Sorry, I don´t get it. When you boot up an unmodified StockRom everything is working out of the box. Do you mean a Custom Rom based on stock with SamsungPay etc. working? Please elaborate.
you want to sell the phone and have already tripped knox?
if so, the answer is no. s-health, samsung pay etc all require knox 0x0 to work on an unmodified rom. i had the same problem.

If knox is tripped you won't be able to use Samsung Health, Samsung Pay, Secure Folder etc. even if you flash a stock firmware image.
If you flash a custom rom the device will not be able receive OTA updates.
Unfortunately there aren't any fixes for tripping KNOX.

You could flash an official Samsung Rom and get automatic OTA Updates, or flash a custom Stock Rom (Batman Rom, Renovate Ice etc.) and get some extra features, but your brother would have to update manually.
In both cases everything knox related will not work.
Flashing a offcial Rom via Odin is probably the easiest solution.

Anyone tried flashing a stock rom after raising the Knox void flag?
I read somewhere, someone saying that its not possible to flash a stock rom after the flag activating....
If it is possible, do we lose OTA functionality?
Thanks

I'm wondering the same thing...I don't care about the warranty but if I sell the phone after the one year Samsung warranty is up I would like to be able to put it back to a state where the next owner will receive OTA updates.

Cool, so in regards to flashing back to stock, were you able to flash any (csc/region) stock rom or were you limited to your own csc that came with the phone.

Hello everyone
I am now on CyanogenMod and I'm kinda sick of this "clean Android" and would like to go back to Samsung's TouchWiz.
The problem is I tripped Knox to 0x1 when I moved to CyangoenMod.
Can I go back to Stock or the Knox won't allow?
What procedure do I need to do to go back to stock?

And what about this Knox?

Yup Just flash the stock rom and you should be fine and about Knox , dont worry about it because your phone is already voided , nothing else you can do about it until someone figure it out to reset it..and about the triangle away you can use this once you rooted your phone so that your Binary will be reset.

So after I install the stock I don't need to use Triangle Away?
Will I be able to receive OTA updates even though my Knox is 0x1?
Hi,
forget OTA updates,
and use always Odin for the updates.
It's better and faster
Yeah I know about it but anyway, will I be able to get OTA updates? And do I need to use Triangle Away after stock installation?
I have a phone which has a lot of problems after the KitKat update.
Now I want to try to reinstall KitKat. Samsung doesn't provide this, so I want to use ODIN and the firmware from SamMobile.
Does anybody know if I will do this that it will trip the Knox counter?
What if you try to just reset the phone to factory settings? I wouldn't know anything about Knox though. Hope you sort it out. :fingers-crossed:

I reinstalled my firmware and I can confirm that it indeed won't trip Knox.
As it might be useful I also want to share that updating using my Mac (with VMWare for Windows) gave me a lot of troubles. After using a native Windows laptop the update went fine.
Too bad it didn't solve my problem. Going back to the store to claim my warranty.

So forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question here but I thought that if I root my Note 3 I will automatically trip the Knox counter, even before I get anywhere near flashing a new ROM - stock or custom. Is that not true then?

You won't trip Knox if you install a KK rom but will if you try to flash bak JB.
Any form of rooting will trip Knox. There used to be safe ways that didn't but with the introduction of the newer bootloaders this is no longer guaranteed...
Have you tried backing up any info you want to keep to a pc then factory resetting, I found KK was a b!tch until I reset it due to old JB data scraps causing issues...

I'm on stock 4.3 and not having any issues at the moment - other than my Note 3 not picking up the 4G signal on 3 for some infuriating reason.
So can I flash a stock KK rom without rooting then? I'm probably being thick but thought you had to be rooted to flash any kind of ROM?

