Earlier I was nokia N86 user. Charger of that phone is same like SGS2. I charged my SGS2 with that charger. And I got the feeling that it was faster than original SGS2 charger.

i have a nokia n97 mini charger which i use to charge my SGS2. It is indeed faster. But i guess it is because the nokia charger is capable of 1.2 A against only 0.7 A for the Samsung charger. Keep in mind that the voltage is the important number when matching chargers.
Both chargers are 5 V. Having higher A number means the charger is capable of giving out more power (power = V x A), power is energy rate (how much energy per second delivered). That is why Nokia's charger is faster, because it can give enery at a faster rate

Yes, Price been issuing an (I think 1amp) old htc charger. Not sure I notice a difference in charge speed, though its possible it still helps when running flash, oced etc by helping power the phone more so the battery isn't picking up the slack and can maintain charging without load. And no more amps can't hurt,a load will pull what it needs (more volts WOULD be am issue) Its like a 1200 watt pc power supply to run grandmas pentium computer wouldn't hurt it, just be under utilized. Make sense?

The charge speed is directly related to the current output of the charger in use, as long as the phone is designed to accept a current higher than the lowly 700mA the standard one outputs.
With a 1A charger you should get (in theory) ~43% faster charging, assuming the phone and battery can draw that much current to charge.
Let's hope the phone supports this:

Havent done any test but my old blackberry charger, charges the phone faster. Anything is faster than the stock charger.

Hmm im interested in this thread, somebody with an electrical background should chime in on if its totally safe or not to use a charger with more current output.

Me too i saw a quickly charge with n97 charger.
But, with the original one, you gain like 1/2 hours of autonomy.
Quick charger = less time to charge the buttery but less time on battery
Slow charger = more time to charge buttery but more time of autonomy
The best should be charging the phone in offline mode using the computer

I think it should be fine, i used another charger on my old HD2 for most of the time i had it (a year and a half) after i lost the original and never had any issues.
So can someone give a list of what chargers would charge the phone faster than the one that came with it.

The phone apparently limits the charging current to 650mA no matter the charger. Not sure I'd want to be the one testing increasing the cap though

My factory charger is rated at 2 amps @ 5V so any charger with those specs should work. I use my Amazon 2A charger without any problems as well as the 2A port on my Ravpower portable battery pack.
TLDR: You get what you pay for. Any 5V charger will charge the device, you do not need a specific "Tegra Note Charger". The larger the current rating the quicker the device will charge. If the psu does not have a USB port in which you can plug in a USB>MicroUSB cable, ensure that the psu has a microUSB plug attached.
There are two main considerations though besides this, first is brand/quality, the second is the charge current available.
Brand/quality - Not all chargers are made equal. Most nowadays are switchmode but component quality and design will vary greatly between chargers of different brands. Whilst the basic buck design that most manufacturers will use is efficient, there is a lot of transient noise introduced as well as voltage ripple depending on the design and components used. The funny thing is that the difference between a "good" psu and a "bad" psu is cents in the dollar but many manufacturers will choose to save those cents. The sense behind it? Most consumers are completely ignorant.
Charge Current - There are two main differences you will see between a 500mA or 2A charger. The first is charge time - if the psu is capable of supplying a higher charge current and the device is capable of drawing that larger charge current then your device will charge quicker. Thing is though, the USB standard requires negotiation to be made between the psu and the device for charge currents larger than 500mA. If you buy a cheap psu that is capable of 2A but does not have the negotiation IC, you will never charge more than 500mA. Once again, the difference between having this IC and not is cents in the dollar.
I just bought some US->Euro AC-adapters so i can use the original charger. A new charger that has decent quality would cost at least 15$ or more, since 2 ampere outputs are rather uncommon (most phones-chargers ones only have 1 ampere).
And 1 ampere is not quite enough to charge the TN7 an use it at the same time (currently using a 1A-charger).
But even with those adapter you don't want the cheapest. Or at least read some comments on amazon before buying. There are a lot of really cheap ones.

It appears like Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charge is in fact an equivalent of Quick Charge 1.0 but not Quick Charge 2.0.

Just a guess but I expect your need a bigger battery, like that in a tablet, to handle charging at 12 volts. As it is, I'm blown away by how fast this phone charges on the adaptive charger. Just wish I could get one for the car.

Yep, its a beast at charging, according to PhoneArena it remains the fastest charging phone around, so its Adaptive Fast Charging is doing an incredible job!
My concern would be what it does to battery life..can't help but think the lifespan of the battery will take a hit using fast charging all the time.

My car has an a/c outlet; the real problem is just finding stock on the adaptive charger. Even then, don't much want a cord running to outlet in back seat. As for using an inverter.. D/C ports are in awkward places to use one in Explorer. Will make due until auto version is available.

What do you mean you wish you could get one for your car? There are plenty of compatible models available for your car. This one has 1 quick/fast charge port and 3 regular 5v 2.4amp ports.

I am planning a 900 mile hike and need to minimize weight since I will be bringing filming gear. I have purchased a light weight plug strip with Quick Charge 2.0 USB ports. Will this work the same as the Adaptive Fast charger for my Note Edge? Or will I still need to bring the little white USB/AC plug thingy?

It confuses me why a phone with a USB Type-C port would ship with a Type-A to C charging system. Beyond mere speculation, does anyone have information on why this was done? It doesn't make sense to me.
Also, has anyone tried a Nexus/Pixel type-c charger with the OP5? How are the charging speeds on those?

