Unable to root Moto X Play

Hi all, I was interested in installing cyanogenmod in my MXP, so I needed to root it first.
I went on with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/general/untested-how-to-root-moto-x-play-t3211941. I was able to unlock the bootloader (step III).
When I tried to flash a custom recovery (step IV), the comand prompt was unable to process my request, the message I get after entering "fastboot oem get_unlock_data" is: 'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file."
I don't know what I could've done wrong. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
BTW my MXP got to factory settings after step III, was this to be expected? If not, may I have confused the files?
When I enter into fastboot mode I can read:
AP Fastboot flash mode (secure)
...
Device is UNLOCKED. Status code: 3
Any other info you may need to help me, I will provide it as soon as I can.
Thanks in advance
so I realized since it got to factory settings, it didn't have developer access. I enable it and got to install the recovery image.
Now, I am unable to "install from zip" in the recovery menu. The option just does not appear, besides before entering into the menu I get stuck with the "no command" screen, and just after pressing power + volume up I enter into it.
Any insight?

First and foremost thing - To install a custom rom you don't need to root. You just need an unlocked bootloader and twrp installed.

There is some Recoverys and Su files to find with Google search but...
... There is no meta mode/bootloader (fastboot) drivers for the Blade v7.
If everybody has manage to root or unlock the bootloader share the drivers plz )
:fingers-crossed:
The bootloader can be unlocked in the Settings. Enable "Developer Options" by going to "Settings > About" and then click on the "Build Number" until you see a message "You are now a developer". From the General Settings a new menu option "Developer Settings" is now available. In "Developer Settings" there is a setting called "OEM Unlocking". Set it to true, then use fastboot to unlock the bootloader with "fastboot oem unlock"
Fastboot doesn't work (I'm on ArchLinux). It just doesn't detect the device at all, so after typing "fastboot oem unlock", it just says "< waiting for any device >"
ADB works, but I can't get fastboot to work (even as root)
I am experiencing the same issue on OSX. ADB works but fastboot doesn't ever connect. I wrote a script to run lsusb every second while switching the phone between recovery, bootloader, and normal boot. Here are the vendor ids with my notes in parentheses:
Code:
ID 0e8d:2000 MediaTek Inc. MT65xx Preloader (for 3 seconds pre boot)
ID 0e8d:2000 MediaTek Inc. MT65xx Android Phone (Bootloader)
ID 0e8d:2008 MediaTek Inc. MT65xx Android Phone Serial: 0123456789ABCDEF (OFF "charge screen")
ID 19d2:0307 19d2 BLADE Serial: 10063399 (During boot before decrypt volume screen [pin])
ID 19d2:0306 19d2 BLADE Serial: 10063399 (After entering in password to decrypt volume)
I wrote a script that ran
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0e82 devices
and
Code:
fastboot -i 0x19d2 devices
every second and it never returned anything during these different boot cycles. Recovery mode doesn't seem to produce any usb devices even after initiating an adb sideload. These tests were conducted with the Developer Option "OEM Unlocking" enabled in Marshmallow 6.0. The device is branded for the Telcel operator located in Mexico.
Are there really "drivers" that need to be installed above and beyond the android platform tools? It seems to me as if the fastboot interface to the bootloader was intentionally disabled by the manufacturer.
did anybody figure anything out? I tried using spft and flashing a recovery for a device which was basically identical however i seem to have bricked my device, (won't switch on, doesn't even light up when charging) if anybody figured anything out that'd be great
Fastboot
fastboot is only avaible when youre out of Metamode , you will still stuck there because you got no Serialnr .
Thats ok you dont need any to get root .
If someone wants to get root access pm me i´ve done it already.

As said, the device does not leave the screen of the leeco, does not start in recovery and fastboot mode. So there is no way I can restore using TWRP. The device is recognized only by the qualcom tool. I need a guide on how to use it. Anyway, thank you for your time.

Stuck with Fastboot, DFU and locked bootloader

Hello, I am totally lost... I've been trying to solve this problem for 2 weeks... I relocked my bootloader by mistake. Since that day, I can only access : fastboot and DFU mode.
It seems I can flash recovery with fastboot, but the phone never boots into recovery (stuck on ZTE logo).
I've tried to put my device in EDL mode with DeepFlash cable but without success so far... Is there any solution to my problem (without tearing down my device).
Thanks
Which recovery did you flash? tenfar's signed one? Did you try stock recovery?
When stuck in ZTE logo, is 'adb devices' command recognized? What does your phone appear in Windows device manager?
Edit:
Also in fastboot mode, "fastboot devices" command did work I assume?
Maybe in last resort you can try to unlock back: "fastboot oem unlock" ?

Maybe the problem is no-verify? I have no idea how you can flash that since you would do that from TWRP, but it might be the problem. Try to read some guides to see if that's the problem

It is either recognized in DFU mode or QUSB__BULK but Axon7tool is not able to communicate with the device....

Well I don't know what you searched, but there are 2 guides around. Use my DFU unbrick guide. Yes it involves taking the phone apart
May I ask, how did you relock? Was it via axon7toolkit?
No, I just use command fastboot oem lock

Do you have an A2017G? Are you sure that you have a DFU brick? Did you try any of the other methods to get to EDL?
I have b2017g, I lock bootloader then stuck in zte logo an reboot, only when I press volume up and down enter to fastboot mode I try to unlock I got massage not allowed

Then why are you on the Axon 7 section?? Only use Axon 7 mini guides or you'll brick your phone much more
The Mini may not even have the test point on the same place. I don't know if there are miflash packages for it. I can't help you, ask someone on that section, not here
Edit: I think I might be able to help you though. Find a TWRP made for the axon 7 mini, no idea which is the name. Then use 'fastboot boot' with it. You will have TWRP but a locked bootloader. Ask someone over the axon 7 mini section whether they have aby ideas.

Flash universal bootloader and the modem for A2017 from the lineage os thread. Then you should get radio signal again.

Is your bootloader unlocked? Do you have TWRP? If you do, go to the LineageOS thread (located over 'ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries') and download the 'A2017X Universal Bootloader' and 'A2017 Modem' from there (there should be a link to androidfilehost where the universal bootloader and modem files are located). Be sure that you download the A2017 modem file (NOT the A2017G or A2017U one!).
After that simply put them on your phone and flash them via TWRP
