Engineering mode Lenovo Tab 4 TB-8504F - Thinkpad Tablet General

Hello all
I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to access engineering mode for my tablet. I am finding that the media sound volume when I am playing games and watching movies is too loud even when one step up from mute.
Or any other method to lower the volume would also help.
My tablet is Lenovo Tab 4 TB-8504F.
Thanks in advance

sounds like you need root. it will let you modify sound levels past stock options. See here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/thinkpad-tablet/general/twrp-root-tab-4-plus-tb-x704l-f-tb-t3664407

You can turn the Dolby off also that will quiet it down a bit more. However root is what I am trying for my self.

You can get root by flashing TWRP and then SuperSU. I also got root working with Magisk.

Dolby mobile help please

So. I've noticed that the sound on my tablet seems to acting strange.
If I enable Dolby mobile in the settings while music is playing it sounds quite good. Then when exiting the settings menu Dolby seems to switch off even though its still ticked. Tried different music players.
Hope someone will test this out on there's.
I have searched but couldn't find no info on this
Cheers

Ok so i tested on my girlfriends TAB and hers does not do the same thing.
Sigh!
Well i guess its something to do with been rooted and removing some of the bloatware acer installed. been looking for a reason to install flex anyway
hope this helps someone else in the future.
I'm fully Stock and have the same issue.
i think any dolby software really need DTS hardware to work properly.
I didn't have this issue prior to ICS

I have an odd sound issue.
I was listening to some tunes with my headphones the other week and I seemed a little thin and tinny. Then I got an email notification and suddenly the volume level seemed to drop, but the sound was much fuller with a good base level.
A few nights later.... same thing... WTH ??
Actually if I turn off Dolby and then back on it sounds great..... its like it is not on by default even tho it is checked like it is.

I decided to go custom. A lot less problems so far. Was just a bit of nightmare getting unlocked boot loader but was worth it in the end

Fixed, disable all sounds and you shouldn't have issues with Dolby EQ
I found a fix for you guys having trouble with the Dolby Equalizer, it turns out the EQ cuts off when you tap the screen and the sound effects are not compatible with Dolby where it's two separate EQ's for music and video, it seems that the treble and bass EQ still work because that EQ is system wide but the problem lies with the preset EQ's for music and video, so if you use the tablet to watch movies or listen to music, disable all the system sound effects such as screen tap sounds, lock sounds and keyboard touch sounds, you can still use vibrate for the keyboard, reply how you made out, but it should work.

very low sound volume on NETFLIX

Hey everyone,
have you guys notice how low is the sound volume on Netflix ,when I try to watch a movie I hardly hear it.
Is there any fix for this ?
Thanks!
Edit : also in YouTube having the same issue.
You need to provide more information: ie. What version of android are you running (4.2, 4.2.1, 4.2.2)? Are you on stock or custom ROM? Has this always happened or just started after ___________ ?
I am on 4.2.2 stock Rom (just rooted) and I have no trouble with the volume with Netflix. (tuning in over vpn)
I'm on the latest 4.2.2 .
I was watching this movie flawless and volume was very low but when im listen to music its not as low as on Netflix.
I just noticed lately.
Thanks

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Netflix since you've updated to 4.2.2?

Hi thanks
Yes I just did and its seems the same ,when I go to that same movie flawless I got the same low volume
Would you be able to try and tell me how you find the volume?
Thank you!
Ummm... Well, there's the trusty volume switches at the top corner of the tablet. Press those left and right until something happens.

There's not a separate volume control hidden inside Netflix.
The volume switches on the tablet control the volume on Netflix. If its all the way up, that's as loud as it will play

Yes thanks
Its not loud enough.
Its a Netflix issue cause everything else is OK.
I have the same issue, happens on a few other various apps too.
Same issue here on my Nexus 7 (2013). I fixed it by loading my music app which also had low output. I used the volume button and turned it up and got a popup from system asking if I want to damage my hearing to tap yes - I'm paraphrasing. I hit yes and all's well now. Hope this helps someone.
Now I can get back to Orange Is The New Black..

If your rooted then you simply must install ViPER4Android. It will change your sound on headphones, speakers and bluetooth. It had such an impact on my N10 speakers that I rarely use earplugs anymore.
Adding volume (gain) is the least it can do. As far as I'm concerned Google should buy the app and add it to stock android.

Even though it sounds like I'm over hyping it, I'm not.

[Q] Volume control

When playing music or listening to an audio books, I set the volume to full but after a minute or so it drops to about 75%. I've looked around without any luck.
Perhaps somebody can directed me to the right place to be a lock on the volume.
Thanks

Maybe that Adapt Sound thing is enabled and configuring your volume automatically. Did you check this? If it's enabled, disable it.
Settings>Sound>Adapt Sound
No luck with adapt sound
Sounds like something to do with the hearing damage warning.Try to find a way to reset it.Some countries have specific laws about it so your CSC may have something to do with it.
Good luck.
thanks, Fellas
The culprit was an app called VOLUME LOCK, which worked fine on an Note 1 but was either installed incorrectly or doesn't work properly on an N3. It's gone and I have no more troubles with the volume on my device.
Thanks again for your input.

[Q] Any volume boost for non rooted phone?

I had a rooted LG G2. I used Viper for Android which was excellent. I have not rooted my Note 3. Are there any apps or mods to boost the volume without rooting the phone? I'm more concerned with headphone and Bluetooth volume. I rarely use the speaker. Thanks..
Specifically I use MX player for most videos. It has a built in function to boost volume buts it's still quiet. Music volume is ok as I use Power Amp. Is there really no way to raise the volume on Android 4.3 phones without rooting?
why not root it, then you can use viper????

Not sure that I'll be able to root the phone. I have a Mac. I haven't found any way to do it on a Mac.

[Q] How to get Viper4Android and Poweramp to work.

Hi Folks,
I would appreciate your help please. I'm trying to get V4A to work with Poweramp without success. I've scoured XDA and the internet for solutions.
I'm rooted running stock with Art. Has anyone running Art been able to get this combo to work? If so please help!
Thank you!
I've managed to get it to work except I have to manually turn off Poweramp's eq everytime I plug in my headphone jack or switch to BT. Anyone know how to permanently turn off Poweramp's eq? Thanks!
P.s problem solved!
I managed to turn off the pa eq! It came to me in a eureka moment as I awoke this morning. You have to unassign each preset that you have set for headphones, speaker or Bluetooth. So make sure non are showing and eq will stay off!
The combination of PA with V4A is stunning!
Unassign the presents in Poweramp or V4A?

Get SElinuxchanger if your rom is set to enforcing, set it to permissive and you have to run V4A in compatibility mode - that way it works for me, however the sound quality is MAYBE not so good in this mode, in normal mode I get better sound quality I think
Same Problem
Hey guys, for the last few weeks Viper4android worked fine on my poweramp, however suddenly the processing status was set to "no".
I did all the necessary steps to enable V4A,like disabling equalizer, direct volume control etc. , so I don't know what the problem could be. V4 A does work on other music players though. But still as I prefer it to work on my Poweramp, please help me if possible to find a solution.
