I've just updated my Axon 7 A2017G to Android Nougat using the official update file from ZTE. After the update I wasn't able to start fastboot. (The device would just reboot) So I've installed TWRP using EDL and flashed the A2017G_N_Modem.zip from this link: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=148464
But fastboot is still not working. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi,
Download: build.nethunter.com/misc/axon7/A2017U_FASTBOOT_UNLOCK_EDL.zip
, extract the folder "A2017U_FASTBOOT_UNLOCK_EDL" and flash it with Miflash under EDL after fastboot will work.

Define stripped? If it's not included in an update, then it's using the fastboot that was previously installed.
B15 update file from Zte includes fastboot.img.

How did you flash TWRP via EDL? I have an A2017 on the latest 7.1.1 B13 firmware and an unlocked bootloader (which I unlocked in MM), but I can't get Fastboot to work (e.g. by flashing A2017U_FASTBOOT_UNLOCK_EDL via EDL), so was hoping just to flash TWRP manually in EDL.
I'd be very interested to hear what you did to get a working TWRP on 7.1.1!
Mike
U can flash TWRP using EDL with axon7tool

I just flashed TWRP using the axon7tool in EDL mode. But I didn't try if Android was still working and just restored a Backup of Android 6.
Hi,
I have an A2017G which after trying linageos had the stock rom from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-guide-updates-to-stock-files-via-t3469484 TWRP and an unlocked bootloader. That worked ok, and I wanted to upgrade to the stock ROM 7.1. I installed this using TWRP https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71664539&postcount=29. But now when it boot's after the bootloader it's stuck showing a linux logo, and it won't boot Android.
In the bootloader (http://i.imgur.com/Os4vkwT.jpg) I can try to go to fastboot, but selecting that only reboots the phone. I can however select recovery and go to the stock recovery (http://i.imgur.com/PBj6y6X.jpg). From there I have tried to sideload (selecting Apply update from ADB and adb sideload rom.zip) the stock rom (http://www.ztedevice.com/support/detail?id=1170789A90BA42E18B3364B80C7F5A26), the previous rom I tried to install (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71664539&postcount=29) and another TWRP stock rom (https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-kernel-stock-7-1-1-b02-based-a2017g-t3592470) but all fail at the very beginning saying "(adbd status 1) Installation aborted" (http://i.imgur.com/RzNSBtu.jpg).
I also tried to install linageos back using sideload but it fails ("failed to verify whole-file signature"). I believe that is because it's not the official rom and the stock recovery only accepts that.
ADB only works in sideload mode and fastboot doesn't (it loads the bootloader again).
Do you know how I should proceed? How could I install the stock rom, or TWRP again?
Thanks in advance.
Try it with this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-reinstall-twrp-root-update-to-t3578552
If you can't flash recovery with axon7toolkit try it with the last step "Get Fastboot" first. ZTE removed the fastboot mode in Nougat, so you have to flash another fastboot image.
If you can boot into fastboot again you can flash TWRP and from TWRP a rom.
Good luck!
Hi Darkem,
Thanks a lot, that actually worked. I was under the impression I wouldn't be able to install TWRP because I was only able to use the command "adb sideload update.zip" but other commands like "adb reboot edl" didn't work. But as it's said in the other post, pushing the three buttons of the phone set the phone into EDL mode. From there I was able to install TWRP.
Thanks a lot again
(A2017G) Hello. I no longer have access to fastboot because I flash a stock rom (Nougat) with the recovery stock and it has removed my modified bootloader, I managed to install twrp in edl mode but I still have no access to bootloader. What should I do please? Flash a stock rom (Marshmallow) here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/download-center-factory-images-ota-t3606547) to gain access to fastboot again (bootloader )? Thank you. Sorry, why do you want fastboot? If you're planning to relock the bootloader you'll need to be fully stock, which wouldn't be the case if you just installed a fastboot zip. Relocking the bootloader is probably the only thing that fastboot is mandatory for

I want to go back to ROM stock and bootloader locked but when I do not have access to the bootloader anymore I can not do the command "adb lock oem"
Hey guys, I have a unlocked, rooted phone which i need to return to ZTE. I used miiflash to get back stock rom and recovery but need to lock the bootloader. Whenever I try to go into fastboot mode, the phone just sits in the "Please lock the bootloader" screen, but i can get into stock recvoery and the ROM starts.
Even using adb or stock recovery to go to fastboot doesnt work.
I used this package to flash stock:
ZTE_A2017UV1.1.0B32_FULL_EDL_PACKAGE_BY_TURKDEVS
Any ideas?

