I have rooted nstg with 1337 rom. For very long time i've been using dropbox & dropsync to sync nstg with my hdd bookshelf. But my old version of dropsync is not working anymore and newer is not compatible with android 2.1.
Is there any other usable aplication to sync dropbox. Or maybe there is better system to sync computer with nook over internet?
Yes, i know this is ancient system and hardware. But apart from this feature it is still usable.

So, I only know about Dropbox. Is that not working for your NSTG any more? Google Books is another option if all the books are EPUBs.
Mmm.....I just fired up Dropbox on my NST and uploaded a file which I can see on my PC.

It's an "original" Dropbox app, v 1.2.4. You can download the apk file (and others) by following the link in my signature below.

I checked. You are right. Orginal dropbox 1.2.4 works. But it can only download/upload files. I can't sync local folder and dropbox. I would like to have exact copy because i mostly read offline
Bwt. link to zip i post from signature is blocked by mediafire.

Thanks for the heads-up on the file problem at Mediafire. Hmm...I wonder how to get around that?
There is still Google Books. Once the book is available on your device for off-line reading, you don't need to reconnect and sync unless you want to read it from some other device and pick up where you left off.
Edit: OK, I think I've fixed the zip file download. At least it just worked for me from a newly edited link. Thanks again for the info.

You're right, it's gone. I removed it recently since I never used it. Let me see if I can scare up a copy.
Edit: Here you go. Version 2.3.8. I just tried it and was able to log into my account.

Edit: It won't let me log in because of the message, it's not just a superficial issue.

That's pretty bizarre. I really did install it last night before posting and was able to sign in without difficulty. I even saw a document I left there some time ago.
I wonder...have you updated your cacerts.bks file? Maybe the security certificate needed to sign in to the Dropbox server has expired in the old cacerts.bks file. That's not so far-fetched as a cause since similar behavior was seen with the Kindle app when that certificate expired.
Omg thank you so much for posting this apk - it worked to get my NST back into Dropbox with the workflow I’m used to. I thought the ability to use a working Dropbox sync was dead long ago
FWIW - I accidentally clicked login without my password filled, it asked for a 2-factor password pin sent to my email. I entered it and my Dropbox password and it’s all good now

So everyone seems to indicate that you can add a "Google Account" to Polaris Office...but I can't seem to find this anywhere? I CAN add an account from the upper right hand corner menu button but it only shows a username/password prompt for Box.net
Someone know what is going on?
Thanks!

Not sure, but I added my googlel docs account this morning, and it's working properly. My recollection is that the menu showed choices of google or box.net, and I was able to make the selection, then enter the info for that account.
When I go back in to the menu and attempt to add an account now, it just shows the box.net userid/password inputs choices. I wonder if the firmware update today changed something?
In polaris, where it displays the folders, on the top right tab, go to settings. You should be able to set up and login/password there. Once complete, at the folders list, you will also see your email address selection for google docs.
Keep in mind that when you modify a google doc, you cant just hit SAVE, because it assumes you want to save it to a destination on your tablet every single time. You have to hit the top left to go back until it asks if you want to save. Then you hit OK and it should save. I'm not sure if it really saves it so you should verify. I've found it much easier to work with documents locally or use google docs apps for word processing. For spreadsheet, you'll save a lot more time doing it in Excel or on a laptop if you choose to use google docs. Both Polaris and google docs' app for spreadsheet is pretty terrible.

Strange, I tried to add a new account (at folder level > add account) and can only add Box.net account.
My version of Polaris is 3.0 build 5r3638-FV06
It's a TW version. Could this be the problem?

I also have the same build, and I have a US TF. I can't select Google Accounts.
On another note, my copy and paste from outside apps is broken with this build number. It wasn't broken with the previous version (before OTA).
I had the same problem of only showing Box.net in the add account list. It had the OTA update build 8.2.3.13-20110511 so I reverted to the V8.2.3.9 build and it showed both Google and Box.net. Now if I could find the 8.2.3.13-20110511 to manually apply all would be better.

I have the same version of Polaris as the OP and I also can't add a Google Docs account. The only account option is box.net. Is this a bug in this version? I hope its fixed soon.
Any possibility of someone pulling the old version for us to install?
So I just rooted and installed Prime v1.3...same problem! Can anyone with a Polaris Office that connects to Google please let us know what version of it they are running?
Thanks!

I'd like to try and older version as well.
No Google Docs login/integration here. I updated to .13 the very first 30 mins I got it so I don't know if it ever had it.

I'm kind of curious about this because I had to revert BACK to 8.2.3.9 in order to root...didn't have a drop down or anything.
Anyone able to pull/post the APK of a version that has Google Docs integration? Still looking for it!

Unfortunately, even after it is saying "Saving.." the document never really saves to Google Docs.

Yeah, I'm ok with that...just being able to OPEN a Document that is on Google Docs directly would be nice.

