Hello, as everyone knows you can unlock the phone just by placing our finger on the home button (in turn fingerprint reader), is there any way that can be blocked again with this same method?

I like using an app to lock my phone, and I have this one installed:

It locks the screen, but I notice that the Nexus 6p will not allow me to wake the phone via the fingerprint sensor.
If I use the app to lock the screen, and then use the fingerprint sensor, the phone prompts me to enter my pin.
If I use the power button to lock the screen, the fingerprint sensor works as intended.
Thoughts?
My thoughts would be that this app has not been updated to include fingerprint sensors to be able to unlock.
Once it does that, I assume it would work.
Either that or only an official method of locking the screen can allow your fingerprint to unlock.

i would love to be able to turn the screen off and lock with the fingerprint scanner. hence - we would never have to touch the power button.

Every time I use finger print to open my phone it always ask for PIN straight after, how do I turn off the PIN I just want to use finger print to open my phone? Thanks
If it's asking for the pin after you use the finger print without ever unlocking the screen first then it's not recognizing your finger print.
Are you locking it with double tap on nova prime or with the screen timing out? Those both force the PIN for me.

I have just enabled the smart unlock feature and set it to unlock when I'm at my home address, but when I lock my phone with the power key and then press the home button, it still asks me to unlock with my fingerprint!
What am I doing wrong?

I think if you have a finger print registered then to unlock by holding the home button you need to use that finger. You should though be able to swipe the screen to unlock without using a pin or password etc.

Thanks for the reply but that's not correct, if I set the smart unlock feature to unlock when the device is in my hand it works fine and I can unlock the phone just by swiping the lock screen,no fingerprint required, it just seems that the location feature doesn't work correctly.

I have tried with many lock screen widget/applications and screen is locked but can not open with fingerprint scan, only unlock with pin code. Is there any widget/application that will be working with fingerprint, to unlock the screen, thanks.
If i understand it right you want fingerprint unlock but with some widget on your lock screen ? If that so you can't because finger print sensor is mounted in power button not screen itself so basicly what you want is impossible. ?

- only on and off without smartlock
is there another way to turn the display on and off without using the power button - without the lock function
