The point of this thread is to have a general place for Sprint folks to help each other out.
I started it because I saw a lot of the same information getting repeated in the S5 thread.
I'll be keeping a list of a few tips and tricks to help get your Sprint S5/Note 3 working as best as it possibly can, and hopefully explain it in a straightforward matter.
If anyone has other suggestions of what should go here, please let me know.
Common problems:
1. LTE isn't working
Possible solutions:
1. Your network provisioning got weird somehow. Flash stock, update your PRL, update your Profile, and then flash Lineage again
2. Your sim card is very old, and we no longer have hacks to support it. Get a new one off eBay, and follow steps in solution 1 for provisioning. See list of working SIM cards below
2. Other network service isn't working
Possible solutions:
1. Your network provisioning got weird somehow. Flash stock, update your PRL, update your Profile, and then flash Lineage again
3. Phone is bouncing between network types
Possible solutions:
1. Try making a standard voice call, to force it to CDMA or EvDO, to help stabilize the connection
4. Voicemail notifications don't show
Disclaimer: Known bug, will not be fixed. This is because sometimes voicemail read signals don't get cleared properly in Sprint's system, so they show forever.
Possible workarounds:
1. Manually call voicemail whenever you get a missed call
2. Use Google Voice and forward calls and texts to a dummy number on your phone instead, or use Sprint's Google Voice integration
General Tips:
1. Don't mess with preferred network settings, I set them specifically to work properly on Sprint

I have a G900P with Virgin Mobile. I wanted to provide some info on the bouncing between GSM-CDMA issue. Today I wiped three times and flashed three builds (LineageOS 10/25, 11/1, and crDroid 10/26 based on LOS 10/25). In all three times, after wiping and flashing roms, I would see the phone bouncing CDMA-GSM when switching between preferred network types. Then I would dirty flash the same ROM (only the rom, nothing else), it seemed like this issue goes away and the phone is VERY stable. I will wipe again to see if I can keep replicating this phenomenon. You guys can try to dirty flash to see if it also fixes the LTE connection issue (nothing to lose). I saw it a few times but I couldn't see a pattern, and now that I have been switching preferred network types several times over the last few hours, I have not seen it anymore. I will keep testing.
The G900P radio issue has been going on forever. its almost as bad as the timezone bug we have had forever.
install rand g900p cyanogenmond/lineage rom.... go through install..... deal with phone trying to escape into wrong carrier or frequency... pray it remains stable for work.... post logcat hoping for fix..... repeat for several years with no avail......

I'll add the suggestion to not mess with preferred network types, I set the default to what is ideal for Sprint. Did you dirty flash the ROMs over themselves? or over an older version?

I aim to improve that, at least a little bit. The stability has improved, from the feedback I've been getting. The timezone bug was fixed a long time ago as well, in May iirc (and it wasn't just Sprint, T-Mobile US and AT&T had it too)
The network for sprint devices using; lineage-14.1-20171108-nightly-kltedv-signed is definitely better so far.
Sounds like you guys on sprint have some issues still ... I am running my g900p on att .... Works great i dont think i get full 4glte but i still average2-3 megs a second so its definitely not bad ... Fair trade off i guess.

I would imagine the LTE bands AT&T uses don't line up with Sprint's. I have similar issues on my G900F on T-Mobile, I frequently see H+/3G/E when I should have LTE.
As for Sprint issues, yeah, but it's a lot more manageable now. Most of the weird bugs/quirks are now just fixed by getting provisioning on stock, or a new sim card.
I always heard about what a PITA sprint was, and imagine it worked like crap then, but it's not too bad now. I still prefer T-Mobile, for various minor reasons,
but my hltespr on Tello (Sprint MVNO) makes a perfectly usable backup phone if anything goes wrong with my T-Mobile sim, and it wouldn't
really bother me to use it. That's pretty much my main goal: Make Sprint as usable as possible, so the user doesn't need to notice they're on Sprint.

Totally appreciate the efforts and this thread.
For me, you called it, by the way. Old-ass SIM card.

