You're busy and don't have time to wait, which is why you need to stop reading this thread and get back to organizing your Pogs. Rate this thread to express how the Huawei Mate 10 performs when multitasking. A higher rating indicates that the Huawei Mate 10 keeps many apps in memory so that they don't need to reload, and that when moving between apps, transitions are smooth and performance is excellent.

RAM management is a nightmare and much worse than with the Mate 9 where I had zero problems with Adguard and Garmin Connect. With the Mate 10 Pro bot apps are kicked out of memory all the time and make my Fenix 5 pretty much useless, same for my lifetime Adguard license.
1 star only for me.

with 6 GB of ram the multitasking is so bad still on Mate? Do you have tried to see if in battery menu there are options for this problem?
No problem here for multitasking.
Got a similar issue... after 1 day the ram usage keeps going up (android system) causing the software to stutter when multitasking. No idea why :/

Same firmware here.
Looks like I'm affected by the same problem, see my post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/help/memory-leak-ram-usage-increasing-till-t3754069. Any solution yet?

I just bought 5t and mate 10, it is not Mate 10 problems it is OrEO, on 5t it does the same BS. It's just 5t has 8gb ram and my Mate 10 has only 6gb. I found a way so OrEO will not close app on the back ground, go to settings, battery, launch and turn off all the app you want to run on the background. That is the only way. I bought the 5t because of this app management on the Mate 10, only to found out it is OrEO is the problem. So returning 5t now.

Oreo may have it's own issues but Huawei introduced a new dimension by aggressively keeping their 6GB's as empty as possible. Many apps are flagged, by the Huawei (Emui) memory management, as 'power intensive' and the Chinese phone manufacturers don't like that. Luckily you can do something about it. Under settings -> special access -> ignore battery optimization you can allow apps to be ignored which keeps some of them in memory but others not. Adguard for example is not running nicely anymore and the Adguard devs are trying to solve this for months now. No luck so far.
So this is NOT an android problem but Huawei's. And they should do something about it...

I think this is a separate issue... my RAM gets flooded after just 2 days and it gets unusable.
6 gb ram in mate 10 pro is still not up to my expectation. i think mate 10 pro can't even survive if i use app twin
Since I'm an exclusive Huawei user for 5 years now, ( I used mediapad x1, honor 4c, mate 8, nova plus, and now the mate 10)
Yes, ram management is the worst thing about Huawei devices no matter how hard you try to disable all protection settings, IT WILL KEEP KILLING YOUR APPS.
MY walking dead road to survival always reload it's data no matter what.
Does not kill any apps for me, nothing changed also. No issues with running multiple apps at a time, don't even feel it.
Probably because I don't have many apps, around 25 or 30...
I have an uptime of 557h (just over 22 days) and I have yet to fill the 6GB once. The lowest I've ever gone was 1.98GB free. Even Chrome with 15+ tabs in the background is no problem. Just set your apps up correctly so they don't get killed by battery optimization.
After using the Huawei mate 10 for 2 weeks now I can say this
DON'T BUY THIS PHONE
for a flagship with a flagship price you'd expect much much better performance, apps takes seconds to open, animations are slow stutters like hell even after setting the animation to 0.5
I never felt I gained any speed bump from my 2 years old mate 8.
In short it's a ****ty deal to buy the Huawei mate 10.

Probably one of the best phones for multitasking. I can easily switch from every app in about a milliseconds. I only have one minor issue with Instagram, and the problem is when im switching through apps Instagram remove itself from RAM, so its drains battery with every time i go to app.
No problem for me, i just let android manage ram, rather than huawei's own management. Just go to launch management, select manual, tick all.
Only vpn need to be set not optimised in android apps setting.
In my country, set ipv4 in apn shud do the trick for a bit lagging of internet, for example opening sites in browser.

