It's been years since I've installed a custom ROM, so I'm rusty on the process and trying not to brick my phone. I have a Verizon Galaxy S5 running OptimalROM 13.1, and I want to upgrade to LineageOS (KLTE) 14.1. I went to this page and tried to follow the instructions:

However, it gave me errors just trying to prepare for the install using Heimdall, at step 5 where you're supposed to enter "heimdall print-pit". It tries to download something and fails. I don't have my usual assortment of microUSB cables so it is possible the one I'm using is suspect. It also occurs to me that the instructions could be assuming I'm upgrading from stock rather than another custom ROM.
Like I said, it's been ages since I've tried doing this, so I appreciate the help on these newbie-looking questions.

Is there any way to get Android Lollipop on the Galaxy Core Prime SM-S820L? I have read about custom ROM's but I still don't know much about them and can't find any for this model. If anyone has found or created a way to flash a custom ROM onto this device, please let me know.

I also own this device, and unfortunately there is very limited support in the custom Rom department. If there was to be a lollipop Rom, someone would either have to port one somehow, or build it from source. Given the development rate for this device, I don't predict it happening anytime soon, sorry to say.

i have been trying since february the answer i got from my carier was samsung is contracted not to support this device thats why that is so hard to find samsung told me to take the device to bestbuy to force update if they could probably irrelavent but maby it helps

Yup! This seems to be the future for the SM-S820L, or lack of future I should say.
I too have the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime SM-S820L. I have spent lots of hours scouring the internet looking through every android related forum in hopes of eventually finding someone that is undertaking much needed programming to build a custom ROM for this CorePrime version.
If you are looking for a custom recovery to use. I can point you to my and others posts over at Needrom. The best I can offer is an unofficial TWRP release, but it DOES work! It does for myself at least and I am no Android Guru whatsoever.
I guess I am not allowed to post Links in any of my posts yet because I am still a NOOB on these forums. I'll PM you with some direction my friend!
I cannot take credit for coming up with any of that software. I simply rooted around long enough to compile a collection of tools and files that worked for me to modify the Recovery of my SM-S820L.

I have a samsung galaxy s5 and really wanted to get back down to a 4.4 android version. I tried installing a standard 4.4.2 for my device but it was very buggy so ideally i'd like to get cyanogenMod 11 on my device. I have managed to get a gapps version for it, however any link i find for cyanogen mod 11 is dead. If anyone has one that would be amazing!

I am using LineageOS 14.1 for my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I freshly installed it and flashed open_gapps-arm64-7.1-micro-20171225 afterwards. The problem is, that Excel and Word keeps crashing..
I am not able to start it for the first time. Am I missing something?

I flashed back to Stock and after the OS was running, I flashed TWRP again and installed LineageOS. This time I flashed Open GApps first, before the first restart. Maybe this was the error. It could be also possible that I removed my external storage and so Excel and Co. is working now.. IDK
Hey everyone,
I have been using a G900F with LineageOS 14.1 for approximately 9 months now without any troubles and was able to install APKs just fine.
But suddenly, when I want to install in APK and click on it, the phone does not show me an option to "install" anymore, only to "open with Texteditor or OpenStreetMaps". I have tried differen APKs, checked that I still allow installation from unknown sources, there is enough free space left on the phone.
I have no idea what the trouble could be and I cannot find an answer online, because all I can find is that people need to turn off their screen dimmers. But I don't even get to the point where I see the option to install the APK.
It would be great if you could help me, because I really don't want to wipe everything and install LineageOS again.

I used to be a flashaholic on my last two phones, but now that I'm finally wanting to try a custom ROM on my PH-1, I'm realizing I've forgotten the procedure.
Can someone please direct me to clear instructions for going from stock Pie to a custom ROM?
My phone's bootloader is unlocked.
I poked around on the Essential forum sections but didn't see instructions. Last time I flashed a ROM, it seemed links to instructions were usually included in the thread announcing each ROM. That's apparently not always the case now.