Just to update, everything worked out well!
Upon replacing the old SIM with a new one, I still couldn't get past 3G. I flashed to stock CQD1 in Odin, updated the PRL and profile, ##72786# to reset, and still nothing.
After a few Google searches, a few forums suggested to call into Virgin Mobile to update the SIM's ICCID number, because this is the reason I couldn't get LTE; the ICCID didn't match the SIM card they had on file. Once done and after a final reboot back into stock, LTE success!
Flashed TWRP in Odin and restored a recent lineageOS backup, and LTE success!
Again, this board was very helpful, thanks!
Just ordered a new SIM card from Sprint. The old one showed as incompatible according to OP. I could only get 3G if I changed to CDMA/EVDO.. Hopefully the new one will allow me to run LOS 14.1 with access to LTE on TING. Thanks for the info.
@javelinanddart Hi, would you mind taking a look at this radio log from 15.1? I can't get LTE working under any circumstances. I have the latest baseband for G900P and a good SIM card, and everything was working in 14.1. Log shows switching from "CDMA/EvDo" to "CDMA/EvDo + LTE" then setting the APN to FreedomPop LTE.

Well, If you come back to this, let me know if you need more logs. I'm going back to 14.1 for now, as the signal is really bad (Keeps switching between 1X and 3G).
Edit: 14.1 is now borked as well... Some relatively recent change must have killed it.
And here's a log from when 3G/EvDo craps out...
Sorry for the multi-post, but I just found my problem: The default APN settings for FreedomPop, the MVNO I use, are somehow wrong. So I deleted that APN and redid it with the following settings and was able to get LTE.

Sorry for the delay, I've been busy working on another device. I had the same issue (even though it worked fine before) on my hltespr. After a wipe, my LTE started working again too, which was really weird. I don't really want to investigate this, since it's working now.

I've had a new smart phone (HTC magic from rogers) on Fido for a week now and it's been working great. I got a data plan and i've been using the data for a week, no problem.
Today I go to turn my data on, and no matter how many times i turn the phone on and off, or turn the 3G toggle on and off, it won't connect. The little 3G symbol at the top of the phone won't appear and I can't get a connection.
I updated to the cyanogen 2.1 rom (the newest fully stable one) and I haven't had any problems, and it's still working great other than the 3G.
Any idea how to fix this? I'm using the APNdroid widget to toggle 3G on and off.

It's what rogers does to people who dont update to their 911 update. They block unotherized devices. Call them and ask them to enable you data and ask them to remove you from the block list. Sometimes it takes a while for the system to find you and thats why you had your data for a week.
im having the exact same issue. did you ever figure it out. i just got the phone and everything was great then after a few days the 3g etc stopped working. i was messing with the apn settings and at the same time talking to fido. they reset it or something on there end and it started working. now a few days later and the same things happened again. its been off for a few days now. my radio version is 6.35.08.29 is that a problem with the 911 thing?
can anyone help. seems after fido reset it for me im ok again but after a few days i assume its gonna happen again. can anyone with rogers htc magics on fido chime in and let me know if they have any issues and what rom etc there using. thx
i havent expierenced this, ill think abt wut to do
its because i didnt have the 911 update. ****s up rogers and fido. updated and no more issues however i cannot root the phone anymore and am stuck on 1.5 now. **** you rogers
I think keeping your rooted ROM and signing the Waiver here www.rogers.com/htcwaiver would have worked just as well...
yea oviously however if you read the post above we are using fido and they have no such thing
Hi blazinlow,
Were you able to get your data back? I'm also Fido customer using a rooted HTC Magic and suddenly today lost internet connectivity (no 3G or EDGE) after a week. I called Rogers and the CSR doesn't seem to know what I'm talking about as he can't even find my number. He did, however know about the 911 bug and the mandatory update but insisted that I call Fido as they have control over the network?!! I wonder if I would have to get the issue escalated to their Tier 2.
well you can try with fido i had no luck. i updated my phone and now have no issues aside from no custom rom and being stuck on 1.5 meaning no navigation
I have FIDO as well and i have had my data connection dropped 3 times now. Im using a magic with 2.1. Every time that it happens I have to call in and get them to reset the connection on their end :/. Anyways they can't give me a straight answer on that either, its frusterating. What exactly is THE 911 update ? a radio update ? or firmware based.
Same issue - update?
Has anyone come up with a solution here. I've come across the same issue.
The phone worked fine on Rogers with no problem getting shut down, it is just now when I use a fido sim that we are getting the data shut down happening.
Unfortunately the 911 form provided above doesn't like my IEMI ("please enter a valid serial number") so I am left being not sure where to go next. A brief discussion with Fido tech support gave me the impression they don't have a clue how do anything other than a profile reset, which makes the problem go away for a few days.
A fall back to Android 1.5 is obviously not an option.
As I understand there may be a way to flash the base band and have an affect? Right now I am on base band 62.525.20.18H_3.22.20.17.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

