Hi,
I've got a dual-sim Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935FD) this spring and everything was fine until a week ago my second SIM started to disappear randomly. Basically I wake up the phone after a while and I see no indications of the second SIM: no signal bars and "No SIM card in slot 2" message in settings. Rebooting the phone sometimes solves it for a while -- the second SIM becomes visible and works as expected but after a few hours it disappears again.
Things that I have tried so far:
wiping out cache partition
forcibly setting second sim to "2G only"
manually choosing mobile operators for both sim cards
swapping sim cards -- problematic sim card would still disappear after a while, now from slot 1.
putting the problematic sim card into another phone -- it works just fine, not disappearing at all.
factory reset
The issue still persists. Currently my first sim (the one which works well) is set to "auto (4g/3g/2g)", also mobile data goes through that card. My second sim (the problematic one) is set to "2g only", although setting to "auto (3g/2g)" gives same result.
My software:
Android 7.0
ROM: G935FXXU1DQEJ
Build: NRD90M.G935FXXU1DQGN
Would also mention that examining the phone logs via
Code:
adb logcat
while the card is invisible didn't reveal anything suspicious...
It appeared to be a bizarre SIM issue: after replacing the SIM I haven't seen such behavior for more than a month. It's weird that the SIM would fail sporadically and a reboot would fix it, also that it would happily work on other devices. Anyway, this is hopefully solved now.

As much as I love this phone, it has gone to complete ****.
First the loss of cellular data. Blamed that on the SD card, so whatever. Was able to get it to work for the last month or 2.
Then I could only get my text messages 10 at a time after a soft reset. Was fine with that for now. I was just hoping the update coming out in a couple weeks would fix that issue. Figured this was caused by the SD card too.
Then my WiFi decided to stop connecting to any wireless network. Again, thought this was caused by the SD card. I couldn't take it anymore so I took the battery out, the SD card out and the SIM card out. Put it all back in, started the phone back up, and nothing. All my info was still there, but couldn't connect to any cellular network (on AT&T), and couldn't connect to WiFi. So I thought, okay can't live with this, and I did a full restore.
Booted up after the restore and went through the initial setup, and son of a b-word...won't recognize the SIM card. So I removed the SD card and did another restore. Same thing, SIM card error. Took battery, SIM, etc out, put it all back in, did another restore, blah blah blah...nothing.
So I put my SIM card in my old iPhone 3G and it will connect to AT&T with 3G, but says I don't have a data connection (I'm guessing because I don't have the iPhone specific plan). So why the hell did my focus all of a sudden decide to not recognize any SIM card? I think I've had it with this phone. This is my 2nd one and it's been nothing but problems. I understand it's probably because of the SD card, but now with no SD card installed I am still having problems. I'm tired of it.
Might not be related, but since last week, I've also been experimenting SIM Card Errors. Usually after a soft reset it will fix it. But it's been happening a lot every day. Put the card in another phone and no problem. I dropped the phone 2" two weeks ago, but didn't get the issue right away. Strangely started happening too as Samsung came out with an update to their Network Profile app. Will try a hard reset, but not looking forward to it.
Phone is stock and not rooted.
This is extremely strange. I'm on Vodafone in the UK and I had installed the 7.0.1 update a few days ago. All was running fine.
Anyway, the Play Store issue had me confused, so instead of uninstalling updates, I decided to hard reset.
Did that and from that moment on the Sim card seems to have gone into a fit of turning itself off and on every 1-2 seconds.
I have reset a number of times and have now installed the 7.1.1 update, along with a hard reset and nothing has changed.
I have tried an EE Sim in the phone and this works fine. My voda sim I put in a Galaxy S 7 and that seemed fine too.
Yet when it is put back into my phone, it goes mad.
I only run one sim and have tried with SD Card in/out.
I am tempted to call it a faulty sim and go and get a new one, but thought I'd check here first.
Any experiences or ideas?
TIA
The plot thickens...a bit.
When I insert 2 vodafone sims, it works fine. Both sims are stable and I can make/receive calls as per normal.
As soon as I remove the one of the sims, it carries on as per usual constantly activating and deactivating sim.
Some more info...
Upon a hard reset the sim is stable and I can see data connection. I follow through the initial startup screen and skip as much as I can skip. Again, remains stable.
The last screen I get to is IZ location or something (can't remember) and asks whether you want to enable for h/w acceleration. I have tried this both on and off.
As soon as you click finish and it goes to the home screen for the first time, the sim immediately begins to fluctuate showing both signal bars empty, then one, then one with signal, then repeat.
Viewing from the dual sim settings page, you can see the sim activate, say it's vodafone, the disable as if it had been removed.
About as strange as it gets!!
Right, resolution in the hope that it helps someone else
After trying every conceivable way to sort this, it was time to downgrade.
Went back to B10 package from the German site:
http://www.ztemobile.de/support/downloads/?product_id=2100
Will install everything and upgrade to Nougat again...possibly!
Yep, just been through the exact same thing. I had to go back to b10, whatever you do don't factory reset in-between updates back to 7.1.1.
Don't do anything in fact, just upgrade.
I ended up losing my great battery life because of this, I wish I'd left alone.
Good luck.
Mike
Make sure you have OEM unlocking disabled in developer options. It was required to be on for the original sideoaded B10.

