While trying ti install CM 11 from TWRP i managed to brick the phone. I dont want to waste time sharing the details unless it's need to solve the problem. The main thing is that my phone is now stuck at the LG logo. Previously i was running the CM 10.2 Stable Build.
How can i get back to working condition? Either CM or Genuine LG Rom, I just want my phone to be up and running.
Please Help. I am really scared at this moment.
You don't share any details so I have to guess...
Enter recovery like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifi-ArGeTzQ , restore your Backup or flash another ROM, done.

I can enter both the modes shown in the video.
The thing is i was running CM 10.2 with a TWRP installed of version 2.6.3.2. I downloaded the CM 11 and went into TWRp to flash it but it couldnt flash the CM11. Then after searching the net i found out that TWRP 2.6.3.3 or higher is required to install CM11. The problem is that i wiped my dalvic, data, cache and system and did not keep a backup. So when the Cm11 wont install i was stuck in the TWRP as i didn not have the 10.2 rom file in the phone.
Then downloaded the TWRP 2.6.3.3 and also a CWM zip (just in case). Using ADB i tried to update the TWRM but still some other error shows up. Tried installing the CWm still some error shows up. i tried installing again and this time the recovery asked me to install superuser (though i was rooted). I selected YES and after that i am boot looping in the lg logo.
Anyways thats basically what happened. Now how do i get further and make my phone work again?
Please help brother. I am in deep trouble.
Thank You
Man... always keep a backup, you know, just in case
Shouldn't be a problem at all. You have ADB access right? So here is TWRP 2.6.3.4 those are flashable ZIPs.
Push the file, flash with recovery, reboot to recovery again and you should be on 2.6.3.4. Then flash CM11 and you are good to go...

So you can't enter the recovery like shown in the video? And the command adb reboot recovery doesn't work either?
At this point your only option is to return back to stock and start over but with a recovery from the link I provided in the other thread.

Ok then i will follow this process and hopefully be successful in getting my phone up and running.
Thanks for the help. Downloading 2Gb will take some time. So will post the result tomorrow.
Regarding rooting and installing custom recovery again, i will do that later. For now i just want my phone alive.
Anyways Thanks again everyone for the helpful information
Try getting to download mode right now. Because if you can't get to download mode you can't use the back to stock method
from my Note Thrizzle
Thanks everyone for the help and support. I have successfully reverted back to Stock LG Firmware.
I have some questions.
1. Do i have root access anymore?
2. Is my previous custom recovery still in my system?
3. If no for both then please help me with the appropriate article to root, install custom recovery and then install CM11, as my previous recovery was not able to install CM 11.
Thank You
I have a 2012 Nexus 7. At the time it had a locked bootloader but it was rooted with cm11 & TWRP on board. I downloaded the Nexus toolkit & tried to upgrade to lollipop when it was officially released. Somewhere along the line, I think the system partition got corrupted. I can manually flash all IMG files except system. I can get into bootloader & recovery. I even tried flashing TWRP again to reflash cm. TWRP took but cm failed to install. Anyone else have this issue? The tablet appears to boot but it just gets stuck at the Google screen with the lock at the bottom. Never goes past that point. Any help to revive this tablet would be much appreciated.

Can you enter recovery or fastboot mode? If so, use either to attempt and repair (format) the system partition, then reflash the ROM of your choice.