So after a long conversation wit Fido I have confirmed that they have no way (or perhaps interest) in utilizing the 911 waiver from Rogers and put invoking a 'stop reset' function.
They eventually fall back to the party line of, not our phone can't help you.
Again, anyone know if anything other than a fall back to ancient unusable versions of Android as a fix here?
Any help much appreciated.
Hello guys. I have a long story for you, but I am just gonna keep it very short.
I've had trouble with 4G LTE on TWO Galaxy Note 3's.
I got my first one about 4 months ago, then I got a new device about 1 month exactly because of 4G not working.
However, it is still not working.
My first phone was 100% stock, never rooted and never played with. So was my 2nd phone, and LTE still didn't work. However, it's rooted with CM11 nightly with temasek kernel on it right now, and still no 4G LTE.
I've talked a lot with my carrier (Telenor DK, Denmark) and they sent me a new SIM-card, which did not work help with the missing LTE either. I just called them again today and they double checked everything and told me that I was totally ready to go with 4G LTE.
(The location is not the problem as I've been VARIOUS places with no connection to 4G.)
All the network options are as they should be, etc. However there is still NO 4G LTE.
I then started to read on a lot of posts from this forum, and I may have come to the conclusion that my phone has different frequencies or different LTE bands than my country has? I'm not sure, but I THINK that my carrier (Telenor Denmark) uses 800mhz band.
I don't know if Cat4 is some american only standard or so? I'm not sure, I hope you guys can help.
This is what it says on the box: http://i.imgur.com/JLSrR0b.jpg?1
There is also the european certifcation sticker on the front: http://i.imgur.com/jTxqtzS.jpg?1
You won't be able to see it, but it is a shiny/glittering sticker that says "Approved for Nordic Operators" and as you might have guessed, I live in Denmark.
And at last, some screenshots of the phone: http://imgur.com/a/IHs5N - As you can see, LTE and everything is checked.
I'm not really sure what I can do more. I hope you guys have any idea of what the cause of me not being able to have 4G LTE network.
Many thanks!
Perhaps your issue may be similar to:

You could try tinkering with your APN.

Thanks for your reply.
I should have mentioned, that I already tried to play with exact these settings, without luck.
However, I did it again since it had been a long time, and sadly again no luck.
The APN settings seems to be correct set up by default.
EDIT: I have a feeling it's because my LTE radio doesn't run the right frequency/mhz. Is there anyway that I can check if that's the problem?
And for clarity, I have never seen the 4G logo on my phone. My connection is 3G / H+ 50/50 of the time.

Telenor Denmark uses 1800Mhz for its LTE network so it should be compatible as you are using a Note 3 N9005 as listed on GSMArena Note 3.

Okay thanks! great to have that out of the way.
Now, I'm just asking out of curiousity.
What does the Cat4 on the box in the LTE section mean? Could it be anything with that?
Does that mean Band 4? .. Because it looks like Telenor uses band 3? Now. I have no idea what I am talking about and if this really matters, but please correct me if I am wrong.
EDIT: Also, my phone has a 4G logo on the back of the slim case you get with it. I've heard some people say that it's only the american models that get these?
It looks like this: http://goo.gl/UUJXCK - It says 4G in the middle where it says Galaxy Note 3 on this one.

I believe Cat 4 is just a hardware standard indicating peak datarates.
Try selecting the mms apn rather than the internet one and see if that changes anything.
I had a similar issue with Telus not receiving internet till i switched from the isp.telus apn to sp.telus apn.
Worth a shot i guess.

Thanks a lot for your help. Well I can't select the Telenor DK MMS like I can select the internet one. If you look at the picture there is a blue check mark at the internet one which the mms one doesn't have. If I click on the MMS one it just takes me to the settings. I hope it makes sense. Thanks.

Oh, ummm.
You could try to edit the internet one to be identical to the mms settings. If anything, you can just revert it back to the internet settings if it doesn't help.

