My SM-G900v is running on Lineage OS with root. I've installed the lasted version of GAPPS but I want a better camera app instead of using the Google Camera app. Something can I can record videos at 60fps. When I first installed Lineage OS without GAPPS CyanogenMod's camera app felt smooth with no lag. Felt like 60fps when recording videos. Any suggestions?

The following app has been mentioned before for obtaining CyanogenMod apps.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maartendekkers.cmapp
I've never tried it myself but, you may be able to obtain the CM camera app from there.
Good Luck!

CM camera is ok with the settings but video and photo frame rate is the same. Maybe adjusting the shutter speed or gyroscope in the files may work. But I'm not sure how to do that.

Have you ever tried to extract the camera apk file from the last CyanogenMod ROM the camera last worked for you?
I'm not completely sure if that's the case entirely but, I'm just thinking that not all the camera apps were the same for all devices.
It's been a long time since I had extracted an app from a ROM but, I do remember that it's not hard to do.
I know that i had done this on the PC...
On the PC, I had used 7-Zip (that's free) and decompressed the ROM in a Folder. I then just performed a search for the app name, in your case i would search for "Camera" or just "*.apk", and one of the results should reflect the camera app.
This is just a suggestion and I can't guarantee that it will work but, worth a try.
Good Luck!

I never tried extracting the camera APK. You're probably right. Not all camera apps work the same. And I don't think extracting the ROM will work either. I'll see if I can look further into the forums about slow shutter speed in low light. Adjusting the ISO works a little bit. But I want something with zero shutter lag.
I like the stock Samsung Marshmallow camera quite a bit. I'm guessing that's out there somewhere.

Is it just me or has anyone noticed that the photos taken with the default camera app is a little skewed at the edges?
The camera is great for macro shots but when shots are taken from a distance, I can't help but notice that the subjects on the edges get distorted or stretched.
It would be nice if we shared our experiences on this. After all, this phone was touted to have the best camera at the time of the launch.
Thanks.

I feel this may be a hardware issue and not just a software glitch as I have noticed the same distortions with the in-built Charm Cam App. It could possibly have something to do with the lens alignments or maybe it's just an isolated case with my phone. But I have no means to verify my allegations as I don't have another phone to carry out comparisons.
In any case, I request other owners to please share your findings with regards to the image quality on this camera.

The primary reason i found for noise is that iso gets too high in auto mode.it might just be software issue. But we dont have other phone with same hardware(OV 16825)
Since kernal sources are avilable i hope they provide some light
Also as the camera is capable of [email protected] 60fps i would like if some dev removes this constrain of [email protected]

I took a 1080p video and found no distortion along edges this in theory proves it is not due to hardware problem i.e. lens alingment

bt a running cm11 opens the door for many custom roms like PAC, AOKP,Carbon,MIUI etc etc
Hi,
So i recently got a s5 and unfortunately the slow motion feature on the s5 camera is not in the same level of functionality as its compitotors, like the z2 or m8 (and iphone 5s). I wanted the ability to record the video at the higer fps and then edit which part i wanted in slow motion.
The m8 does this, although cuts the sound (which im actually fine with), and the z2 also does this but keeping the sound and slowing it down also.
So my question or request is: Is there a app, mod or the possibility of one, or even a port of the z2 camera recording( i have seen some features of xperia cameras imported, but not this one), that will do this on the s5?
A user here on the forum suggested to me the app reAction, which does have the slow down effect, but it doesn't slow down a lot and not in the speed that i would like.
Thank you!
No one? :/ what i wanted basicly is an app that records 120fps but can also play it back at regular speed or that doesnt process it to slow down and so i can at least do that in the computer (i guess this is more of a question than request). Or maybe a way to do this with the samsung camera app and a mod, because its in the app that the slow down is made after shooting from what i understood.
What i would really like is a port of the z2 camera or to functions like it or even the m8 that lets you edit. the speeds after. Is a port of any of those possible at all?
Same here. I'm looking for that kind of app. Nothing found yet
I actually just found an app today that it kinda does this, but at the same time it doesnt.
Its called kinemaster and its a video editor that lets you edit the speed of the video and select/make cuts on the video and then slow does down. Problem is that it can only do that with videos of 30fps, even if you have a higher fps video it either wont read it or just give you a message that will scale it down to 30fps. The end result isn't bad but its not really the same thing.
Also, the app is free on the play store and they used to have a paid and free version but now switched to free version but with a subscription a month and what that will do is remove the water marker that the app puts on the corner of the video in the free version. So, it kinda does it but at the same time it doesnt.
It would be much better for the end result to just have a app that would either edit or record it with higher fps and then we can edit that file on the phone. Something like the iphone 5s, or even in the android world the m8 and z2 do(z2 even keeps the sound and slows it down also, but if we could get this even without sound would be great).
The one I found, that of course is not same as having the port from Z2 that it's much easier and faster, is AndroidStudio. Check it out. I always use this one to slow/fast parts of any video
Thanks for the suggestion! I tried it and its indeed easier to select which part is slowed down and it doesn't give that watermark on the videos.
Still not the same as on devices like z2 or m8 (not to mention iphone), but at least is something. I have been looking online, especially on xda which is more reliable, to see if there is a port of the feature of any of these, especially the m8 since some apps were already ported, but no luck.
We would probably need both the camera app and gallery of the m8. From the z2 i think just the camera would be enough since from what i have seen that edit is done there after recording.
I still don't get why Samsung, from all brands with so much features and gimmicks, would just give a video editor or something to edit 120fps to slow down some parts.
Yes, totally. I hope they realize this and they make it. If you have any news about the M8 let me know.
We need to get a huge thread going to get attention
There is a thread in the Note 4 app section where a dev was able to vastly improve the quality of the stock Note 4 app. The software is already there in this time-shift app, all we need is a dev or a few to get into it and get it working. I'm not sure where we would get the most attention but if enough of us get together and request this feature somebody has to take notice. I'm willing to start a bounty and add 100 bucks to it. Here is my thread below, if you guys want to add your support that would be great or if anyone else has an idea of a better way to get some attention I'm all ears.

