Where's the moisture sensor on this thing? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

I am buying a used OP5 tomorrow. Where's the moisture sensor?

It's better to wait till November end for OnePlus 5t, for great OnePlus experience

My phone just crapped out. I am not waiting till late November.

My G3 dies just weeks before G5 release.

Such a bad news. My G3 855 finally dies a silent death just weeks before G5 is expected to be announce. After updating to excellent MM30b and invested in a new battery I was finally getting consistent 4+ SOT and quite happy.
Also I didn't mentioned my backup G2 died a month earlier. Leaving me without any phone.
Good bye G2/G3, its been a good runs.

The LG G5 is expected to be announced on February 21 at Mobile World Congress in Spain this year.
I am watching the little crack at the base....
My phone has developed the crack at the base of the phone across the opening for the microphone. I noticed literally days after the 1 year warranty was up. I can hardly wait until the G5 is avail here. I figure it was my fault for getting the otterbox case which requires considerable effort to put on and take off. My fault also for installing custom roms which might require the odd battery pull. Great phone, I hope it lasts.....
Cracked base is normal after a few months of use. LG realised this defect and fix it for free. In my case I had the crack top and base after 4 weeks of use and waited until almost the end of warranty to get it replace. LG service honored the warranty and I got almost a brand new phone.
A few weeks back both my LG G2 and G3 went dead weeks apart. I was really happy with stamina on both phone especially G3 after MM update and new battery.
I am now on Samsung Note 5, I felt that both LG phone dead with mainboard problem after 1-2 years of usage is a sign for me to move on to other brand. Compare to my older galaxy nexus which now serves as my back up phone, I hope I can get better durability with Samsung.

Would you buy the Nexus 6P again?

So the other day I dropped my 6P right on the power button (while it was in my Speck case) and it caused it to get jammed in and unusable. Thankfully, Huawei said repair is covered by warranty, which I have a few months left of. This got me thinking, though, that if something were to happen again, would I buy this phone again?
The answer for me is absolutely. I bought my Graphite 64GB for $799 CAD, and in my Googling, I found the 128GB variant for $775 CAD on B&H. To me this is an absolute steal, and with the Pixel phones introducing iPhone-level prices, I wouldn't think again about owning another one of these. What do you guys think, would you hang on to the Nexus line as long as you can, or get something new?
I wouldn't. Using a Spigen case and keeping it in my front pocket, it has bent. Not enough to crack the screen (yet) but enough that I can see it. Especially by the power button and volume rocker. And the games I've been playing lately are PinOut and Auralux 2. Neither seem to be all that graphically intensive, but both are apparently intense enough to tax the SD810 processor and cause it to throttle from over heating. Much happier with my Pixel.
So what's the price of the Pixel XL if you wanted one of those?

I'm not a small guy. Fairly big front pants pockets. And I'm not the kinda guy who wears skinny jeans. Lol
Mine broke down, got a refund and bought the 3T
I am giving it back and getting the 6P again - so the answer is yes
I woudnt. I dont like the display which i cant see stuff outside

I would buy a 6P with a better SoC and same design and price. I find Pixel's design ugly and boring as hell. It is also too expensive and with that price I would rather buy an iPhone. I like 6P's design and love the stereo speakers.
I just love the way the phone looks. Nice big display, front facing speakers and great low light pics. An updated processor and ois for video is all that is really needed. Wish Huawei would do a 3T with this one. With a black rhinoshield bumper, my black 6p looks sleek and stealth like...corny as that might sound.
May be future Pixel XL 2017 model.
I've only had mine for 4 days and finally had time to root tonite. I don't hate it yet.
I thought about the Pixel XL but couldn't get around the looks or the price point.
This has been my first phone ive owned for over a year and havent even thought of upgrading yet. The pixel looks like dog sh1t and the price tag is out of control. The battery dieing at random % bug is pissing me off lately, but besides that i truly love this device.
Coming from the LG G4 and Nexus 5 . I really liked and wanted a Pixel but the Price point kept me away. Found a 128gb 6p on B&H and decided to try. So Far so good. I would love to have some of the Pixel rom's features but really do not need assistant. Overall its a nice device and I would purchase again.
Yes I would and technically I did haha. I bought one in April of this year and had it up to August when the Note 7 came out. Sold it and got the N7 and had that for a month and we all know what happened there heh. Returned the Note and ended up buying another 6P. I was originally just getting it to hold me down until the Pixel XL, but once I saw what it had and it's price point, I was like "Nah".
The 6P imo is one of the best phones ever made. It was a good price, AOSP, plenty of mod support, great performance and my god the speakers?? I don't think I could get another device without front facing speakers.
Currently running it stock, unrooted on 7.1.1 and it's running problem free. Love it.

Install the Cortex ROM for the 6P. It brings the entire pixel phone experience and is probably the most stable and smoothest rom out there.
Maybe next year's 2017 Nexus comeback after Google retires the Pixel!
I'd buy an updated 6P is a heartbeat. A better CPU and OIS and it'd be perfection.

We know this may or will not happen. Huawei and Google have moved on. As long as Google is tied to a carrier the Pixel Phone will be priced very high.
Since the 6P was notorious for throttling with VR, when I came across a good deal on a 2 day old XL on Swappa I pounced on it.