I have tried to do that multiple times without any luck at all.
I will try to do it in a few minutes just in case, however it never seems to help. The only thing that happens is that my mobile connection drops for about 20 seconds then comes back as the usual 3G / H+.
EDIT: I played around with the APN settings again, for about 1 hour, still with no luck.
So I'm stuck here as of now. I've tried everything mentioned in this thread and nothing works.
I am not sure what is wrong. I hope any of you might have more possible solutions for my LTE problem on my SM-N9005.

I'm sure that your APN settings are wrong... they are wrong by default sometimes. 2G and 3G is working for you, right? If yes, than it's the problem with settings. Try to copy APN setting from someone who has a phone with working 4G ( and is the same carrier as you ).

I've been thinking the same. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong or something, because I've tried to change the settings so much. I don't have access to a 4G phone on the same carrier, neither does any of my friend use my carrier (atleast I think so) - so I will do some more internet research.
Again, thanks a lot for your help, friend!
EDIT: I've found some totally different Telenor APN settings than I've ever seen before. I'm not sure if they're old or not, but I'll definitely try now and report back.

Then try to call your carrier service, and request that they tell you all of APN settings. Try every one of them. I had exactly the same problem, they were sending me bad APN settings. They were also telling me that everything is good on their side with network, and that my phone is broken. So don't believe them, you probably know more about technology than 90% of workers there

I don't know if your telco does this but Telstra in Australia will send a system message that will save the correct APN settings into your phone. This can be initiated by you through their internet site, no call center staff to stuff things up... You receive the message like a normal sms but when prompted install and save...
Might be worth a shot to either ask to be sent the settings or see if they do the same on their website... You might be lucky...

It seems like they do not offer such service. However I looked at some APN setup guide on their website, and it is 100% identical to what my APN's look like.
Hmm. As stated before, 3G and HSPDA, HSPDA+ works perfectly. But no 4G/LTE. Never.
I'm sorry for double posting, but I've got some news. (I think.)
So, someone told me that I should try to dial *#*#4636#*#* and put up screenshots of it, so I figured out that I should put them here too.
So when I dailed *#*#4636#*#*, I got to this screen: http://i.imgur.com/nvEQqUF.png
I then chose phone information, and I got here: http://i.imgur.com/TTPAHw5.png - Notice that H+ is working fine.
Then I tried to select LTE only, and this happened: http://imgur.com/eNfl4xk - No signal from LTE at all.
I'm not sure if this is anything new, but I thought I'd show it here too.
Thanks.
EDIT: Okay, so I've made some further investigation and some people tell me that I might have the wrong CSC number for my country. However, I have no idea what that means really. Is it possible for me to "flash" the
correct CSC number onto my phone or something like that?
EDIT: I'm going to flash STOCK Nordic 4.4.2 ROM and solve the issue there, I've heard some talking about I should do that first. I will report back if I find my solution. Thanks.
Hello again.
I haven't really been doing anything to search further, but I am still left with no LTE, the flash of the 4.4.2 stock nordic rom did not help.
Just thought I'd give a little update.
Hey guys. I apologize if this has been addressed before. I did try searching, both XDA and the web in general, before posting this. I have a lot of experience with rooting, ROMing, bootloaders, kernels, Odin, etc. Basically anything associated with customizing a phone. Except for swapping between carriers, I've only done that a couple times and it only involved swapping the SIM and changing the APN. So I don't need kid gloves or a lot of explaining with potential solutions, like editing build.prop or flashing something either locally on the phone or through Odin. But anyways... here's my story, along with my thoughts on potential solutions to try (the only reason I haven't tried these solutions yet is because I don't wanna risk messing anything up):
I was given a Galaxy S5 for AT&T (model number G900A) about a week ago. I'm on Verizon and am currently using an S4 (coming from an S3 and Galaxy Nexus. So I've got a good deal of experience with Samsung devices. Although so much has changed between then and now, it's hardly relevant). So obviously the first thing I did was just throw my SIM from my S4 into the S5. Didn't work. SIM was locked (something I've never seen). Oh well, I didn't expect it to be so simple. The S5 was still on KK, so I figured I'd try a custom ROM to see if that affected the SIM lock. It didn't. So I ordered a SIM unlock code (a girl gave it to me who was given it by her ex boyfriend who didn't like the idea of her giving it to a different guy, so he wasn't exactly cooperative with unlocking it. No biggie, $24 was still well worth it). Since then, I've played with it a bit. I'm currently running TMS5 2.0. It's hard to form a complete opinion on a ROM when I don't have data/cell capacity and can only use WiFi. But with the small amount of experience, it's a nice ROM. I got my SIM unlock code this morning thanks to unlockunit.com. The SIM unlock I had purchased was estimated at 1-6 days and I received it in like 23 hours. I'd definitely use them again if anybody is looking for a place. Everything seemed to be going smoothly. Unlock was successful, added the APN settings, but the APN settings wont save. I've rebooted, cleared cache/dalvik, removed/reinstalled SIM, nothing worked. I figured I'd try a new ROM, but wanted to ask for some other opinions too. Also, when I had the thought to try a new ROM, I also thought that maybe a Verizon ROM would work on the Verizon network? But also figured it could not boot too, so I'd ask first.
Anybody have this experience with any solutions? Anybody else have any thoughts/ideas? I'd appreciate any input. Thank you
after hours upon hours of tinkering with it. I've made extremely slight "progress". Since I've been screwing with this all day, a lot of the time I'm doing something else at the same time. I noticed that when I had filled out the APN fields (listed below, so everyone can see what I'm using) and then turned the screen off and then back on, it would save and show on the APN list. But still didn't work. After looking closer, it was because when the screen turned off, the MCC and MNC changed from 310 and 012 into 311 and 480, respectively. I'm not sure why, but the APN editor automatically puts those numbers in every time I open the APN settings, but they obviously don't work. One time, in the grocery store, it actually saved correctly. The antenna bars showed correctly and the 4G icon showed for the first time. Then as soon as I left the APN screen to check the browser, they reverted, I went back into the APN list and it was gone again... this is incredibly frustrating

