More information please

Saranhai is right. It sounds like a kernel issue. If you give us more info we can recommend kernels that you can flash.
sorry guys

Ok. MIUI is an alteration of AOSP. So, an AOSP compatible kernel is what you would want. However, LanternsLight puts out good MIUI ROMs. Unless its a known issue, I doubt its the ROM. Did you format your system partition before flashing?
Edit: Just spent a few minutes reading through the thread. No one else has reported this as far as I can tell. If you didn't format /system before you flashed, reflash using the instructions in the OP of the thread in the dev section. If you did, wipe cache and dalvik cache and reflash. If neither of those works, try TDJ's AOSP kernel, but there is nothing wrong with the Tiamat kernel, so I doubt that's it.
OK update i dont have any idea why this isnt working but i cleared the sd card, ran the rom install again followed the directions completely and my hotspot and wifi will bootloop my phone im at a loss of swear words already. should i take a hammer to it or not
Did you try a fresh download?
yes as stated i completely cleaned the sd card and redownloaded multiple roms and none will allow me to use wifi or hotspot the hotspot will error and the wifi will bootloop every single time
What Roms did you try?
what you can find in the recent rom section i tried i think it has to do with the phone or something im lost im frustrated im gonna flip out and smash this phone soon
Well, if you'be tried multiple ROMs with different kernels and did FULL wipes between them all, its probably hardware. I can't think of anything else it would be.
well all i did was change sd cards and thats it no more wifi and hotspot.....should i partition the sdcard i do remember seeing that in recovery does that affect the wifi n hotspot? if so what should it be partitioned at
Eeerm, partitioning the sd card is for moving apps over to external storage the pre-froyo way. It has nothing to do with hotspot functions. So your hotspot worked before, but crapped out when you changed as cards? That's really weird...
Does anyone else have any insight into this, because I'm at a loss?
Anyone out there?????? ANYONE
Try flashing the stock 2.2.1 or 2.3.4 rooted. Try if that works. If not, I too am at a loss. Maybe Jack_R1 is around lol

have you tried flashing the froyo pd15img to unroot and see if the problem persists? if not then i would do so and then report back... if the problem is still there then it seems to be a hw problem... if it is gone then it will be easy to reroot and be back in the game! just a little fyi though, if you want help then next time i would recommend providing us all the information! bootloader version, root method, rom, kernel, etc, etc, etc... you will more than likely get a more informed response and it shows that you actually put forth a bit of effort in helping us help you, rather than being the guy in my signature video! and as for your comment of this is the last day you are going to try to fix the phone, well it is your money that was spent on it, so by all means nuke the damn thing! but dont get angry cause we cant fix your device, we did nothing to it or you... take it to the store and let them mess with it or pay the deductible and get a new one... good luck on any note!
Just curious, when I first got got the phone and rooted twice, I became unable to perform profile/prl update along with software update checking as well. I also couldn't do a ##786 or ##72786. I really want to root again with MF9 to do the hotspot mod. Anyone els ecome across this issue and can offer any advice I would really appreciate it.

I use aosp 95% of the time I've had my GS4 and I never update prl/pro and I have lte when other people who are completely stock tw don't and have to update to get it. Not sure what your issue was, all tw have the option to update pro/prl maybe something was up with Sprint..? I've had no issues using Aosp and we have some killer roms (official) for this device! Maybe someone else will have a solution to this.. I used Chainfires auto root twice and always was able to update em.

The error I get which I forgot to mention is "session in progress, please try again later". it only does this while rooted. I can immediately unroot and flash back to stock and everything works perfectly.
I've seen that a few times but I immediately hit update again and everything works fine.
Oh and I'm always rooted.

I took the chance and this time everything worked perfectly! I only wanted to root for the hotspot mod so I'm glad all went well.

A couple days ago I noticed that my S4 wouldn't turn on WiFi. I would "flip the switch" in the WiFi settings and it would stay in the on position but grayed out, then after about ten seconds it would switch back to off. At the time my phone was rooted but wasn't not on a custom rom, but had simple things done, like xposed installed and some modules. I think the problem is that I tried using the WiFi tether TreVe mod and it didn't work while I was traveling. When I got to a place with WiFi it didn't work and that was when I noticed the problem. Since then I have tried everything from updating the baseband, flashing Cyanogen mod, to even unrooting and re-rooting the phone but all with no success to getting my WiFi to work. This is my first post to any forum so much help would be appreciated! Thanks!

It's been about a week and I still haven't fixed the wifi issue. I am going to a Best Buy Samsung experience store tomorrow to see if they can flash the latest firmware for my phone or better yet just fix it in general or give me answers. If anybody has answers please help.

You can get the latest from this forum or sammobile.com (Sammobile is a little slow downloading) and flash it using Odin. There are several tutorials as well. Just search this forum and/or Google and you should easily find it.

