This is probably the freakiest problem that i have ever had I normally use Player Pro for listening to music but when I use it in the S3 the vibration module becomes active and it vibrates along with the bass heavy songs. I am getting the same problem sometimes with the stock video player...and also MX video player. interestingly the stock music player does not have this problem.
Anybody getting the same problem...any idea how to solve this?
Initially i was amused with this thing..as it sort of makes video watching better. When i was watching Thor...the fighting portions were double the fun because the S3 is underlining the epicness with vibrations...For the first time I was thinking...Is this a bug? Is this a feature?..Is this both?
But now I just want to get rid of it..hearing music is ****ty on the long run.

Its not a problem or a fault, its a feature called auto haptic feedback. Think it in the sound setting.
The bass be pumping! Pumping! Pumping!

Yes, shooter games benefit more with this option
Ah nice....Thank you..it was driving me crazy...
When the One first came out, I bought it and ended up returning the phone immediately because the phone's speakers would crackle when watching videos on YouTube. After trying out the S4 for a few days, I decided to bring it back and "settle (don't think that anymore)" for the HTC One. Once I got the phone, I transferred all my music onto it, and when played back, there was no crackling or popping. When I opened up the YouTube app, I noticed 8 seconds into any video the speaker would crack, and then it would happen continuously throughout videos. I found this odd, since the phone had no issues playing back MP3 files. So, I launched the stock browser, went to m.youtube.com and watched the same video. Oddly enough, when you access YouTube videos through the browser, there isn't any crackling or popping. The audio is clear, crisp, and clean. Immediately, I switched back to the YouTube app, watched the same videos, and heard the crackling. So, here's a quick tip for anyone using this phone: bookmark m.youtube.com (if you have subscriptions you can bookmark the subscription feed so it takes you there directly), and stop using the YouTube app. I found the mobile browser version of the site has clean, clear, crackle-free audio, and this issue was originally driving me nuts.
Just thought I'd share.
Cheers.:good:
I don't have the phone but from what I've heard its because of having Beats audio active, try disabling it when you listen to YouTube, if you haven't already
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The problem is so there even with beats turned off
Never actually encountered the crackling sound on the youtube app. But who knows I always update my youtube app to latest version.

Actually I found the problem does go away with Beats Off.
But Beats is available to YouTube and the Browser but like OP said only does it on YouTube.
It definitely sounds better with Beats On and I usually don't care for that stuff but it really smooth's things out and adds needed bass to the tiny speakers so that it's actually pleasant to listen to.
try turning on /off gpu rendering.
I noticed the same thing when using Youtube app. First I thought that it's from the wireless connection, but reading this I understood the situation.
yeah same problem here... anyone actually also notices this crackle noise during voice calls? Its about the same but not as loud and happens not very often and randomly...?
Anyways I can still return my phone for a new one but it seems like all ones have this issue? since it only happens in the app and only during loading I guess its a software issue?
danv28: I just noticed the same thing. It's definitely a software issue that will hopefully be sorted shortly.

The One sounds like crap through the speakers with beats off. I haven't experienced this problem. 1.29.708.4.
Mine had this issue up until I upgraded the firmware then it went away when I re flashed the ROM.

Still better for rock/alternative, instrumentals and techno with Beats off

Well, there's a reason for that. See video:

When beats is turned off, the equalizer doesn't go back to neutral levels, it actually lowers the bass and adds treble to make it sound way worse than it would at neutral levels.
That's how they get you...

Thanks OP, I thought my phone speakers were crapping out on me
I also noticed some games, like flick football (forgot it's real name), would cause distortion with the volume at max levels.
Is anybody getting scratchy noises in the background when watching videos or listening to music in XBMC? I am getting it with every channel, show, or music stream that I listen to in the XBMC app. It is a slight noise in the background, but it still really bugs me.
I've tested youtube and other audio apps already and those were crystal clear so its definitely not a defective speaker.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

That worked!! Although some of my video addons like one channel aren't working no more. I'll experiment with other nightlys thank you for your help!
I tried that as well and can confirm that most of the channels are broken by the nightlies. 1channel and icefilms specifically
I started experiencing that large video playing on YouTube lags the sound, especially when a video is long. The sounds go way ahead from the video. It looks like the phone lacks the ram or performance but it has a decent tech specification, should be an issue, especially when I play a video on a low resolution. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
I have a similar issue with video playback. However, it is not only with youtube, it is with all videos. Even those on google photos, etc. The playback timer doesn't start, but the video starts with no sound, then the playback timer starts with the sound and the video freezes until the sound catches up with the video. The issue disappears with a restart and only started happening recently. Very odd.
Made an account for this lul... Anyways it seems like I fixed the issue on my phone, I disabled the mobile manager, let me know if that works for you. Good luck
I had to update youtube
I'm started noticing this weird issue lately, whenever I watch videos on YouTube or Chrome all the videos I watch are lagging very bad, like frame per frame and no audio, but when I connect my Bluetooth earbuds they run normal speed with audio. Anyone else experiencing this, know what might be causing it or know how to fix it?
I always clean flash
I tried it on 2 different ROMs, still the same issue
I always use the latest Twrp and Stable Magisk
Does your audio work on anything else, such as phone calls? I had this issue on a Pixel 2 and it was because speakers were broken on the phone and I guess the OS was struggling to figure out what to do with the missing speakers.

Yeah, I can hear the sounds from phone calls and my alarm, it just videos for some reason. It doesn't matter where I play the video from even on my Reddit app they're laggy with no audio
I guess no one knows. I'm gonna format and flash the latest OOS in both slots and see if that will do anything.
Edit: Yup, that seemed to have fixed it.