Ok so that worked to flash cm but will this continue to happen if I try flashing the official lollipop update? I'm trying to return to stock so I can give the tablet to my nephew. I don't want him jumping into recovery or bootloader & wrecking it for good
Hi,
So I have created this thread just because I can see many people creating new threads as after flashing CM 14.1, their phone doesn't boot up. So for all those who are going to flash CM 14.1 or have already flashed it and can't get it working, this thread is for you.
What you will need:
1. Rooted OnePlus X (Obviously)
2. Custom Recovery (TWRP recommended)
3. Latest CM 14.1 build
4. Arsenic Kernel or BlackReactor Kernel
So this is how you get CM 14.1 working on your OPX (make sure your battery is above 80% just to be sure that nothing will go wrong considering battery's point of view)
Make sure you have backed up everything before performing the following steps as the process will wipe your data completely. (I would recommend to take a Titanium backup of all user apps and then taking a nandroid backup of system and data)
1. Download the required files and place them in your SD Card or internal storage
2. Reboot your device into recovery
3. Go to wipe, and swipe to factory reset (Note! This will completely wipe all the data from your device including app data and SMS! This won't wipe the contacts but just to be safe, have a backup of all your contacts)
4. Go to Wipe again, and go to Advanced wipe, select the following partitions - System, Cache, Dalvik cache. Swipe to wipe (Note! Make sure you have a backup of the System as this will wipe the Operating System from your phone!) Although this step isn't necessary, I like to do it.
5. Go to install, and direct to the location where you have saved the CM 14.1 zip file and the kernel. Select the files, and swipe to flash.
6. If you want anything else in your system, direct to that location, select the zip file, and swipe to flash. (Note! You need not flash the SuperSU zip file as CM offers Root access in developer options)
7. Reboot your system and wait for it to boot.
Viola! Your device is now running official CM 14.1 nightly.
Hope this helps! ?
Downloads:
1. Latest CyanogenMod nightly - found here https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=onyx
You can have any version of the nightly as long as it is CM 14.1
2. Arsenic Kernel R32 (or R31) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/development/kernel-arsenic-kernel-r2-t3422020
Open the above thread and follow the guide
OR
Black Reactor kernel v1.0 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/development/kernel-blackreactor-kernel-oneplus-x-t3460989

Good Evening, @aamodjoshi23 THX a Lot. You are my Hero. Finally it works.
greetings
If you're facing some Error 7 while trying to flash cm 14.1, you can try updating the bootloader following this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69267239&postcount=2560
I used the Oxygen OS 3.13 full ROM as recommended, edited updater-script (following those instructions)
Immediately after flashing the OOS 3.13 rom, you don't have to reboot.
I immediately flashed twrp 3.0.3 original from https://dl.twrp.me/onyx/
I then rebooted into twrp 3.0.3 (using the reboot button in twrp, then bootloader)
Then I installed (in this order):
cm 14.1 (https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=onyx)
arsenic kernel (as recommended above)
opengapps
Not sure if this step is necessary, but I wanted to let twrp patch the rom to not overwrite twrp so I rebooted into twrp again (using reboot --> bootloader in twrp)
Then I used reboot --> system
First boot took a while, but now I have nougat!!
kenel zip every time
Do i need to flash the kenel zip every time I update the the cm 14.1 zip file?

Yes, as when you flash the CM 14.1 build, the kernel that is provided with the build is also flashed, and that is not supported. So you need to flash it every time you flash a CM 14.1 build, but if you want to flash any other build, something like CM 13.0, then you need not as the kernels provided in those are supported.

Hi,
I have a very specific problem. I rooted my Oneplus x few months back and everything was fine. I use to get update notifications and after downloading it use to update automatically. But since last 2 months i download the update files but it takes me to recovery and then i cant find the zip file to flash/install. (i also started using external sd card two months back, but not sure if it has to do anything with this). I tried searching a solution on web - tried checking 'system' under Mount tab, installed an app for auto update and some more but no use. I even connected my phone in recovery mode to laptop and copied the zip file to internal memory but while flashing it gave error.
Now i am not sure what the problem is. Do i need to update my recovery or something else. Pls help.

In October oneplus updated to 6.0.1 officially i.e OOS 3 it brings new bootloader to the device as you are using old recovery you can't flash new update..so you need to upgrade to latest bootloader by following thread available in general section or you can flash stock recovery and upgrade to latest OOS and flash whatever you want to flash..I recommend you to see how to upgrade bootloader in general section if you are planning to flash custom ROMs or if want to flash latest OOS then simply flash stock recovery and upgrade. onece you updated to OOS 3 after that you can flash new official twrp 3.0.3.0 from its official page.
Edit: for old bootloader you need stock 5.1.1 recovery..which is not available in official oneplus download page..so just follow below link

I made a blunder. I read somewhere to upgrade TWRP to 3.0.3 and after doing that now i just can't access the recovery mode. When i try to boot in recovery mode the screen gets stuck with One+ logo. Then I even tried to Factory reset and the phone rebooted to the same screen stuck with logo. I longed pressed the power button and it got switched off and then again turned it on. It started and is working fine but I cant factory set it, nor cant I access recovery to flash anything.

