Question about root? File transfer? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

I have kind of a stupid question which im pretty sure i know the answer to, just making sure, or hoping for some insight. I broke the screen of my rooted v20. After replacing the screen i found out the MB is bad because after two new screens i still get no backlight from either of them. so bit the bullet and paid for the insurance which sent me a new phone with zv8. My question is, is there anyway to make use of the old MB to transfer everything onto the new phone? to bypass not being able to root it? Like clone the old one onto the new? It still works its just every screen i put on it i can barely see. I know it sounds stupid but im high and desperate. Any info is appreciated!

NOOB and i need pointed in the right direction.

hello im thinking of getting an hd2 today but im not sure what all needs to be done before i can flash windows 7 i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. i have look on xda but im not 100% sure where to start. what all you have to do with the hd2 because i have changed roms a bunch on my nexus one. yet it seems like the hd2 is a lot different then how i do it on my nexus. so if there is a good guide that kinda shows what all you need and how to do it that would be awesome. thank you for your time.
The best tutorial for the flashing process imho can be found in the HD2 Android section - the steps are actually the same, except you will flash a WP7 NAND ROM instead of Android. Check it here.
To start, as you can read in above linked tutorial, you will have to install HSPL 2.08, which can be a little tricky in case your HD2 comes with SPL 3.03. For this case, you´ll find another tutorial, it´s not that hard.
Otherwise, no big issue, I guess.
I strongly recommend to flash a custom ROM, those include the "Chevron" jailbreak from scratch, biggest advantage is that there won´t be any re-locking issues. The original "Leo70 ROM" does not include the jailbreak.
However, if you want to use Live services, you will still need an activation code from MS. WP7 runs fine without those, but you´ll lack quite a few interesting options, I think.
Happy flashing!
This is a pretty good video guide........
thank you both for your quick responses. i will look at all the tuts you posted. i know i seen for one windows 7 thing that you needed hspl 3 so i wasnt sure on that.
this is a little of topic but is 225 for what there saying is a brand new only opened for photos, good for a hd2.
Sounds reasonable but I would be suspicious of the "only opened for photos" part..
If I was selling a brand new phone, Id much rather describe it as "Unopened" than "only opened for photos......
My hd2 is over a year old and very nearly in mint condition despite never being in a case so I'd imagine if someone had used one for 6 months in a case then it would be possible to pass it off as "brand new"........
Then again I'm a very suspicious guy......

lol yea thats what i was kinda thinking. i know from talking to him he doesnt seem to know much about hd2's in general. now if it was brand new it would come with the 8gb sd card or did tmobile stop including that? when i go to look at it today im going to make sure the touch screen works well and that there is nothing wrong with the device and make sure it has everything it is suppose to come with out of the box.
If your getting to see it and test it then thats good.
The things I'd check are the earpiece, the usb port and the little slot for your fingernail to open the back cover, if its had use these will give the game away.
That said, if it works ok then it shouldnt really matter how much use its had.
You could always try and get some money off if he's tryed to dupe you though

I think they were 2gb cards that went out with the phone. Might have been 8gb with tmous though, not sure......

[Q] Stuck between root and non root...

I recieved my Motorola Atrix about 5 days ago with hope that this would be my new baby. I love the phone but im having major problem. I got told the phone was NIB so i take it to att they do all there mumbo jumbo reset it to access my motoblur(first hint it wasnt NIB) so i do all that then i look at the phone for the first time and the font IS TINY like i can barely see tiny, so i see the superuser app and immediately know but since it got reset its stuck between root and nonroot. I have some stupid van helsing font that doesnt have characters for half the ones there supposed to so its confusing to know what im looking at. I need to know the best way to fix this ASAP or im switching back to IP4 or an HTC phone. I had hoped that moto would blow my mind but so far im not impressed especially with customer support. So if anyone could offer a solution i would greatly appreciate it.
Settings > SD & Phone storage > unmount internal phone storage > format internal phone storage.
After that flash the 1.8.3 sbf w/RSDlite (there are lots of guides here) and you should be on the latest firmware and bone stock.

