Project Fi Insurance - Google Pixel 2 XL Guides, News, & Discussion

I was reading through project Fi help info and under protection plan has some good info for people who ordered there phones through Fi who didn't get the protection plan.
It says
Add Project Fi device protection
To enroll in Project Fi device protection, you must purchase your phone through Project Fi. You can add device protection when you purchase a phone or within 30 days of the phone’s shipment:
So you should be able to add it in within the first 30 days.
Hope this was helpful

Looking for Options for Mobile Data in US

Hi,
I was a very happy user of ATT MediaNet service for the last 8 months until today.
I added the service as needed via a ATT Pay as You Go service, it worked well and was good value for the money at $19.95 for 30 days.
I travel every other month to US and like the service with my HTC Shift.
Today, I went online to add the service, I could not add any services to add online, called ATT, they were closed and called a backup number and was transferred to Pay as You Go team.
They advised me that service was discontinued Nov 8/08, agent advised it was temporary. Asked to speak to agent supervisor, she claimed service is no longer available. Who know what the real situation is, in Canada I expect this crappy customer service from wireless carriers, ATT experience up to now has been good.
My question relates to what other options do travelers to US have for non roaming data services that can be paid on a as needed basis?
I did a quick check on TMobile site, I could not find any services that match with prepaid.
I hope this post alerts other who were using the MediaNet service that it is not an option anymore or someone else has better info than ATT as to the future of the service.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Sim Unlock Solution

There are other threads on this but they are related mostly to one network - this is my experience and success in sim unblocking my UK T-Mobile supplied HD2.
If you are on T-Mobile and are not worried about immediate unblocking then call 150, speak with T-Mobile customer services and they will simply charge you £15 and send the required code to enter - can take up to 28 days they say. (note there is obviously no longer any need to complete your contract - so why do they block it at all?)
I wanted to get unblocked earlier so paid £25 to a local (UK Swindon based firm) and they got me the code within minutes of my call. This local firm can be reached on [email protected] or +44 788 1790 668. You send your IMEI number and £15 (via bank credit) to get the code, then pay the remaining £10 on successful unblock - the first £15 will be refunded if it does not work.
The man I spoke to said he could get the code within 15-20 mins. All I can say is it worked perfectly as promised.
How to sim unblock (when you have the 8 digit code)? Just insert the 'wrong' sim card. You will be challenged for the unblock code, enter the 8 digits and press OK then a pop-up on screen will confirm you are unblocked and the sim will work. Could not be easier .
Note - there is discussion elsewhere that implies that it takes a while to get your IMEI to appear on the database that such unblocking firms use.

TMobile server blown ?

Seriously WTF is up with T Mobile ?
Trying to open a brand new account comes up with this.
We are currently unable to process your request for service with T-Mobile.
T-Mobile's servers are busy or unreachable.
You can try again later, or you can purchase the unlocked phone without service.
Ordering one contract free obviously goes straight through to the ordering screen.

WARNING: SIM Unlock Scam

I just wanted to warn anyone looking to SIM Unlock their device to be wary of using an XDA member with the e-mail address of [email protected] I found him on here and attempted to use his services, with him even stating beforehand if it didn't work, I'd be refunded. Off course it eventually didn't work and after figuring this information out, this person has been M.I.A. since. Refusing to email back or, more importantly, refund my money. This is just my personal experience, and others may have differed, but I wanted to make this information available to avoid anyone else having their money stolen.