So I switched from Twisted back to TMS5 2.0 to check the APN settings in it as well. And it has the same issue, MCC is 311 and MNC is 480 by default upon opening the APN editor. TMS5 also has "default, hipri" under APN Type by default.
Just for the hell of it. I decided to try changing those numbers 1 at a time and saving. The APN Type was the only one that allowed me to change it. As I expected. I'm going to give AllianceROM a shot now and hope it works, but I have a hunch that *IF* flashing a different ROM does work, it will be a KK ROM. But I'm giving it shot just because I can quickly flash with FF, rather than having to use Kies and SS. Fingers crossed...
as expected. AllianceROM didn't work. Next step, I'm going to try the stock rooted OC4. I *REALLY* hope this works. The idea of flashing back to KK from LP makes me uneasy. If anybody is reading this, and knows how to flash a G900A back to KK, or knows of a thread that explains it, I'd really appreciate it.
(I apologize to those of you who I'm sure are getting annoyed at what seems to be a solo conversation. I'm only trying to document each different step I've tried just in case there's someone out there going through the same thing that happens to stumble across this thread. In the off chance that it turns out that I can't discover something that *DOES* work, I'd at least like to document what *DOESN'T* work so they can save the time and effort. Considering that I've wasted 15 hours now on this **** already, I'd at least like to save anyone with this same problem that stumbles across this thread some of that time.
Anyways... time to flash OC4...
Dude, just unlock all the bands from the secret menu. Google it. Go to UE Settings/Settings/Protocol/NAS/Network Control/Band Selection and select LTE/WCMA.
To access the hidden menu, use the app Secret Codes.
Warning: The code to enter the menu varies from carrier.
APN isn't needed. The relevant apn info is already on your SIM.

Wow. I wish I knew that. I even called VZW and they told me that it only had a gsm antenna and was impossible to use on VZW. Well I took that, and T-Mobile's sale as a sign. I had kicked around the idea of switching to T-Mobile and selling my VZW unlimited plan ever since T-Mobile came out with unlimited data plans. Especially with no contract. It just seemed like the ideal plan for $80. Then they had the sale for $100 for 2 lines unlimited talk/text/LTE. Which was what my Verizon plan was for one line and only 450 minutes. Turns out my friend and his girlfriend thought the same and just switched to that plan. So they added me as a 3rd line. Unlimited everything for only $40/month is incredible. So before I sold my VZW plan, I ran speedtest just to see what the difference was. Obviously expecting T-Mobile to be at a disadvantage there. Nope. T-Mobile was 35.37MB/s down, 11.65MB/s up. Verizon was 10.12 down and 2.57 up. But I live in Phoenix, so it's a big city with small buildings to get in the way and mountains scattered throughout to put radio towers on. I'm sure the results would be quite different in rural areas. But for my situation, I can't ask for more. Unlimited excellent service for less that half of what I used to pay. Plus I got to cash out decently on my old VZW unlimited plan before they either bring back unlimited data or do away with AOL, which I think one or the other will happen soon.
All-in-all, I couldn't be happier with a free S5 with a better plan on better service for a much better price. And I've rooted the S5 and put TMS5 2.0 on it which runs incredibly. I was very nervous making the jump but am so glad I did.
I just wish I checked this thread before so I could have been able to confirm if that would have worked to put this phone on Verizon, or if it was stuck as GSM only as was the conclusion I came to after trying everything I could possibly think of, and listed in this thread. I'm gonna see if I can find a friend with VZW that'll let me give it a shot with their SIM just to hopefully be able to help anyone else with the same issue
Wow man heads up more people may give your their $.02 if they didn't have to spend 5 minutes reading each post!
The reason your data didn't work is because you didn't update the modem when you updated the system (by using the different lollipop roms)... If you had updated the modem, data would have worked.

