Droid Incredible
I came from the Tilt2 on AT&T and I LOVE this phone and almost everything about it. What I am not exactly pleased with Verizon's CDMA.
I dislike how I have to disable "Always Connected Data" to get decent battery life. On my Tilt2, I could stay on MSN messenger 24/7 with very little impact on my battery. With that option off my battery life is much better, but Meebo also shows me offline a lot on MSN.
Also those AT&T commercials about the "No data+voice" is ringing true. Already there has been 4 instances in a 4 day period where that has caused me a problem. I guess it was something I took for granted on AT&T.
I guess I am stuck here for 2 years, because I just can't go back to AT&T and their lack of decent phones. They must have some sort of agreement with Apple to limit what phones they offer in order to maintain their exclusivity. I was hoping to get a decent Android or Windows Phone 7 on AT&T but I doubt that will ever happen.
I came from xv6800 on Verizon. So far I'm impressed. I love the speed of the phone. Internet is super quick and very fluid. Not to mention it also does flash lite which is a definite plus. The only issue I have is probably the battery. It could be better, but it's not horrible.

Really? you have to turn off "Always Connected Data"? I keep mine on all the time. I also keep GPS on and I get a full day's worth. Granted, I don't have msn or any chat client on all the time.
Hey At&t is suppose to get the galaxy s. That phone looks like a beast. I have no idea when that's coming out though.
Past Windows Mobile user
Well let me start by saying that this is my first Android phone. I am a long time user of Windows CE PocketPC Mobile. (Hmm, I guess this implementation of BB doesn't have strikethrough enabled, but you get the point.)
An iPaq lured me away from Palm; the Samsung i-760 convinced me to switch from a PPC and mobile phone, to an all-in one device; and now the Incredible has gotten me to switch platforms.
I had seriously considered jumping carriers for the iPhone, but alas, where I live AT&T doesn't have a great signal, and those few that do have them, are waiting until their contract ends to jump to Sprint or Verizon.
I wasn't the one who "discovered" the Incredible though - I was happy with my Imagio (thanks to Energy ROM, found here) and had just switched from the TouchPro. My wife was up for a new phone, and got the Incredible, which I then had to set up for her! After four hours (no, it doesn't take that long to set up, I just played around with it for that long!) I was hooked. I went back the next day, and they still had one in stock. I switched and haven't looked back.
I haven't found any reason to mod the rom (or I guess it's rooting on Android), and the sheer speed is awesome. I felt like a traitor to Windows Mobile (hey it was a long term relationship remember), but that only lasted about two days.
I miss hand-writing recognition for SMS and data-entry, but other than that, this is a device that you will love. Spend a few minutes with it, try it out if you can get your hands on it. You will never look back.
I've had my D800 since november 2013, a few days ago, I started hearing hissing or high pitched noise kinda like the sound of a leaking capacitor coming from the camera, LED light and rear microphone area . From what I know of, some people experienced this and the noise only occurs either with headphones or whenever theres a call taking place, BUT this sound I'm experiecing is non stop, even with the phone screen off and just sitting idle.
Idk if this also has to do with my battery life being, I'd say not the best in the past 2 weeks, been getting 12-18 hour days with 2 1/2h to 3 hours SOT sometimes my battery would be at 15% by the time 12 hours has passed, and this is with auto sync off etc.and light to moderate usage.
Should I get a replacement?

