Just curious, when I first got got the phone and rooted twice, I became unable to perform profile/prl update along with software update checking as well. I also couldn't do a ##786 or ##72786. I really want to root again with MF9 to do the hotspot mod. Anyone els ecome across this issue and can offer any advice I would really appreciate it.

I use aosp 95% of the time I've had my GS4 and I never update prl/pro and I have lte when other people who are completely stock tw don't and have to update to get it. Not sure what your issue was, all tw have the option to update pro/prl maybe something was up with Sprint..? I've had no issues using Aosp and we have some killer roms (official) for this device! Maybe someone else will have a solution to this.. I used Chainfires auto root twice and always was able to update em.

The error I get which I forgot to mention is "session in progress, please try again later". it only does this while rooted. I can immediately unroot and flash back to stock and everything works perfectly.
I've seen that a few times but I immediately hit update again and everything works fine.
Oh and I'm always rooted.

I took the chance and this time everything worked perfectly! I only wanted to root for the hotspot mod so I'm glad all went well.

Another odd thing I am seeing since the new update, is every time I reboot, if I go into the task manager to see all my open applications... After about a minute or so, I notice there is an app in there that says MIPerroractivity, when I click app info it says it is an app called com.sec.app.MIPErrorNotifier. Why is this automatically open like an app in my task manager when I reboot? Any ody else seeing this?

I see this too
Thanks for the reply. Was hoping it wasn't just me. Perhaps someone with more insight could shed some light on this.

Same here. Not sure what this is, and if I should just freeze it using Titanium backup. Searched google and the first hit was this post
One of the subsequent posts indicates that this app existed on the S3 late last year too - http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...ng-galaxy-s3-sprint-version-stock-rooted.html
Same here! I'm wondering if we rename it to .bak at the end if that will affect anything... anyone willing to test that lol?

QUESTION: Is everyone here running the latest KT Kernel. Bc when I reverted back to the MF9 kernel, I didn't get that anymore...
I am bone stock, haven't even rooted it yet. First time I haven't rooted a phone right out of the gate.

Same here just updated this morning. Bone stock and not rooted. Shows up after every reboot.
I did the update myself not via ota. Did everyone else here do it that way? Or did you receive the update via ota?
Maybe its somehow related to the way sprint is rolling out the update?

Happy I found this thread! Thought it was only me. I flashed the MF9 zip, and I'm using KT kernel.
The thing running doesn't really bother me, I'd just like to know what it's for. I kill it every time I reboot anyway

Should I have? I used Odin to get to stock MDL, then flashed the MF9 zip in recovery. Nothing else. Why would I need to flash the modem if the modem is in the OTA?

Did the same thing.
I also get this PITA notice.
Only thing I have been able to find so far is it appears to have something to do with "Mobile IP ERRor".
I will not claim to know what this means.
I have noticed that I have no cell service while roaming at home anymore.
Hopefully, this is because I am slightly (1/4 mile) outside of the official roaming service area.
I am hoping I can reset the phone profile once I get back into Sprint's network later today.
I am also not sure if this is related to MY upgrading to MF9 using the manual ZIP from SD card method and not waiting for the official OTA update.
I already posted that I did the ota stock non rooted and it appears for me.

After a bit of review
Ok, so I've been doing a little testing this AM to see if I could get to the bottom of this error.
After rebooting, locking and unlocking a ton of times I've decided its related to wifi connecting on the initial boot.
After a while I started noticing a pattern in relation to the toast message that pops up when it initially connects to wifi and the error showing up.
To confirm my theory, I removed the local wifi at my office, and on reboot, no error.
I have zero clue on how to fix the issue, but just wanted to point any devs looking into this in the right direction.
Additional notes, I'm stock, not rooted, and updated via the sdcard method.

I believe you are absolutely correct in your assumption. I can replicate this as you say. Also, I am completely stock, unrooted and gained the update via OTA.

galaxy s4
Has anyone totally deleted it (not freeze it, but DELETE IT) from system/apps ??
Again, sorry if this is in the wrong place but i dont know who else to ask but you guys.
I originally got my galaxy s4 (AT&T) when it first came out and couldnt wait to root and flash. A couple months later i had to do a warranty exchange just to figure out that it came preinstalled with MF3 (damn mf3) i ended up rooting and like most of you guy who arent/wouldnt be able to flash probably are bored. I then had to do another warranty exchange and when i powered the phone on i went to the more tab in settings and the "about device" was blue not yellow. I knew the phone was on an older firmware and i did confirm it to be on MDL (Sigh of relief) right away i started to root and downloading roms. i havent flashed any yet. My question is, on my stock rom (i am rooted) i keep getting a message. the the red and blue arrows for a new software (its that damn mf3) I DONT WANT IT!!! lol is there any way to stop it from asking me. i keep postponing it but i rerad somewhere u can only do that so much, im all nervous that im gonna wake up one morning and see MF3 took over my phone again lol.
sorry for the essay, if anyone has any info on how to stop it from asking that would be very much appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Dave
This should got in the QA forum. You can download a custom rom to get rid of the message or a freeze a few apps. If I were you, I'd get a custom rom, otherwise why would you care about not having MF3.

Try this:

Good luck
And for future, please post in Q & A section.
Or do this.

And i would freeze those apps right away like the 2 links that were post it on top if not MF3 will automatically update you phone so you need to hurry and do this Good Luck!

