Has anyone heard anything about how Google or Samsung intend counter the KRACK bug in our Android tablets? Personally, because I only use my tablets when I'm "out and about", and often using public wifi spots, I *never* use them for anything sensitive. And my Linux and Windows boxes at home have already been patched. But I'll still be a lot more comfortable when I know my Android devices have also been patched.
My guess is that it just involves patching the wifi stack in Android. It shouldn't be that hard, since wpa_supplicant has already been fixed upstream. Google will no doubt fix this in their upcoming November security update. But how long that will take to make it to Samsung devices is anyone's guess. Samsung's track record here is not good. I wouldn't get my hopes up for a prompt a security upgrade for the Galaxy Tab A series.
The only temporary fix I know of is to route all traffic through a *trusted* VPN.

Well, maybe our prospects are better than I initially thought.
Here, according to CNET, is a quote from Samsung Mobile:
"As soon as we are notified of any potential vulnerabilities, we work closely to address those issues as quickly as possible. We are aware of this matter and will be rolling out patches to Samsung devices in the coming weeks."

I thought Mango was coming September 1. Haven't seen it yet. Will the Samsung Rogers Focus get an official release ? If yes please post here soon as you see availability.
Rumors are we will get to eat the fresh mangoes starting from Sept 15.

Keep your finger crossed.
The problem is with the f*&@* carriers. I haven't got the 7392 update on my AT&T.

Mmmmm...mmmmm Mangos are delicious !
ATT sucks on pushing the updates. I did not received 7092 either. I went straight to the betas and now I am running 7720, none of that from ATT. I guess ther Official from ATT may com eway after Sept 15.

You dont need 7092 to go to mango (and if I recall, Mango will have 7092 in it)
Well September 15th is come and gone... lol.. any sign of Mango out there for Rogers network ?
According to the person I spoke too at Rogers they haven't received the firmware from Samsung yet. It could still be a while.

I've "heard rumours" that Mango will be rolled out first week of October. Could it be that Mango will not need much carrier testing? The basic cell and data funtion isn't changing much, it's really features on the handset itself.
Hopefully Rogers won't be too far behind ATT...
http://www.businessinsider.com/windows-phone-mango-release-date-2011-9
"Mango, which includes a variety of great new features, will begin rolling out to AT&T Windows Phones on September 27th, Windows Phone Central reports."
"...and Samsung Focus (version 1.3) will be the first to get the update, "
Yes... makes me want to re-flash the phone to AT&T image !
Here is another story on the topic...
http://m.wpcentral.com/ATT-begins-mango-update-program-september-27th-full-details
And yes... let's hope that Rogers is not too far behind. I would think that Microsoft is positioning this to be ready well before Apple's iPhone5 launch. Let the games begin !
Im definitely highly excited for mango. More so than i was for froyo and gingerbread for android. And im even more excited to get my hands on the new samsung focus s
And it's confirmed... Apple will be showing the iPhone5 the first week of October with availability in USA 2 weeks later.
What's one to do... eat forbidden fruit or eat Mangos

Should be an easy call for you, as from your posts I see you have a Focus:
Free software with improvements vs shell out (at least) twice the price for Focus for the I_will _have_next_year_an_obsolete_Phone. Gimme 5... (partial pun intended)
hope mango for rogers will be rolling out with the rest
Have Mango, is absolutely awesome. Not sure if Rogers will roll out visual voicemail.

Oh ya.... I'll be eating Mangos since I am a Focus owner. I was wondering out loud about decisions that others may need to make.
And no Mangos for me to eat this morning. Sounds the same for AT&T users in the USA. I think I'm going back to my black rotary phone from 1970. Then there is no disappointments. I wonder when they came out with push button technology if there was this much hype then delay ?
Well, on the 'plus' side, the marketplace has been down since last nite, which could be a good sign that they are prepping for the update...
Well looks like we may have missed the boat...
I just shot off a tweet to @RogersHelp on twitter asking if they are rolling out Mango today... (September 27th)
I was shocked to receive this response...
"We need the manufacturer to first make it available to us for testing."
Can anyone confirm they are that behind????
well, I just got my first update with my new Focus that I bought just yesterday..
Its from Feb 2011. An update to enable better updates.. I can only hope this is a precursor to 7.5 coming in.. But Zune seems to have frozen and the phone is back in its regular state, tho it did default back to blue for some reason..

I want to troll hard to samsung because of ICS. They lost their best customer. 8-10 people brought samsung android devices because of me.
I will get a xiaomi mione or never android again. Microsoft releasing updates regulary. Stupid apple too.
And look gingerbread. Samsung cutted some properties from froyo to release gingerbread too. GPU drivers just sucks on gingerbread. There is no daily briefing now. Ram is smaller. Radio is mono. Why?
Now wifi drops problems (phone fc fixed new). Etc etc..
Now I can't make my phone working because of samsung. Cyanogenmod has small bugs which I need for now. Now what will I do with my powersgx540? I want to swear hard to samsung!
Why stupid xperias (even more and more and more and most bloated phones in market!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) gets ics?
If samsung was a man, so they must release a vanilla ics to their flagship phone! Just for respect to 20 million users!
AM I NEED TO BE MORE RICH THAN APPLE FANBOYS FOR USING LATEST ANDROID?
I´ve postet on Samsungs G+ Page ...