I was trying to look for discrepancies between the B10 6.0.1 and the 7.0.1 but there were too many.
I'm quite tentative about moving off MM to nougat after the shenanigans the other day.
I had a similar problem when I made the first upgrade to 7.0.
My primary (French Prixtel) SIM would turn on/off constantly - and was basically unusable... however a UK EE Sim was fine - when either run alone or in the 2nd SIM slot.
I tried my wife's Prixtel SIM in the A7 - it was fine ... tried my SIM in the wife's Honor 8 ... and it was fine ....!!
I tried downgrading back to MM B10 - my SIM still didn't work anymore - back to 7.0 .. the same.
Finally I reported my SIM to Prixtel as non-working - and they replaced it FoC ... and the new one works fine.... also after the recent upgrade to 7.1.1.

I tried multiple vodafone sims and had the same problem. Like you both Voda sims worked fine in other phones.
I would have gone the local Voda store, but they were...let's say 'challenging' to say the very least!
Good to know that other providers are affected too
You have this problem because you most likely have unlocked your bootloader. ZTE know about this problem, the only way to solve this is to go back to marshmallow, lock your bootloader then go back to the nougat build.
Just picked up one of these phones. Really like it so far! One issue I've noticed though, after a few days of ownership, it's randomly dropping/not detecting the sim card? It's happened at least twice where I've left it to charge over night and woke up to the no sim icon, and yesterday at some point while I was watching YouTube videos in full screen (in my hands, off charger, no notice of the drop either whenever it actually occurred). Quickly popping the sim tray out and in resolves the issue. At first I thought it was because I was using a manually cut sim card, so I've since replaced the sim but the problem persists.
Anyone else have this issue? Should I have the device exchanged?
Thanks
First the phone froze and after restart dropped sim
I just had the same issue occur just now. The phone had frozen for over an hour before I did a forced reset and now when it started back it shows no SIMCARD and no connectivity. I am like you, I really like this phone but hopefully this isn't a permanent issue.
Watched it happen just now. Goes from bars to no sim icon without error or notice. Resetting the network settings, resetting the phone, and powering it off/on won't fix it. Literally have to pop the sim in and out and its recognized right away.
I lost sim recognition after I flashed to LOS 11/30 and no matter what I tried, phone would not recognize the sim. Once I flashed back to stock, it came back. Hopefully this was due to the rom and the problem won't come back.
I am not sure if I lose the SIM, but I will say that when I am driving around with Android Auto, I constantly see the cell signal go from LTE to no signal every couple minutes...

Had same issues when I flashed back to stock I actually have better signal than when I got it out of the box.... Almost as if the software wasn't installed correctly or something
Same here I'm on the stock room. I'm wondering if it is an app I downloaded. Any idea how to wipe cashe not the apps but system.
This is happening at least twice a day now. It seems to be software related. Power off and on without taking out sim fixes it.
My ATT S4 broke (just went dead and could no longer be started up despite trying different batteries--I hadn't change/flash anything. If I take off the battery and plug it in, on occasion it would show the bootloader for a few seconds but shutdown right after). Anyway, I have a T-Mobile international i9500 version lying around. I installed LineageOS on it and put in my SIM card. Data works (but no LTE because i9500 doesn't support it) and everything is fine, except the time/timezone is off by a few hours and is wonky.
On my ATT S4, I've always enabled using network time and network time zone without issues. I want to use these settings on the T-Mobile version as well for time accuracy and auto-account for daylight savings (does disabling network time and manually choosing the appropriate time zone also auto-account for daylight savings)?
If I enable both network time and time zones, it will most likely result in the time off by a few hours. Even if it's initially correct (which is rarely), it appears to change back to being off by a few hours. I also tried restarting the phone. I wish I'm getting consistent results--only thing that is consistent is that the time/timezone is off.
I'm not sure if this has to do with APN settings and/or ATT SIM card that works with LTE and is now having trouble on a phone that doesn't have LTE.
Any help is much appreciated.
so my simcard on my phone suddenly doesn't work (it says invalid sim) after a while. it always work when I restarted the device. but it's kinda annoying to restart every period of time. I've tried suggestions from the net but nothing seems working. I've also tried switching sim on the same provider but the issue persist. do you guys have any suggestions?
