ZTE Blade Z Max Z982 rootable? - Blade General

See topic

Not yet. But let's lobby for it. This phone has finally deposed my Huawei Asend Mate 2!

It needs root badly. I need OTG for my $80 VR headset. Plus it would be nice to add ram and overclock.

I need to root my zte

Possible root way? Z982 MetroPCS
I was using app called, Missed Notification Reminder by Eugene popovich version 1.1.18 on play store. That app has a section that adds apps you want to remind you of notifications. When I was adding apps, here was also files that shows Qualcomm, modem stuffs like that. That had to be in the root area. So, correct me if I'm wrong. The author of that app apparently hit and went thu a locked door to the root area with that app. I had an Samsung avant that I had rooted myself till I broke screen. Then got this z982 from MetroPCS. Does this helps any on finding a way to root these phone? Sometimes we just stumble on these things. I just couldn't figure out why I was seeing those files when all I was trying to do is add an app for reminders.

I have no idea. I still have the 982 but its a backup wifi phone. I bought a LeEco S3 for $129, much better than the Blade Z Max and can be rooted. Sadly it doesn't have the nice 6" screen, but that's probably the blade's issue, big screen slower gpu

Does anyone have a problem where the power button won't always turn off the screen and you have to kind of hold it to get the screen to turn on and off? On the ZTE blade z max

Long Time Android User, GN3 Questions

HI all, long time android user here (had the OG droid, then the Thunderbolt) just got a new GN3. After dealing with the thunderbolt for so many years, I was happy to be getting something in the Galaxy series so I could go back to AOSP... only to find out the GN3 will probably never get an unlocked bootloader, and thus, never have AOSP. Le sigh. Ah well, at least I find touch wiz slightly better than sense. ANYWAY, I had a few questions concerning touch wiz, rooting and other things, and was hoping you guys might be able to help. Any and all responses are appreciated.
1.) Are we still worried about using Kingo? I'm already on MJ7 and I have a feeling some of the stuff I'm going to want to do with my phone will require root access.
2.) Does safestrap entirely new partitions for each rom? I'm just wondering if I can load a few roms onto my phone to test them out and easily go back and forth.
3.) Every time I plug in an aux out cable for my car stereo the volume is reduced to a certain level. Then when I turn up the volume my phone warns me about hearing loss. Is there any way to turn this off? (I think I saw on a different page someone talking about needing root access.) (ALSO, WTF Samsung, are we all children? Oddly enough, this is only a concern when I'm using that as a general output for speakers, I always listen to music on my headphones at a very low level.)
4.) Has someone compiled a list of all the apps that come on the stock rom and what they do? I'm just trying to turn off as much stuff as possible to de-bloat and improve performance and battery life. If there's a list with all the apps one can safely turn off without affecting anything, that would be great. Also, is there any way to turn off certain apps like VZ messaging, backup assistant, etc, or do I need root and another app to do that?
5.) Is there a way to adjust the settings on the default keyboard? (Mostly I'm trying to adjust some of the autocorrect settings.) Or are you guys using an aftermarket keyboard app?
6.) What are you guys using for screen protectors? (I know there are a million threads for this, but I thought I'd just add it in.)
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Welcome to the Galaxy family. I too had a Thunderbolt, long since retired thank goodness.
I'll answer what I can:
1) Depending on who you ask there will be different views on Kingo. I personally did not use it, I rooted when I had MI9. If you are concerned, there is a post on here detailing that you can remove the Kingo SU app; and how to flash another.
2) Yes. SS is perfect for fast, safe swapping of ROMs.
3) I believe you must be rooted and using Xposed and Wanam to accomplish this. I may be wrong though.
4) No list that I know of. To turn off system apps you'll need root.
5) May want to check your Settings -- Language and Input to see if the settings you are looking for are there.
6) I bought a Spigen case and their screen protector for now. Waiting for the glass protectors to come down in price.
HTH
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Right, wasn't the Thunderbolt a mess? Over the last 6 months there were a few devs that put out some roms making it actually usable... but it was still rough going. Glad to be on a new device.
1.) If just switching out the Super User app is the biggest worry, that should be easy and doesn't bother me.
3.) Is this as simple as downloading the Wanum Xposed app? I've read about that in various posts on here, but never really got an idea of what it was... it's just an app that opens up a lot more customization on Touch Wiz?
4.) If there's not a big list, is there a small list of the best things to turn off to increase battery and performance?
5.) Found it, thanks.
6.) I'm currently rocking a Spigen Bounce case and one of their cheaper plastic screen protectors... but my install was pretty crappy and I want a new one cause it's gonna drive me crazy.
Thanks for all the help.
Oh yeah, it certainly was. Big, bulky, and slow.
1) One other thing to mention is that your IMEI may be sent out during the exploit process. Plenty of people have used the method and haven't said anything bad happened as a result; so hopefully that holds true since this is still the only root method for MJ7.
3) Pretty much. You would download the X posed framework. Then, from within Xposed you can download and install the Wanam module. Then from within the Wanam module there is an option to disable the volume warnings. There is a good bit of other modules available within Xposed to adjust other aspects of your phone as well.
4) Still no list that I know of; I'll try and look deeper in a bit. What I did originally once rooted on stock was use TiBu to freeze unwanted apps; then used greenify on others that I wanted to keep, but wanted to control when they would use cpu, data, etc.
5) NP, glad to hear.
6) Haha; I know the feeling. I have the Neo Hybrid; loving it. It doesn't offer as much protection, but I wanted to keep the phone thin. It has been dropped from about 5 ft up, and so far so good.

