The volume is at half volume when comparing it to my iphone and thats the G6 at max. Im using a pair of beats X.
Thats via streaming btw via spotify & tidal & using apps like blackplayer & poweamp.
Is the reason bluetooth is so low because they would rather people use the built in quad dac?
The LG G6 is the H870DS model

I ma having the same problem on my H870 compared to other phones, also the issue with audio quality being degraded to crackling is also present since G5 if you have connected a BLE device, gonna make a thread about it.

maybe is because of the app.
If the volume is alright when you are playing locally stored music or during calls, then it is not a hardware issue.
I don't know if you can change the settings, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I donot know if it is something wrong with the galaxy lineup or maybe android but I am having poor music quality on my phones I had a galaxy s3 and now a galaxy note 3 .Tried nearly every player poweramp, winamp, player pro and even rooted the s3 to try viper4android but the music always sucks either too flat or too noisy .should I try a sony device or the music on android isnot rich and crips (os problem).
I tried the new Adapt sound in note 3 with the default player and nothing new.
I use the bundled samsung headsets (tell me if I should replace them).
Thanks in advance ☺.
Are u talking about the sound with or without headphones?
Anyway I think the sound is one of the best u can find on any cell phone, there are just a few better (htc m8 4 example). If u are talking headphones I would personally advice anyone to switch away from in ear headphones (sound always bad to me) and take some real headphones instead. Hope that helps in any way
With headphones .

Bundled headphones are rather poor/flat for music - I still use those sometimes as a headset since the controls and mic work (while other models of headsets do not) but for music I use separate headphones.
I use the earpiece from my HTC one and it sounds nice.
Only caveat is the music player of touchwiz is slow and dumb.

No, you should stop using crappy headphones.
I'm using AKG K323XS A Black with N7player and my own equalizer settings. Perfect sound on my Note 3.

Try over ear headphones or at least switch if you like earphones. I haven't had any issues with the sound using sl 150 headphones.
good music quality achived but with issues
I tried apollo + dsp manager yesterday with the bundled headphones and the sound quality was greatly improved but the installation of the dsp manager messed up the default music player and the system as they become not responding when I get notifications during apollo playback . Maybe I will try a cm based rom any recommendation for good ones .
Thanks.
Head on over to hi fi org. Music, get a separate player like a Fiio x3 or x5. My rig is an x3 with vmoda m100 headphones, powered by a portaphile 627 amp. Day and night totally. I hate carrying both around but sound on phones are anemic at best.

Sound is much2 better

Yeah, the included headset is a piece of crap.
I had the same thought at first, thought something was wrong with the phone. After listening to some music with my HD598, I can safely say that the phone has very good audio quality.

You also may opt for a ROM with Viper Audio, but seriously you need better headphones first.
As others have said I would agree
1) Standard in ear headphones are not very good quality with any phone.
2) Android doesn't seem to be oriented towards prioritising high quality audio.
Having said that there are a number of steps that are likely to improve audio quality depending on how important and how much money you're willing to spend.
My advice would be first get a decent over the ear quality headphone.
Then get your music in lossless format e.g flac files not low bit rate mp3.
My personal favourite music player is Neutronmp.
Then if you still want more and are willing to spend more then the advice to head over to headfi given earlier is going to lead to an excellent source of advice.
Likely advice, again referred to earlier would involve investing in a separate dac / headphone amp.
Many available at different prices, I use Fiio E17 via usb otg cable and usb audio player Pro

What high end music players do you guys use for the LG G6 that doesn't have the audio cutting out for a split second on every song or skipping that is comparable to Poweramp? I was considering Player Pro but it has the same problem. i tried JetAudio Music Player but the highs sound muffled without one of the audio enhancers you have to pay extra for. I don't like the idea of buying an app and then having to pay extra for other features when other apps have it included for free. Also what settings or tweaks do you guys use to correct the cutting out or skipping? I have the settings maxed out on the PlayerPro and Poweramp and still have the problem.

Yeah it does. If you don't have their headphones in the preset list go down to the bottom for "other headphones". Should work with bluetooth. I didn't keep the app very long after finding out it wasn't showing my album covers and no way to add them like with Poweramp and PlayerPro. The interface is so 2011. Rather ugly by today's standards. the EQ was good sounding though.

Any problems with it? Are you using the version 3 alpha? That's what I'm using now. I think I got it working better with the newest version 704. I adjusted the buffering and priority. The settings are different inn this one.

so it doesn't have audio problems? Did you adjust the buffering or priority? I'm trying to understand how it works good for you. I am on my 2nd G6 over this issue and still have it on Player Pro. So far the Poweramp alpha 3 is working good after i tweaked it.