In april i purchased a huawei mate 8 nxt-l29. Definitely a step up from a galaxy s5 like 1000 steps up. One of the best devices ive ever used. Recently earlier today as of writing this, i switched from the huawei mate 8 on metropcs to the samsung galaxy s7 on sprint network. It took me a grand total of 2 hours of owning the s7 to hate the hell out of it. Without even installing any of my own apps i use commonly, like steam or firefox or setting up any of the apps on there. I returned the thing for the first time because it overheated in the settings menu and shut off three times. I went back to sprint immediately and exchanged it for a fresh s7 sitting next to me now, doing nothing, screen off, overheating as i type. There are no downloads queued, setup is complete, it should be idling right now. But no, it is constantly hot to the touch.
The main reason i hate it are as follows:
1. Heat
2. Lag
3. Freezes
4. Slow
5. Unresponsive
6. Millions of apps i cannot disable.
The first reason being heat is why this thing is awful. My mate 8 never heats up when idling, in fact, ive never caught my mate 8 above 55C and my mate 8 idles at around 29-32C. This thing idles at 63C and heats up to 72C. It does not stop doing random crap. even after disabling everything and turning on the performance inhibiting mode, still stuck at high temperatures, screen off, left alone for enoguh time to idle.
Next, the lag is unbearable. In proprietary menus, such as the entirety of the settings app, there are microstutters to complete freezes. Theres so much buffering done with this phone, having come straight from the mate 8, this is unacceptable.
Compared to my mate 8 I tested installing facebook, instagram, steam and one of those massive games with downloads in app, this one being Dungeon Hunter 5.
I want to disable a system app: App list laod time 10 seconds
i click on the system app i want to disable: ( google drive) load time 3 seconds
i want to click disable and confirm i want it disabled (google drive) Load time: 5 seconds.
Uninstall proprietary sprint app: Load time 4 seconds, Uninstall time 15-20 seconds.
Uninstalling dungeon Hunter 5: Load time: 1st effort froze the phone, second time also froze, third time it worked but took a whopping 73 seconds.
Compared to my s7 I tested installing facebook, instagram, steam and one of those massive games with downloads in app, this one being Dungeon Hunter 5.
Open settings: Load time 1 second
Open apps: App list load time 2 seconds
Click on app i want to disable (google drive) : Load time less than 1 second. .63 seconds to be exact.
Disabling app (google drive): Load time less than 1 second. .57 to be exact
Uninstalling Dungeon hunter 5: Load time 3 seconds
Galaxy s7 first day: First S7 froze 3 times with massive microstutters, second S7 after swapping has frozen twice. Force restart was the only fix.
Mate 8: Has frozen once, but it was my fault. Never has frozen without it not being my fault.
Sidenote: If my S7 freezes on not just day 1 but hour 1 it cannot be my fault yet. Im just trying to load my apps on there at that point.
Compared to my mate 8 the galaxy s7 is much slower at opening apps and navigating through its own menus.
My Mate 8's settings menu is quick and speedy, it takes longer to start a stopwatch timer than it takes to load a menu in the mate 8 settings app.
The S7 you cant just throw the stopwatch away. It's too slow to navigate and even makes me feel like the settings screen has frozen when trying to load my apps list, scan for wifi, open the developer options menu and almost freezes when im at the apps list menu and load the system apps.
Unresponsiveness is never a problem on the mate 8 actually.
Galaxy S7 however has not responded in multiple areas. Screen taps missed, fingerprint scanner doesnt work sometimes and is also extremely picky you have to be DIRECTLY on that button. Not off by a single hair for that scanner to work. The response time on the screen is actually 6 times longer than the mate 8 too. 5ms on the mate 8, 30ms on s7.
The mate 8 being internationally unlocked at purchase only has google apps loaded on it. The s7 being a carrier phone from sprint has 6 sprint apps on it and a billion other things i hate. I don't like sports myself so having to spend forever getting all 10 sports apps off the thing is a pain. Especially since 3 of them cannot be removed, only disabled, thus eating up storage, 42MB 33MB and 16MB. Nothing too bad but still annoying. The thing also comes loaded with samsung's useless app list of about 10 or something apps. Most of which cannot be disabled or uninstalled such as samsung push. The rest is just.... other junk i dont use but found shocking to see on here. Facebook is now preloaded and untouchable. Cannot be uninstalled only disabled. I use a web browser personally because it saves battery and you dont need the messenger app either. Uber being useless because i own my own vehicle was also preloaded, but i could uninstall that. Other than the radio app, i couldnt uninstall only disable some apps. And the phone being only 32 gigs of storage on its onboard memory was eating up already 10 gigs of storage. with 22 left usable for me.
Other things id like to pick at are the screen. I cannot tell the difference between this phone's screen and the mate 8's. The fidelity is no better in comparison. Colors are slightly more vivid, but not enough to overlook this phone's numerous problems. Couldn't even use google maps to navigate home on the S7 from the sprint store due to the heat.
TL;DR
Doesn't compare to the smartphone king that is the mate 8. Feels more like a toy that burns your hand and pockets off. I guess thats why its waterproof so it can be cooled in your soft drink at dinner time. Very slow, very laggy, very unresponsive in comparison. I suppose it would be acceptable if it turns out i didnt have a better user experience. Im glad sprint offers refunds on their service because this phone is quite terrible. Sprint is too. Less than 1MBPS on their unlimited data plan. Rockin speed dude.
Man I can imagine pretty well what you're talking about. Before the mate 8 I used to own a Xperia Z5 (my brother has it now)... That SoC is burning almost all the time and is a quite annoying
Not a fanboy here but is in fact a shame all Samsung flagships still suffers from lags (and explosions too lol)
SD810 was an amazing heater that didn't burn anyone's pants but surely it burnt everyone's pockets
Yea, i forgot to mention that the phones ram management was awful. With the proprietary software running all at the same time i had a whopping 1.1 gigs of ram to use for my personal apps. It was a disgrace. 750 dollars for a POS like that. They should pay me to take it.
Just wanna say tho. The screen is the downfall of the phone. That was my first 2k screen device and wow. Battery drainer problem raiser there. It couldnt run tiny tower wothout lagging. My mate 8 was soaring through it. I will now avoid snapdragon and samsung. I own zero samsung products. Even the ssd in my pc is Sandisk. Samsung needs to stop. Ive had two of their phones and hated both. S5 and S7 both sucked. Heat issues and battery problems. Disappointing. Camt wait to get my money back. Also dont switch to Sprint my god was it bad. 1mbps download speed average.
Got SGS Note 4, you can find my topic also on the forum why I switched between them. Fuk samsung, never ever again
wow, after reading through this thread i feel VERY lucky coming from a nexus 5 and switching to a mate 8, happy on both counts!