That's normal. I think there's a package called A2017U_FASTBOOT_UNLOCK_EDL somewhere over here (they got it from 4PDA). Flash it via MiFlash and it should slap a new bootloader there or something. After that you can lock it
Ok just to verify, i am on the B32 stock rom with the bootloader still unlocked using Miflash, i need to be very careful doing this as I have already bricked one phone this week (another thread is coming about that)
i should use this thread to go back to B29 then lock the bootloader?

I believe B32 doesn't let you access the Bootloader. You need to MiFlash B15 in edl. Then you'll be able to access the Bootloader and fastboot oem lock. But be patient it takes over 30 mins for it to completely flash the package. After you relock it then you can either ota back up, MiFlash B32 in edl, or install the official b32 zip from zte from the SD card.
Here's B15 edl package

Turn off your phone completely, then hold volume up, volume down and power at the same time. You'll see the LED flash red once and nothing on the screen. That means it's in EDL mode. Connect USB and your computer will recognize it and do as you wish

First time I downgrade from B35 to B29, then to B15. Took a while. 2nd time, I found a TWRP EDL file which gives you twrp and fastboot altogether. https://build.nethunter.com/misc/axon7/A2017U_B29_TWRP_EDL.zip
I messed up and accidentally flashed the old oreo B32-based bootstack to use Candy ROM using NFound's TWRP 3.2.1-8 which was specifically made for the newer b12-based bootstack. Now I can't boot into TWRP at all but the phone still works just fine for day-to-day use. I tried to flash NFound's TWRP 3.2.1-7 via fastboot but after entering "adb reboot bootloader" command, I got stuck on the ZTE logo screen and was unable to proceed into the bootloader menu to continue with the TWRP reflashing process. I am able to reboot back into the ROM by holding down the power button for 10 seconds but I would really like to be able to get my TWRP working again.
I love NFound's work and I brought this problem onto myself by accident but any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated!
Use EDL to go back to stock and flash it again......
you're fine because you can boot into your ROM. Reboot to EDL and use EDL Tool to flash recovery of choice.
Sorry guys, but I couldn't boot into EDL mode either. I tried different button combinations (power + vol down, power + vol up + vol down), the EDL tool, command lines, etc but none of them could get the phone to boot into fastboot nor EDL. It always just reboots back into the ROM.

Sorry mate still no luck haha and I just got a new phone as well. But my ZTE still works perfectly fine, just no way to boot into recovery, bootloader, or edl mode. The only thing I haven't tried is using an edl cable but I don't have access to those at the moment. If you have the same problem as me, you might wanna give the edl cable a try if all else fails.
i flashed Oreo Rom and then flash Twrp 3.2.1.8. after restart i select that phone should boot into recovery. but phone led blinks and then phone goes off. I want to boot into recovery?
Hi - I am trying to reinstall TWRP on my OP6T after upgrading to OOS 10.3.0.
I am running Minimal ADB and Fastboot v1.4.3 on my Win10 PC. I have connected my phone to my PC, and entered Fastboot mode. The OP6T is detected when I do a fastboot devices command.
Next, I try doing a temporary Recovery Mode boot into TWRP with a fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-1-fajita.img command. This is where I run into a problem ... While the Minimal ADB and Fastboot window says that the TWRP image was sent to the OP6T, I am still stuck on the Fastboot screen, and the phone is locked up and doesn't reboot the image.

Once booted in twrp via fastboot flash the installer zip. It has always worked and will always. Always latest version. And flash Magisk after.

Put the latest Magisk zip and TWRP installer (zip file) on your phone's internal memory if you don't already have them there. Now you can fastboot boot the TWRP img file (Q version). Next flash the TWRP zip to permanently install TWRP into recovery. Reboot back to recovery to make sure it worked and then flash Magisk to re-gain root.
Reboot
Thanks, guys - The only reason I asked about the alternate "RAM Disk" method was because it was listed as the installation method by the developer on the link that @jp0469 provided earlier.
I'll try the old-fashioned method, since y'all say that it works OK.