I wrote a thread about this. It's well known on the N4, once heard cannot be unheard.
I doubt you would be able to proove it as not everyone hears it. To some extent it's present in all devices... from LG.
So even an exchange may not help. Even though that's what was commonly done in the N4.
But might get better?

well i`ll start my answer with battery cuz i`m always wondering about battery xD u using stock ye? in some review i`v heard that guy was talking about a software related battery usage, he said that when used device heavy, battery consumption was low funny yeh? xD and he said that after this sometimes battery started drain, so it maybe a software issue... since i`m using a G Pro 2 port i have increased battery as i see (about 4 or 5 sot with moderate usage, sometime it goes to 6 and even 7hr sot.
about hissing sound: if u using stock KK from LG than it`s a normal, i have bluetooth headset and i never had problem but some guy said that hissing on weird headset is normal on KK, idk on JB
but if u want replacement and if its free then u losing nothing it`s my opinions just by the way
Hope i helped a little bit

Hmm well, I am using the stock AT&T KK, didnt know it was very common with the N4, it has to be something with hardware but i wouldnt know, and hoping it'll get better upon next device that comes in, i could get lucky

Yeah mate im using the stock AT&T KitKat ROM, and yeah i heard that noise persists on headset however i dont have any headset or bluetooth on at all, im thinking the noise is somewhat hardware related but like the guy above said that its common on basically all LG devices, however I'll just take the hit and get a replacement nothing to really lose IMO, I have 10 days to keep the other device and see if that same problem occurs on the replacement
This is my opinion. I'm a long time Android user.
I purchased this device with the excitement of it being a mixture of my 2 favorite interfaces.
The phone itself is nice looking. The screen is curved leaving it difficult to install a screen protector.
The back is extremely 'grippy' but feels loose towards the middle.
The software is buggy and i think they should have definately spent more time with it. Had a couple of random reboots and freezes within the 1st day.
The phone was randomly getting hot to touch, even after i stopped running background app's, and when it was doing this the battery life would drop quick, very quick.....
The phone does get warm fast, no matter what other people tell you. Simply browsing chrome or facebook i could feel the heat within 3-4 minutes.
The battery life i experienced was abysmal! After 5 charging cycles it didnt get any better, i averaged just on 3.5 hrs screen on time, for a 3400mah battery thats pretty bad. Especially for a so called business device thats even worse.
The sound through the bottom speaker grill was average.
The only thing i thought was realy good was the actual phone calls, sound was loud and clear.
The price of this phone is absolutely ridiculous!!! Its not worth what there asking.
The phone is a big let down for me. I was shocked.
If you want true blackberry, save your money and get a Passport.
My opinions.
I am planning to get the silver passport...

Just about everyone reported good battery life with this thing. Ya sure you weren't running a lot of junk apps in the background?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not buying it. The keyboard is trash. But still.
Did you update anything? For some reason the Blackberry apps don't say they need updates, you have to visit their store page and update there. Also, unlinking and relinking your email account in the hub may help with your heat issues. There's also the chance you just got a lemon.
I updated all my apps i made sure i had nothing running in the background. Im pretty good with Android. No my way round somewhat.
If you get one just make sure you have the ability to return it easily enough.
I returned mine to the store and got a LG G4 instead which is an unbelievably good phone.
You can try out these steps to make sure you have the latest Blackberry apps on your Priv: http://crackberry.com/get-latest-app-updates-your-blackberry-priv-automatically
I have 0 battery issues. yes it gets warm, but that's probably as much as my oneplus 2. I'm easily getting 5 - 6hrs SOT over 18 hrs.
So far i am liking this device. I have an s6 edge, passport original (sold now), passport silver, which is the only device i have ever went back to after getting rid of. Now a Priv. So after getting it all set up with gmail, hub, twitter, facebook, corporate email, and some other random apps and charged up to 100% i went to bed with it unplugged. Woke up 7 hours later battery was at 96. Not bad for overnight. The productivity edge compared to the people edge on the s6 is a grand slam, its almost like having google now launcher after all primed up. Double tap to wake is flawless so far. I must say i am impressed. being able to hotkey all the keyboard keys just like my passport is great. I have not seen a single glitch yet. This device, for launchday software on a new platform for Blackberry is quite polished. I am not a blackberry loyalist by any means, but the subtle customizations and natively being able to set the flashing LED colour to different alerts is all baked in. I think im going to sell my Edge.