Its nice to hear people have the same experiences. Usually when i write fully thought out reviews with high detail i get ridiculed. Thanks for taking time to read this stuff so far guys. Appreciate it a lot
I had a Note 2 which I used for almost 3 years, until a year and half back. I then tried a windows phone, then 2 mid range budget phones. Also tried a borrowed Samsung galaxy for few days. Coming from something like Note 2, you dont have too many choices that will make you feel like it is an upgrade. Now got the mate 8, and it is here to stay like my Note 2! I really don't see many phones out today, there which will give you an upgrade impression from this one.
I glad that I got the Mate 8. It leaves almost everything else behind.
The battery is amazing, I have been using like crazy all day and night, and i recharge only next day! Easily 8+ hrs SOT, I charge before 20%.
They have really optimized this one for good battery. I am now attempting to take battery management to the next level by bringing the protected app list to almost zero, and using tasker in parallel to keep the notifications coming in 15-30m intervals.
The Mate 9 is apparently 20% more battery efficient with its more power Mali GPU. Thank god we ditch the mid range Mali T-880 for what power the Mali G71 MP8 can withold. According to their spec reveal the CPU itself is also 15% more efficient. The display will continue to be 1080p i suppose. Some of these shots display benchmarks performed at the 1080 resolution. I honestly do not believe a 2560x1440 screen res is worth it on a 6 inch screen. More like 60 inch. Cant wait for that upgrade. Hopefully its as smooth as this.
Wow, sucks to have your experience :/
I had no problems with my €150 Galaxy Ace 2 thanks to some great roms. I didn't stay long on stock.
My wife just moved back to Iphone after using a Note 4. She doesn't want any android again (even if I try to convince her samsung =/= android). But we are both enjoying my Honor 8 now.
Glad you guys still enjoy the mate 8 especially compared to other high end devices. Gives me good hopes about my Honor 8
We'll be loving thr mate 9 sure enough. Makes me want to get my hands dirty and hop in the kitchen to cook up roms for the mate 9 when it drops
I used to own a samsung galaxy mega 6.3 inch, first phablet and a good one...and the only samsung device i am positive about.
From that point i went to a huawei P7 wich was a good and nice phone when it was released, but after a year or so it already lost the game so i upgraded to a huawei P8 combined with a huawei mediapad M2 10.0 when the tablet was released, both outstanding devices but the P8 was stolen at a festival so i bought a Mate 8 and i really love it.
Now owning the M2 tab, Mate 8 and a Nexus 5x, all great devices.
I had a few samsung devices, and friends and family too... From my expierence compared to other devices, touchwiz was unstable, all kind of dumb bugs, low quality battery wich dies fast (i saw it in the battery life and charge time), all apps they bring that no one uses lol. The only positive samsung had was the camera (wich in this time is no more cause of the other OEMs), and the ability and available support of mods and roms... This is one of the big reasons people on xda bought a samsung. Its a shame that samsung gets so ****ty these days, but they have always been ****ty if you think about it..
I dont even want to buy a washing maschine or a fridge from samsung lol, i know that thing will fail on me in less then 2 years.