None that im aware of yet? Version 3 was a bit glitchy found some songs would stutter and i sometimes had a weird distortion.
I went back to the official 2.x version and it's fine, earphones are fine and i cant say more than that really? Not sure why your looking at replacing the phone over the app? Its software and new to the device. Unless in samsung nothing is ever optimised straight from the box.
going through V20 forums about the quad dac, I'm pretty sure only some players (maybe only LG Music) recognises the ES9218+ DAC in the G6, the rest apparently can only recognise what Android audio manager api or whatever lets them recognise which is only the Qualcomm DAC so it essentially limits it to 48khz and plays that.
At least this used to happen, I hope LG has fixed this and allowed the ES9218+ to be seen by 3rd party players and used properly, does anyone have more insight into this? Please let me be wrong about this lack of support -_-

Just read a review that claims only Korean models of the G6 have HiFi DAC? Is that true? I just bought a G6 from AT&T because of their 50% discount, and I took it for granted that HiFi DAC will be featured. Anyone to confirm?
No quad DAC. U.S. version has wireless charging instead.
Never mind. I found the answer somewhere else. I am returning the phone and f**k you LG.
There's plenty of confirmation all over the internet mate. Never take things for granted.

LMAO @ blaming LG for your stupidity.
Well its his fault for not reading before he purchased the phone, but its LG's fault that the phone didnt have the DAC in the 1st place. I love the phone, i like the phisical design and feel more than the S8 and S8+ however I do hate that LG chose for me that we people in America dont like/need the dac. Its just plain stupid on LG's part. They should have equipped the phone the best they could to fight the S8, not cripple it from the get go. As it is im happy with my G6 and will keep it, but i would be way more happier and satisfied if it had the DAC included.

Yes I too am really pissed at LG for excluding the DAC here. For that reason I won't get rid of my V10. When V10 gets Nougat there is a chance I will sell my G6 instead.
I've been using VLC with my library of flac music files I transferred to a new 128gb Samsung microsxdc card ($30.99 on Amazon ftw!) and the built in 10 band equalizer over Bluetooth in my car. Just to report, the sound quality is just as good as plugging the phone into the aux port via the headphone jack. Very impressed with the sound quality on my Fender Audio System. I just wish LG would have included a nice set of headphones like the S8 plus received. I bought the S8 plus for a relative and she gave me the S8 plus AKG headphones. I was able to install the Comply TX-400 Isolation Plus earphone tips I had been using on a cheap pair of smokin' buds that I use when I mow. The sound from the earphone port using VLC is also excellent. I highly recommend using VLC, I was skeptical at first, but it's free and the equalizer sounds great. I really didn't know how to use it at first, but I played around with the levels till I got it to my liking. I started out with "rock" and went from there.

I'm not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure the speakers will need to support Bluetooth 5.0 for multi-stream audio.
That said, Chromecast/Chromecast Audio is probably what you're looking for. I have a few newer Sony speakers and it's built in... I have 4 speakers grouped in different ways to listen to (and control with Google Home) anywhere ?

To be honest you'd be much happier with Chromecast Audio if you use Spotify or Google Music. It streams the audio full quality over wifi and with much greater range. I find Bluetooth connections a lot more finicky and prone to drops. I only really use Bluetooth for headphones now.
But that's just my opinion!

Hello, i searched on internet and i found out that there are G6 models with HI-FI Quad dac build in in settings. Is there a way to add the settings also to H870 via root or something?
I would love it to have, i use high impedance Marshall headphones. The audio quality is good but i wonder how it would be with the hi-fi settings enabled.

Well, at the moment you can't add missing hardware using software methods
Ok, i understand, so it's a missing hardware component in my h870. Now the question is, it's a big difference in audio quality? did you had the chance to compare them?

The quad DAC is only on dual sim models.
Now, about the differences. I can switch the quad DAC on and off on my G6. I also use high impedance headphones, the Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro. I am sorry to report that the differences between DAC on and off are huge!.. The volume levels get a massive boost and the sound becomes much richer. But all these are achieved only when using high impedance ( >50 ohms), with normal headphones the differences are not so noticeable.
The quad DAC (along with the wide angle camera) are the only two reasons that I am stuck with LG phones. They are solid handsets anyway, but these two are killer features for me.

I am using different phone as my music player and it's equipped with dedicated DAC - and yes, the difference in sound quality when compared to other phones (without dedicated DAC) is really big.
The only non-dediacted-DAC phone that sounds good for me is my Xperia XA2, my company phone. But it's a SONY and for me actually SONY was always a second name for good sound quality. Clear Audio plus their other audio tricks work great.
But that's when speaking about phones. Now, recently I got a tablet which I use to listen to the music/watch movies at home. It's Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite. And its sound quality is just A-MA-ZING. I've never heard anything like this before. Either speakers (four of them, Harman Kardon branded) or headphones sound just incredibly great. When playing music through the speakers, it sounds much better than most of laptops that I've heard until now. I love playing binaural audio tracks from youtube, as it really creates spatial audio around listener's head using these 4 speakers.
I feel it also has to have some dedicated DAC, because the sound is so clear and dynamic, that I can't compare it to anything I've heard before (maybe close to Sound Blaster E5 that I'm using with my PC) - and it utilizes something called "Huawei Histen".
Compared to all these toys plain, normal, LG G6 sounds just "yeah, quite OK". No "audio fireworks" and no jaw dropping quality, but just pleasant sound. It's a pity that there is no equalizer built in the phone software (on the other hand you can use something else - and I really recommend the "Neutralizer" application from the Play Store, it's really good and totally different than all the other equalizer apps out there).