After not having this feature, I just went a different route...I opened a dropbox account and save to the dropbox folder.
It's easy, and works great. I guess I don't really care about Google docs now.
Ok...my bro got a Transformer and the Polaris Office he has DOES have Google Docs Integration. The build number is 5r3330-FV06. For some reason it looks as if the newer version has Google Docs integration removed...annoying!
I'll see if I can make a backup or something of it/otherwise copy it.
Thanks!

I had Google docs in polaris, and I used it quite a bit, but it's gone after doing a factory reset with the latest firmware.

I have talked with Asus Tech support about this issue and they are releasing a update in the next couple of weeks or sooner after test that will fix this issue and other issues. I hope the fix also address the saving to the mini-SD card and reformatting the document to be able to read with all office apps.

Okay I'm confirming it. Honeycomb 3.1 has an updated polaris app that includes google docs!

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I was wondering if anyone else is having dropbox issues with their Nexus? Everytime I try and upload a file, Dropbox poops the bed. Not a huge deal, but it's the most convenient way for me to send NZB files to my server.
For totally legitimate reasons, of course.

Same thing happened to me. Just uninstall and reinstall dropbox. If you have to, sideload it. For whatever reason, it wasn't showing up in play for me.
I recently had to restore my NSTG using a 2 month old backup (The library got corrupted: whenever I tried to access it, it just flashed and I had to go back to the Android area). Everything seems to work, but for some reason I cannot see the books I purchased in the meantime. I do see them, however, when I log into my B&N website....
Any idea what I can do to re-load those on my Nook. I have not changed my B&N password or account name (I downloaded a free book and entered my password and that worked).
Thanks!

Unfortunately not.....
I ended up going back to the non-rooted backup and root again and re-install all apps.
I also made copies of the b&n media and com.android.providers.media folders and plan to backup those whenever I puschase new books. Hope that will do it....
I had read or hear somewhere that there is an issue with attachments in gmail on the note 10.1 Is this confirmed by users who have one and use gmail or just a bad reviewer. Still trying to decide on Infinity or 10.1 and this is very important to me.
Thanks in advance.
I assume you mean using the stock e-mail client. I don't imagine the GMail app would behave any differently on the Note than it does anywhere else.

Just install a file manager app like Astro and you will be able to attach any file in the GMail app.

I don't have this problem.
No probs with attachments here, neither Samsung client nor original Gmail.
The Samsung client only sometimes won't download integrated pictures in emails like company logos.
No issues for me either. Just bad reviewers.
No he didn't mean the stock email client he meant gmail. Within gmail you only get these options (gallery or dropbox) stock for attachments but you can also send stuff initiating outside gmail using the share options in what ever app your in.
Also as gdirks says installing a file manager will let you choose whatever.

I have to admit that's pretty stupid. In my pics that's GMail being used via ActiveSync and you can see the stock e-mail client has Samsung's My Files app as the number one option. It also gives the option of sending content created in the S-tools. There's no reason (that I can think of) that the GMail app shouldn't behave the same way. At least to your point the problem can be solved by installing a third party file manager.

yes that is correct, installing a file manager like x-plore or solid explorer will work just fine.

Yup, agreed it shouldn't but it's samsung's terrible software design at work here. Maybe it was an honest oversight and they will fix it. I say we pressure them to do so. I'm sure someone will figure out how to fix it soon enough on xda but the whole point is that we shouldn't have to fix things like that, it should work just like stock aosp android.
I really don't want to setup gmail as active sync.
A friend also had the same issue. On my Galaxy Note 10.1 I had a slection for "attach video". Fixed the problem with this app: [I'm not allowed to post links- sorry]. Go to Play Store and search on "Attachments [Gmail Attach]"
I have no relationship with this developer. Cheers, David

Rats.
Google is your friend. Search for the app with a version number that (according to the Wiki) should run on 2.1
Of course, that's what I did, but you might have more luck. Or (hopefully) someone who is using it will see this thread. There are a number of old threads with app packages attached. A copy might be in one of them. I remember people touting it long ago.
Edit: a search of the forum turned up no old copies of the app for me, but I did run across a post complaining about the wake-lock in K9 and Gmail. If you're not wedded to K9, I use a very simple email app which does not skulk in the background waiting for a connection. That means you have to manually check mail. You might want to take a look at it.

OK, so never say "never". The attached K9 apk file installs on my NST and displays at least the first page I figure that's worth looking at. BTW, on that first page it states that it does not work with Hotmail....

I found an old apk for hotmail and that seems to work (even imports contacts from hotmail)...so I should be all set (re gmail + hotmail)....
Browser (Opera), email (K9 and hotmail), RSS (greader), news (BBC, Engadget,...); readers (kindle; have not tried Google books app yet). a few games (Chess Pro, Landrule, ...), and a few useful utilities (Button Savior, Mathsapp calculator, ...) and the Go Launcher.
Also was a lot of work (finding apk that still work under Android 2.1)....I will probably look into alternative e-readers later this year (such as inkBook Prime and Co)....

Yep, kind of an interesting scavenger hunt at times. There are two packages of apps which might contain something you'd like to try in this thread.