Oh well. Live and learn. It's not that I enjoy typing novels, I just wanted to be as detailed as possible with what I was trying. It all worked out though. T-Mobile has better service in my area and I cashed out well from my VZW data plan. So I have no complaints with how it turned out I guess

OK so a few weeks ago I downgraded from Nougat preview 5 back to 6.0.1. When I did this, suddenly I was having issues with only being able to get HSPA instead of LTE. I called AT&T and they pushed information to my phone for what I am assuming was a SIM card config. After that, LTE came back till last night. Again it started acting up so I called and was basically told your on a unlocked phone, go fish. So after that I continued to research and aligned my APN settings to what was in article published by AT&T for setting up the APN on non AT&T devices. LTE came back and since then I have had no issues getting LTE (knock on wood). The two items I changed in the APN was removing the fota from APN type and setting APN protocol to IPv4 only. Previously it was the combined setting for IPv4 and IPv6. I also in the last few days upgraded to the final version of Nougat.
However what really still bugs me is what happened during the downgrade to start all of this..... Prior to this I had this Nexus 6P for 7 months and never had a LTE connection issue. Any thoughts? I am going to be traveling to Canada and Mexico, anyone see any issues with my config for International travel? I posted screenshots of my settings.
Thanks in advance!
downgrades are notorious for messing things up. my advice, under apn options, reset to default, and then delete everything except att nextgenphone, reboot, go to back up and reset settings and do a network settings reset. should sort you out.
oh, and wait to connect to wifi until it actually connects to LTE first

Question on the last part under network settings, if I do that reset does it wipe the configuration on the SIM card. The wording gives me a 50/50 perspective on it doing that.

Can't be 100% sure
From experience, android doesn't mess with the SIM card on its own. Usually the carrier has to push changes. The fact that it worked before and stopped working after downgrade seems to point to the fact that their was never and issue with the SIM. It was an os issue... But do what you're comfortable with, if it ain't broke...
Keep these instructions for if it ever screws up again

I have the Moto G4 Play (XT1607) (Harpia) and I have decided to flash LineageOS (lineage-14.1-20170131-nightly-harpia-signed.zip) on it using TWRP v3.0.2 r5. After getting it installed I noticed that it was not connecting to my 4g LTE Internet (I have Ting). So I figured I needed to make some changes to the APN settings. So I go to Settings>... More> Cellular Networks and the moment I click on "Cellular networks" I get an error message saying "com.android.phone has stopped". After reflashing and trying again a few times with the same result, I tried using a completely different ROM. AOKP. (aokp_harpia_nougat_nightly_2017-01-31.zip) and I ran into the same exact problem I was having with LineageOS.
I then tried to see if I could force my way into the APN configuration using an app called "Change APN". This worked, but now I see the message "Access Point Name settings are not available for this user". I decided to ignore this and click on the + to create a new APN. After filling the correct info out for Ting APN, I click on "Save"... and it doesn't save at all.
I decided to revert to the stock rom, and everything works perfectly fine with the stock rom. 4G LTE on Ting works fine. Whenever I try using a custom ROM of any kind, I run into the problem I described above. I don't know if I am forgetting to do something, or completely doing something wrong. I could use some help with this guys.
Isn't Ting a Sprint service? I didn't think CDMA-based networks had APN settings to configure. Verizon and US Cellular have always used *22XXX for programming, as far as I can remember.