Because only a small number of users have computers and spare chargers with type-c ports? Even big brands do this: Apple uses a type a to lightning and Samsung type a to type c. This will change when type c is more common.
Regarding the charging speeds, Oneplus uses a proprietary technology, so it's only possible to charge at "dash" speeds using the original cable and charger. If you use other cable (or use the original cable, but not the charger) it will be 2 or 3 times slower. It all depends on the power output of charger you use.

I've read places that OnePlus moved the fast charging tech from the phone side to the charging brick side. This is what also allows the phone/battery not to heat up during charging. It don't think the phones could handle charging at these speeds without frying the phone (phone would fry an egg) if the tech was still inside the phone.
All I don't understand why cant we charge this phone with QC2/3 chargers as fast charge because the SoC needs to support it?

This is what really gets me. Lots of people have QuickCharge chargers from other phones over the years, and it's easily supported by the hardware OP uses.
Dash Charge and Quick Charge are different things. Each technology needs different hardware to work.
Quick Charge was created by Qualcomm and it's used by the best Android phones (Samsung, Nexus, Pixel, etc)... it's slower than Dash and manufacturers need to pay a fee to Qualcomm when they use their technology. We can find support on power banks, car chargers, usb hubs, computers, etc.
Dash Charge was created by OPPO, Oneplus parent company... I guess this and the need to save money are the two main reasons for them to use Dash over QC.
Dash is faster because it moves some hardware from the phone to the charger. This way the heat generated by the higher voltage and amperage is "stored" on the charger allowing the phone to receive more energy and charge faster. The downside is that it's almost impossible to find compatible power banks, usb cables, chargers, etc.
There is also some concerns from users about the battery life... Oneplus says there's no problem, but everyone knows that charging batteries very fast is bad for their lives... anyway, most of us don't keep the phone for more than 1 or 2 years.
Then there is the "normal" charging, used by Apple and by cheap phones and usually can go up to 5v ~ 2.4a. This is also what the OP3/3T/5 uses when we don't use the original cable+charger.
Apple for example cannot use QC because they make their own CPU and don't use Qualcomms chips. Samsung also have a different tech they use on phones running on a Exynos processor.
tl:dr:
Quick Charge: from Qualcomm, slower, the "smart" hardware is on the phone, hotter phone during charging, colder charger, way more popular;
Dash Charge: from OPPO, faster, the "smart" hardware is on the charger, colder phone during charging, hotter charger, only OPPO and Oneplus use it;
Normal charging: it's slower, there is no special hardware needed, works with everything;
Can i use a quallacom quick charge charger rated at [email protected] (i guess what turbo power gives is 9v at 1.67A)
P.s both give charging current of nearly 2500ma in ampere app,my original moto charger is not wrking and i am out of warranty
Yes I use my samsung charger (9v 2amp) on my G4 all the time shows as turbo charger when plugged in.

I don't think you understand, there is no charger specifically for the SD625 or any other chipset... this is merely Qualcomm's Quick Charge technology, but Moto/Lenovo didn't want to pay the licensing/royalty or whatever else to call it that, so they call it TurboPower. I have a Qualcomm QC 2.0 adapter here at my desk and if I connect it, it clearly says "TurboPower Connected".

Again, I don't understand what you mean. The SD625 support Quick Charge 3.0, but the charger supplied with the device is a QC 2.0 compliant adapter that is labeled "TurboPower", at least in the US. If I connect a Samsung GS7 to the Moto charger, it shows Fast Charging as well.
I am not trying to be argumentative, but I don't understand what are you trying to say here.

Honestly? I'm guessing it's a royalty or licensing thing, they can't say "Quick Charge 3.0" because they didn't pay the fee.
Just my guess... I have nothing to back that up.

Have you ever tried the Quick charge 3.0? Some users report that quick charge 3.0 doesn't work. I haven't tried it coz I don't have the QC 3.0 charger

Ok, using "highly" and "much better" here might have been a bit overkill... From 1.0 to 2.0 the difference is huge, from 2.0 to 3.0 not so much, especially on a device like this that isn't drawing a ton of current consistently.
Is a 3.0 charger better for the longevity of the battery, and thus the device, over the long term? Yes. Is it significant enough to pay the extra over a 2.0 charger? That's your call... After a year or so of consistent use it might not even make a significant difference in battery life, it may add a month ot two to the longevity of the phone over it's lifespan, no one can say for sure because each case is unique.
My chargers, except car chargers, far out last my phones, I've had the same charger on my nightstand for 4-5 years now (seriously, it's from a Blackberry Playbook) so it's an investment...

I use right now Aukey QC 2.0 charger and I consider buying QC 3.0 charger so thank you for the explanation.

That is my charger at work... If you have a QC 2.0 charger, don't bother getting a new one. If you are buying one, get a 3.0 one.
I know this thread is a little dated and I'm a late comer to this thread, but I just bought the g5 plus on a black friday deal at best buy $300 down to $225, US xt1678 variant, 64gb storage and 4gb ram, I jsut could not resist it for that price, and....it was actually cheaper than the 32gb storage 2gb ram variant which was listed at $229

I recently just bought a 2.1 fast charge lighter plugin, but guess what, it doesn't turbocharge only normal charge. I tried with the cord that came with the phone, as well as 2 other cords and still only normal charge for each one.
Now with my wall charger (the provided turbocharger that came with the g5 plus) in the house, all 3 cords work and show as turbocharge as long as I am using the provided moto turbo charge wall charger.
I also was curious and tried an old samsung charger that I used on I think it was the s4, last samsung I owned lol. With my nexus 5x which has USB-C worked wonderfully with it, but sadly turbo charge does not work so well with the samsung wall charger, because it does not show as turbo charge, but only normal charge on the g5 plus.