Axon 7 Mini Community

Hi all,
it seems as if I'm the first on XDA to own an Axon 7 Mini. Therefore a first set of Information:
Region: EU (D)
Model: B2017G
Color: Gold
Software Version: V1.0.0B01
Baseband: MPSS.TA.2.1.c1-00101-897_GEN_
Please let me know if I can suppert the developers in any weay.
Cheers!
Any review... What's your take on the device.... Tq...

Well probably not a complete review. First of all it's a great phone.
- Display Full HD with great colors, who needs more?
- Overall performance, not playing game so not much to say here. Definitly a better feel then the OnePlus Two I was useing before. Can't really pinpoint why...
- Camera is good for everyday use. Nothing to exciting here.
- QuickCharge 2 is great, though I miss Qi charging (why is that not a thing anymore? Even Ikea sells qi chargers now...)
- Sound is probably the best I ever heard on a mobile
Just two annoyances:
1. You have press the freaking bell on the lockscreen.
2. A builtin task killer!? Why? Killed my alarm clock twice before I found out what was going on.
what about audio chip? the same as greater?
Yeah Audio is by far the best I had on a mobile. This is true for loudspeaker, calls and headphones.
Chipset here is supposed to be the sames as with the normal Axon 7.
I just encountered the first real issue:
Problem: When speakerphone is enabled the other party can not hear you.
Solution: Disable "OK Google" detection.
can you make few photos in day and night? and video for example street view to check the sensitivity of the microphone- full HD, give link to mega.nz

Can you elaborate on that? How can I configure the task killer / keep the alarm from getting killed?
Well, the Task Killer is hiding under Energy Settings. You can select not to kill it there. But still it took me two days to figure out why it was happening.
About the Fotos. Let's see how the weather is outside the next couple of days. I'm pretty sure there are already a couple of youtube Videos out there, which already tested the camera thouroghly.

Are you using the built in clock for alarm or a third party app? The built in clock does not show up in the app list in the energy settings for me.

