Hey. I recently won a MyTouch 3G, altough I live in Sweden, so I can't use my own operator...
How can I use my own sim card and operator?
I have to unlock the phone, right? Where can I get a code without buying it? Or can I flash the phone so it gets unlocked?
Thanks in advance.
Your going to have to buy it. I have been told that theres a place on ebay that does the MT3G for $12.
Who did you win the phone from? Is it new?

From htcpedia.com - a very good site. And yes, it's new.
I've been talking to T-mobile, but they refered me to HTC to get an unlock code... So I guess we'll se what happens.
I got my phone about a month before they released it to the public. When I contacted T-mobile for the unlock code they has to request it from HTC. They said it would take 2-14 days...... I got the code 6 weeks later.

Damn..that's unbelievable!!!
I got my myTouch through T-Mobile in early August and contacted them about unlocking it a few weeks later, prior to what I thought was going to be a several-week trip to Canada. At first I was told I'd be sent the code/instructions within 24 hours. I called back 24 hours later when nothing came and was told that the 24-hour turnaround was mistaken because the phone was so new, therefore they'd have to go through HTC to get it; and they'd send it to me whenever they got it from HTC. That was about 5 weeks, and I've still not seen anything (although I haven't called them back again yet, either, as my trip ended up only being one week and I turned out to not need phone service much while I was there, so I ended up not being too concerned about it).
I would call them back now. I called them 4 weeks later nd it still took them 2 weeks to get it to me. The unlock code just makes your phone more valueable.
Ebay, swift unlocks sells unlock codes, 12.85 US, I think...I have bought 2, and both were there within a couple of hours...
I was wondering where I could go to find the cheapest unlock code. I have already used the free one provided by tmobile but had to get that phone replaced.

Try calling again and ask for a supervisor. I know it sounds corny but I had the same thing happen and I had to call more then 4 times and then I asked for a supervisor and actually got one that I could understand and she was very nice and within a week I got my unlock code. They said it would take up to 14 days but got it in 7 so I was happy. Give it a try it can't hurt...
There is one on ebay for 9 dollars or so.. A bit pricey, but if you need it instantly, then it would be your best bet.

Thanx!! I got 2 devices within 5 months unlocked by calling 611, and HTC doesn't want to provide me another one until May of the next year. And I kind of need to unlock my device now. If you take Samsung for instance, you could find an app/tool for your PC that will generate you an unlock code from IMEI number you provide. HTC is big enough company to have some sort of same apps out there. Does anybody know of any?? Thank You
i have tried many places and none of them were able to provide unlock code for AT&T's X10a. but my last hope (the code) came in today and unlocked my X10a right away. am i the first one who has unlocked AT&T's version by code instead of cable?
edit: 12/18/2010
hi, guys
in order to get unlock code i need correct info to be filled out as a note/message, when you make payment at paypal.
please do not PM me with any info, it is very easy to lost track of PMs you are welcome to notify me about your donation though.
1. IMEI and S/N (serial number) under your battery
2. exact model and which network your phone is locked to
3. your XDA ID (to notify you when your code is ready)
4. i can only send code to paypal verified email address, the one when you register/make payment with paypal.
please note, it takes 7-10 days to get code.
thanks
Can you provide more info and/or explain more, thanks.

X10 Unlock
From my side.. it's three weeks that I'm trying to unlock this damn piece of cell phone, but no way.
At first I was quite confident wit cellunlockers.net, but after 10 days they refund my money saying -no way-.
Then I tried mobileincanada.com who where really very fast, they refunded my money after only 40 minutes
Last try with unlocking.com, after 10 days they were still looking for excuses, they did not find any code (on their web site they promise a next day solution!) so I asked for a refund, that they did not want to give me !!!
I opened a debate on paypal and after a couple of days I had my money back, but the cell phone is still locked..
So if anyone has a solution, please help ! AT&T supplies the unlock sequence (for free) only after 90 days from the purchase....
I too am having no luck with my X10 from AT&T so if theres not development I am going to go ahead and sell the phone....
Update: Got it Unlocked from Cellunlocker.net (Cable method)....

Everyone is better off just flashing 2.1 global firmware. There is no fuss doing it that way. Then you've got an unlocked, de-branded phone with non-market apps enabled

flashing a new firmware won't work. I have nordic 2.1 and while my att sim works, a tmobile one doesn't. the phone is hardware locked, and that's why it need the code that's based on the IMEI and the S/N

Wow...I still don't see why people would pay to unlock their phone. Read this.... http://consumerist.com/2010/05/to-s...-you-unlock-anything-thats-not-an-iphone.html
It's even easier to get an unlock code from them if you're not a customer. Just call and ask for it.

There is a 90 day waiting period. And even then, they can use the exclusivity clause and not give you the lock code.

you can either get your code or just ignore it.

Agreed. I have tried to get the unlock code for my AT&T X10a for 2 months with no success. Gave Lancez my S/N and IMEI and 10 days later received my unlock code as a PM. Inserted a different SIM card in my phone, entered the code and VOLA..! The phone was network unlocked! No pain, no hassle.
Does anybody now if the ATT S4 is unlockable already? Amazon.com is selling it for 700$ and im thinking about buying, since the international is hard to find.
if you buy the phone full price, you can get the code from AT&T but they wont budge easy. prepare for a fight but it can be done, ive done it several times my self.

I wouldnt worry about that, just give them a call and tell them you bought the phone full price and have the receipt in hand. They will play dumb, i always ask for a manager when on the phone with them.
I bought mine full price and att said the unlock codes were not available yet and not confirmed when they will be.

That my friend is a bold-faced lie. No locking is done without a key available to unlock it. They just don't want to share.
Att can definitely unlock it they just choose not to. Regardless I got mine unlocked today with cellunlocker.net took about 15 minutes and cost $24.99. Got my GS4 on T-Mobile for now.

Further proof that the unlock code is available!
I was at AT&T. We looked up the information while in the store. If you sign the 2 year contract they will give you the unlock code after 3 months. If you pay full price and go prepaid service you have to wait 6 months before they will give you the code. I read it right from the AT&T's sales reps. tablet.

I've read several accounts of people who recently bought an Att phone at full price and with no contract who where able to unlock their phone through Att. You really have to be vigilant. I just ordered an s4 from amazon and will try to unlock it tomorrow to use with my T-Mobile sim.
I unlocked mine through a code purchased from a website. Not helpful if you're trying to get ATT to do it, but proof it can be done!

If you unlock using a code bought from one of this website offering this kind of service would it be a permanent unlock? You won't have any problem updating firmwares, OS, or anything?