Hi Guys,
Greetings from Japan.
Change my smartphone regularly as I love gadgets and technology.
Daily drivers have included Galaxy Note 3, 5, A9 Pro, and most recently S7 Edge.
Have also owned, Xperia Z3, Z5 Premium, LG G3, G4, V10, V20, Blackberry Passport, Priv, Nexus 6P, Huawei Mate 7, P9, iPhone 6S Plus
Lots of people picking up the new Galaxy S8+ now which I considered along with the LG G6.
Been enamored with the MIX since I first saw it last year.
Price of the 6gb 256gb model came all the way down under 70,000 yen which is cheaper than both the the LG and S8+ (by a lot vs the Galaxy) so I jumped on it.
Few first impressions after a few days of it replacing my S7 Edge.
- Beautiful phone. Please note I love big phones. The finish and style is superb. As many have noted though, slipperiest phone I have ever used.
- Screen size is immersive and the screen to body ratio just awesome. I actually feel the S8+ screen is a bit to narrow and I like the resolution of the MIX. However, one negative is (and this is my personal taste), I find the colors not as punchy as I'm used to with the Amoled screens. I don't find the color accuracy as good as other high end phones. (no official testing, just by eye).
- Games and multimedia on this phone are amazing.
- Very surprised at the plug in sound quality. Currently use a Onkyo DP-X1 digital audio player which is in my opinion one of the best DAP's out there. To compare, the MIX is as powerful and the quality is much better than any Samsung phone. I don't have my LG phones on hand to compare directly anymore but I'd say its maybe a step below the DAC's on the V10 and V20. Compared to the DP-X1, slightly less clean, less punch on the low end, and a narrower sound stage but the DP-X1 will blow away any phone. Phone wise, I would not hesitate to plug in my Sony MDR-1A or Audio Technica MSR7.
- Sorry, I'll say it, camera is terrible. Many of the phones I owned in the past had amazing cameras. This does not. I think enough has been discussed on this so I'll leave it at that.
- I can't comment much on the MIUI skin/system launcher. After a few hours I threw on Nova Launcher. There are bugs with MIUI that I experienced as follows:
- Double knock to wake does not work after the phone has been sleeping for longer periods of time. If I shut the screen off and double tap within a few minutes it wakes the phone
but if I do it after say 20 minutes, it will not and I need to press the power button to wake.
- Notifications were hit and miss at the beginning. Was strangely unreliable as there were times the phone was locked and no notifications came through. I turned off a bunch of
MIUI optimizations and now they "seem" to work but will monitor.
- Speaking of notifications, when do not disturb is turned on, messages like LINE Messenger are not silenced, even I have I set to silence all with NO exceptions.
- The auto brightness performance is slow/poor. Turned it off and manually adjust brightness for now.
- I've allowed the dock to be hidden but sometimes really hard to swipe away in certain apps.
- Had to redo default apps several times as they kept getting reset.
- Setting wallpapers seems more difficult than it has to be whether it be in MIUI or Nova (which is even more buggy in this setup for wallpapers).
- Clock widgets don't work. Time does not reflect phone time (stands still) - this could be a Nova thing with MIUI.
- I've played around with the memory management and it seems MIUI does a poor job at it. When I have no apps running/open there are times the system memory and apps running
in background use up over 2gb - luckily this phone has 6gb. This worsens over time and is cleared with a restart.
- Seems like when phone goes to sleep it was no longer connected to wifi. I had to turn on the option to leave wifi and data on (Switch between Data and Wifi option) which
appears to fix this.
- and other things that are probably minor that I don't remember.
In general I love the phone for its design and hardware (except for the camera). In my opinion if it had an Amoled screen, a better, at least decent camera, and at least addressed some of the basic bugs (no matter how beautiful a phone is if notifications don't work out of the box... its unacceptable), this phone would be untouchable.
Of course some of the bugs could be just user error so feel free to point me in the right direction if this is the case.
Also I have rooted and flashed some of my devices in the past with custom roms. Let me know if you think flashing to another rom would solve some issues.
Should note the Rom it came with is MIUI Global 8.2 | Stable 8.2.1.0 (MAHMIDL).
Thanks for reading.
I share a lot of your frustrations, then I installed Epic rom. It's a totally different beast. I highly recommend it.