Hi guys, I received my Axon 7 Mini yesterday. From all the information on the internet I was under the impression that the device supports 802.11 ac (5Ghz) but now it doesn't seem to find my network. Do I have a defective unit or can you guys confirm that?
Thanks,

How is the battery life?.. What SOT can u get... Tq
Sent from my SM-N920C using XDA-Developers mobile app
As for me battery life is fine. It's about 2 days in average use.
Can't confirm about AC-wifi. I'm still using old N-standart router.
Hi,
I am using the Axon 7 mini now for a few days.
First of all, I'm very happy with this phone. But I have some problems.
When I tap on top of the screen the phone moves my apps and the are sorted another way I want them.
Next thing, all of the movies I receive in Whatsapp stop after a few seconds. But the sound goes on. So you have to wait and at some point (video ends) the sound is killed, then the video starts running again but without sound. Is anyone else here with a similar problem? I just hoped to receive a custom rom or something else for the phone because I think there is much potential in this thing.
I was looking at this phone to recommend to a friend, but I'm distressed that there isn't much of a community here. Should I be worried about recommending this phone? It really looks like a good deal for someone with a budget of $300.
Look at axon mini thread here on XDA. Locked bootloader, root after a few months and only by some Chinese stuff, not working on updates by manufacturer, lack of custom roms... That's the major thing you should consider before buy. I think that's not worth $300 +/-.
Maybe if phone would not have SW issues, but I don't believe ZTE could do it.
Nevertheless, axon mini had major price drop after several months on market - from more than $300 to $180.
Hey all. I've had an Axon 7 Mini for a few weeks now and have been writing pros, cons, etc. about it on the ZTE USA community forums -- I can't post a link because I'm new here
I'm in the UK, and shipped mine in from Germany. I have the same model as the OP, but the grey version, with V1.0.0B02 software. It hasn't had any software updates since I've had it, but I'm hoping the Mini will also get an update to make the notification bell optional (and the LED customisable if possible).
I consistently get around 5.5hrs screen on time, but this drops if the location settings are on. It has great coverage on the UK giffgaff network, and I didn't have to edit any APN settings for 4G and MMS to work.
Thanks to all who have posted. Any info about RF reception? Many complained the Axon 7 has poor RF and WiFi reception.
Also, how's the sound on headphones? Can you tell us if it has WiFi AC (5 GHz)? This is still unclear to me.
A bit disheartened to see a complete lack of support for this thing so far, as I was looking for something a bit smaller to replace my LG V10--but I like my root.
It will get updates, probably Android 7.0 pretty soon, the thing is you guys have gotten the phone so fast, lol. You'll have updates during these months don't worry.

Phab 2 (not pro/plus) root reports (none yet)

just got my Phab 2 from lenovo today. trying various methods and will report if anything works.
kingoroot - no
Well just made it through my first day of using the phab 2.
Some good, some bad.
Battery life is not what I expected. 100% to 50% from 10am to 8pm. Moderate usage, Waze navigation for about 10 minutes. I came from a Huawei mate 2, so my standards are pretty high.
Some glitches setting up Bluetooth with Microsoft sync. Would not reconnect after initial setup without turning car off. Although, I will note that sync has had its own issues.
No root means no app settings, everything is too big.
The stock launcher is outrageously boring and not customizable. I could not find any real settings to adjust icon size, or even to change icons.
Now for the good:
Overall Android build is very stable and quick, no hangups with many apps running.
Display is very crisp for being a low-end model, and includes settings to adjust tone and color intensity.
Very little bloatware.
Camera is actually pretty good. Not perfect, but ok for 200$.
Plenty of good comments about 6.0, as I came from 4.3, but I'll spare the entire Android review.
But, this is what makes me never want to buy a Lenovo phone again. I called lenovo to get some basic specs on this phone that were not verified online. I went through 10 minutes of automated dialog and 5 different phone numbers. No one knew who to talk to about this phone. They're so focused on the big customers that they forgot to provide any support for what may be their biggest seller? On top of that, the guy I finally got in contact with at technical support was baffled that I would call about something other than a desktop or laptop, and did not have the information about this device on hand. This isn't a problem, as I got what I needed, but it almost seemed like no one was aware that this device was even available yet. Nothing in their support site references it, no real technical detail available, etc.
Anyways, I digress. There aren't many other 6.4inch phones available, so I can't complain too much. Overall, Im enjoying the experience. Plus, it gets attention.
Where did you get this... I've been looking to get one but haven't found a source...I'm assuming you're saying battery life is weaker than on the HAM2? Thanks again