Yes. Ting is a Sprint service. Well either way LTE isn't working and the 3G keeps randomly turning on and off whenever I use a custom ROM. However, when I use Stock firmware, everything works perfectly fine. I am unsure what is causing the issue.
It seems nearly all custom ROMs at this point are having data connectivity issues. I'm trying to find a nandroid of the original xt1607 rom so I can just go back until its all sorted out.

With Ting you can choose to use Sprint or T-Mobile. I am using the T-Mobile side of Ting and you do need to add Ting's APN settings for it to work. I am still on factory ROM but watching closely to see what others are experiencing with custom ROMs.

I haven't noticed any issue with my GSM ting service on lineage. I get LTE and the WiFi/LTE handoff seems to work. I don't install many apps and don't let them run in the background, so perhaps there's a conflict between them that's shutting down LTE service. This is just a guess.
Anyone have any information pertaining to this subject? I've searched hours on hours to no avail. I run U.S. Cellular and on the newest RR-5.8.1-OMS after I go to Settings>More>Cellular Networks>Crash. Every time. Resets my radio and picks right back up again. Everything works until I'm in my house, then I'm roaming and there's no way to manage in settings because of the crash.
I looked around in the file system and in /data/data/com.android.phone/ there is no files, no .db files or anything. I don't know of there's supposed to be either. But like OP stated, stock rom is flawless.
Would I be and to copy com.android.phone from stock and restore after flashing? I don't know what to do but this is with every single custom ROM out right now on every release. Data and everything works fine as far as I can tell but just no way to configure the settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Just out of curiosity, have you tried the *22XXX thing yet?
EDIT: Just so we're clear, with you all who have CDMA phones, when you go into "IMEI Information," it does show both an IMEI and an ICCID, right? Because if not, I think I figured out why your LTE isn't working.
I tried, I tried dialing *22999 (guessing that the x stood for the 9 button in T9 language) and pressed the make a call button. Am I wrong about the "XXX" part? Because I did try that when I seen it previously in the thread earlier but had the same thoughts.
So to make that novel a shorter version, what exactly should I dial?

It depends on the carrier and the model of the phone. For most Tracfones, it's *22890. For US Cellular, I've seen it as *228 and *22894. You may have to call your carrier and ask what their phone programming code is.
Aaah ok I got you now. Yes I've tried that on nearly every ROM. Matter of fact I just noticed I posted a little off topic almost, but I'm here for the relevance of com.android.phone crashing EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to open Cellular Networks. The only ROM I will say it doesn't force close on is the Slim Nougat ROM, but I don't run that because instead of Cellular Networks settings making com.android.phone crash its when you place a call and then it force closes the UI part of the call but still carries the call through. I forgot to mention that by the way, whatever it is in Slim that is the making the different reason for force closing com.android.phone could probably be a pretty easy red flag for someone better equipped for this Lind of troubleshooting than myself!
Thank you for the suggestion though on the *22(8 in my case)

After I posted that, I went back to try and see if Lineage was able to pick up my phone's MEID (even though I use a GSM SIM, the MEID is still tied to the phone hardware). For some reason, Lineage is not reading it, and I think all of your problems are being attributed to that fact.
The way CDMA phones work (and god, do I hate this), is your 2G/3G network is tied to the phone MEID, while the LTE SIM is data only. The OS needs to read both the 14-digit MEID (sometimes shows as a 15 digit IMEI where last digit is 0) as well as the 20 digit ICCID (SIM Number). A phone may also use the SIM number itself as an IMEI (BYOP SIMs do this) by dropping the first five digits of the 20 digit SIM number.
If you phone is showing only one 15 digit number in the system settings, then it's either the MEID OR the SIM, not both. So either you have calling and no LTE, or LTE and no calling. You can't program APN settings because the phone has no idea what ID number to tie APN settings to. This is actually a rather serious conundrum.
Ok ok, makes sense. I checked my Status info, every ROM has dual SIM capability by the way so I don't know if that would effect anything for xt-1607, but I looked at SIM slot 1 info and it reads my MEID correctly with 14 digits. I couldn't find anything about ICCID. My head pounding question here though, why in the hell (pardon the language) is everything flawless on stock, but on every ROM this problem occurs? Here's my next killer, everything works like it should for me, LTE, 3G, Calls, SMS/MMS, just can't change any of the settings due to a force close, AND I put my friends Straight Talk SIM in and it fired right up with no force close when going to change Network settings...?!

