Sony Compact X automatically starts when/after charging - Sony Xperia X Compact Questions & Answers

Do you also have this problem? And what to do about it? The phone automatically starts when charging it or after fully charging it (I did not yet monitor whether it is when or after). Can I shut off the starting in the settings? Thank you!

By automatically starts, do you mean from full power off? Are you rooted/flashed kernel?

The phone starts while still charging (but seems to be when 100% is reached), cable is still connected. No, phone is not rooted.

I might not be the only one, but there is not yet a solution:

Phone always turn on when plug usb cable/charge

My X10 always turn on when i plug usb cable to charge. Even if i first shut down the phone. Why?!!!
I think its to do with the fact the phone stops charging when it gets to100%. It needs to be on to manage that process.

happened to me aswell. It was impossible to turn off the phone lol.
Yea, once the phone is in charger, you can't turn it off.
It will charge to 100% stop charging, stand by until 90% and resume charging to 100%
Android is linux so, to check the charge lvl it needs to be turned on so, i assume this is the reason of auto power on. I can't say is 100% true but ..

I love this feature as it prevents the phone from overcharging

Nope. I had a HTC Magic and it did not do that. It is a SE feature; trying to look like the Iphone.
its possible. hold down the back button for 5 seconds after turning off completely. prevents it from coming back on.

Thanks for the tip.
Just a question, did you notice whether the charge light went off after reaching full charge?
[Edit: Nope. It it did not work. The phone turned on again. For a second, I thought this may work].
@vistador. Maybe your htc magic had a different type of battery to the x10? x10 is lithium polymer, not lithium ion.

NAND Phone-Off Charge Issue - *WORKAROUND*

I've been having this problem since the first installation of MAGLDR; The "Orange LED" bug, as most of us know, prevents the phone from charging while the phone is off, and the LED remains orange even AFTER the phone is unplugged. I've found a few circumstances where this will occur:
1. Powering down the phone with USB plugged in causes this issue with most builds
2. Same as #1 but when doing a reboot
3. Phone dies, then plugging USB will bring about the "orange LED" bug
I've found a workaround for these as I'm sure MANY of you have already, but I wanted to post a thread just for people who haven't found an answer yet. The following list corresponds to the items above:
1. Unplug USB before selecting "Power off" on your device
2. " " " " "
3. Kinda tricky.. a) if phone is COMPLETELY dead, pull the battery, plug USB, THEN replace battery, and b) If phone has battery and is OFF, power on phone, wait until "GO! GO! GO!" screen disappears, and then plug in USB.
I think the problem comes about when finishing the installation of your ROM via MAGLDR, OR it could be a bug within MAGLDR itself. It could quite possibly be the kernels, as JDMS' UltimateDroid ROM did NOT cause the orange LED when a REBOOT was performed...
Well either way, I hope this helps some people avoid this problem and gives the dev's something to work on.. Not that their work goes unappreciated
Or do like me. Leave the phone on, put it in flightmode and charge it.

How would this help if phone is completely dead? Seriously, this could be useful. Can someone try this and confirm?

I'm afraid to answer here as the OP might get upset, or tell me to start my own new thread.
Anyway. As I like to help people I will answer your question.
I bought a new battery for my HD2, and it did not have enought power to power on the phone (running NAND).
Not sure if this fixed the charging problem, but I removed the battery for +/- 30 seconds, reinserted the "dead" battery, plugged in the charger.
After some time (seconds) the orange battery came on, and the battery was beeing charged.
I left the phone charging for some time (expecting the light to go green when done), but it never did (NANDproblem?)
So after 1/2 day of charging, I disconnected the charger, and guess what.. the oragne light was still on.
Again I removed the battery, reinserted it again, and powerd on the phone.
The battery was fully charged, and I'm now enjoying 2 to 3 days of phone use before needing to charge it again.
Now.. I'm not 100% sure about 1st connecting the charger, and reinsering the battery, or 1st reinsering the battery and than connecting it to the charger.
I'm having charging issues but in a different way.
when i plug the charger to the phone while the screen is off, the LED does not light until I i press the red button (actually any button) to wake up the screen.
Is anybody having a similar issue?

This is not a problem for me too. The real problem is with whatsapp
when ever someone sends me a message on whatsapp while the screen is off, i dont receive it until i press the power button to unlock the screen. So i thought this might have anything to do with the charge issue.
I have no problem with this bug,he it is on the charger,so why turn it off is my question.....i just turn the sound off lol.

[Q] Can you stop screen from coming on when charged/charging?

Hi,
Some custom roms like AOKP allows to enable / disable the "Wake up on charger". If it's unticked the screen don't turn on if you plug / unplug your phone from USB or wall charger.
EDIT: sorry misreading, it's for wireless charging...
I have accomplished this with some Tasker (app) profiles i found on the forum. I have attached them. The profile turns off the screen after 3 seconds of starting charging then prevents it from coming on again. Perfect for inductive chargers that lose charge for a microsecond every little bit. It also keeps the screen off after removing from the charger, you have to manually press the lock button.

Works for me. Screen never comes on after the first three second, which I lowered to one second. have you locked the phone first before you put it on the charger?

I use the orb to charge my N4 at work. This works great until it reaches a full charge. At this point the screen turns on as wireless charging shuts off. Then a minute or so later when it drains to 99%, the screen turn on as wireless charging starts back up. Then when it reaches full charge a minute or so later.... yada yada yada. This is beyond annoying watching my phone flash continuously. My only "solution" at this point is to slide the phone up so that the wireless charging doesn't work and leave it that way until it drains further. Is there any way to tell the screen to NOT come on when charging starts or stops?