Directly from lenovo. Yes, but the ham2 is pretty much the top tier in terms of battery life.
After a few days with it, I can go all day with Bluetooth Pandora, 2+hours straight of screen on time, 30 mins of Waze and have 40% left. I'd say it's doing pretty good for a standard phone. A few issues I've had are, the stock alarm app notification gets stuck and cannot be dismissed on occasion. A restart fixes this. Bluetooth AND Microsoft Sync have to be reset when a failed connection happens (this also occurred on my ham2, but only once every 2 months. This is once a day.) There are always 2 network icons in the notification bar for some reason.
On the up side, the camera has proven to be excellent in standard lighting. Pictures take a while to 'click.'
Touch response is very clean, will say I'm impressed with either the phones accuracy or androids ability to detect where a touch was meant.
My biggest pet peeve is also one of my favorite features. The navigation buttons are so dim that you can't see them in the daytime, but they're also so close together for such a large phone. But, this gives you plenty of room to grasp the phone without exiting an app by mistake, or bringing up a menu midst message.
Anyhow, I'll gladly answer any questions anyone has.
Thanks for the info... Lenovo doesn't have a place to order it yet for the U.S., at least that I can find.
Here ya go:

I'm expecting mine today/Monday. Can't wait to get back into a proper-sized large phone. I've missed them since I sold my Sony Z Ultras...
Yeah I saw them on sale now, thanks. Can someone who has one please post a full Antutu benchmark score with 3D? The reports I've seen on the MTK8735 suggest a benchmark of around 31000, which isn't terribly impressive, but I'd like to see it on this device specifically. Thanks!

Any luck with rooting your phab2? I cannot find any method.
Is there any method to root lenovo phab 2?
How are the AR features? Any of them useful?
this version does not have AR features. You're looking for the Plus/Pro or w/e.
We're going to need to get a read back of the ROM from SP Flash tool to get root I think. What we really need is a TWRP build. I've tried quite a few variations for our chipset but haven't found one that even remotely boots yet.
hopefully we some others engage. i've got stuff I need to do with this phone, a few of which require root access of some kind.

I hope you find a way to root phab 2. Why would they lock down the fastboot? Isn't the android open source? Slowly becoming like iOS.
fast boot isn't locked down, nor is the boot loader (once you unlock it). The problem is none of the MTK tools that I have are working like they are supposed to.
I've started a DEV thread with the stock images attached. Perhaps someone else will have better luck

My device is from Philippines. I unlocked the bootloader, but from recovery I cannot access bootloader. Device would not let me choose bootloader even though has the option, and from fastboot reboot, the device would not reboot.
the boot loader IS fast boot. Lenovo devices are notorious for allowing you one fast boot command per boot into the loader.

what do you mean by one fast boot command per boot into the loader?
You can only issue a single fastboot command before having to reboot back into the boot loader to issue another.

v20 screen ghosting increasing. please help.

I bought a refurbished v20 at a lower price from the market. It was working fine until a few days back that image ghosting is becoming quite an issue for me. If ANY app is opened and stays open for 10mins or more, the text and bars of the app starts becoming visible on the home screen. I read many articles for this issue on xda and internet. Some saying to use the sfilter and some suggesting to use a custom rom with KCAL support. Well i am not a custom rom type of person as i am not tech savvy and don't want to mess up with my phone. I tried the sfilter though but it didn't help at all.
The ghosting goes away after i turn off the screen for 10mins or more but this issue is annoying me. I have NOT updated to oreo yet, and it is still running on noughat. I haven't updated anything except the play store apps. Please help me what should i do to get rid of this issue.
(i really love this phone but due to this i am planning to sell it and buy some else brand after being a loyal LG user).
Only way to remove the screen retention is to root the phone. I've had every American variant of the V20 and they all get screen retention but luckily it's easily solvable but you must go through the rooting process. I hope you can find a day off and dedicate it entirely to unlocking bootloader/root/TWRP/Oreo Update your V20. It's definitely worth it and not too hard, hopefully you have the H918 T-Mobile variant... Cuz all the work to solve your problem is very easy but takes time.