I think you just answered your own question. As stated in PCMag back in 2015, "Nobody makes a Dual-Sim phone compatible with Sprint or Verizon." It legitimately believes your MEID is a GSM-based IMEI, and is attempting to cross the streams, so to speak. And the only way your friend's StraightTalk SIM would work is if it was piggybacking off ATT or TMo's networks (the MEID would have been paired to the other phone causing a mismatch).
If you look at the stock ROM for this phone, you will see a BUNCH of system apps for programming Sprint and Verizon network information. They never made it into the custom ROMs we're using. FWIW, here's my thoughts on the matter. Someone needs to go back and make a single-SIM variant of these ROMs, as well as a flashable ZIP containing the necessary APKs for Android to detect the necessary information correctly. And if that doesn't happen, then everyone who bought an XT-1607 has to ditch their carrier and move to a GSM carrier.
That makes complete and total sense! Because I wasn't thinking this while time of it but I was in Oklahoma at the time where the main towers are AT&T, matter of fact Sprint and U.S. Cellular lose almost all signal right when you hit the county line where I was at. Verizon only gets signal because it's Verizon, lol. Reason I say that is because I was wondering why this whole time I has full signal with LTE coverage and completely list everything when I went hone, because where I live is complete opposite, there is hardly any GSM coverage, we don't even have an AT&T store, just Verizon, Sprint, USC.
So, with that being figured out, my laptop just recently kicked the bucket on me so I'm out for the most part, I do have a trick to swap files in and out of a compressed archive without extracting it in any way! But, it takes a while, not too much longer I guess but nowvi just remembered everything is pretty much .dat files so nevermind that.
Not that this thread isn't the most popular, but where would be the best place to take this request too to get the most attention from it? I mean if I had to go back to stock, so be it, but I'm a little spoiled to the custom life. Lol.

IIRC, there is a Verizon thread with 80ish replies, but I think a developer like Squid might need to be made aware of this, so I might copy this into the Lineage thread.
A bit of good news. While reflashing all the time that were force closing when opening cellular networks, I looked in /data/data/com.android.phone/ and was looking, now remember to go back to that directory after I say all this, I found that directory was empty, on all of the Roms. Was curious so I flashed back to stock. Went to the same directory, BOOM! com.android.phone was not empty, in that folder I found 2 folders that were now populated with in:
1: (/files/ )I now had a file named carrierconfig-com.android.carrierconfig- (and after the dash was my ICCID number) so for this directory I need /data/data/com.android.phone/files/carrierconfig-com.android.carrierconfig**ICCID** (replace **ICCID** my ICCID number)
2: then there was this /data/data/com.android.phone/shared_prefs/_has_set_default_values.xml
and
phone/shared_prefs/com.android.phone_preferences.xml
These files are missing on all the Roms, I know this doesn't since everything, but I know for almost a fact it's a good chunk of something that needs to be available. Can I copy these files and move them into place, and set permissions how they were? I ran out of time tonight, and am busy all week so this is mainly for reference I guess. More research told me these files can be edited to change what is available to configure in cellular network settings like option to change from 2G, 3G, LTE, APN, and so on. Sorry for the mess, that's all I have for right now.

That is definitely a major find! My only concern is even if you do that, there might be further missing components that would cause Dialer to crash on startup or some other wacky side effect. However, if you can make it work, then it's possible the proper APN settings will load by default and you'll no longer need to change them.
If you can, go into the System Apps on the stock ROM and look for any APKs branded by/with Sprint, VZW or USCellular, or anything CDMA related. They might be necessary for reading the SIM's ICCID.
That's what I was thinking too, and sadly for me I don't really know EVERYTHING to look for so it'll be mostly out of trial and error for me to figure it out. I wish they didn't compress Roms into .dat so I could use a root explorer to swap between tabs rather than copy, flash the rom, paste files and then if that didn't work start all over on restoring stock, so on and so forth. I miss my laptop. =(
Updates?
Has anyone looked into this further? I'm experiencing the same problem with the latest LineageOS nightly. US Cellular Prepaid with an XT1607.
I noticed that in my case i had to skip the Insert Sim thing on 1st boot. It never did whatever it wanted to there. (Maybe because I have no signal or weak roaming where I live?)
I'm seriously considering trying it from an area that I have good service in..