Redmi Note 7/pro Bend and Break

Hey guys..
Give me some insights on redmi note 7/pro bend and break.
Even jerryrig bent it easily.
Pro version launched at an incredible price in India but this bend thing is only deal breaker for me right now.
Plz help guys. Really love this phone.
Believe me !
It's not a deal breaker.
If it was, then Apple would have gone bankrupt (6s incident)
There's no way you're going to band your phone this much in real life.
Bend test doesn't portray any real life application, T.G himself said this in his video sometime ago (before he got paid by Samsung ?)
Besides it got GG5 on both front and back and is strong as hell.
You can even break avocados with it and it'll survive and that is incredible (no joke)
You'll never have to deal with a broken display because you accidentally dropped your phone
Yes it bent for me slightly
I have been using redmi note 7 for more than a month. Last week I noticed the phone is very slightly bent near the low volume button. It's not noticeable easily. But you can see when you observe closely.

Returning my s10+

Hello all,
Not sure if anyone will have a response to this. I've decided to return my S10+ to go back to my Pixel 3 XL. I don't think this phone is worth $450 more than my Pixel. A question I had though was around the screen protector. I took the stock screen protector off because I wasn't having luck with my fingerprint, but now that I'm returning it, do you think Samsung will charge me anything? I bought some aftermarket wet ones that I considered putting on, but not sure if that'll make a difference.
Any insight will be helpful.
Thanks!
I too am returning. I don't think you'll have any problems. Tell them you took it off to try to prevent returning it, but it was still not functional.
I'm returning also. Not enough of an upgrade from my note 9
S10e the way to go. I sold my s10 a day after I brought it. Decent phone but that fingerprint is crap. My xiaomi mi 9 is miles better and that uses 5th gen optical sensor not ultra sonic. Loving the side fingerprint scanner on the s10e it's perfect. Shame it couldn't of been slightly bigger phone at least 6" anyway

I agree totally, , my wifes s10e is a far better experience than my s10+, not sure if i'll return my s10+ yet, gonna give it another week, i traded my s9+ for the s10+ so not much of an upgrade. My wife traded an s7 edge for the s10e and the upgrade is worth it for faster os, better pictures, smaller footprint etc.

So who's getting one?

Seems to have some awesome specs. I've personally been waiting for one of these devices to get wireless charging before I jump in so I'm crossing my fingers. Otherwise it seems to have the same basic feel and design which is great.
I'll be taking it for a spin...once price, purchase, trade in, etc. are official.
I will most likely get one, although I am a bit disappointed. I know most people are looking forward for wireless charging. I don't care too much about that. I was excited for at least 50w fast charging, but apperently it's not going to happen. Still going to get one most likely.
I'll be trading my 7t in on one for sure

OnePlus Ho
Yep have to admit, I'm a ho. I'll be getting one as soon as I can. Keep my OnePlus 7 Pro for testing and playing with Android 11 when avaliable.
Definitely, and if its good this could indeed be my phone for some time.... Looking forward to (finally) wireless charging on a OP phone...
I think I'm still on the fence. My 7 Pro is working great, enjoying some custom roms.
There isn't such a huge difference with 8 Pro, so I might wait a couple of months and see if I can pick up a used one.
Price is likely to be high $900-1000. Not sure I can justify that over the 7Pro I already have.
Buying green direct from oneplus as I always have since the 5T. Can't wait!
I just ordered it from Telekom Germany (OnePlus Blind Box). No idea about the color yet but according to all information it's going to be the 8 Pro with 12/256GB and a couple of extra stuff. If it's not worth it I can still return it within 14 days thanks to the law here. But I'm crossing fingers there's much more in the box than just some cases...
Will be getting one, probably the Ultramarine Blue.

Agree, that colour looks georgeous....:good:
I whole-heartedly wish the side curves are smaller than the 7 Pro's this time around.
I've been on the Pixel wagon, for the most part, since they came out. I skipped the 4 XL because it didn't offer enough of an upgrade over the 3 XL and I prefer the full screen design. For me to have a phone for a year and a half is like a lifetime. I thought I would make it to the 5 XL, but with word that it may be a mid-grade phone, it kind of tempered my desire. Along comes the 8 Pro with high end specs and a full screen, and suddenly I'm yearning for a new phone again. I'm pretty sure I'll be signing up for one as soon as they become available.

I'll definetily buy the Ultramarine Blue, it looks very appealing, altough I am not a huge fan of colored phones.
I will retire my broken screened Pixel 2 XL now, it served me through a lot of adventures.
I'll be hoping that OnePlus nails the camera performance this time.
What's new?
OK = 5g
OK = wireless charging, for saving the usb type C port wear. They talk about 50 Fast charge. That will be OK.
NO !!! = punch in display front camera !!! Horrible !!! Better leave it without front camera !!!
i was hoping for edge to edge screen, but NOT curved. 120hz display is good but it is not mandatory for me.
I hope the camera can take night pictures... also Macro photos !
If i can get it used, i will buy. Like all my OnePlus phones from OP 3 to OP 7 pro.

I don't mind the hole punch. After living with the 3 XL's notch, that hole is nothing.

Yes, because you came from 3 XL.
Hole punch in the upper middle is way less distracting and obstructive than having it on either side. Makes me wonder why OnePlus made it on the side, they could've understood it from Samsung's offerings!

Who says something about 50 w fast charge? This informations is months old. All the articles I have read recently point to 30 watts only. Or did I miss something?
I went 3xl to S20u and i'm not that happy with the camera quality on the s20u , coming from the p3xl, but every OP device i've owned has had a mediocre camera setup, if it's the exact same setup as the find x2 pro with the same sw processing then i'm gonna get it and sell the s20u HK version