The G4 is a great phone. I want to try the Priv but can't justify dropping my G4 for it!
Can someone please tell me if it is possible to remove battery percentage from status bar??? Please.....

Battery is awesome!! No complains!
Totally disagree with OP. My experience is very different. Great business device with good replication of the best of BB10.
Aside from the heating thing, everything else seems to be your device only. You might have gotten a faulty device.
I've been using the Priv for a week now, neither a single random reboot nor a freeze happened. The phone is fluid, and no lags. It does get warm quite quickly, but not to the extent you're describing here ("hot to touch"). It gets as warm as other devices, but quicker.
I wouldn't go as far as returning the device only for these issues, I'd get it replaced instead. But then again, that's just me, and I have been excited about it since its rumours and renders. If you weren't excited about it, or just looking for a "new device" to test, I'd understand why you were eager to return it.
I also wasn't pleased with the battery life. I own a moto x play, has a 3,600 mah battery, I average 6.5- 7 hrs screen on time, the priv have me about 3hrs with a similar size battery??!!
Mine is back in the box ready to be returned also same issue. So hot almost too hot to touch. Constant fc on chrome and hanging battery life absolute ****e and worst of all how the sharp corner sticks into your hand on obe handed use. ..so disappointed as I was waiting since release day..total pants if you ask me
Heat issues may be dependent upon your network as I found in the UK that on EE very little warming but a bit more warming on Vodafone.
Yeah mine was on voda
I'm actually pretty happy with the priv - mine only gets slightly warm under load, doesn't randomly reboot or crash, the screen doesn't click, the front and rear cameras both work flawlessly...
however, I'm on the verge of returning it due to the physical keyboard. People complain that it's cramped and small, but I have no issue with that either. My main issue is that it drops keys randomly and can't keep up with the typing - it happens most frequently when typing double letters ("google" -> "gogle", or "good"->"god"), but it also randomly drops keys elsewhere too. I'm pretty sure it's not me as I intentionally type very deliberately to see, and I hear/feel the key click down - but nothing registers on the screen.
For a company that built its reputation on having the best in class keyboard... this is pretty disappointing.

If this is the case what a major flaw, if your on a certain network you could potentially Cook an egg on the back of your priv with the heat!!
Give it a couple of full drain/charge cycles and you'll be fine. Software is a bit buggy yes. But since this such an important phone for BB, you can be assured constant software updates will make this into a monster.
Give it a real chance before you dismiss it.
Here's my SOT after 1 week of use. Here with 34% left. This will get you up to 6 hours SOT.

I have the G3 and the battery life is not bad. I'm debating between the pixel and the V20. I'm curious how the G3 battery life compares directly with the V20. I know everyone is interested in sharing their battery story and if you have another phone you want to talk about I'll be happy to start another thread. It doesn't help cover my question if people are switching from the G4 or G5 or note or a vibrator or an iPhone... I have a G3 so that is the only frame of reference that will mean anything to me.
It's about the same. Traded in my G3 for the v20 and so far the only thing that's great is the audio on my headphones. Dropped calls and bad LTE connections along with some lag have made me consider taking it back.
OMG get the v20! Switched from the G3 and guessing double the battery life after a week of use. Much better LTE signal strength with fewer dead spots. Killer audio, camera, and love the always on screen.
Looked at a pixel but for the extra cost of about $250 on VZ plus getting the removable battery and SD card I was down for the v20.
This phone is killing the G3. Battery life is waaay better. And I had Greenify and Amplify on my G3. It was rooted and booted but this V20 is 2 steps up without root. Probably get a day and a half once root comes out. Jk. Lol.
THanks for the response - the reason I ask is - I've turned off a ton of apps I don't use and get very good battery life on my G3. I have BT on 24x7.
It has been 24 hours since my last charge - I have 62% battery life remaining. Talk time 1.5 hours - normally I use my phone about 4.5 hours a day - I use it as my office line for tech support.
Anyone here use their phone as a phone a lot?

