Mali Driver Dolphin Emmulator - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi I'm thinking of picking up the S8 exynos varient for custom roms obviously. However I've read there are some drivers missing which limit the performance in the Dolphin and PPSSPP Emulators. Is there a Custom Kernel that fixes this problem ?
If there isn't I'll buy another phone this is too much of a dealbreaker for me.

(HELP) s4 i9505 LAGS

hello guys i am a noob here, i have this new s4 from UEA, upgraded to 4.3, tried different country variants, and tried some custom roms but some games lag, like it stutters during gameplay..eg: Plants VS zombies 2 v1.7, i compared it with my s3 and it seemed to run the game faster and smoother than s4. tried googleing up some tips and tricks on the settings but nothing seemed to work...i need some viable advice or help please. THANKS

Same here with some older games, espesh 2D ones.. Knights of Pen and Paper to name one.... It's a problem from the app side, yet to be optimized for newer devices, as far as I know, anyway....
Probably optimization issues. The S4 is likely to be able to handle a light game on 1080p, but a full blown game may lag due to the weak (for its resolution) Adreno 320. Seeing that the Mali 400 series GPU made up more than 25% of the GPU market share, the developers probably put in huge amounts of effort to optimize their apps for that chipset, so the S2/S3 runs them well.

even tried a custom kernel that tweaks the gpu up to 2.3 mhz, well it works on the speed and sped up a bit playing PVZ2 v1.7 but still i could see the stuttering, still not smooth as on s3. hope its just the app and not the cpu/gpu issues.

[Q] With rooting available, any benefit in running a custom rom?

This is such a unique advice given it's a micro console, insofar as when compared to other android devices.
But to maximize gaming performance, would there be a benefit of installing a custom rom?
Quick questions:
1) Like most android devices, does anyone know if this device comes under clocked (in the factory default sense)?
2) Would over clocking this device yield any benefits? hoping it would help smooth out N64 and PSX emulation.
3) Would it be wiser to just stick with the MOJO OS and just wait until an official update (kitkat) to root it? to install the over clocking apps, etc.
4) Is an update actually coming or is this wishful thinking on our parts?lol
Seems like there are so many possibilities for this neat little console. Hoping this device isn't too DOA given that they've priced themselves out of the market and the OUYA craze (whatever little fad it was) seems to be fading fast.
1. There are almost always benefits to custom ROMs....They usually are built for performance, and custom kernels make the world go 'round.
2. There is no problem with PSX emulation (FPSE is perfect on every game I've tried), and the problem with N64 emulation comes down to optimizing the app for the hardware....So I don't think overclocking would solve anything with N64. N64 games run the same on my old Tegra 2 as they do on my Tegra 3 as they do on my MOJO. It's not a fault of the hardware being inadequate.
3. Why wait for an update to root? There's always the chance you would lose root when updating, but there's an equal chance that you wouldn't be able to re-root after the update.
4. I imagine there will be at least one major update to KitKat...Possibly in Q2 or Q3.
For obvious reasons I can't talk to question 2 other than to strongly recommend that you don't overclock - indeed, it's worth repeating here that of course rooting your device does invalidate your warranty. Unlike a lot of Android devices which have battery performance to worry about, M.O.J.O. is not underclocked at all - as we're purely running from the mains there's no reason to do so and there's a massive heatsink in there to prevent thermal issues resulting in reduced performance too.
We are looking to provide an update to KitKat but we'll update on that as and when it's closer to realisation.
Things, you can do now to boost performance is, to set the governor from "interactive" to "performance" and set the min clock speed to 1800 MHz.
Brings some nice boost in benchmarks, but can't really say, that you get a real benefit in gaming.
I believe, that custom kernels and ROMs are not as easy as we think. You see, that even with the fastboot root method, there is no other way to reboot, as to unplug the cables.
So, that means, if I'm not wrong, that you can't temporarily boot/test custom kernels or recoveries.
But maybe someone will find a solution for this...

[Q] Question about Running emulators with slimkat with all f2fs support

I was wondering if anyone knows what effect it has on gaming performance, specifically how does GPU over clocking compare to CPU over clocking with emulators like epsxe,Dosbox turbo, recast...etc. I just rooted my n7 for the first time and this will be my first flashed ROM so noob doesn't even begin to describe me. Still, I was just wondering if anyone had experience with it and would emulators got off of Google play even work on since from what I read you need slim gapps instead of the others, though those are Google proprietary apps. Could any one help me out?

[Q] Custom Kernel

Does anyone plan to built a custom kernel for our s3 neo? Would be very nice to get a performance boost especially for gaming For example GTA San andreas, i know adreno 305 is incompatible with the game but maybe it would be more playable with an overclocked GPU? Thankyou for your hard work all of you developers for this device
i think it wouldn't make a big difference...
because the game itself is laggy on most android phones (lack of optimization, for example on an iphone much better optimized) , most other games on s3 neo perform very well so it's probably the fault of rockstar games. however that's my opinion
You are right with low Ende devices but in my friends devices with snapdragon 615 it runs 100% smooth all the time on highest settings everwhere, and Here it lags still with lowest settings. I know its incompatible, but maybe an overclock can make it run with more than 10-20 fps. I think GTA SA got more stable on most devices with its last updates. Unfortunately, even GTA 3 runs "only" good , not very good on highest settings, and GTA vice City even Lage sometimes on mid settings. Maybe you are right and it is Rockstars fault, but maybe an overclock can cause a slightly Vetter performance. Other games like MC5 and dungeon hunter run very smooth. Emulators like drastic and n64 Emulators also, and Ppsspp in most cases well. But it would be nice if wie could max out the performance. I know it will cause battery darin, but when gaming at home it doesnt matter. If i had the abilty to develop a kernel or anything for this device, i would. But i dont own a PC and dont have the knowledge
I searched for that bug and found that it's an Adreno 305 problem, for example the Moto G got a GPU update and made GTA SA run better. Here's the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2721136
We just need someone to adapt it for our phone.
Yes gta san andreas that work smooth for our device...it would be a dream
Oh this would be very very nice if someone is able to port this
I'm working on a custom kernel but i need time because i'm new in android dev, till now i've worked only on linux kernel

Thats very nice take yourself as mich time as you need if i could i would offer you to be a tester but if i get into a bootloop i have got a big problem because i dont own a PC so i would be in need of a friend's help. As i got this phone New i flashed an old s3 kernel so recovery die not work which was really stupid
There is a custom Kernel for CM12.1?
Custom Kernel
hello,
i have galaxy S3 neo GT-I9300I
if I flash custom karnel on my device...... then if i want to revert back to my default kernel........ so how can I do that????

Use Flashify. It has a kernel backup option.

Best performance ROM for turning S5 into deticated emulaiton console

I upgraded recently and had my S5 (tmobile, rooted) sitting around and decided to using it for emulation gaming. Some emulators run really well (Reicast for example) while others have some serious issues. Speciifically, the PPSSP emulator is fantastic but many games have audio stuttering issues. I have tried some suggestions and will try some more (such as changing the governance of the CPU to performance) but my question is, can anyone suggest a specific ROM for getting the best performance out of the S5.? I am no stranger to custom ROMs, but I am having a hard time figruing out is there is one or some that would be particularly better for my setup.
Thanks.

Use a cm based rom. Flash boefella kernel over clock the cpu and gpu.nothing more can be done.