Greetings from Bangkok
Are you aware, that an operating system using more RAM doesn't mean bad RAM management at all?
Here's a very good ELI5 (Explain like I'm 5) explanation of the misunderstanding:
"So, imagine you have a store full of books. Most of the books are in storage. So when someone walks in and says "I want Book Y" you walk to the storage, get up on a ladder, grab Book Y and go back and give it to them.
Then the next 10 customers walk in and ask for Book Y, and one customer asks for Book L. So you're smart and instead of continuing to go back to storage and grabbing Book Y 10 times you just grab a bunch of Book Y once and keep a bunch on a small shelf nearby. You still get stuck grabbing Book L from storage because it's less common so you weren't ready. But at least when people ask for Book Y you don't have to go to storage.
This is obviously a better system. You can be faster at selling because a bunch of Book Y is on a nearby shelf and people keep asking for Book Y. No need to go to storage except for sometimes.
Now imagine some asshole comes in and takes all of the books off that nearby shelf every single ****ing time you stock it up. Literally you HAVE to walk all the way to storage every time because of this idiot. This guy claims he's helping to "keep your shelf clean". Meanwhile you're TRYING to use that shelf to store best-seller books.
That idiot is a RAM cleaner. Don't hire that idiot."
And here the real, fairly more technical explanation:
"On Windows, you want to keep as much RAM available as you can so that programs have enough room to operate. When RAM fills up, Windows is forced to start using hard drive space as virtual RAM and hard drives are much slower than physical RAM.
This is not true for Android.
Android’s operating system has its own native handler for assigning RAM to apps and making sure that all of it is being used in the most optimal way. In fact, Android purposely tries to keep apps loaded into RAM for better performance. RAM is fast, remember? On mobile devices, every bit of speed is critical for a good user experience, so keeping apps in RAM is actually a good thing.
Not only does Android handle RAM assignment, but it also keeps track of background apps so they don’t use up unnecessary processor resources. There’s no noticeable performance hit for leaving apps loaded in RAM."

Thanks a lot for the analogy which certainly does make sense.
Perhaps I should not have used the words "poor job".
I certainly do understand the benefits of keeping apps loaded in ram for speed. I just found it odd that even before I turned off the MIUI optimizations which were supposed to be killing off apps, I would watch ram in use creep from 1gb to 2gb even after launching no apps.
I am still in the learning phase for this phone so will surely pick up its tendencies and quirks more as I go along.
Thanks for the input.

Care to elaborate?
I am also using the stock global 8.2.1 and I am really curious as to what you mean with totally different beast..
I already unlock bootloader so I can flash custom ROM, but I was actually living with stock global until ResurrectionRemix or LineageOS would be more bug free and go with them ad I love the "stock Google - Pixel esperienze" (running Pixel Launcher atm)..but I could surely benefit of a better ROM meanwhile.
Thanks in advance!
No more weird Chinese letters in some apps, no Chinese apps running in the background, no more lost notifications, better battery life, snappier response, and so on. I use nova launcher anyways so not sure about the launcher. But it's a real waste of space to have so few icons on such a large screen. I use a 8x5 grid.

Double tap to wake still inconsistent.
Will try for a few days before considering flashing to a custom ROM.
I have been using my MIX for three days now and I am very impressed with it. Along with mix in our circle of friends there is an iPhone 7 plus and Galaxy S8 Plus.
Experiencing with all 3, I love my MIX, its speed looks, and features. I am happy that I got it.
Before this I had Mi5, I still miss my mi5 size and beauty but I don't regret getting the MIX.

