Revert to 6.0.1 from 7.1.1 - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to rollback to 6.0.1 from 7.1.1?
Ps- I have an unlocked bootloader.

If you have twrp recovery then you can install any 6.01 debloated or full ROM available here as zip files, it is not possible to flash an official 6.01 ROM through fastboot or rsd, it may brick your device.

Please stay in Nougat...
Many people (include me) when downgrade the version.
The phone is dead and without solution...
I buy a new phone.

there is a form to downgrade but its not 100% out of brick.... if you are in official 7.1.1 you have to put another rom.... like lineage or aex ... 7.1.1 then downgrade with a custom rom 6.0.1... later install with fastboot the offcial 6.0.1. plz DONT DOWNGRADE FROM OFFICIAL 7.1.1 TO 6.0.1 (i havent test that... but some people says that it work).

You can try unless you dont want to had brick your device.. Boot loader might have got upgraded along with OS and when u downgrade, even boot loader will be downgraded and it gets corrupted..

Hey Shibin_1985, Before installing official 7.1.1 using fastboot, I made a backup of 6.0.1 using TWRP. I now have 7.1.1 running with TWRP. Can I restore 6.0.1 backup?

U can downgrade to 6.0.1 with in twrp.. No matter u downgrade from stock 7.1.1 or from twrp 6.0.1, boot loader is gonna get downgraded when flashing via adb.. More than 150 devices are hard bricked due to download grading.. Once bricked, there is no other way to get it back to life except jtag emmc flashing (if in India) or to change Mother board which is almost half the price of new MXP.. My bro downgraded MXP and my device was dead for around 2 months.. Later on i got it Jtag flashed from Pune.. There is no Blank flash files available for MXP yet.. So beware.. !!! Don't just mess up a working device, when there is not much solutions to bring it back to life !

Phone is heating :/
Hey friends! My phone is HEATING very much and idk if thats the reason... But i made the same, install a 7.1.1 version and now im in dotOS rom but the same thing happens with any rom...
Does anyone feel the same?

U'll be doing a mistake if u try to downgrade from Nougat 7.1.1 to Marshmallow 6.0.1.. And heating could be of various reasons.. Check the running of background apps, use custom kernels and see ot you can also try battery saving scripts.. It may turn of few cores and will turn it back only when it's required to be on.. So device wont get heated up and consumes less battery..

My XT1563 is no longer recognized by any PC after update to 7.1.1, also turbopower not working, tried different pcs, different cables, hard reset, nothing happens, anyone succeded to downgrade?? anyways... i won't be able to downgrade or flash, or anything if my phone is no longer recognized by any PC ! OMG !!

Try reinstalling all the drivers of PC.. Try if its recognizing phone in bootloader mode.. It'll show if usb is connected.. If that isnt working, then youtlr micro usb port might got damaged.. I have the same case.. My mobile is getting charged.. But not getting connected in USB mode.. Out of 5 pins only 2 is required for charging and rest 3 are required for USB to work.. Any damage of any 1 pin might mess up the port.. I have to replace the port now.

Has anyone managed to do it? I can not stand my x play in 7.1, I feel it will stop so slow

Don't do it via adb.. You can use 6.0.1 ROMs with in TWRP.. Else you'll end up in hard brick and there is no solution to fix it other than changing Mother Board or to get the EMMC jtag flashed.

Flash twrp and flash roms of your choice.. Just don't downgrade using adb.. You'll regret it 200%

Hello, in my case the patient is XT1562 with stock Nougat. So far I've unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP from here. Then, I downloaded stock XT1562 6.0.1 MPD24.107-52 Europe from here. I tried to install it through TWRP but it says 'Invalid zip file format'. After some research it seems that it's not possible to install stock by custom recovery.
To the point then - How to flash stock 6.0.1 if using adb will brick the device? By fastboot?

Flashing Stock ROM of MM by adb (downgrading) will hard brick the device for 100%.. Once bricked, there is no solution to fix it other than changing Mother Board or Jtag Flashing (only very few does it in very few countries).. You can download twrp flashable MM ROM file and flash it.. You can find Debloated stock ROM's in xda.

Yes you can restore the backup you have made using TWRP and you will see the same setup and data of MM as you left it.
Flashing will make your device just as new like out of the box.

Yes by doing so you are downgrading the OS.
You didn't flashed the soak test, right? As you stated that you made a backup of MM so I think you flashed the CM14.1 from the MM. So if you didn't flashed the soak test then you're good to go without any issue.

I am also new to this device so not much sure but for a safe side you should downgrade by flashing stock firmware via adb. And as far as I read and watched the videos on youtube there is not any issue to downgrade to MM if you have unlocked bootloader.
As being an XDA user we always know the risks. Good luck.