How familiar are you with messing with Android?
In system\framework\framework-res.apk\res\values\bools.xml there is this option: <bool name="config_unplugTurnsOnScreen">false</bool>
It is set to true by default but if changed to false, as far as I can tell, the screen won't turn on when you start/stop charging the phone.

I'm assuming you have to be rooted to be able to do this, right?

Yes - best case scenario for editing that value is that you're rooted and deodexed. That way framework-res.apk will be more easily editable.

Restarting on charging

my razr m restarting when i plugged charger after 4 5 mints restart.i tried safemode tried another charger other wise phone is working fine just rebooting on charging after 5 mints
Mine frequently restarts too, several times a day, whether on the charger or off. I've tried taking logcats but there doesn't seem to be any consistent trigger. I'm on the last version of JB.

any solution bro?
can custom roms solve this issue?
If you connect phone when turned off to 500mA charger (or computer), the phone will power on.
Or it restarts also in other situations?

Mine restarts on its own at random with no prompting, several times per day, while already powered on. This happens whether or not it's connected to a charger. I haven't been able to figure out what's causing it. I haven't tried any custom roms, just the stock JB ROM.
So you are on JB? There are problems with random reboots on KK on GSM network, but I don't know about it on JB. You can try custom ROM or kitkat flash 163.46.10, NOT .15 if you don't have your bootloader unlocked.

I'm still on JB. My bootloader is locked. I've done the GSM edit and I'm on T-Mobile. Could just be a GSM problem? I remember my old Droid 3 would get occasional freezes and reboots, and it was on T-Mobile also.
On KitKat, there is problem with GSM causing random reboots and freezing. It can be solved by freezing FastDormancyMonitor app. But I'm not sure about JB. I'm on GSM too and I haven't noticed any reboots when I was on JB. You can try updating to kitkat (and rooting and disabling fastdormancymonitor). Not sure if this will help
I've read about the FastDormancy issue and I have it disabled on my JB phone, along with the build.prop edits that are supposed to turn it off too. I was hoping to avoid having to move to KK to fix the issue, especially as it sounds like some people on GSM are having the issue on KK too.

It's a feature. It's so done by Motorola, that when connected to PC (or 500mA charger), it powers up.

still same prob what can i do bro
What problem? If you mean power on after plugging phone to PC or less than 1A charger, you can do nothing. It is so, it is so on all DROID RAZR M's and it can't be changed.
This is also a safety feature. If you were to try this with phone on and plugged into PC with battery protection interlocks defeated, what will happen? Obviously you will damage the battery. Not to mention the Lithium polymer batteries are pretty touchy (they can blow up if you as much as stroke them the wrong way).
Mine restarts randomly 3 or 5 times per day.. Its exhausting

Keeps turning on when charging, how do I stop it?

I ran my phone down to empty battery, so I went to charge it. As it was already powered off I left it because, surely, it would charge faster that way.
When I came back to take it off the charger I discovered the phone powered on, display on full brightness, WiFi on and everything, and the phone hadn't charged sufficiently at all.
I never told it to turn on but it does this every time, and even when I turn it back off it turns back on again!!! ???
Thanks for your answers! ?
The same thing happens to me... no offline charging on our G6's, at least not after reaching around 5% of battery.
So when I want to charge my g6 faster, I will plug it in and make sure it's charging and then I will power it off. It will act like it's booting back up but it won't.

You can't change that. The only workaround is to turn it off after you have connected the charger. Since I use wireless charging, that is a difficult option for me so I just gave up.
You can't ffs, it has auto boot after 3-4% of charging. And thats not even a bad thing. If you want charge it faster turn airplane mode on, on charging.

Try factory reset first. If still the same then it sounds like a battery failure, which can be replaced but not easily.

when i plug into charging it shutdown sometime with heat temperature warning sometime without ..i think its not battery issue ..as other people also face different issue like when they plug in device tirn off it automatically turn on when plug in ..
by the way why there is option in USB debuggin menu for Unlock OEM and usb debugging as it cant be unlocked :crying:

That option in settings is there whether you can OEM unlock the device or not... Also, most or at least some G6 models can be OEM unlocked.
That temperature warning is still probably your battery. Batteries can get extremely hot when they malfunction (much more so than the other components alone) so I'd get it checked out or you may have a Note7 in your hands

So still no fix for the issue? Mine is turning on when charging as well, I mainly use wireless charging but it happens when charging with the USB cable AND when charging wirelessly. The phone will not stay powered off. Any suggestions? I have the most recent Android 8.0.0 update, VS988 on Verizon. I've never had an issue like this on Android, very frustrating.
I also found this link from LG. It seems to be software based, why would they do this?

In my case I drained the battery during usage thus not performing a graceful shutdown. When I try to charge into the wall it displays the charging icon on the screen and runs out of power and shuts down again-->Won't Charge.... I plugged the cable into my computer which seems to perform a slower charge --> the battery icon does not display and I am able to charge... this is silly as as a workaround solution. How to prevent the battery icon from display during charge?
This worked for me and it was so simple. I was looking in the wrong place for an answer.
On the plug end, where the USB cable is plugged into the plug, I noticed that the cable did not seem to be pushed in all the way. I pulled it out of the plug, then reinserted it as far as it would go.
Voila! The problem went away. I can now turn off my phone, insert the charging plug, and the phone goes into fast charge and, most importantly, stays powered OFF. Try it. this might work for you as well.