This is because you flashed wrong recovery twrp 3.0.3 is for new bootloader and you are on old bootloader..that's why it all happened..so you just need to flash old recovery..then follow given link to upgrade bootloader and recovery.

I've got a good news and bad news for you.
The bad news is, no one has the older 2.8.x TWRP image files and there are no threads that have the download links for the older version of TWRP. So you're stuck and you have lost your recovery. You have lost everything... Having no recovery means you can't do a lot of things like factory reset, any wipe of a partition, you won't be able to update your system, you won't be able to flash zip files to enhance your experience and many more... I'm sorry my friend...
The good news is, I've got you covered. I had saved the older TWRP so that if anyone one day would need that recovery image, I would be able to help them.
Download the older TWRP from here : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2Ms-zaNd3SiTmpxX0UtYUV2R1k/view?usp=drivesdk
Flash it. You should get back your recovery.

By stuck on boot, I didn't know you meant that it showed only the OnePlus logo and not even powered by Android.
In that case, follow this guide to update your bootloader :

I bought this phone used and the person who had it before me it rooted and installed some of different ROMs on it. After getting my used moto x pure 2015 running android 6.0. I booted it up and tested all the functions (including downloading a few apps) Wi-Fi, camera, audio/charging jacks ext. Everything worked fine. So did normal factory reset (not using TWRP) just to make sure everything was clean before using it as my daily. Then, (BUM BUM BUM!) when I tried to start downloading all my apps. None of them would download even though the Wi-Fi was working. Error 492 I think.
I started trying custom ROMs because I was having two big issues (apps not downloading and incoming call not bringing up accept/decline screen) with my stock rom. and wanted to fix those issues with a fresh stock image.
This is all new to me and has not been as easy as anticipated. If anyone knows a clean factory image I could flash or a fail proof fix to error 492 that would be helpful. I really just want to return to fully working Motorola stock android, but the files I have used haven’t fixed the issue. I have searched for a factory image without finding one…
Is there a way to flash the Motorola image through TRWP?
Otherwise, maybe you can help me with my flashing method, and maybe tell me what I am doing wrong. I tried to flash multiple stock images all with the same issue. I have also tried to flash Resurrection Remix, and Brocken OS, both having resulted in a bootloop. I am starting to think I have done something wrong. The steps I have taken so far have been these:
My bootloader is unlocked status code 3.
My phone is not rooted. Do I need root?
First I downloaded adb and fastboot.
Then I flashed TWRP (3.0.2).
I never installed the official Motorola stock image because flashing it from fast boot wouldn’t work and it couldn’t be flashed with TWRP because it is a .gz not a .zip. (I knew a .gz needs to be flashed with fastboot but I knew TWRP was easer so I didn’t fuss with it)
After flashing TWRP to my phone, I downloaded (yes, I checked the md5) the various ROMs to my computer then transfered them to my phone via micro SD card.
Here are the file’s names if that matters:
moto_x_pure_edition_stock_x1575_mphs24.49-18-3_v1-odexed
(booted and Wi-Fi but play store won’t download apps)
moto_x_pure_edition_stock_x1575_mph24.49-18_v1-odexed
(booted but no Wi-Fi)
Broken-v4.9.1-clark-6.0.1-OFFICIAL-20160824 (with Broken_gapps_lp5.1.x_09172015)
(Brocken was the only non-stock that got past boot, but I still couldn’t get past set up without an error and never made it to the system.)
ResurrectionRemix-N-v5.8.0-20161220-clark (7.1 gapps failed to flash but I booted it anyway.)
(boot loop after both of my tries)
I got Wi-Fi working on one of the above stock ROMs (so I KNOW it works) but couldn’t even turn Wi-Fi on in all the others.
The method I used to flash all of the above files in TWRP was:
Wipe
Full wipe (davlik cache, data, system, cache)
(used for RR and Brocken)
Factory reset (using TWRP) (davlik cache, data , cache)
Used for the stock ROMs or even after flashing .zip file I got the error: no OS installed.
Install
Select file of ROM flash (gapps if needed) and flash
I can’t remember which ones but on some of them after flashing I again did a factory reset.
Then I rebooted
Thanks for reading. Sorry it was so long. I tried to add as much useful information as possible. Hopefully someone smarter than me will see my error(s) and help me get my phone into fully working order.