Yeah..J3 emerge .. i traded it for my stylo 2 cuz by the time i got it the stock version came updated with an unlockable bootliader...ie it couldnt be recognized in fastboit mode by either my windows adb and my linux machines adb .....also if u did finally get twrp it would wioe your phone after the first time...and root would be erased if you rebooted or powered off...i never got that far. So i got this version...its got a 1.4ghz octa core with 1.5gb ram 16 gb storage...deffinately upgrade ...working on twrp port for verity disable(what erases temp root) and root ...so for now just the oem bootloader was unlocked...I used crom.apk by samsung..its only 79$ on boost so it should sell a ton ...its a great phone running MM ..a dev base soon since 6.0.1 root is not easy atleast some1 will find a way soon but it came out just last month....in 4 days tho i buy the HTC Bolt and its their most expensive android besides S7 at $399....$200 with my code...but ut has root and its specs compare to the LG V20 almost identical. So i will probably find a way trying ne thing...i just need another adb bacup or wait till sammobile posts its firnware....its also 7.0 ota certified (leaked) http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/58b4898d8fc8e/Screenshot_20170227-121811.png?

You just need to follow the Install Instructions on respective threads to your Android version.
[RECOVERY][T.W.R.P-3.0.2.0]Samsung Galaxy J5 [Android 5.1.1]
[RECOVERY] [TWRP-3.0.2-0] Samsung Galaxy J5 [MM][Android 6.0.1]
Use this Odin https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=95375
You can follow this video to see how to install TWRP (ONLY)
Follow only the video instructions to install TWRP, do not use any other links or files
PS: most of the custom ROMs uses Lollypop firmware, i suggest to downgrade to Lollypop before install any custom ROM

Don't forget when flashing twrp to uncheck auto reboot option from Odin, so after twrp flash with Odin you push out battery for 5 sec. and power on with buttons combo into recovery and twrp will ask you if you want to make this changes permanent, just swipe and you're done.?☺?

Its everything you should know about our device, pay attention your model j500f. And important you know the TWRP youre using, it differs when youre are with lollipop and marshmallow. I will suppose that youre on Marshmallow right now, so there are ROMs you can flash straight through twrp. If you wish to try Nougat ROMs, better downgrade as American Jesus States above. Remember to READ carefully, as many of your questions has been answered before. I prefer stable roms, less bugs than newer ones. Try first a ROM without downgrading like CM13 port by Zonik, or stock based ones, just to get confident on your skills, after this you can test downgrading, to taste the latest Nougat and others non-nougat roms that relies on Lollipop firmware. Take your time to first learn and know your device specs and you'll be fine. Hope this help you ???

[Help] Bootloop on SD615 variant

Anyone here tried flashing roms on SD 615 variant? Flashed RR and lineage already and still not able to boot. Stuck on bootanimation then reboots itself. Wiped system data cache internal in TWRP before flashing. Did i miss something? Please heeeelp

I'm using SD615 variant .. ...
First make sure twrp is latest i.e 3.2.1 ..
secondly wipe everything except sd and otg
Try flashing some other rom ... i'd suggest aex or bootleggers ..
let me know what happens then
best of luck :good:

yes dude each and every one is working properly !!
Ok follow this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/zen...601kl-t3333482
ASUS upgraded the firmware for our device recently ... follow this so you get on the latest bootloader (which i'm guessing you have unlocked)
then try wiping then flashing then hit me again if problem arises

2018? Im on stock rom already flashed through stock recovery. I flashed those custom roms on latest 2196 firmware also tried that on older firmwares still no luck
ok then try this ... use adb sideload to install the rom .. google it its pretty easy to do .. then tell me what happens
i tried all custom roms and my phone was fully dead but i managed to get it alive again
here's the solution
after installing any custom rom
go to mount and mark on system
then go to file manager from setting in twrp
open system>etc>firmware then delete the first three folders, i have stock rom now i can't remember wat exactly it's name
enjoy your rom

Hello!

After owning many devices, the time has come this one passes onto my hands, albeit a temporary device, I'll keep it as long as it's functional.
So hello everyone.
Gonna see how to unlock bootloader, flash twrp and most likely RR ROM.
If anyone has any recommendations for roms kernels bugs and anything else a new owner should be aware they'd be appreciated greatly.

R u dev?
So what ur device? Rn3 pro(Kenzo) or Rn3 pro SE(kate) ?
If u can unlock kenzo officially using miunlock tool. Then U r lucky.
But if u want to unlock bootloader unofficially then better do it on recent miui marshmallow rom. Dont do it on lollipop miui.
Latest oreo or pie custom rom need marshmallow miui9 or miui10 bootloader to boot roms. Lollipop miui bootloader cant boot latest custom rom.

No dev, got knowledge though, been flashing since Galaxy S, android 2.1. :silly:
I unlocked using one of the noob guides, flashed latest twrp, but I can't boot any room, it hangs at boot animation.
Hmm.
Any clues?
Solved the issue using this:

I think U didnt do format data in twrp. Thats why ur some rom are not booting. There is option format data. Miui encrypts ur data and internal sd by default. So format data must do to decrypt it.
First format data is must do.
Then u do wipe data factory reset
Then flash rom
Flash gapps
Reboot
Pretty nice, way better than I expected for the 70€ I paid!
Latest RR+Agni kernel.
Sound and display became better as well.