So if i do flash a custom rom i dont need to worry about it asking or updating on its own. i just flashed vision x ROM TW with Ktoones Kernel and i am loving the rom so far. But if i just keep a custom rom i dont have to worry about the update doing it by itself or freezing it?
Thanks to all the answers,
David

That is correct, good sir. If you froze the update apps/apks you will not be prompt for an update.
However, if you do end up odin'ing your phone for some reason, be sure to quickly block the update by rooting your phone and freeze once again. Odin removes root
Enjoy your custom rom as you are one of the lucky ones still on the old MDL update :good:
I cannot enable wifi since I updated to 4.3 today. I've tried everything I know and wifi will not toggle on.
I am so frustrated!
I was rooted before the update and lost root afterwards FYI for anyone who has root using 4.2.2
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I did see a message saying something about it not finding something on my SD card but not sure if the message (that flashed briefly) had anything to do with this issue or not.
Restarting the phone doesn't help.
My S4 is useless to me without wifi.
I have done a factory data reset and wiped all data. Still having the same issue.

People just assume they will fine. This guy/girl, I'm sure wasn't that patient and flashed the zip. The main thread for the update shows that members have been having problems with WiFi while flashing the update zip on stock rooted.

I'm familiar with rooting somewhat and figured for sure I'd lose root. I didn't know about the wifi issues though. I'm really not a dumb butt (and I'm not suggesting that's what you're saying exactly), it's just that after searching and searching for a primary thread and not finding one on the issue, I went ahead and did the update being fine with potentially losing root temporarily till another root option came out.
I feel like a dumb butt because I still cannot find the thread that you're talking about. Maybe I'm just overwhelmed. I have no idea why but my continued searches are still turning out fruitless for finding any info on wifi troubles at all except for people in Germany on different carriers.
Will someone kindly point me in the right direction for the thread you're referring to and in the right direction as to how I can flash my phone back to stock/unrooted?
I was just excited to get this update and have never ran into issues like this before with updating OTA on other devices, except for losing root.
I really do appreciate any help and I'm sorry for having a putz moment.
Garry.

If you already updated to mja update, you went to the path of no return; well for awhile. You can odin or anything or go back to other firmware. Its like apple's ios firmwares now. Being stuck when you upgrade and cant downgrade sucks really.

So... I did the stupid thing. I attempted to go back to my old MF9 backup through TWRP after upgrading to MJA, and now my wifi won't even turn on. I've been trying to figure this out for a few hours now, trying various fixes. I've tried to use ODIN to flash back to complete stock, but that just destroys my phone until I flash a recovery through ODIN. Everything I've seen on the forums so far has made it seem as though there is no hope since Samsung added in Knox.
I'm sorry if this has been resolved elsewhere, but I've literally been searching the General. Q&A, Android Development, Original Android Development, and Developer forums for several hours today with no luck. Can someone please help me with this? I just want my phone to be fully functional again...
EDIT:
Here's the deal; my main problem was with Wifi not working. The Stock MF9 Kernel was not working, but the 4.2.2 TW Kernel found here finally did.
did you try this?

i just gave up on trying to do a restore. I actually used Titanium to get as much information from my old backup as possible then just rolled with it. I know that probably isn't what you wanted to hear but that what worked for me.. hope that helps
I have read that the WiFi issue may be a Kernel issue.. Did you try a different TouchWiz kernel and see if it worked out?

This is actually what I was trying to do, sadly. Titanium was backing up my info to the phone storage rather than the SD card, and I had to do a data wipe to get to MJA, so I lost them. I figured I could restore to my MF9 backup to redo them, and that's when the trouble started.
I finally got it working. I had to try several different kernels until one finally worked. Now about flashing a new ROM...

Scott, check my first post. I edited it with a link to the page with the kernel I used. Make sure that you choose the correct kernel for your Android version. The MF9 and MJA designators have nothing to do with which kernel you need, so make sure to check in your "aboout phone" section to find out what android version you're running. Using the 4.3 kernel on 4.2.2 will cause a bootloop, which is easily fixed by flashing the correct kernel.
Hey guys,
Great site. I have the lag problem with my S7 edge after root. Downloaded fix file from link in other in (Rooting Problem). Not sure what to do now. Do I flash zip with Flashfire? Leave it in the zip state? I realize this is elementary to most, just been a very long time for me. Hated to ask the question again. Wouldn't let me ask it in the thread I mention.
Never mind, figured it out. Thanks for the 37 views without advice.

There's a file on the Verizon forum that helps most if not all the issues with root. Just flash it once and you're good to go. OP just doesn't understand people here aren't obligated to help him, self entitled privilege at it's best.

Sorry guy. You are right. I should of explained. I followed directions from this youtube video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kqb-p2JO5I4 ). Worked , but was lagging and wifi issues. Came here, found and flashed with Flashfire., the wifi fix file , which I can't seem to find here now. Everything worked great. Until next morning it was stucked on AT&T logo. Only could get it into download mod. Had to do a factory rest. Want to youtube to look for a different way to root. Found this ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcFEcycZZnU ) followed directions and seem to work great right now. But time will tell. Sorry for the rushed details, busy day. Thanks.
Update. Yesterday got stucked on AT&T logo AGAIN. I decided the heck with this root, 4th time I had to set phone up from start. I did a factory reset. Set my phone back up. Lost my root according to Root Checker. But I am getting security warning, and when it reboots. It still shows custom and unlocked. Any ideals? As so, I tried to do the AT&T update, but it fails.
If it is showing custom & unlocked, you might have a custom recovery and/or unlocked bootloader. Just got the S7 edge, so I haven't really messed around with the internals yet (or anything dealing with rooting or unrooting), but that's usually what that means in my experience. The fix is usually an odin flash to the stock image, but as I said, I haven't really gotten too involved with it yet. A factory reset will set the system back to stock, but I don't think it does anything with the other partitions. Good luck and if I can find anything out that might help, I'll come back by.
So far as the update, do you have all the prerequisite stock bloatware installed? There are apps that are required for an update to work. If you uninstalled any it will freeze you out of getting updates.
And my signature is so out of date it is funny.