Basically my phone on standby I have black and white on cause I used it last night and its better on the eyes I just haven't turned it off lol
I too switched from my very loyal/dependable G3 to the V20. I've had the V20 since Oct 29th and I can say without reservation that it blows my old G3 away. I was running Resurrection Remix ROM on my G3, and the V20 still smokes it....regardless of no root/locked bootloader. The only thing I miss is the CM13 theme engine/Layers...but I still think the V20's responsiveness and features make up for it.
I am on Verizon and I've noticed that the signal strength is much better on the V20 compared to what I had on the G3. So far, I am confident that I made the right choice. Also for me, battery life is much better on the V20 and that is with its little 2nd screen on the entire time.... I average a day and half to 2 with moderate to heavy usage. My old G3 would only last about a day.
I did seriously contemplate the Pixel XL, but when I finally had one in hand and compared it to the V20, it was a no brainer for me.....removable battery and expendable local storage sealed the deal.
Good luck with your decision(s)....
I only just changed to the V20 yesterday, so far so good. I will still keep my G3 , it still holds its weight when comparing to other handsets on the market. Though the 2Gb ram was starting to show it's not good enough anymore with android 6.
I just got my V20 today and i have to so far I am loving it over my G3, idk about battery life yet as I killed the battery during setup and restoring my apps.
Thanks for your replies. I look forward to your opinions on the battery.
Well I still have 2X LG G3 and 1X Samsung galaxy s4 . But because my LG V20 came defective from factory i had to return it, but for the short period i used it, i can say it is way better than the LG G3 on Every aspect without exception! (im still waiting for my new LG V20 to come (STUPID BACKORDERS!)) The LG G3 >rooted with AICP or Resurrection Remix would last about 18 hours with screen off, and 3-4:50 hours with screen on device in normal usage, not heavy such as Youtube video on 1440p. Yet with the LG V20 with screen off, i lost about 1 percent every 4 hours with screen off . and screen on i got 6+ hours of normal usage. (i have 35 user apps installed on my LG G3 and also had them on my LG V20, many of them were constantly synchronizing such as package tracker pro, zooper widget pro, among others)
My V20's battery life is just about exactly what I was getting with the G4 and the G3.

Bummer - but good to know. I'm hoping the Motorola ? or Lenovo P2 come to Verizon soon as I'll need to make a decision soon. I know it a fancy recording device is important to others but I use my phone to make phone calls 95% of my use time is phone calls. Maybe 5% of the time I'll check email or text and once in a while when travelling use GPS. So cameras and recording don't matter - call reception and battery life are king for me. They both have similar thickness to the V20 but include a 5100mah battery!

Maybe. Depends on other factors. Pretty much any review you read will say that the Moto Z Play can last days. I've seen reports of 7 to 10 hours of SOT. That's without the battery mod.

I don't know if the P2 when released will have a Verizon option so I'm still hoping to find something with good battery life worth upgrading to without wasting an upgrade. I'd also love the ZenFone 3 Max which only has a 4100mah battery.
What happens is I'll be using my phone and it will just randomly restart at 50 or 40% and then when it turns back on it will be at 5%. Does this mean my battery is bad or what could it be?
sounds like a bad battery to me...
yeah the cheapest easiest fix would be to swap batteries. my note 3 started doing this then i bought a new set of batteries and it went back to normal. My moto x developed this issue too but the battery can't just be swapped that is why i picked the v20 vs any other phone as there is a vast lack of phones with user removable batteries... in fact it seems like this is the last of the phones to have the feature v30 doesn't have it none of the samsung htc or any other flagship phone have removable batteries...
Thanks I just wanted to make sure that it was a bad battery, I've actually had to switch back to my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge as a daily driver because of the battery issue. Is it safe to still use the V20? I don't want to risk a battery explosion or something. All I use it for anymore is really it's HiFi dac and the dual speaker mod since I have the free line from T-Mobile
It's perfectly safe, just needs a new battery to last as long as it did when new