I'm having a similar issue. Tried the TruPure rom but I want to switch back to stock. If I do a full wipe, would I be able to use the files that Motorola provides on their website and flash those throught fastboot? Or through TWRP? Any chance you have a link to a guide on how to do the latter option (installing through TWRP)? I'm just trying to get my device back to 100% stock so that I can receive OTA.

Thank you for sharing that link. I think I get it but it seems too easy considering what I've tried so far. Just to make sure I get it:
I should download the odexed rom, go to twrp and wipe data, cache and dalvik then flash the odexed rom through the install function? And thats it? I've literally tried a ton of stuff so if this takes care of it, this is great!

This got me back to stock! You are the real MVP.
So I remember seeing a recovery.img file in the factory image that motorola posted on its site. Does it have to be a specific stock recovery or do I need a specific one to match with the file I just installed?
thanks again

So I'm on stock build 49-18-8 and flashed the recovery from 49-18-3. I went into fastboot and selected recovery. I got the android character with an !
I then did the power button and volume up and got into stock android recovery. Am I supposed to see the android character with ! each time I try to reach the recovery menu? Just wondering if I did this correctly.
Thanks again for pointing me to these resources!

Yes.
I have a Zenfone 3 that while trying to unroot I have soft bricked. I can get into TWRP recovery, but after installing the tizen ROM, I can not boot into it, but can still access the TWRP recovery. Is there a toolkit or any suggestion you might have as to how I could fix this issue.

Do you have an official recovery? If yes, you can recover back your device again. Just use 'adb sideload <filename>' to do this.
I've also trying to unroot my device and end up in boot logo, but after flash the official ROM, it's finally work again. Also my data (/data) isn't formatted.

TWRP supports adb sideload but there's no point flashing stock recovery, TWRP is superior in every way.
Go into TWRP, plug in your USB cable and it'll mount your sdcard . Copy the firmware onto the sdcard and install it. Perform a wipe cache/dalvik and reboot.
How are you removing root?

I used a app called KingRoot while I was on the bus, it caused the phone to freeze, after about 10 mins I hard reset the phone and it has not worked since.
I tried to sideload the stock rom, but it will not accept it. I think I may have something to do with the bootloader. I think my TWRP recovery could be in the Android partition, but I am unsure.

Forget sideloading it, edit the update script in the firmware, see this
thread, part 1, step 2-4.
Then copy the firmware to your sdcard (like I mentioned above) and install it. You can use the guide here, tip #4. You should read the entire guide afterwards.
if TWRP loads when you select recovery, it's on the correct partition. You'll have to reinstall TWRP after you flash the stock Rom again as it'll update recovery as well. Then create an nandroid backup, tip #2 and you're set.

Hy Wang.. I followed your guide - modified updater-script, but I can't install the stock rom .zip from TWRP.
It says "can't extract updater-binary", I tried few times thinking that the file is corrupt, but the result still same.
FYI, I use stock ROM "UL-ASUS_Z012D-WW-14.2020.1709.68-user.zip", and TWRP 3.1.1.
Please help me if you have experienced it before. Thanks
@rzahunn
I've never had that error before and you're on the latest version of TWRP so I'm going to guess it has to do with your modification of the updater script.
You edited updater-script not updater-binary, correct? There are two files with similar names
There's a detailed guide by @kyle_l88 on how to return to stock.
Here's the link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-3/development/how-to-to-stock-rom-recovery-zenfone-3-t3666223
Do note that the original recovery link is dead. The updated link is: https://mega.nz/#F!LIhwiCia!b_pyuHXS9E7f2VbyXcLyXA
TWRP Bootloop
Sorry if my reply is irrelevant, but I need some helps.
I am also using Zenfone 3, but stuck in TWRP bootloop.
I cannot flash using fastboot (not detected on PC), reflashing ROM doesn't help either.
I've tried all the possible methods I found on Google, such as dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota method but still has no luck.
Restoring backup would end me in TWRP too.
@Xytce
Are you factory resetting after you flash? Clearing cache and dalvik? It will take 5-10min to boot up initially after that.
Otherwise, try the guide Rizzed referenced.....as long as you have the correct firmware and TWRP flashes successfully, there's no reason it shouldn't work that I can think of.

I've managed to fix the bootloop after following the guide. I missed that somehow, thanks for pointing that to me.
I've thanked you (pressed the Thanks button).