Ok, the helpful bits are up top, this is my personal opinion on the matter:
So you bought a grey market phone that someone screwed up and you want to blame motorola for poor customer support? I can definitely understand why they lock the bootloader and try to prevent rooting...people like the seller and yourself.
Go back to the IP4.

(Q)I need help buying used n7?? Any tips what to look for?

I found a nexus 7 for a decent price on craigslist in my area. Seems like an innocent college girl. But... you never know. Is there anything to look for that would make it a deal breaker( other than the obvious broken screen and stuff). Any bootloaders i wanna steer clear of or software. Kinda doing this randomly and basic search on this forum didn't really bring back anything. Not sure if there could be anything not seen by the eye or during a quick test that I might need to know about. Any help would be appreciated. Tia

For hardware issues, I would look for screen lift and washed out colors. Those are the two biggest complaints.
As for software, you can easily return the device to stock even if it has been messed with. Just make sure it's not locked out (if it's reported stolen to Google). Also make sure it's not an obvious brick, otherwise it's still fixable but just more of a headache.
When you boot it up, check to see if the unlocked bootloader icon is there. If it is, then they messed with it. Otherwise with your post count, I'm sure you know what you're doing.
If anything, ask to play with the device there and make sure it's already been factory reset. Last thing you need is to take it home and it requires a pin/password to unlock.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Demo Unit

Hey there you guys!
(Optional reading)
I am all new in this forum, and I have a few questions about a Demo unit I have gotten my hands on.
Before anyone, asks me how I can have a Demo unit, and if it's stolen, then allow me to explain. Even though you only have my word for it, I hope it is enough.
I work at a electronic store, here in Denmark. (Elgiganten)
Anyway, we had a Samsung Galaxy S4 Demo Unit, in the store.
I was told by my boss to throw in the trash,I asked if I could take it home, which he allowed me.
(Actual post)
Anyway!
What this post is about, Is that I have a few questions about it.
I have been googling and checked out this forum, about the Demo units.
The can't ever be "real" phones ever. They simple miss the modem and antenna hardware.
I don't think that I quite understand, whether it is possible to flash the phone with original/modified firmware.
As far as I have understood, a lot of demo units have been F***ed up, and ended up with no Wifi options and stuff.
I was wondering, if there is a known way to flash it?
And what's I am suppose to do exactly?
I was wondering if I bought a replacement motherboard and threw in it, would work?
Like one I can buy on Ebay?
I'm sorry for the long post, and the loads of question.
I hope that you guys can help get it up and running properly, whether it is without the calling compatibilitys or not
So thank you very much!

So it's not really a phone, it's a 5 inch tablet?

I'd be hard pressed to believe that Samsung went to a lot of trouble to write an entirely different rom for it. So I'd guess that it's got the same rom as the normal 9505
But I can see where trying to flash a rom it it could go badly. So using odin to root it might be risky. It also might work flawlessly with ease. There is only one way to find out...and sometimes in life you've got to roll the dice.
I would also think you could easily toss a different motherboard in it. You could probably add the radio antenna too. I'd also be hard pressed to believe that Samsung made an entirely different plastic housing just for the demo. So it's probably got all the space and screw holes and all tha tstuff to hold the radio antennea.
So you can either use it as a wifi table as it sits now, with touchwiz, or take a chance and see if you can root it. You didn't pay anything for it so there's not too much risk. That said, how much custominzation do you need for what's probably going to end up being a tablet for the bathroom? It'll probably play games fine, browse the web fine, etc. Do you really need to flash a custom rom to it for those purposes?
I might just leave it alone and enjoy the free wifi device. Makes a great MP3 player / Pandora streamer / etc too.

Thanks for the answer!
I would be delighted with it, using it as a tablet in my home.
The thing, is the Galaxy resets everything every 15 minutes, or reboot.
Which is obvously damn annoying.
And that is why, I am asking these questions

Well that's stupid. Maybe it is a different rom afterall....
If its not usable now then you really have nothing to lose by flashing a rom in odin.
Sent from your phone. You should be more careful where you leave that thing.