Well its a long story about the phone model/software version. When i got the phone it had h910 rom installed and i thought it is the at&t version. I kept using it and at&t rom has a huge drawback that it shows the carrier name in the taskbar and it covered almost 60% of the space. I searched on xda and everywhere else, and got to know that i can easily convert it to us996 and everything will be solved. I did it but then lost the gsm signals. Finally i gave up, fearing that i might worsen the situation with hard brick. So, i took it to a guy in software market and when he connected the phone with some software, it said that it is not h910 at all but instead an f800k Korean version. He installed the f800k and everything started working perfectly fine.
Now that i have gone through this much problem, i am scared. I have searched for answers about this ghosting everywhere on the web. I found from answers:
1. ghosting can be removed with any custom rom
2. those custom rom which have kcal support will only be able to solve this issue.
3. only lineage os has the oreo version but then they lack second screen support.
please correct me if i am wrong in above 3 things.
Now in light of this all, what do you suggest to do? And please guide me the steps you did to complete the process. I would really be thankful if you post the working links/videos url for the whole process involving unlocking bootloader, rooting, twrp and then custom rom.
I hope i am not being a pain to you. I am sincerely and seriously asking your help.

Before going down that road of unlocking and rooting, try installing the sfilter app. Set opacity to like 10% on the color black. Give it a few hours to notice the ghosting to go away. If I don't use the sfilter app I get crazy ghosting on both my V20 and V10.
If you don't believe me just Google sfilter app and lg V20.
It's not fixing the real issue, which is probably the display getting hot from the CPU, but it masks it and makes it not noticable.
After a while you can probably dial down the 10% to like 5. Personally mine is at 3%.

New X6 6gb Ram 64gb Storage...

Greetings at all X6 (6.1 Plus) users.
I've recently purchased an X6 from/off eBay (for a steal, or so it would seem). Yet to arrive.
From my reading, it seems:
*stay on Android 8 is recommended
*the charging port will possibly crap out (I could not open box & re-sell it?)
*stay on Oreo, unlock, twrp, root & custom rom
*as above, keep in box & re-sell (I was looking at the Poco F1... but, it was a couple hundred dollars more)
Not new to modding, but haven't modded for a couple of years o_0
S5 running Android 6.1 custom rom has been my personal daily driver for last wee while.
Work phone is an iPhone XR... but, it's locked up tighter than a barrel. I can use it as a personal phone (if needed).
Re-sell vs keep the X6...??
Decisions, decisions

It sounds like you prefer older versions of Android?
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with Android 9 (Pie) on this phone as long as you factory reset. Pie is working perfectly for me. Don't listen to all those people telling you not to update.
Lol!!
S5 on Bliss 6.5 works well enough for mind...
Never saw need to go past it ;-P
Re, X6... what about the Charging Port issue?
Seems like that's a real concern/issue?
If you can't charge your phone, it might as well be a brick =O
I probably should have shelled out for the Poco F1...
...but I convinced myself I don't need a phone that powerful o_0
Sent from my kltedv using Tapatalk
Charging port issue is a two sided story. On some device-
1. Either ther port wears out and you keep replacing, It wears out again... It's a cycle.
2. If the above does not happen, Then the port will stay tight but a little loose than other USB type-c devices.
My device is of the second type.
On Android version, I never used Oreo on this phone. I got it on Jan 22 2019 and Pie had already been released by the time so i updated the phone immediately during setup.
Pie has been good so far, Some of the bugs have been fixed and, This June is supposed to bring system UI enhancements, No issues on software side.
Unlocking bootloader costs money though
I'm using the 6gigs and on pie. I did not face any bugs nor have the charging port issue
My X6 has arrived... Setting up w/ apps as per S5.
My charging port is super loose OTB [emoji51]
Fingers X [emoji120] I don't get the charging issue.
One is very minimalistic and I likey [emoji2956]
Also like how newly installed app permissions are all disabled by default [emoji851]
Missing customisation options of course. The battery percentage is so 2.3 it ain't funny [emoji107]
Waiting on some decent cases to arrive as the supplied one is [emoji90]
[emoji848] X6 footprint is a lot less than I imagined