Let's assume that Xiaomi ships the devices from the factory with bootloader locked.
Even if the reseller has a way to unlock the bootloader without the usual method with a MI account, it is certain that they cannot do it wirelessly with the device powered down and inside the box.
So it is either that Xiaomi ships it unlocked, or the box has been opened, the device unlocked, and the box resealed again.

i did a full wipe and flashed using miflash latest global and locked the bootloader. after one day of use when I heard the global dev is coming out I unlocked bootloader again and guess what Netflix is working, cts mismatch is gone and device is certified on google play. now waiting global dev and official lineage
Bought Mi Mix 6gb yesterday (Sold my Galaxy Tab S2 T710 as the promised upgrade seems never happen, and my LG V10 due to heat issue) using global ROM and updated it to 8.2.5.0. Everything seems alright so far except it doesn't have Japanese locale. The translation project says it is 94% complete.
Audio quality is as great as LG G6, with my RHA T10 in ear headphone.
I prefer Mi Mix (or LG G6) to GS8+.
Now have to wait for the delivery of transparent cases...
Hi,
I hope you don't mind where you bought your Mix in Dubai? As I am interested in buying one and not sure where to get it as I am in DUbai also.

I got my MIX from Dubai, I live in the UK, my phone was sealed and came with 8,2 stable global. I am just curious that it came bootloader unlocked. As soon as I turned on the phone, set it up I got the update for 8.2.40 which mean genuine Xiaomi Rom. did anyone else get their phone bootloader unlocked. due to this my phone shows device not certified on google play, due to this I cant download Netflix and I don't know which app will stop working next

You're busy and don't have time to wait, which is why you need to stop reading this thread and get back to organizing your Pogs. Rate this thread to express how the Nokia 7 Plus performs when multitasking. A higher rating indicates that the Nokia 7 Plus keeps many apps in memory so that they don't need to reload, and that when moving between apps, transitions are smooth and performance is excellent.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
There are some jitters and multitasking isn't as smooth as I thought. Also, the phone reload the apps contents while multitasking. Didn't expect that.

I experienced ram management issues. Performance is slow and laggy. Performs like a 5 year old device.

Yeah. 8.0 in itself was a buggy release from Google (as is usually the case). 8.1 is super smooth but still a few rough edges are present.

I guess we just have to wait for a while for Android P. Since it is sure that Nokia 7 Plus will be the first device from Nokia to get the Android P update. Android P looks quite promising in terms of speed and performance with a mix of AI.
sad to hear this. Now im skeptical to buy this phone
i don't have any problem/lags... but i don't like animation, then have disable it in Developer setting, and feel of UI is super fast...
Multitasking isn't great. Xiaomi Mi A1 was better in that regard despite worse specs. Nokia lags when switching apps and doesn't hold apps in ram that good. Didn't expect that from a clean Android device. It's not terrible, but could be much better. I hope Nokia will do something about that or else I'll consider switching to OP6.
@K.khiladi, @awells845, @Y45
Can anyone share a brief video of the multitasking lag and jitter etc happening, i am thinking to buy this phone and want to see how much laggy it really is.
Good
After android 10 update everything seems to be perfect.
I am kind of kicking myself for not spending the extra clams for the 6GB version. For no real reason I just feel like it would do me for a longer time.
But is there really a significant difference between the two models? I mean from your personal experience. I watched some speed comparisons and overall the 6 GB model only saves you around thirty seconds after all the testing was done.
Keep in mind I don't use my phones for gaming. Well, nothing heavy duty like PUBG pr Asphalt.
How does it utilize it's ram?
I have the RN7 4/64 after a ton of tweaking and modification i manage to achive the usage of 1.26Gb of ram with stock MIUI10 V10.3.5.0
So with a striped-down to bare minimum ROM & snapdragon660 the touch and feel results plus the performance.... are simply amazing.
I was thinking stock Android but I may root this phone. I dunno yet.

can you tell what did you disable?
#DelphinusMinor I think that you should give it a try! And keep in mind that.. it IS possible to lock your phone's bootloader again if you want to use the warranty in the future, most fastboot roms atleast for RN7 have a .bat script that not only unbricks your phone in any case but it also locks again the bootloader
#MauroRTR I removed everything related to Social-apps, Mi bloatware and Google except Google Play services which i left untouched & i disabled the G-Play-Store a good alternative that i use is Aurora Store
*if you delete Gservices you may run into errors and conflicts, with banking apps*
also some system-apps & privileged system-apps that i know i can disable safely with our having errors and conficts
#MauroRTR #DelphinusMinor The tools that i often use to tweak my phone are...
ADB&Fastboot Tools (cli)
XiaomiADB&Fastboot Tools (gui)
RomToolboxPro
Termux-> (Debloater & Systemizer (magisk modules both))

well then there's absolutely no need to spend extra money to get the 6gb one. if light usage is all u do, 4gb ram is more than enough, given that the 660 performs roughly similar to the 835, which during its heyday often launched on flagships with 4gb of ram, and nobody batted an eyelid. its only on 845 phones where ram bottlenecking becomes a real issue, but that's not applicable here. and anyway without tweaking to miui, it kills apps very aggressively so your ram would stay relatively available.