You have to be rooted to flash the custom roms provided here and that will mostly be thru recovery. It will surely trip knox. To flash stock roms from sammobile you don't need root. That can be done thru odin.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I would suggest however, if you are network locked to unlock 1st... If you need to flash a separate modem afterwards this can trip Knox as you aren't really using a "Stock rom"...
Also make sure re-activation lock is OFF.... If you go to Kitkat and you don't have a KK rom yet you are stuck with a softbricked phone until you do get the KK rom... You can't go back to JB after flashing KK rom due to a new bootloader...
Hello to all.
I would like your kind advices and opinion on the following matter.
I have a stock s7edge, exynos variant (G935F).
I still have one year of warranty.
After the latest security updates and the fact that I can no longer install S8 apps, it got me thinking about rooting the phone.
I am fairly experienced in rooting phones and installing roms. As a matter of fact, all my previous phones are now rooted and updated to 7.1.2
My question is the following:
I do not want to install a new rom. I am happy with the stock one (at least for now ). I just want to root the phone in order to be able to have access to the system files and replace the apks etc.
Is it worth it?
If yes, how can I root the phone? (any guide with recovery files included etc?)
If I root the phone, what things will I miss and not be able to do? (Do I just lose KNOX and Samsung Pay?)
If I want to go back to unrooted state, is it easy, and how can I do it? (any guide with stock recovery included etc?)
Your kind assistance and opinions will be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Mate wrong thread.
Yes, sorry about that. A big thanx to the devs for moving it to the right thread.
So, I made a research and I believe that the best way to root my s7 edge is using Odin, then flashing the latest twrp recovery (3.1.1-0), and then by entering the recovery, to flash the latest SuperSU zip (v.2.82).
Do you agree? Or is it better to use Odin and then flash the CF-AutoRoot??
Also, if I want to un-root the phone, do I just have to flash via odin all the stock firmware files (CP, CSC, BL etc?). Will that also bring back the stock recovery and delete twrp?
Also, will the KNOX counter be triggered even if I unroot and return back to stock using the above method?
Final question is what will I miss if I root the phone? I suppose KNOX and Samsung Pay. Will everything else work as normal? Will I have any problem with the camera's performance?
I thank you very much in advance for your assistance.

Hi
There is a guide here - http://www.droidviews.com/install-twrp-root-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge-on-nougat-g935fxxu1dplt/
make sure you follow this guide EXACTLY
This is different from other phones!
The only thing you will miss is Knox and Samsung Pay correct everything else will work along with Magisk (hides root from apps such as AndroidPay/banking apps).
If you were to install a custom rom i suggest Superstock (current v2.8) As you can probably tell from the name its an improved stock with battery tweaks/camera tweaks etc
Yes when you flash TWRP KNOX is tripped and there is no going back what so ever even if you flash stock firmware and remove root knox will still be tripped so wave goodbye to knox.
if you did want to go back to normal yes just flash official stock firmware with odin this will remove root and twrp.
(knox will still be tripped though)
p.s you could skip supersu install if you are going to root via magisk instead
if you are unfamiliar with magisk etc i highly reccomend just installing a custom rom (such as the one i mentioned earlier) which comes with magisk already installed

First of all thank you so much for your kind reply, contents of which are noted.
To be honest, if I will flash a new rom, my first choise would be a full s8 port rom, like Konghloi's.
The only thing that worries me is what you said about KNOX not reseting even if I unroot and return to stock. I don't really care about the app itself (I think that even samsung will stop its development in order to propmote "secure folder". I am more concerned that I will lose my warranty since the dealers will know fore sure that the phone has been rooted at some point in the past.

understood, having personally tried all the s8 ports already i reccommend ambasadii's S8 Port (Konghloi is a great Dev but past experiance the ROM's are infested with bugs) I'm currently dual-booting Roms and have ambasadii's as my secondary ROM
About the warranty... if you read the fine print samsungs warranty isn't worth a great deal. it will only cover you for an electrical or mechanical fault that is common with the device. (which if your savvy enough you can fix yourself anyway) it wont cover you for any accidental damage drops/water/cracks etc...
Also you can still take your device to an other dealer to fix your phone for you, they don't care what you've done to it (with payment ofc) just not Samsung.
you really have to weigh up both options
personally i think the chances of device failure is slim and easier/quicker to fix as long as its not an expensive fix like the LCD breaking (which if you dropped it and it broke your not covered anyway)
and the pros of rooting and custom roms heavily outweigh the cons of loosing knox and voiding warranty.
Edit: #Yolo

@EasyAndroidPro I would like your opinion for the following matter.
I came across this video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUoVKH2zp3g
As you will see in the end of the video (at about 8:15), the guy who unrooted his s7 edge usin Odin, says (and shows) that the "warranty void : 0".
What figures...?

Didn't have chance to watch the whole video just skipped through bits but all he did was flash stock firmware... this will not reset your Knox counter and not give you warranty . He probably did not even root his phone lol all he did was update it. Also I think there is a way to root without tripping Knox but as soon as you flash twrp or custom Rom Knox is triggered.
It will unroot your phone but it will not get your warranty back once it has been voided. Knox is an e-fuse once you break it there's no going back unless you replace hardware
