Hello,
I'm using my Universal in Brazil, and the networks names apper as numbers here:
72431, 72512, 72141 (examples)
I would like to change the display name to the real name of the network ("Oi", "Tim", "Claro" etc.)
Anyone?
Thanks
That's somewhere in the Radio ROM. Not sure if you can extract the lookup file for that or if it is hardwired somewhere. You should make HTC aware of the issue.
Solution No 1 : you can put in your Windows catalog graphic file as logo of you provider (*.gif) named carrierlogo.gif so you can see proper name .
Solution No2 : upgrade radio rom ( I prefer v 1.09)
there is a thread on this in the Himalaya section. Afaik that still works on WM5.
search for 'networknames'
Its about setting some registry keys and you can get any text based on the operator 'numbers'in your screen.
The carrierlogo.gif trick is operator independent. No matter what the network id is, it will always show the same logo.
I'm already running Radio 1.09.00
Rom 1.30.77 WWE.
I tried searching it again, and I can't find any topics about the registry...
can u post a link?
Thanks
This is the final post in the thread i meant. hard to find indeed

hello,
I am with WM6 DarkForce /2.10.02 wwe/ and 1.15.00 Radio and have the next problem:
The name of my mobile operator is Vivatel /Bulgaria/ but phone OS recognize it only by op number - 28403. i found a registry key :
local machine\system\state\phone\current op name: 28403
and change it to: Vivatel. It works fine till phone off. after that again op number 28403. please help me to change this stupid number with real op name. 10x in advance
PS. with previuos versions of ROM /PDAVIET and offic WWE ROM the situation was the same/
any ideas ???
Vivatel
I have the same problem, but solution.... not
I'm from BG too
I like use WWE Rom with Chinese language support on my O2 XDA Neo. The only problem for this kind of combination which makes me headache is:
the Alphabetical Index in Contacts help very little to fast locate a specific contact while the most contacts are stored in chinese characters.
Dumping Rom by modifying outres.dll or outres.dll.0409.mui ( 9$#ab$#ab$cde$cde$fgh$fgh$ijk$ijk$lmn$lmn$opq$opq$rst$rst$uvw$uvw$xyz$xyz$x replaced with 9$#A$#a$abc$吖八嚓$def$咑妸发$ghj$侅铪丌$klm$咔垃嘸$nop$拏噢妑$qrs$七呥仨$tw$他屲$xyz$夕丫帀 somewhere) should solve the problem, but it makes little sense for people like me who not skilled with rom dumping.
Is there any app which replaces the original Contacts with easily modifiable Alphabetical Index? or simple fix?
Thanks for valuable replies & advices!
Can't you save each contact with a "File As" that you can use an english name or your own reference? Also are you using the filter->category feature to help?
i'm trying to do the same but with Greek. check this topic, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=262269, there are some ppl that managed to do it for russian there, if i get anywhere i'll post it on that topic.
I was fascinated by Google Android platform and about one year ago I bought my first Android phone (HTC Magic). Well the platform was not that much mature at that time and my phone was lacking many features. With time it matured and evolved. After waiting a long time and spending a lot of hours to search a application which could send business cards and receive them as well, I couldn't find one which could fulfill my needs. So I decided to create one for me.
Here I present my first android application - Share Contacts

Android 2.1
Features:
Send contacts by SMS
Pick up contact information from saved contracts
Send Customized information

This AWESOME! Its seems to be working flawlessly on my Nexus One on CM7 nightly rom. Will update more observations soon. God bless you for this.
Aside : I wish others with programming skills would make such amazingly meaningful apps instead of eye candy themes. I hope I learn android programming soon.
Can I see your permissions from your manifest file? LOL
why you need that ?.... anyway... here is list of permission:
android.permission.GET_ACCOUNTS
android.permission.READ_CONTACTS
android.permission.WRITE_CONTACTS
android.permission.READ_SMS
Contact saved from received vcard goes into 'phone only, unsynced' group. This cannot be synced with Gmail.
Can you please provide options to choose where/which account to save the contact in?
This would make it perfect!!

i am the only with installation problem?
from the device : there was error parsing the package
from adb install..
/adb install aha_signed.apk
1397 KB/s (109332 bytes in 0.076s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/aha_signed.apk
Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_UNEXPECTED_EXCEPTION]
tried to resing the apk, dosent help at all..
google about that and found that may be:
android:versionName="1.1"
can lead to problems (something about digit, which is not understood as digit etc...)
How can i modify AndroidManifest.xml ? ( i have found java -jar AXMLPrinter2.jar , which can "decode" it, but did not found how to "encode" it )
p.s. trying of android 2.1 (aka eclair) "stock" version

I think you have installed earlier version and now you are trying to install it without un-installing it.
try this:
adb install -r aha_signed.apk
if it doesn't work then un-install it manually and then try...
Good luck
sorry, that didn't mention that
it is first install
have tried the reinstall option too

Hey, another request.
Am using this on Nexus One with a CM7 Nightly Tom.
Currently you need to scroll to select the contact you wish to send.
I use the search key, it pops up, but it does not register any entries and therefore cannot find the specific contact.
Can you please include a search option?
Thanks.

There is very easy work around for this.
Open Contacts App -> search contract -> menu -> share -> select "Share Contact" app -> You get the contact in "Share contacts" Application
Please let me know if it works for you