I used to love RomToolbox Pro. Never install it now since they sold it a ways back and removed key features. It was nice for the reboot widget also.
Can you recommend an alternative reboot widget that doesn't require root?

I know exactly what you mean search for romtoolbox pro v6.0.4 if you get error for license or insta-crash just disable google's play store and RTPro will work like a charm

Well, IMHO, more RAM is always nice. Just be happy, you never know when you need it in the future. If the Note 7 is your only phone and intend to keep it for a long time, I think 6GB is a wise choice.
I don't know of any reboot app or widget that can reboot without root. However, if one knows Tasker, one can probably set up a task to open the power dialog and press the reboot button automatically.
I only bought the 4GB Note 7, but that's because I already have the Poco. The Note 7 is replacing my old Note 4X 4GB which is fine at 4GB for what it is used for, with 1.7GB left after all the apps I have set as permanent in memory. Ever since I've used Xiaomi, I have always disabled MIUI memory optimization, and always am rooted.
I was thinking of Note 7 Pro, but price is so near the Poco that Xiaomi doesn't sell the Note 7 Pro in my country, I guess they know folks will just go buy a Poco.
I was also debating on a used Poco at the same price of a new Note 7, but decided to just go for the Note 7 and wait for the X20 to mature a bit and go down in price at the end of its season, like the MI8 now.
Depends on your usage, I think 4 GB ram are enough for 3 years from now, do you intend to keep it any longer?

I tend to buy "new(used)" phones once or twice a year. This was the first actual new phone I bought for years.
Would you say that the Redmi Note 8 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Redmi Note 8 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

A second is an understatement. Mine takes 4-5 seconds for the screen to come on after it has been asleep for a while. I've never owned a phone that turns on so slowly. I have been caught out a few times when trying to take a photo and everything freezes long enough I miss the opportunity. I have mostly other peoples photos because my phone was too slow. The camera app also lags at the worst of times.
My only other gripe is the amount of call-backs to Xiaomi it does. My network blocks all of it and the phone still works regardless, looking at the stats my phone makes as many outbound requests as my laptop which I use all day (the phone is minimal usage). I also don't like seeing random chinese domains being accessed, if you can't keep it under the xiaomi/redmi doamin name then how can I trust it?
Ehh no. The SD 665 is ironically a bit slower than the SD 660 to preserve battery, I presume. Non "heavy" use should be fine
Speaking of gaming, PUBG surprisingly runs great at HD + Ultra! No frame drops too. The Arduino 610 is pretty noice.
I have the 3GB Redmi Note 8T and it's fine but I would like to Root it so I can freeze apps when not in use.

Download an app called GFX Tool from the Play Store. You can unlock any graphics setting and fps cap with it! Heck, you can even play on HDR/Extreme! Balanced/Extreme gives about 50 fps in my testing, and smooth/extreme gives 60. HD/extreme gives about 40.

I don't think so, because on my redmi note 8 model the 4g is detected and the 4g + that I don't see is why I asked if this model supports the 4g +?
For me this is the worst Xiaomi phone I ever had.
Sluggish performance, constantly redraw on launcher, slow internet speed for everything, lagging all around and terrible wake up process - sometimes it takes almost 10 seconds to wake up the screen.
I really pray that someone develop a good custom rom so I can use it properly.

It sounds like the compute cores aren't clocking up fast enough. All modern chips automatically change the voltage going to their cores based upon temperature and also utilization, know as dynamic frequency scaling. Intel calls it speedstep for example on their CPUs. Think of it is as autmatic on-the-fly overclocking & undervolting. So when a phone is in standby it runs at a very low frequency unless there are background tasks consuming resources. Changing the CPU governor depending on the governor you use will raise or lower these values among others. The value (in milliseconds) you want to be decreased is the polling interval so it will check more often what the current utilization is. Of course, you will need to be rooted and some software to change your governor. Before you do all that check your available power settings because the OS power settings often give you (limited) control over this and it would also explain the discrepancy in time it takes to respond between the two of you.