I've been doing a lot of testing comparing photos taken on Touchwiz and photos taken on CM and the end result is that basically , photos taken with Snap camera on CM12 seem to look just as good as those taken on samsung camera app on a touchwiz Rom.
However, every app I try for CM12 seems to have a slow burst rate ( around 1 per second) when in burst mode.
e.g.
+Snap camera on touchwiz seems to take burst photos at the same speed as samsung camera app. ( 5+ frames per second-ish!?)
+Snap camera on CM12 burst mode can only take photos at around 1 frame per second.
Is this something that can be tweaked in the CM rom, or is it a limitation of the camera driver available to CM?
Hmm noone knows anything? no reply here and no reply when I asked in CM dev threads either.

Sorry I'm wont be of any help but I too am looking for answer to this. Its the one last thing I need on a CM12 ROM. I'm trying to figure out if its an app or ROM issue. I suspect it comes down to the camera hal on CM12 that needs changing. I've been trying to search the net for answers but your post is as close as I have come to finding an answer. I am thinking of looking at CM12 source code to see if there are any answers there. Currently I have tried ported Oppo camera and ColorOS cameras for OnePlus One phones. They can take pics super fast and look to be the answer until I try burst mode and then its just sits a 1 photo taken and wont "burst" so to speak.
If you have found out any more info on the matter since your original posting please let me know and in return I will post what I find.
Here is what I have been trying so far. Better than anything I find in the Play store.

I didn't have any joy i'm afraid. I bored of asking and being ignored!
Previous versions of CM seemed to have faster burst which suggested to me it was a ROM issue but there seems to be zero information on it.

Hi! I'm the dev of ProShot. Feel free to ask any questions
To answer yours:
1) No limitations (except for exposure compensation, Google sadly removed that from the Nexus line earlier this year)
2) Working on a bug fix for the upside-down-oriented image sensor. Hope to have that live by the end of the day
I've been using it since it was featured on phonearena. Its a nice full featured app. I just don't think the 6p camera has lived up to the hype for me.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
i downloaded the demo, looks pretty neat. Much more easier to use than Manual Camera. Planning to buy soon!
Hi,
Is there a way to lock the white balance and the focus? Cause I found a little bit annoying when the app is changing the WB all the time during the capturing process.
Thanks!
I have it, but wish there was HDR. Without it I don't use it since it makes a big difference.
No, HDR on Proshot?
Well I hope not.
Leave HDR and any such post processing for Lightroom,CaptureOne,Darktable,Aftershot, (maybe even the not-so-optimal Photoshop) etc... the source file for those programs should be as clean as possible second to the data that went out from the camera sensor. Thats the whole point of any RAW format, that it leaves room for more post processing.
If you need to do instant HDR within there are plenty of apps that does all the "cooking" into a fine ready-to-go JPEG.
Anyway, would be nice to se a sale campaign on this, I just fell on this thread accidentally.
how to quick reset?
Hi all,
I'm going to install a custom ROM but wanted to ask a few questions first.
What's the deal with the camera? Camera quality is important to me and I've heard that custom ROMs can degrade the camera performance. What exactly happens? I don't think much of the stock camera app and so use Snap Camera instead as it has the ability to turn off noise-reduction and has way more features.
Will there be any difference using Snap on a custom ROM. Does HDR still work well?
More generally, what ROMs are good in terms of being bug free, smooth and recent Android version (7+).
Thanks
Oh, and if anyone could point me in the direction of a good guide for initial rooting and custom recovery for the 900F that would be super! :good:

Man, for me, the performance of Snap camera is better than stock, I was fear of the same, camera quality, but for me HDR and noise-reduction is much better than samsung's camera. Now I can't barely use stock roms without Snap, or Mi A2 Magisk module. It just don't have so many functions like stock one, but I don't mind for it.

Here, just make sure you're downloading files for your phone model, you can see it in "About the phone" on settings of your phone, thanks for who made that guide of the link
For the camera just use snap camera (default LineageOS app) and this mod https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-15-1-camera-supporting-60fps-120fps-t3809145
Also, for rooting G900F you just need to flash TWRP using odin and then the desired root solution, (i would recomend latest magisk)
Thanks both.
I've been using my phone on CrDroid first, then Mokee for about a week now and I think the camera is just fine.
I have done some comparison shots and there seems to be no difference between Snap Cam on stock and Snap Cam on custom rom.
The few differences I have found are in the denoising process. If you like denoising (and I don't), then the stock TouchWiz camera does a much better job of resolving detail and contrast than Snap Cam or the in built camera app of CrDroid or Mokee does. Denoising is pretty bad. However, I have recently installed Google Camera on Mokee and that seems to do a pretty good job with denoising. Alternatively you could just use an app like Snapseed to denoise photos you think need it, and get much better results.