Is this some new update for the device?
Check this video from Samsung:
It's the official announcement of JB and all the new features. They called the enhancements they made to the OG Note "Premium Suite" also. Everything shown is in the German ROM some of us have been using. The fact this was posted to YouTube today means the official roll-out is close.
They've also created a micro-site for it...

What's in that video is new and was posted on YouTube today. This is the first mention of "Premium Suite" and for any detail provided publicly of what's actually in the Note's JB update.
Yes I have already highlighted that in my first post.
The second mention was a reply to your post that they have create a new microsite.
What they are essentially doing is rebranding Note and re launching it in a sorts with the New JB update to push it sales even more. The positive about the same is that is we may get upgraded to 4.2 in future

Also if you go on Sammobile you will find there are whole host of tablets which have received new updates so samsung is on a kind of upgrade spree

The shipping ROM didn't support exFAT so all the original marketing materials said 32GB. Updates changed that and 64GB is now supported. It's supported in the German ROM some of us have been using.
The video is uploaded on an old existing website and hence the confusion on specs but its shamefull how a big company like Samsung does not pay attention to small things like this
I'm starting to think this was a pre - black friday announcement to get the masses hyped. Now, if it pushes out in the next 3 days, I could be wrong'

I think you guys give Samsung far too much credit for premeditation. Between all the different regions and different groups involved in a single product their lucky to get stuff out the door at all. And 2/3 of their revenue is outside the U.S. where Black Friday is meaningless. I do think that the release of JB marketing and support materials means we're getting close though. Keep in mind with all the N8020 ROMs that were just leaked I'd imagine that product is going to be released shortly only on JB and those marketing materials are necessary to support it.

It appears that the Z3C has been discontinued on the Sony website (see the webpage's breadcrumb); Link
I wonder if they are going to release a Z3+ Compact soon, behind the Z3+ phone that was announced today? Link

Well, that's rather early for a flagship to be discontinued, I think?. It's only been out for 7 or 8 months.
---------- Post added at 11:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:43 PM ----------
However: there is no word of it being discontinued here: http://www.sonymobile.com/us/products/phones/xperia-z3-compact/
I don't think they will release any compact soon. HTC won't, Samsung did not release its s6 mini version, they might in some close future, but that future ain't looking bright for any compact phone. 5.0'' is a minimum for screen size these days, tho im having hard time to face it. Hope im wrong about Sony, as there are folks that are interested for phones sub 5''...

That is what I thought, the phone is not that old and it still has really good specs for the current market. Regarding the link you posted, if you click on the "Buy" button, it doesn't work, dead, at least for me. I am not sure what Sony has planned for their mobile market. I fear with the discontinued Z3C and the modest update for the new Z3+, they are either working on something grand, or slowly killing it off.

With all due respect and I don't mean it offensive at all, but I think that's total bs. If you look at the Xperia Z it came out more than 2 years ago and it received or will receive Android 5.0. So I think we're good for a while!
Sent from my D5803 using XDA Free mobile app
I think more it means : They dont produce it anymore. even for the Z2 the Production stopped 8 Month after the release (And its still in some Shops) as far i can remember some Posts on German Forums.
The complete Z-Line was or will be updated to Android 5.x. They will continue to Update...or the 5.x Update was the last for all Z,1,2,3 Modells.
Who knows, well i'm optimistic..and it wasnt the last Update.
Well the Z3+ gives and takes -- gives a waterproof USB port so that silly magnetic port can go away. And it takes away some battery capacity, which suggests consumers are more interested in a thinner device than better battery life. Bleh. Thankfully Sony did not jump on the pointless quad-HD bandwagon.
I hope the new features make it to a Z3c+, but I'm not holding my breath.
So I messaged Samsung support yesterday about the S7 and if it's getting Pie and One UI and they responded to me saying that the software devs are working on a Pie-based One UI update but they didn't give me an ETA. So far it looks kinda exciting.

Didn't somebody also say that samsung was working on a Oreo update for the Galaxy S6, but it was false information, because the supporter meant a security update and not a major firmware update. I mean, we already have several One UI ports here, the only people who would benefit are Snapdragon users.
Odd since I asked them yesterday and they said there are no updates confirmed

Aren't all of our Pie ROMs fundamentally based on Ivan Meler's LOS 16 beta, though? There simply isn't anyone else who was able or willing to reverse-engineer all of the drivers and take over the, apparently, messed-up device tree left over from LOS 14's last maintainer. The One UI "ports" add the Samsung libraries and SystemUI mods needed to make Samsung stock apps work, but below the application layer, everything I've seen so far is the same. That means that they all share the occasional hard reboot and memory leak issues with Magisk. The further they stray from the original LOS 16 beta, the less stable they get; Havoc for example is an undailyable huge mess with all of its customizable system apps. Some people say it works, but I suspect those are the same super-enthusiasts who've had a ROM of the week since the Gingerbread era, and they're just used enough to instability not to notice it.
The last official ROMs, and the SupermanROM/GalaxyProject stuff based on them, played nicer with Magisk and, if you still care in 2019, *a lot* nicer with Xposed. Never a reboot, not even once, as opposed to LOS 16 rebooting every 3rd or 4th time it connects to Android Auto (the Lockscreen to SmartLock handoff is at fault if I had to guess), and no negative performance impact. Even the N and O LOS ROMs were a lot better. I'd expect the same improved stability and moddability from a ROM ecosystem built around official Pie as we had with Oreo, which would be good for everyone whether Exynos or Snapdragon.
