Hey, I've been using Samsung stock camera since the start and the thing is I don't get regular updates for it even though new updates are out.
I'm on 7.1.16 version. I downloaded the latest version of the stock camera and installed it manually using apk and now the front camera doesn't work it just freezes.
So if anyone can point be out the best camera build/version out there for the S8 it would be very grateful.

Are you sure is was for the s8 and not for note 8

hi im using AOKP rom for our LG G2, and later installed one plus one camera for AOSP and deleted the stock AOSP camera. but im having issues with the installed camera, FC on HDR mode. so iwant to go back to the stock but have no backup. instead i want to install a better camera if ever there was. thank you if ever someone replies
try google camera from google play its the new updated google camera

The camera on my stock Jiayu S3 randomly stopped working a few days ago. It said that the gallery wasn't responding so I rebooted and still no joy. I could run the gallery fine so was a bit confused. I installed google camera and it says camera not responding when I run it.
I flashed a different ROM on it and I'm still getting the same problem. I opened it up to check if anything was loose but looks ok but still no joy. Any thoughts?

same here.. front camera is working in skype, rear camera not working. Not sure if it has something to do with app updates or me dropping the phone. factory reset did not help.

Flash latest marshmallow rom ... it should be stable enough to have a stable camera.
Android 7.1.2 roms may not be as stable as marshmallow , but you can still try them , and only the latest every time. Better be checking here on xda for the latest updates ..
YOu can also try other camera apps from the place store . One of them , e.g open camera should be able to work

I am a photography enthusiast, but months after buying the phone, I realized that IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY SETTINGS FOR ADJUSTING THE SHUTTER SPEED OF CAMERA, or MANUAL FOCUS, etc.
I read somewhere that various camera controls are not present because Samsung do not use camera2API in their source code.
How can I solve this thing?? I tried N number of apps which offer manual controls, but none of them worked.
I am thinking about rooting the device and go for any CM ROM, but don't know whether changing the ROM will help or not.
Need help to use this feature on my Galaxy A7. If it is possible on stock ROM somehow, it would be better. But if it is possible using any other ROM, do let me know.

I'm still using my rooted stock Note 3 (kitkat), but am running into more and more apps that can't be installed.
I've tried out a couple of ROMs (Phronesis, Lineage), but the camera doesn't work right on those. Blurry in general, and focus is off.
I use the camera all the time and need it to take sharp photos.
Is there a ROM out there that has the camera working well or is it time to give up on the Note 3?
Samsung TW roms camera should work well .
Have you tried installing apps when using a stock Samsung 5.01 ROM?
Hello I updated my g6 to Android pie and now the camera app will not open. It just crashes. I did a hard reset but still no go. It also won't let me use the camera in any apps or messages. I have tried to download other camera apps but no go either. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!
can you turn flash on ? what about vibrator (a commun issue with G6) ?
i'm having kind of the same problem, the camera doesn't work on Oreo stock but on other costum roms. the vibrator in the other hand seems to be broken, it might causes issues on stock roms, besides the camera flash and other sinsors are down :/
I also have problem with camera after coming back to stock pie. I'll try to flash custom ROM again to check if camera software is broken completely and the thing that installing custom ROMs destroys stock camera software or something...