Flashing firmware did it for me. Thanks!
Hello Friends
I have been searching the internet for days on how to root the Note 5 N9208 dual sim and finally found something that seem stable.
DISCLAIMER: I am by no means taking credit for this root method, I am just sharing what I found because I know how hard the information can be to find on the internet. As you should already know, with flashing there is always a risk so you are always responsible for you own device
1. First you are going to want to enable OEM Unlock and USB debugging in the developer option.
2. Go to Samsung app store and get the CROM service app. (this is needed so you can flash custom roms, on some phones you won't be able to flash anything if you don't do this step)
3. Download Permissive kernel (from xiaolu) for N9208 with auto root: N9208-TW-Root (0909) .tar flash it with Odin3.10.7 (extract tar-file from zip, put it in section and flash AP)
At this point you should now have root, beyond this step will explain how to get TWRP recovery.
4. Official TWRP for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 DUOS you can found here ... (download tar-file, put it in AP section and flash with Odin3.10.7).
This information was accumulated by searching the web. My thanks goes out to all developers who help me to arrive at a root solution. If you, a developer come here and see a violation that I overlooked please inbox me and I will rectify it right away Thanks again
Thanks for the guide. Do you have more information on the kernel?

Sad to say, I didn't find much information on the web about the performance of this kernel. It just showed up as a way to gain root.
Not being about to accumulate any data on the kernel I kinda was back and forth in my mind if I should use it or not. after hours of thinking and really wanted root I decided to give it a go in a all or re-flash moment(nothing).
Turn out to be pretty good with no change in performance vs the stock kernel. Once flashed I saw superSU there installed and ready to go.
Now I was concern about the random reboots I heard about with other kernels but I have been using the phone for 3 days now and I haven't encountered any lags, no reboots, no drop of signals or calls. I have not yet installed any games on my phone so I don't know how it will be with heavy usage of that nature.
If you decide to give this a try please post any findings of abnormalities here. Thank you

I thought xposed for our phone was only possible with Deodexed roms? if this is possible for our Odexed stock rom can you kindly point me into the direction to get this done?

No problems at all. No reboots or lags.
Nice guide for obtaining root!
I already have rooted my Note 5 using the SpaceX kernel, but as some of you know this kernel has the random reboot issue.
What would be the procedure for me to flash this kernel. Can I just flash over the current SpaceX kernel or would I have to go another route?
Appreciate the help.

Cheers for the quick help! So just Odin flash this kernel directly over my current setup...will get right to it
Flashed the kernel and rebooted...all seems well. Now further testing and hopefully no weird issues like random reboots and/or deep sleep bug.
and We still don't know where it came from ??
but it Works
I seen it on a russian site thats all I know
but it works !!
Indeed...it's all rather strange No dev, no nothing...but it does work :good:
I got 4% battery usage in some 10 hours standby and that's pretty decent in my book.
Performance seems on par with stock kernel. Now for another couple of days of further testing to see if it holds up...(no random reboots and such).
I was at about 6%at 7hrs.....but I have one drive syncing. ..but before I had 15-20%....
and no reboots and I am rooted!!!!

lol yup, there is no data at all on this kernel as far as I can search. one thing I can say for sure is that its doing very well in terms of performance. I play games, listen to music, make calls on both sims, send emails and have dual whatsapp going all day. with all that activity I manage to get 13 hours out of the phone, I plug in at 18%. to me thats good. What do you guys think?
l think we have a rooted in 9208 dual sim that doesnt reboot and works fine
curiousty leads me toWonder Where it came from and whats been done to it
Guys, will this work with the hong kong version (9200)?

Guys, to be honest, I'm growing sick of hoping and waiting for nougat and I'm losing hope in motorola. And I'm starting to get flooded with stock rom issues and I just hit a year with this phone, wifi not working unless reboot, BT connection not connecting/disconnecting, sometimes my screen won't turn on but makes unlock sounds and I have to force shut down... .
Is there another ROM that's stable enough to use daily, or should I just root and clean this up best I can?
I haven't rooted incase I needed warranty, and up to this point I've been in love with this phone and it's buttery performance. Which is quickly slipping away.
Thanks in advance.

No, that's my first step but I haven't had the time yet. I plan to in the next couple of days, I just wanted opinions on ROM's to see if it's worth staying with stock or giving something else a shot. That wayI know if I should go straight to getting ready to root.

Another rom will not help you.
Do a factory reset(1st - delete google account - frp protection). Don't restore your data from g.account(log in with new one).
If problems will be again you sould ask for warranty repair.

Are the ROM's for this that bad? I've always had good luck switching on previous phones to avoid stock issues. If I thought otherwise I wouldn't have wasted anyone's time with this thread. I'll get it reset today.
Yours problems can be in software or hardware. If you flash custom rom you will loose warranty.
To flash custom you have to unlock bootloader - all data will be deleted.
Better idea is factory reset to check where problems are. @tbkrazeey

OK, yea your right I didn't really consider it being hardware, usually it's not so I just change ROM's.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development/rom-trupurex-fast-smooth-t3237155 < the only ROM which is similar to the stock ROM. I used it for almost about 1 year. But the developer doesn't do updates any more. So now i'm back on stock and i'm waiting for the official Nougat Update.
lineageos 14.1 is great from my point of view. No issues at all except when I tinker with the kernel settings myself
Give it a try.

As a side note, I turned off the moto display and my wifi issues have stopped, I'm not sure how that can be linked, but it is.
